A good Tuesday night outing. I attended an event there, and although the venue appeared to be a bit understaffed, our waitress, Gabby, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She checked on us regularly, kept us updated, and brought our drinks out as quickly as they were prepared. Catbird employees have the worst customer service and are thieves. I went to Catbird for Take a Break fest and lost my Chanel sunglasses there. Yes, I know It was my fault for losing them, BUT I called Catbird hoping someone turned it in and an employee named Vanessa answered. Thankfully, a good samaritan found them and had turned my sunglasses into lost and found. When I asked Vanessa what glasses were turned in, she told me what they were before I could even describe them, meaning they had my glasses. After, I told her I would come get them the next day. The next day, I came to pick them up, and when I told them I was there to get my glasses, the Catbird employees told me they couldn't find my glasses, which is wild bc Vanessa just told me the day before they were there. I talked to security and management and no one knew where they were. Catbird just lost my $500 Chanel sunglasses in under 24 hours! How was this possible, especially if I already claimed them? It seems like someone might've taken them. The Management at Catbird (Preston, Collin, Marty) have all been very unhelpful and disrespectful towards me. I know they do not care. They told me they would call me back every time, and every single time, no one has contacted me, making my boyfriend or I have to continuously reach out to them. They had my glasses and they lost them, and are being super unhelpful and uncooperative in helping me locate them. Security - Victor at the Thompson Hotel has told me that there are security cameras in the Lobby but no one has reviewed them and it's been weeks. Why? We have called many times, and No one has given me any updates. I'm fed up with their terrible customer service and them delaying this process but making promises and commitments they don't intend to keep. These glasses are from my grandma who has passed away. I sat with this for a couple of weeks before posting so I could reflect more so here goes. I booked a reservation for drinks before dinner for my sister and best friends birthday a couple of weeks ago. We walk in cool vibes, hostess Corrie greeted and walked us to the table we were warmly greeted by Lawren and she stated that we had another server but she would be helping us until she returned from break which I thought was interesting since it was only 6 and they opened at 5? Either way we have a short timeline since we have to be at dinner by 7:15p everything goes well until the server shows up. I wish Lawren had time to transition because we would've tipped her in cash before she left bc this Ani character was inattentive and gave poor I wouldn't call it service because one would have to do something. She came over briefly to offer an excuse to why she wasn't there, I had to flag down another waitress to get her attention to come back to the table instead she just brought the check and dropped it on the other side of the table before leaving again. My favorite part was around the 20% tip which was audacious and tacky since she did enough to make me question even providing any tip at all. My partner summoned the manager Colby or Cody not sure which but his non-reaction was indicative of this being a regular occurrence. So I came here briefly for a networking event and I LOVED IT! First of all, it is so cute and the rooftop is PERFECT! Second, all of the bartenders were so sweet and they did NOT skimp on the liquor AT ALL!!!!!!!! I asked for a sweet drink recommendation and was told to try the Komorebi. This was easily one of the best (and strongest) cocktails I've had all year!! Not only is it super cute, but it has the perfect amount of sweetness and tartness. Don't let that fool you though, because after ordering 2 of them, I was absolutely done for the night and needed an uber home so do with that what you will! It was alright. We arrived about 7:30 pm on a Friday night. It's on floor 9C. When you exit the elevator, you're in a reception / host station area. ID's are checked, then you're directed down a flower-lined hallway to the bar / restaurant interior. The bummer part for us is that while the place was not yet busy at all, all the open tables were reserved. We looked outside and found no viable places for 2 people to be comfortable. They have a second bar and seating area that was not open tonight and we were allowed to sit in there but we needed to come to the main bar to order and wait for our drinks. Only a minor inconvenience considering we found nice seating in the unopen bar space. The drinks were okay. Cost was $19 to $21 each for what we had. We expected that. We asked the bartender to order us a piece of cheesecake. At first it was a no - "you have to order from a server". But since we weren't seated in a space with any service, the bartender agreed to make it happen. And he did and the cheesecake was good. Over the next 40 minutes or so, the music got louder. Really loud! And the place really started to fill up. I'm thankful I carry Apple AirPods with me as