Paradiso is a fun, kitschy joint in the most eclectic neighborhood in Dallas. The Bishop Arts hood feels more like you're in Chicago or New York because of the refreshing and welcoming diversity. Paradiso has a unique feel because it has as much well-designed space outside as it does inside. The patio area feels more like a garden than patio. Even in the crazy Dallas heat you'll find people eating or cocktailing al fresco. The bar area is beautiful. It's covered in flowers and fun European style furniture. The bartenders were knowledgeable and fun to hang with because they clearly enjoy talking about their craft. Nothing worse than a bartender that is too important to chat it up with their customers. I had a delicious signature recipe called Dreaming of Suze (pic 2). It immediately caught my eye because Suze is a staple in our bar. It's a yellow French bitter liqueur you don't regularly find out at restaurants. I've never seen anyone infuse it. They complemented Mezcal with strawberry-infused Suze, sage syrup, lime and strawberry puree served in a tall glass over ice. It was a nice summer recipe and one I will definitely try to recreate at home. My second was a classic old fashioned made with Basil Hayden bourbon (pic 4) It was delicious and well-balanced. I've had bad service across three visits. I've given Paradiso three chances now (not because of my choosing), and each one confirmed what neighbors and friends had already warned me about. Visit 1: Our group's reservations for multiple tables somehow weren't in the system. After a wait, they crammed all of us into one crowded table. My drink order got messed up, and when I pointed it out, the waiter argued with me about it even though everyone at the table backed me up and could see the drink he described didn't match what I'd ordered or what others with the same drink had received. I was charged for both the wrong drink and the "remade" one. Getting it corrected required a call the next day, and they made that unnecessarily difficult too. Visit 2 (Bastille Day): They were listed as a stop on the passport event but charged full price for drinks anyway, which defeats the purpose of participating. I got my stamp and left without getting any of their drinks. Visit 3: Back with a different dinner group from the first visit the next day after Bastille Day. The host at the door was rude and wouldn't acknowledge me as he only spoke to certain people in line. A short haired female hostess walked the group to a table with 5 seats. Everyone else sat down and when I asked (I'm currently injured) if a chair could be added to our table, the hostess refused to seat me, even after I showed her the reservation was actually for 7 people, not 5. She argued with me about the reservation and told me to sit at the bar, ask someone in my group to leave, or leave myself. I left upset. I tried to flag down the first host on my way out of their outdoor patio and he once again ignored me completely. I ended up at another restaurant nearby, and staff there confirmed unprompted that Paradiso has a bad reputation and that I wasn't missing much, since the food is overpriced and bland. That tracks: the pizza and carrot cake I'd had there before were unremarkable, and friends telling me their chicken masala was bad. Came here to dine with a girlfriend after hearing all the buzz on social media. The interior and vibes are absolutely to die for, but other than the decor everything else just sort of felt flat. The hostess was a bit rude, the place was not busy at all and she sat us in the back corner where there was no airflow in the heat of Dallas summer. I politely asked if we could move and she said to give her a minute and walked away and continued seating others when there were plenty of empty tables open. The man serving seemed completely uninterested and not hospitable. As for the food, it tasted better than I had expected for a trendy "instagrammable" restaurant. This was my second time at Paradiso after a visit 3 years ago left a bad taste in my mouth. I had a terrible experience and honestly didn't feel a need to come back, but my mom wanted to come here for her birthday brunch yesterday so I thought why not give it a second chance. The other reviews are spot on in terms of lack of parking-- make sure you definitely give yourself enough time to park your car if you don't plan on using valet because Bishop Arts is honestly always busy no matter what day you go. This restaurant is a great photo op for the girlies! It's super beautiful and the decor just transports you to another place- you forget you're even in Dallas, it's so gorgeous. Our server only stopped by our table to take our food/ drink orders, but honestly, don't expect any great super over-the-top service here. It's nice and all, but no one seemed to be going above and beyond or even trying to provide a super memorable experience for their customers. I don't even remember our servers name. The food was good. We had ordered the Marinated Burrata ($18) with strawberry jelly/jam which was surprisingly a yummy combo. The sourdough was burnt though (lol) not "toasted" like described on the menu. For our mains, I got the Avocado Eggs Benedict ($19) and my mom got the Shrimp Salad ($24) and both were genuinely good! My sister brought me here for my birthday. The staff