    Fuji Lady

When I first walked into Catbird, alarm bells started ringing. This bar has been on my list of Dallas places to go for a while, especially because I heard the views were exceptional. However, upon first entering you are greeted by a flower tunnel that screams "social media bar". Social media bars tend to be great for pictures, but terrible dining experience. As a fatty without any social media, these bars are never enjoyable to me. Catbird, unfortunately, fell into that category. First, service is very slow. I had to go to the bar to order a drink because of the wait at the table. The drinks, however, are tasty. I appreciated the bartenders craftsmanship and it was fun watching him make the cocktails. I ordered the Fuji Lady to start, which I really liked. It comes with burnt rosemary which smells so good. Next I had Locked In, which was tasty as well. However, the drink menu in person is different than online, and they are out of EVERYTHING. My friend tried to order three different tequila based drinks, only to be told different products were out for each one. Food is just okay. We snacked on the Crab Dip and French Fries. Crab dip was had a very heavy lemon taste and was a little too gloopy for my typical taste in dips. The French fries were so basic and sounded so much better the way it was described on the menu. For dessert, I brought in a cake. There is a cake fee, which I expected but isn't posted anywhere on their website. I also brought in candles, which they completely left off the cake and just put in matches???!! I was so upset, but they had switched servers halfway through, and the older server told nothing to the new one (including our drink orders which were never put in). I just think that's terrible service, not even telling the other person about the cake and basically stealing my candles. The only redemption is the validated parking. Overall, do not recommend Catbird, as there are a thousand better "social media bars" around Dallas

I visited Catbird during one of their R&B themed nights. With this theme, they served ramen and bao buns while a dj played RnB music all night. When my friends I arrived for our reservation our table was not ready. We waited a few minutes and then was sat in a more private area of the restaurant. Aesthetically, the restaurant is very pretty with moody lights and lounge seating, great for grabbing drinks with the girls or a date. The lounge seating was definitely not meant to indulge in a meal. The music was extremely loud. To the point where when we left we all complained of our throats hurting from having to yell at each other just to have a conversation, so that was unfortunate. As for service our waitress seemed ok at first, but it quickly became apparent she had a problem with one of my friends. She was very short with my friend and then tried to give her an espresso martini that was suspiciously bubbly. There were so many bubbles, that the drink continued to fizz and bubble over onto the table for 5 minutes straight. Finally when our waitress returned, I told her to take that drink back because it was obviously spiked. The waitress tried to push us to keep the drink but I insisted we did not want to keep that at our table. As for the food, no one at my table was happy with their order, and we were hesitant to drink after that encounter. Overall, this was a strange night and left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not suggest dining here, or at least be very careful on what you order and who serves you.

I am obsessed with catbird! The interior is always so iconic and gorgeous. We had a lovely booth, that was also nice for people watching--the fashion is incredible. The drinks are so fun and tasty, I love that they change out the menu. Not pictured is the crab Rangoon Dip and some other tasty treat that I can't remember. It was too cold this particular night to go out much on the rooftop area, but it has great views!

I have nothing bad to say about this place! The food, ambiance, service was all a 5/5! We got the crab Rangoon dip, fried rice and salmon bites, would highly recommend! We ended the night with the cheesecake and it was so good! Not to mention the views were amazing too!

Came in for Ramen & Bao x RnB night The DJ was in there going his thing, music was great all night! Unfortunately the service did not match the musical vibes at all. Politely put the service was slow at every turn. It was a mission to get water refilled. My request for a bottled beer, didn't get filled until after the food arrived and flagging down another sever for assistance. One of our burgers had to have been forgotten about because we were practically finished with all the other food before we had to remind our sever that we were still waiting for it. And once we were finally able to track our server down to close out, we asked that she come back ASAP because our Uber was outside waiting, we finally got our bill back to sign 15 minutes later. Which is especially frustrating for an establishment that auto adds gratuity to your bill. Thankfully most of the food was delicious, so the experience wasn't a complete bust. If you're willing to risk the poor service the teriyaki burger and fries were both amazing. And the brisket ramen was also really good. Both the crispy chicken Bao and shrimp po Bao were good, but overpriced IMHO for them to only come with 2pc. As an additional service note: our group found it frustrating that they left the normal food menu on the tables if they were only going to serve from the specialty menu, as there were items in the regular menu that we really wanted, but were told that we couldn't have, because they were only serving from the themed menu.

