I had an amazing experience. My first time there, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the spinach dip and chips and catfish and spaghetti full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The customer service was outstanding. The waitresses and waiters were so friendly and attentive. They atmosphere was beautiful upscale and welcoming. The music playing in the background added to the perfect dining experience. I also like that the owner walked around checking on guests which gave it such a personal touch. The Charlotte is such a cute spot! Definitely a place for the girls. I do think it's a little pricey, but if you go during happy hour, it's a great deal. They have so many options for $9 or less! Heard really great things about the Charlotte and wanted to give it a try! First, we had a reservation but still had to wait about 10-15 min to be seated. However, we did receive exceptional service! I opted for the crab claws, the fried fish and spaghetti, a slice of cornbread, and a porn star martini. This was my first time having crab claws and I must say it wasn't too bad, pretty good! The spaghetti and fish were pretty tasty. I wish the fish could've been fried a teeny bit harder so the breading could've stayed on but other than that I enjoyed it. You could also tell this was real catfish too, not swai. The only thing I did not like was the cornbread- not good flavor nor texture. It had to be remade twice and still wasn't up to par. I really appreciate the free valet parking! Service was very good, and when I asked about suggestions she responded well. I ordered the wings and plantains for myself (two appetizers). Both were VERY tasty and I took half home for a meal later. I also ordered a Dirty Shirley, and the drink was very delicious. The ambiance is upscale and fun with their teddy bears. It was my friend's birthday, so we requested if a bear could be moved to our table for a photo, and the staff were quick to make it happen. My mom and I have become a regular here for brunch so it's only fair I right a review. I love this place and the food and drinks have been consistent each visit, which is definitely a plus. Pornstar Martini, Crab Fingers, Spicy Lamb Chops, and Spicy Vodka Pasta are just a few of my favorites but honestly I doubt you'll be disappointed with anything you try on the menu. The Charlotte is a Black-Owned bistro located off Henderson. They offer valet parking at the back of the restaurant but we were lucky to find a couple of street parking spots. For starters we tried the spinach and artichoke dip. This was just okay, the dip itself lacked a little bit of flavor, but it was a cozy app to try. I couldn't decide between the vodka pasta and the burger and our server suggested the latter which I opted for. The burger was good! It comes with a delicious sauce and I ordered a side of truffle fries and broccolini. Overall the vibes were amazing. I didn't indulge in any cocktails so I'm curious to see how those are and will return to check out their patio which was closed for a photoshoot the day we visited. Our server seemed a bit disengaged and we had to flag her down a couple of times because we were forgotten. We came to The Charlotte in Dallas to celebrate my friend Ashley's birthday, and from the moment we arrived, we knew it was going to be a great experience. There was a slight delay getting everyone seated because valet was backed up, but they were working hard to get everyone through, and it was absolutely worth the wait. The adorable bear theme throughout the restaurant is so unique and charming, and we can't wait to come back to enjoy a cocktail on their beautiful patio. The drink menu was fantastic, especially since two out of the three of us are pregnant and still had plenty of fun options to choose from. Ashley ordered a dirty martini and absolutely loved it. Our waitress, Caila, was FIRE! She was energetic, genuinely kind, attentive, and made our entire experience even better. If you visit, definitely request her! For appetizers, we shared the spinach artichoke dip, served with perfectly salted chips, salsa, and (my personal favorite) sour cream. Everything was delicious. For dinner, I had the Kale Salad, Kels ordered the Mafaldine, and Ashley had the Spicy Vodka Shells--which definitely live up to their name! We all added the blackened chicken, and I can't recommend it enough. It was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection. And to top it all off, they brought gummy bears with our checks! The last time I came was for brunch with friends. It's been over a year since our last visit. So we decided to meet up for a Galentines HAPPY HOUR! I'm was hoping things had improved since they are not new anymore. The restaurant is still charming and cute. I love the ambiance. The giant teddy bears throughout the restaurant. The red decor for Valentine's weekend. It was sexy and cozy with the red pops of color. Service was good! My waiter was pleasant and polite. The happy hour prices were great. I was able to try some new items cheaper! The happy hour menu has more cocktail, wine and beer choices than food. My friend and I both ordered the happy hour smash cheeseburger. The smash burger was good. It's huge and is loaded with pickles, caramelized onions, cheese and hamburger meat. I opted NOT to get the jerk aioli on it. Thanks to another Yelp review who said the jerk aioli was too much. I asked for that sauce on the side. I'm so glad I did because it reminded me of jerk chicken. I would not have liked it on my burger. It's very spicy and overpowering. I asked for ketchup and mustard and that complimented the burger well. She ordered some truffle fries and I helped her eat them. They give you a lot of fries. They were tasty and definitely enough to share. The Caesar Salad was huge. You can share this too. It's also on the happy hour menu. It was presented nicely. For cocktails we chose the Porn Star Martini which was delicious. The passion fruit flavor was on point. The drink was classy and sassy. The other drink we chose was the Peach Bellini. It was frozen and the presentation was cute, but tasted just okay. Overall a good time and the free Valet Parking is a plus. I think I enjoy dinner more than brunch--there are more food options that taste better. It's a small, intimate venue, with teddy bears everywhere, and the service is pretty good as well. I will say that last time, I dined for brunch, and a lot of things were off the menu/ sold out, which was a little bummer, but we made it work. For apps, I really enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip, calamari, and crab fried rice. 10/10 For drinks, I love the Pornstar and Frosé! 10/10 To be honest, I was not impressed by the Smashburger. It was a little underwhelming. It lacked seasoning, and the hamburger bun seemed tough. If that makes sense, it wasn't light and fluffy. I've already reviewed The Charlotte, and my five stars still stand. This time, I tried the catfish and spaghetti. The spaghetti has a slight spice to it that really takes the flavor up a notch. The combination of the two works surprisingly well. My only recommendation would be to fry the catfish a little harder. It was a bit soft, and since you are pairing it with spaghetti, it could really benefit from that extra crunch for better texture contrast. That said, the fish itself was well seasoned and still very good. The staff here continues to be amazing, and the restaurant is just as beautiful as ever. The Charred Elote On The Cob came out hot and well seasoned. Crispy duck was fall-off-the-bone tender and the harissa sauce paired with it perfectly! Whipped potatoes were easily one of the best parts of the meal--super buttery and melt-in-your-mouth. If substitutions are an option, I'd skip the potato pave next time and opt. for that instead. Service was on par and the teddy bear theme throughout the restaurant was so cute. They give you gummy bears at the end of the meal and have giant teddy bears around the restaurant for photo ops. We ordered a bottle of wine, and it was simply set on the table with an ice bucket--they didn't even place it in the bucket, pour it, or provide any level of wine service. We also specifically asked for the meal to be coursed, but after the appetizers arrived, all remaining dishes came out at once. To make matters worse, the table next to us was loudly FaceTiming the entire time, and no one from the restaurant addressed it. For a $300+ dinner for two, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. The arancini and calamari were very good, but the burgers were dry, and the Caesar salad and truffle fries were just okay. Overall, the food and service didn't justify the cost. Once we finally sat down, it took another 10 minutes just to get water and that only happened because I asked someone walking by. The ambiance was really nice and the music set a good vibe, so that definitely helped the experience. For appetizers, we ordered the Caesar salad and oysters. The oysters were good but not hot, and the Caesar salad was honestly not that great. For dinner, we had the lamb chops, which were pretty good but a bit on the spicy side. The asparagus wasn't very enjoyable, but the truffle fries were the standout of the entire meal easily the best thing we had. My friend ordered the pasta with salmon and didn't enjoy it at all.