didn't really acknowledge it but that's ok! It late on a Tuesday and we were sat immediately since they weren't busy. Our server was nice but didn't come by enough imo, and our hostess noticed and took our drink orders at the beginning. I will say that he was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. As always the space is beautifully decorated, with soft pinks and flowers flowing down from the bar ceiling. The food was delicious. I loved my pasta and how unique it was. Those thick noodles were cooked to perfection. My sister has a sensitive stomach and was happy that the pork chops were yummy AND didn't trigger her digestive issues. He was never able to check on us after the food arrived and my steak tartar was flavorless. So i had to finally get up to find some salt. We chose Paradiso to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday, and for a first visit, it was an overall good experience with a few notable highs and lows. First, be prepared for parking. The roads are very tight, and I ended up using valet, which is an added expense but probably the easiest option. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere transported you somewhere tropical. The décor is vibrant, colorful, and perfect for taking photos. While waiting for the rest of our party (our reservation was for 10 but we ended up with 8), the hostess kindly explained that we would be seated once everyone arrived and invited me to wait either at the outdoor high-top tables or inside at the bar. I chose outside so I could take pictures. While I was waiting, a manager (I believe his name was Gustavo) introduced himself and offered to make sure my mom received a complimentary birthday drink. That thoughtful gesture immediately stood out and set a welcoming tone for the evening. Once our full party arrived, we were seated promptly at our 6:30 reservation time. I'm very particular about cleanliness, so one thing immediately caught my attention. Although the table had been cleared, the seats still had food residue from the previous guests, and the floor beneath our table had not been swept. I asked our server, Chelsea, if it could be cleaned before we sat down. Unfortunately, the request seemed to be met with irritation rather than hospitality, and first impressions matter. The menu isn't large, but it offers enough variety without being overwhelming. Since it was our first visit, I asked for recommendations, but our server wasn't really able to guide us through the menu. As a kosher pescatarian, I ordered the Striped Sea Bass ($31) along with the Dreaming of Suze cocktail ($16). The cocktail was beautifully presented, although I requested light ice and received a full glass of ice instead. I also ordered tea, but it lacked flavor and tasted more like water. The sea bass itself left me wanting more. While there were two fillets, they were quite thin and served with the skin on. The highlight of the dish was actually the chickpea minestrone underneath the fish, which was flavorful and enjoyable. I don't mind paying premium prices for a meal, but I do expect the food to justify the cost, and this one simply didn't quite get there for me. Service also played a role in my overall rating. Our server was polite but fairly mediocre and lacked the warmth and personality that elevate a dining experience. With automatic gratuity added for larger parties, I couldn't help but feel that the service didn't reflect the required 20% tip. I always tip, but exceptional service should accompany exceptional gratuity. The reason this review is four stars instead of three is Gustavo. His attentiveness, kindness, and genuine care throughout the evening made a lasting impression. Before leaving, I made it a point to thank him personally because great hospitality deserves to be recognized. While Paradiso probably isn't a restaurant I'll return to because it doesn't align well with my dietary preferences, my mom thoroughly enjoyed celebrating her birthday there and said she would happily come back. If you're looking for a lively, tropical atmosphere with beautiful décor that's perfect for a girls' outing or celebration, Paradiso is certainly worth experiencing. read more

Nina (my dog) has been shown so much love and warmth from the staff who were so kind to give her a water bowl with ice and when it got empty, refilled it with no complaint. Paradiso is amazing! I had the great pleasure of dining here for brunch with a friend for the first time last weekend while we were visiting the Bishop Arts District. From the spacious patio and stunning interior decor to the warm and welcoming host and servers and the delicious food, everything about this restaurant is spot on. I had the very tasty Chicken Paillard and ordered a side of the rosemary-garlic Parmesan fries (which I flat out devoured), and my friend said her turkey melt was top notch. We enjoyed leisurely conversation and appreciated the fact that our server didn't rush us through the meal (leaving extra time for people-watching). I couldn't get over the gorgeous colorful parasols and greenery hanging from the ceiling and the overall bright and airy decor. We got great recommendations from our server and she was so helpful in making sure the hubs could order a pasta dish with no dairy. He ended up getting a rigatoni dish made without dairy.