The environment of Catbird is fab, mood lighting, lounge seating, great views. The service? Terrible, you are limited to an hour and a half--which isn't mentioned anywhere. You won't be able to change tables, mind you some of their chairs are below sea level. The food was good, drink are an interesting asian fusion type, which is alright. Feel like the host had more say on what went on in the dining area, which wasn't accommodating at all. Also idk if I trust valet, saw them speed peoples vehicles in the garage. Maybe come during the week?

I visited Catbird for the second time recently and this time I got food in addition to drinks. Overall the atmosphere keeps me coming back with the nice aesthetic and rooftop views as well. The food is excellent; we ordered the fries, smashburger, bao buns, waffle, and chicken karaage and everything was so delicious. For drinks, the table got a good mix of everything; the white lies (for coconut and gin lovers this one is a classic), matcha made in heaven, and suki says. My faves were both suki says and white lies. Lauren was our server and she was so personable and friendly! She definitely made sure we all had an enjoyable, unforgettable, and warm experience for our girls dinner. It was a pleasure to dine in at Catbird and we will be back soon.

Atmosphere is a 10/10 at this place. Good vibes and cozy settings around the fireplace. Definitely a place to hang out and chill with your friends. Drinks are very high and the bartenders all had attitudes. We went on a Thursday night and it wasn't jam packed but the bartenders seemed rushed and irritated. For the price of the drinks we literally have had better service at a Chick fil A than this place. We put our name on a waitlist just to get food and was never called. So we left and ate somewhere else. Overall I would only come here for the rooftop views and vibes. That's about it...

Catbird -- Dallas, TX Catbird is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Dallas -- the vibe is unmatched. It's elegant but laid-back, with the perfect mix of class and comfort that makes you want to stay all night. I've been several times now, and it never disappoints. It's located inside a hotel, so you'll need to take an elevator once you walk in. I highly recommend Ubering if you can -- parking can be a bit of a hassle. There is a parking garage nearby (you'll have to pay) and valet is available, but honestly, arriving by rideshare just makes the whole night smoother. If you go on a Thursday night, get ready -- the DJ goes absolutely crazy! They play real R&B, not just radio edits, and the crowd truly vibes to it. It's a great place to meet people, hang out with friends, or even just unwind solo with a drink and the skyline view. Speaking of, the cocktails are amazing and the views are even better. They do serve food, but I personally come for the drinks and atmosphere. If you do plan on eating, definitely make a reservation. One night I didn't, got hungry toward the end, and couldn't get seated (ended up on the waitlist that never moved ). Bonus: the building Catbird's in has other bars and lounges you can explore throughout the night without ever leaving the hotel -- perfect for a spontaneous night out. Overall, Catbird is one of those places that just feels like Dallas -- chic, soulful, and full of good energy.

Catbird located in the Thompson hotel offers a lounge like atmosphere with happy hour, dinner, late night eats, and cocktail options. It has an outdoor rooftop option and also parking is validated. They have a great menu of Asian offerings. We got their crab Rangoon dip, chicken fried rice, and bbq short rib bao bun. The food was really delicious and service was just as good. This is a great spot to enjoy unique and great drinks while also having a delicious menu options.

If I were a local, I'd take every single date here. The ambiance, atmosphere, rooftop, quiet corners, couches are perfect for a date. The food menu is very small. However, very extensive cocktail list. I didn't think my espresso martini was anything, but average. I did like the endamame though.

I dont know where to start. We made reservations. Our party sat down and waited over 25 minutes just for a person to come take our order. She was very blah. Told us what they dont have. Not a great experience. We split the bill and found out she ran my card twice. Had to call cc company. Go to the Charolette if you are looking for great service and vibes and food!!! Lesson learned.

Are infants allowed and if so, do they have high chairs?

Even if allowed (which seems unlikely), Catbird is most definitely not a place where you're going to want to take an infant. The music is deafening and the environment would be a very uncomfortable one for your child.

