People talking and eating, lite music playing, with great selections. The layout of the restaurant is really nice. I really loved seeing, the pizza prepared and cook, where you are sitting at. I visited Cane Rosso for the first time recently on a friend's recommendation, and overall it was a great experience. The Brussels sprouts were especially delicious, and I would absolutely order them again. They were well-seasoned and paired perfectly with the ricotta cheese, and during Happy Hour all appetizers were $2 off, which was a nice bonus. We also took advantage of the $10 Happy Hour Margarita Pizza, along with a couple of pizzas not included in the deal like the Truffle Shuffle and the Honey Bastard. All of them were solid and flavorful choices. The food came out quickly, the restaurant was clean, and the service was great. Our server, Emma, took excellent care of us and explained their authentic pizza style: a thin, crunchy crust with a perfectly chewy inside. I'm giving this a solid 4 stars instead of 5 simply because while everything was very good, nothing quite wowed me enough to push it into "must-have, can't-stop-thinking-about-it" territory. Cane Rosso ended up being our backup plan after our first choice was closed due to a water issue--and honestly, I'm glad it worked out this way. This was one of my first one-on-one dinners with my daughter without her mom, and I really enjoyed the time together. Cane Rosso turned out to be a great spot for that. That wood fired oven baking pizza right in the center of the restaurant was unique. We started with the meatballs as an appetizer. They were solid--maybe could've been a bit more seasoned--but that didn't stop all three from disappearing quickly. The real challenge came when it was time to choose pizzas. Neither of us could decide, so we planned to split two. That's when our server suggested doing half-and-half pizzas. What started as two pizzas suddenly became four different flavors--such a great way to sample the menu. We went with the Hot Honey Bastard and CMF, plus the Margherita and The Cane Rosso. Since we knew we'd be taking pizza home, we ate our fill and boxed up the rest without regret. Getting there was a little tricky due to nearby construction, but we lucked out with parking right out front. All in all, a very enjoyable meal and experience. This place is a hit or miss. This is my third or fourth time here. I need to be proactive and ask to be seated in the second room, we are always sat by the door and the cold air gets in and hits us straight on. The light above us kept flickering. Our order was taken quickly, however it took a long time to get. I am grateful they even offer it, but the price of vegan cheese, vegan meat, and gluten free crust on top of the pizza price is crazy high. When I got my pizza it was burned, and I felt guilty asking about it, so I ate it... Some times when I come here it is great, but other times it's not great. I just moved to Dallas and was in the mood for pizza, so I ordered from this place on DoorDash to try it out--I'd seen an influencer raving about it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The total came to $37 for a very small pizza (only a few dollars of that was the DoorDash fee), and it honestly tasted like a lower-quality version of Mod Pizza. I can appreciate that it's Neapolitan-style, but when the crust, sauce, vegan cheese, and vegan meat all resemble Mod's--but not as good--it's hard to justify the price, especially with a 3-topping limit and a size barely larger than Mod. I'm glad they offer vegan options, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars. But overall, I'd rather go elsewhere--or just make pizza at home. I love Cane Rosso and always enjoy their pastas and pizzas. Parking for this location is stressful and hard because there's construction and it's on a one way street. I made a reservation for 5 people but we didn't make it in time, but they had plenty of seating. The server was super nice and let us know the kitchen was backed up so it would take a little bit for our food to come out. Honestly, I felt like the food came out pretty quick. We ordered the Truffle Shuffle, Honey Bastard, Carbonara, and Amatriciana. I've had the Honey Bastard and Carbonara before and I love those dishes. I will say the Honey Bastard is kinda greasy and the slices are a little floppy. But the flavors of this pizza is so good, I look past that. The Carbonara is rich and creamy. The noodles have a nice bite to them and the sauce is so delicious. The Truffle Shuffle was yummy too. Less greasy but it was saltier to me. The Amatriciana was yummy. Every time I ask for Dallas recs, Cane Rosso is given as a suggestion, so I was very excited to finally be able to dine here. Parking is super annoying here, because what else can you expect downtown, but I'm sure the other locations have an easier time. But although we made a reservation