it was the only way I could survive in this loud environment. A lot of people hung out outside on their two outside terrace-like spaces. There was little seating outside but the young folks were content to stand, chat, take pics and such. This place is really cute, with plenty of photo-worthy spots throughout. After a quick ID check at the door, you're in. The night we visited, most of the tables in the main dining room were reserved. That's where you'll find the DJ and one of the bars. There are also two patio spaces with open seating--one outdoors and one covered. The covered patio was my favorite, with another bar, plenty of lounge seating, a fireplace, and great views of downtown. I told the bartender I wanted something cute, and she recommended the Catbird. I visited Catbird during one of their R&B themed nights. With this theme, they served ramen and bao buns while a dj played RnB music all night. When my friends I arrived for our reservation our table was not ready. We waited a few minutes and then was sat in a more private area of the restaurant. Aesthetically, the restaurant is very pretty with moody lights and lounge seating, great for grabbing drinks with the girls or a date. The lounge seating was definitely not meant to indulge in a meal. The music was extremely loud. To the point where when we left we all complained of our throats hurting from having to yell at each other just to have a conversation, so that was unfortunate. As for service our waitress seemed ok at first, but it quickly became apparent she had a problem with one of my friends. She was very short with my friend and then tried to give her an espresso martini that was suspiciously bubbly. There were so many bubbles, that the drink continued to fizz and bubble over onto the table for 5 minutes straight. Finally when our waitress returned, I told her to take that drink back because it was obviously spiked. The waitress tried to push us to keep the drink but I insisted we did not want to keep that at our table. As for the food, no one at my table was happy with their order, and we were hesitant to drink after that encounter. Overall, this was a strange night and left a bad taste in my mouth. My request for a bottled beer, didn't get filled until after the food arrived and flagging down another sever for assistance. One of our burgers had to have been forgotten about because we were practically finished with all the other food before we had to remind our sever that we were still waiting for it. And once we were finally able to track our server down to close out, we asked that she come back ASAP because our Uber was outside waiting, we finally got our bill back to sign 15 minutes later. Which is especially frustrating for an establishment that auto adds gratuity to your bill. Thankfully most of the food was delicious, so the experience wasn't a complete bust. If you're willing to risk the poor service the teriyaki burger and fries were both amazing. And the brisket ramen was also really good. Both the crispy chicken Bao and shrimp po Bao were good, but overpriced IMHO for them to only come with 2pc. Caroline is the absolute best. Oh my gosh she's the sweetest server I've ever had ever met. She is a great conversationalist and great recommendations on the menu. When I first walked into Catbird, alarm bells started ringing. This bar has been on my list of Dallas places to go for a while, especially because I heard the views were exceptional. However, upon first entering you are greeted by a flower tunnel that screams "social media bar". Social media bars tend to be great for pictures, but terrible dining experience. As a fatty without any social media, these bars are never enjoyable to me. Catbird, unfortunately, fell into that category. First, service is very slow. I had to go to the bar to order a drink because of the wait at the table. The drinks, however, are tasty. I appreciated the bartenders craftsmanship and it was fun watching him make the cocktails. I ordered the Fuji Lady to start, which I really liked. It comes with burnt rosemary which smells so good. Next I had Locked In, which was tasty as well. However, the drink menu in person is different than online, and they are out of EVERYTHING. My friend tried to order three different tequila based drinks, only to be told different products were out for each one. Food is just okay. We snacked on the Crab Dip and French Fries. Crab dip was had a very heavy lemon taste and was a little too gloopy for my typical taste in dips. The French fries were so basic and sounded so much better the way it was described on the menu. For dessert, I brought in a cake. There is a cake fee, which I expected but isn't posted anywhere on their website. I also brought in candles, which they completely left off the cake and just put in matches???!! I was so upset, but they had switched servers halfway through, and the older server told nothing to the new one (including our drink orders which were never put in). I just think that's terrible service, not even telling the other person about the cake and basically stealing my candles. The only redemption is the validated parking. I visited Catbird for the second time recently and this time I got food in addition to