Not a problem since we enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying our drinks. The bartenders were great, fast and very friendly. I appreciate that before pouring my wine, the one bartender put in a lot of effort to buffing my glass. I ordered a plum wine to start, which is always delicious and sweet. We were seated a little earlier than 20 minutes, but unfortunately weren't greeted for a bit following that. They were super busy though. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable, and we stuck with splitting apps versus getting ramen. We ordered the shishito peppers, karaage, takoyaki, and edamame. To drink, we ordered and split the hot sake. The first plates came out pretty quickly, and were hot and delicious. Our hot sake took a while to be delivered, and we had to ask our waiter to double check it was still on the way. Then when it arrived, we had to fight off a bunch of gnats that kept landing on the bottle. I guess they wanted to party, too! The shishito peppers were definitely my favorite. They were perfectly coated in sauce and flavoring. The karaage was tender and tastes especially good when paired with the watermelon. takoyaki was served hot and it's a blast watching the Bonita flakes dance on the balls. The edamame, while good, needed to be stirred up because the salt distribution was heavy on certain pieces. We wished we could order dessert, but felt a bit rushed by the server. It was a little before 10pm, so we understand they're off at 11pm, but as a former server there's definitely better ways to keep up with the closing process that feels less intrusive to the patrons. When we walked in, the hostess had a poor attitude and was off putting. Unfriendly and borderline rude. We made sure to get there as soon as they opened because we knew it would be dead, and we'd have better luck at quicker service. Unfortunately, they sat us outside because we had our ESA animal in an enclosed carrier after grilling us about what services he performs, and I believe we were forgotten about since we were the only ones on the porch. It was a very warm day with high humidity. I asked the hostess if she could make sure the fans were on since it was so hot, and she asked, "So, you want me to turn them off?" We only ordered two apps of Roti Canai, one order of the twice friend wings, and an order or the donuts (all were ordered at once to help speed things along since it was so hot outside.) It took quite a while, and the wings came out soggy and cold, which is not the norm. A thunderstorm was coming in, and we had been waiting on our donuts for at least 20 minutes at this point. My husband informed the hostess that we would have to either cancel the order or move inside since it was about to start raining. She flippantly said that she would have to ask the manager first if we were allowed inside. We were so turned off that it really ruined the experience, and it was not the way we wanted to celebrate Mother's Day. The donuts finally came out (also cold), and I had my husband just give her the credit card without the check so we could hurry up and get off the porch before it started coming down. We rushed through the dessert and left. Not loving our experience and not sure if we'll be back until the attitude and service changes. We're bummed because we were always a fan of this place until now.

They have happy hour on Saturdays so I started with an IPA on tap and the wife had a Prosecco, also for happy hour prices. This is a tapas restaurant so I will try to remember all that we had. Manchego cheese board: excellent. The crisps and jam were perfect with the cheese. Potato torilla: excellent. The flavors melded very well and it was very tasty. It's filling so keep that in mind. Ceviche de jalapeno: excellent. Not too spicy, the shrimp and seafood was fresh with no fishy smell. The plantains were cooked perfectly, not greasy. Brisket on crostini: excellent. Forget the name but they are a winner. Brisket is good quality and the flavors come together nicely. Chicken skewer: excellent. They smartly use chicken thighs so the meat is juicy and tender. Tuna tartare: good. It actually was my least favorite. The quality was very good but it did not have much flavor. I needed some heat, some acid, something to give it a kick. We were absolutely stuffed and did not try dessert. Our server Marcellus was excellent. Very helpful and pleasant throughout. He never disappeared for too long. We arrived early and grabbed pre-dinner cocktails on the patio, which honestly set the tone for the evening. The fire pit tables + evening atmosphere were perfect. We kept it classic with Old Fashioneds and martinis, and both were very well executed. Simple, balanced, and clearly made by someone who knows what they're doing. There was also a blueberry graham cracker cocktail (can't remember the name, unfortunately) that was surprisingly delicious and easily could've been dessert in a glass. The tasting itself was an 8-course menu and absolutely incredible. Since this was a one-night pop-up, I won't go into detail on the food, but every course was thoughtful, creative, and genuinely delicious. One of those meals where you're excited for the next plate the second the last one's cleared. Service really stood out. The team was attentive without hovering, cleaned up seamlessly between courses, and made sure our drinks were never empty. They also offered solid wine pairings that complemented the menu really well and elevated the experience overall. One extra thing that really sealed it for me: after dinner, the second chef Taylor and the owner/manager Tanner came over and hung out with us for a bit. As someone who's a bit of a foodie nerd, I genuinely appreciate when chefs and operators take the time to talk food, concepts, and the thought behind the menu. It made the experience feel personal and intentional, not just transactional. If this pop-up is any indication of what Rye is capable of, it's definitely a place worth returning to. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and a team that clearly cares about the experience. Would absolutely come back.