for Friday at 7pm, it wasn't that busy so we definitely could have been seated right away without one. Better to be safe than sorry though, I suppose. Our server was so friendly, checking in on us and giving us updates on the kitchen's status. We ended up ordering: Carbonara - my fave of the two pastas we got! It was so creamy and cheesy. And not sure if I'm making this up in my own head and mouth, but kind of mushroomy as well. I love that we get to mix in our own yolk too. I don't know how authentic it was, but it sure was delicious! Amatriciana - I think red pasta sauce lovers will be a huge fan of this one. The sauce was really good and had a slight sweetness to it. And the pasta itself was so good. The shape was nice and thick and round. And super bouncy. Honestly if I didn't know it was pasta, I would have thought it was calamari. There's also some super thin and crispy pieces of bacon that give a really fun texture to the dish. Honey Bastard - if you like sweet and savory pizzas, this is your pick! It's cheesy, it's got honey, and it's got a bit of spice to it. Not enough to be labeled as spicy, but enough to give a little kick. The crust on this one , though, was a little more toasted, so I also wasn't as big of a fan because some parts tasted a little burnt. Truffle Shuffle - I'm a big mushroom and truffle fan so this was a no brainer for me. Even before you take a bite, you can smell the truffle. It's so creamy and mushroom, and you still get some meat in each bite, YUM! Overall, everything was really delicious. Although definitely on the saltier side, I was thirsty the rest of the night. But I saw some people order the cheesy garlic bread at other tables and it looked so good. As well as the salads. I would definitely come back to try those. We came from out of town and saw this place was rated high on yelp and it ended up being just 5 minutes from our airbnb. We were seated right away and the waitress was SO nice, she got us extra chips and when I had 3/4 of my soda left before we were about to leave, she brought me a to-go cup of soda which I thought was so incredibly nice and had never happened to me before. The artichoke dip was also very tasty I would just order it without the oil topping next time since it makes it a bit greasy in combo with the chips which were a little greasy as well (I thought the dip actually tasted better the next day because it had time to thicken more) and the pizza had fresh ingredients and delicious pepperoni. VEGETARIAN REVIEW: We visited this location on 8/25/23. We were told to sit anywhere, but as soon as we chose a booth and started to sit down, the same person told us to move and directed us to a another table next to the one we had selected. I thought that was odd, but we moved without question or explanation. They had a few options in "snacks and shares" that were vegetarian. We chose the fried nuggz, which were underwhelming, and easily the worst fried mozzarella I've had. Even worse than Sonic. The order was surprisingly small for an item to be shared, and the amount of cheese compared to breading was disappointing. If I were to go back, I would probably try the burrata and cherries instead. My daughters wanted pasta, but they didn't have even one vegetarian pasta dish. We ended up ordering the Fettucini Alfredo without chicken, a Pizza Margherita (tomato sauce, housemade mozzarella and olive oil), and a pizza Voodoo Mama Juju (spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, roasted peppers, red pepper pesto, housemade mozzarella. The kids had sodas and water, and I had the I'm Your Huckleberry cocktail, which was made with vodka, chambord raspberry, blackberry, grapefruit, and lime. The pizza Margherita was fine, but not the best I've had. The Voodoo Mama Juju was super yummy though, and we would absolutely order that again. The blackberry drink was very refreshing, crisp, and delicious. Our server was Amanda, and she was helpful, charming, and delightful. She knew the menu and made suggestions to accommodate our vegetarian preferences. The restaurant was very clean and so were the bathrooms. The parking is street parking, which isn't usually a problem, but it was this time. There was no charge for it during the time we were there. Unfortunately, we ended up getting parked-in by a couple of men at the bar, and that made us nearly an hour late for the concert that we had driven four hours to see. When you arrive, parking is tricky as the restaurant in located in Deep Ellum. I would recommend parking by the Deep Ellum brewery and walking over. When you enter the restaurant, you can smell the pizza and see the chefs preparing pizzas. We ordered the Caprese Chop salad (Baby heirloom tomatoes, ciligiene, arugula, red onion, pesto, balsamic) and the Honey Bastard pizza (Housemade mozzarella, hot soppressata, bacon marmalade, habanero honey) which are so good that you'll want to order more.