drinks. Overall the atmosphere keeps me coming back with the nice aesthetic and rooftop views as well. The food is excellent; we ordered the fries, smashburger, bao buns, waffle, and chicken karaage and everything was so delicious. For drinks, the table got a good mix of everything; the white lies (for coconut and gin lovers this one is a classic), matcha made in heaven, and suki says. My faves were both suki says and white lies. Lauren was our server and she was so personable and friendly! This place is not what I thought I was. I thought it was a restaurant but it's more of a bar lounge. The menu is very select and changes. There isn't much to choose from. I had the fried rice and tried the fries which were good. My friend had the queso but didn't like it and exchanged it for the fried rice. The drink that I had was good. It's located inside a hotel, so you'll need to take an elevator once you walk in. I highly recommend Ubering if you can -- parking can be a bit of a hassle. There is a parking garage nearby (you'll have to pay) and valet is available, but honestly, arriving by rideshare just makes the whole night smoother. If you go on a Thursday night, get ready -- the DJ goes absolutely crazy! They play real R&B, not just radio edits, and the crowd truly vibes to it. It's a great place to meet people, hang out with friends, or even just unwind solo with a drink and the skyline view. Speaking of, the cocktails are amazing and the views are even better. They do serve food, but I personally come for the drinks and atmosphere. If you do plan on eating, definitely make a reservation. One night I didn't, got hungry toward the end, and couldn't get seated (ended up on the waitlist that never moved ). Super cute spot with a quiet ambiance! At least on a Sunday. You can valet your car and get your ticket validated by the hostess stand, or park your car yourself for $10. The bar is on the 9th floor and has a beautiful outdoor area with a nice view of the city. Indoors is super comfortable and chic and seating for both large and small parties. You have to do a reservation here. It's a must. Catbird is very chic and trendy, but it definitely attracts more women than men. The rooftop is excellent and has great views. That said, the menu rotates and it's all overpriced, but not bad on flavor. The first time I came, me and my party came for drinks only. Their website indicated that they would close at about 1am, so imagine our surprise when the "bouncer?" came around at 12:15am to all of the tables telling everyone that it was time to wrap up and leave. Huh? Sir, it won't take us 45 minutes to head out. Yet, by 12:30am all of us were ushered to the elevators to exit. Annoying. Fast forward almost a year later, when I returned for dinner with a group of three of us. After our "two-hour" time was almost up, again a host approached our table and told us that our reservation time was up. Huh? MInd you, this was about 9pm on a Friday night and there were multiple booths and tables around ours that were empty. Why do we need to leave now? I am confusion. We complied, and decided to go check out the rooftop before leaving for a few minutes. When we came back inside about 10 minutes later, we were annoyed to see that our table was still unoccupied. Interesting, considering you made a whole thing about leaving because our reservation was over. I don't take these things personally. This isn't about race or anything like that. It's just the policies of this establishment are somewhat rigid and ridiculous. I understand that Catbird is a popular destination for special events, nice dates, and girls nights, but the policies and enforcement of these policies could be adjusted. This is a great cocktail bar to come for drinks, but beyond that, there are better places or places just as great that you can go to, and possibly have a better experience. read more

It was date night for my husband and I so we ventured into Dallas to try Catbird. We made a reservation and even though we were 15 minutes late they still accommodated us - and with a smile. We had a great seat location by the window so we could see the outside seating as well as the amazing view of downtown. Our server was very helpful and sweet and provided us with excellent food recommendations. We tried the Burnt End Hummus and Flanken Beef Ribs which were both absolutely delicious! We were worried that the food wouldn't be filling since it's mostly small plates, but we shared both meals and they were the perfect portion. I also tried the espresso martini and it was wonderful! The vibes in this place are fantastic and the ambiance is Instagramable. This is the perfect place for a date night, ladies night, or just to have a drink and enjoy the lowkey atmosphere. Located in the heart of Downtown Dallas , Catbird is a popular place for middle aged adults to come out and enjoy a nice vibe . Parking downtown is always scarce or overpriced . This was my first time and really went in blindly, but overall nice venue. Not hats for the gentleman. Spacious apt with different picturesque areas. I didn't try the drinks but hear something in the price range $20 a spirit. I wanna like this place but I don't think I got the overall experience that I would like .