Our dining party enjoyed the Chef's tasting menu, which was expertly presented and beautifully prepared. Our server, Trinity, explained each course and was readily available for follow up questions. She was friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of the preparations. Executive Chef Taylor Rause was frequently in the dining room, too, assisting in service and in explanations, sometimes tying the food back to personal experiences, which was delightful to hear and understand. The overarching theme of ancient grains permeated the entire tasting menu, creating a delicious and unifying thread. The small courses ranged from good to outstanding. Standouts for us were a pavé of celery root and green apple with a spelt crisp, a tiny masa tortilla stuffed with turkey chorizo, and a stunningly smoky wagyu spinalis with an unbelievable Bordelaise. A couple dishes missed those high marks a tad, such as a chicken leg with an einkorn biscuit that was light on flavor and a bit under-seasoned. All of us likewise felt the desserts lacked some of the same uniqueness of the previous plates. But these are small quibbles in an otherwise memorable experience that was capped by a brief visit to the kitchen, a good chance to wholeheartedly thank Chef Rause and Chef de Cuisine Jay Vopatek for a great night. High recommended.

I'll be honest, I don't remember exactly what I ordered (lol), but I do remember enjoying the food and the overall vibe, which says a lot. The ambiance is one of my favorite parts--this area is lively, walkable, and full of shops and restaurants all along the same street, making it perfect for a night out or a casual stroll. It's definitely a place I'd bring friends who are visiting from out of state. Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun neighborhood to explore. I'd absolutely come back again.

I was hoping the crispy rice tuna would cure my tuna craving, but the rice was very hard and chewy and I couldn't finish the rice :( my first thought when I took a bite of the tuna was "it tastes like a low quality tuna salad sandwich". It had been sitting out for a while and had an odd taste to it and wasn't fresh. I wouldn't recommend it. I would come back to see how the rest of the food is since the drinks and vibe were great! The service was slow, but kind and helpful.

We were greeted so warmly. The waitress was absolutely excellent - knew the menu like the back of her hand. Brook was her name and her dynamic personality made our experience just wonderful! The ambience is second to none! The handblown glass chandeliers are so charming and colorful! I wish I would have taken some photos. I ordered the veggie flatbread pizza - delicious! My friend ordered the grilled cheese and it looked incredible! The quaint shopping area attached to the restaurant was so much fun! Very unique, one of a kind items. Darling lilttle gift bags with every purchase. The whole experience was just A++++++! I cannot wait to bring my sweet mother there next week. She will be beside herself with joy!

We started with the meatballs, the cheese spread and bread. Both were excellent and big for small plates! Loved the meatballs and Chibbata bread. They were so sweet to let us taste the soups before we ordered, and no lie, they were all great but the cauliflower cashew was our favorite! Not only is it a vegetable but it's vegan as well. Super yummy! Mama had the grilled cheese with tomato soup and I had the BLT. The BLT came in pita bread and was moist and tasty. For dessert I had the fudge brownie and mama had the pear and apple crisp! They were so good we ate them before we could even get a picture. The restaurant is open till 9 at night and has drinks and entertainment too. Our server Brooke was just amazing! She was so helpful with the menu and made sure everything went perfect with the French press coffee I had no idea how to work one. She was a total super star!

First I went for breakfast and was immediately greeted by Marianna. Picked a table right by the window and the restaurant had enough room for a large group and lounge seating too. I ordered the Texas Tacos and my friend got the Bacon biscuit sliders. Both were served within 10 minutes and were made with the customizations we specified. (I wanted egg whites only). Food was tasty and fresh. The ease of ordering, the fact that it wasn't crowded and the pleasant service had me return the next day for lunch. I ordered the Salmon Avocado Toast and tried their Acrylic and Canvas. The avocado was AMAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!! It was so filling, but I didn't feel heavy at all (I ordered fries too... don't judge me). This used to be the NYLO Hotel but it has gone through a much needed renovation and it looks great in there. We got there a little early so we checked out the new Rooftop Bar as it has probably the best view of Downtown Dallas in the city and their new drink menu is LIT AF. We pulled ourselves away from the rooftop bar just in time to make our reservation and I'm glad we did because the place filled up fast. We started out with a Hummus and Kale chips as my wife gets hummus anytime it is on the menu and she said it is one of the best she's had. We went there for the Tapas though and they didn't disappoint either. If you are an aficionado of Tapas, this is your kind of place. All in all, service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great.
