Chicken spinach alfredo pizza
Kim D.

This is such a cool place with interesting history and good food! The storefront may not look special (aside from the "Egyptian" sign), but the inside has a nice classic pizerria atmosphere. The staff was super nice and attentive. The bruschetta was some of the best I've ever had! My partner and I devoured a chicken spinach alfredo pizza and we would do it again, it was great! I'm very happy that ai checked out this little peice of Dallas history!

Lovers Land pizzas - perfect!

----- Critics Review ----- The last 3 times here over 4 years has been horrible. Failed again tonight. I was with a friend from high school who was in town and he wanted to go to the Mockingbird location because that was the only one in the 70s-80s. My head sank because the Lovers Lane location is perfect!!! I told the waitress specifically, "an all the way pizza, minus mushrooms, triple garlic and extra crispy - so the toppings are toasted. I do not want the toppings in the center like you normally do - I want all toppings to the edge of the crust." Ugh, again - a total failure. Look at the photo! Toppings only in the center. The outer 2 inches is only cheese and garlic. You can barely see any salami or Italian sausage anc onions are everywhere. Almost under cooked - no where close to crispy! (A machine could do better!!) Of course being with my friend I could not complain. So I went to my normal location (Lovers Lane), showed the manager (Derick) the pizza Mockingbird gave me. He knows me and what I like (as does 1/2 of the staff!) He was equally appalled. I ask him to take a photo and send it to the Mockingbird manager and share my story. And throw it in the trash! I choked down 2 baby slices only to be tell my friend I has a late lunch as was full. (Mockingbird - I'LL NEVER GO BACK - EVEN IF YOU OFFER FREE FOOD FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!) Of course Derick offered to make me a replacement pizza - and I refused twice. But when he added a free bourbon and coke... I broke down and said ok - but only a small. (See 2nd photo - a perfect pie!!) Lesson learned. From now on, every friend who pops in town and wants to go to Mockingbird - I will tell them of my last 4 experiences and how Lovers Lane is the VIP place to go! Screw the atmosphere and nostalgia of Mockingbird!!! Avoid Mockingbird at all costs!!! Order Dominos instead (or better - eat in or do a pick up at Lovers Lane!!)

Chicken Marsala

I'd heard great things about this restaurant, especially that it has an old fashioned Italian restaurant aesthetic. As soon as I saw the red padded door at the entrance, I knew I was going to step into a time machine. Sure enough, I walked into a DARK restaurant with red decor. I was charmed! Since it was crowded in the restaurant at the time, it was pretty loud. We stood at the host's stand for a while before a staff member seated us. Our waiter seemed stretched thin. He did his best, but he had to tend to so many different tables. I had to ask another waiter for silverware & napkins. However, our waiter did check in and made sure we had what we needed. The food was okay. The dinner salad was way over dressed, the bread was hard and my Marsala bland. The portion sizes are enormous, so you will not leave hungry. Overall, Campisi's was a great experience while visiting Dallas, but probably not a place I'd return to.

Pork chop with garlic spinach

Since this place already has so many reviews, I'm going to just hit the high spots: I have been to the Mockingbird location 5 or 6 times in the past three months. Service has always been very good. If you're not familiar with the pork chop, you're missing out. I almost hate to recommend it as I consider it a solid value for the price and you won't go hungry. It comes with the house salad which I love, and garlic wilted spinach which is awesome. Sometimes with a larger party we get a small Italian sausage and black olive with jalapeno pizza as an appetizer and I love the thin crust! Delicious! Atmosphere in the central dining room with the bar and the Club room are both awesome, vintage Campisi's vibe. The big room to the left is ok, sort of a lite version of the other rooms. Glad it's there for when they are busy as it cuts down on wait time to have so many more tables.

Pasta combo Lunch special

The food and service was really good which made me happy although I do have to say the prices were a bit High, they do have lunch pricing which made it a little bit more palatable. All in all I enjoyed myself and like I said the food was good so I was happy when I left. If I was going to make a complaint it would be that all the menus we were handed were dirty. Which isn't too big of a deal I guess but the reason they were probably dirty is because it was so dark in the restaurant that the waitresses probably couldn't see that they were dirty. Now it being dark isn't necessarily a complaint, it's just not my personal preference. All in all it was a good experience and I plan on taking my in-laws there next time they visit *Poor *Decent *Ok *Good *Great *Best *JLFoodie Certified Prices. Decent Food. Great Service. Good Cleanliness. ok Consistency. Good Variety. Great Value. Good

Margherita Pizza with a side of meatballs.

We shared a Margherita pizza that was perfectly made. I ate a meatball appetizer which could have served as a full meal, and it was delicious. The food is always to my liking. I eat at the Mockingbird location when I'm catching a movie at the Angelika at Mockingbird Station. The atmosphere is much like an old speakeasy, dark and quiet. We'll be back.

Italian style crab claws

Best Italian food in DFW! My parents introduced me to this historic restaurant in 1962. I've been a loyal patron ever since! The legacy of Joe and Marie Campisi continues. They were lovely people who made you feel like one of the family. Tonight my family dined in the famous circular booth in the corner. The dark and romantic atmosphere is unparalleled. Service was outstanding and every detail was perfect. The drinks from the bar were well prepared. The appetizers were hot and fresh. Don't forget Joe's Special Garlic Toast. The Italian Crab Claws are to die for. Main dishes ordered were the lasagna, eggplant Parmigiana, and the " All the way Pizza". The salads were fresh and crisp. If you want authentic Italian cuisine and decor, look no further.

We were in the area and it was around dinner time so we decided to check this place out. We had been to other locations but the ambience and history of this location had us intrigued. It did not disappoint. It was like stepping back in time. the decor and booths where straight from the 50s (LOVED IT!) place was packed on a Saturday evening around 5:15. (we joined the wait list while in route via yelp app!) We got seated on arrival and ordered a house wine. (It was delish!) We each got a plate with a salad and bread. The portions where large so we had leftovers. Staff was very nice and professional. ( the ONLY issue was it was so dark inside LOL took a while for eyes to adjust!) Add it to the love list

Campisi's has been around for a long time. This location is cozy and dark. The food and atmosphere are always great. The pizza and pasta are very good although I think the crust may have changed a bit over the years.

Toasted ravioli

Ah, the flavors of childhood. I've been eating here my whole life, so it all tastes like italian food should to me. I'm much more jaded than I was thirty years ago, but this food is exactly the same, like an old friend. The crust on the pizzas is crisp, with little or no sourdough flavor. The pasta is cooked a little past al dente. The sauces are perfection.

To begin, I would not recommend using their valet even though it is free, because they seem to only have one person working it so it takes forever for them to take your car. We had to wait for over 10 minutes for the valet guy to come back to his post, meanwhile I'm stopped in the middle of the street with car having to drive around me. It would have been much faster to just park in their garage which is also free for I think 2 hours once validated by the restaurant. The valet also didn't have a system for keeping track of the cars, no key tag, number to text, or anything, he just asked for my name and said he would remember me. That didn't seem like the safest process to me. Not to mention, when we picked our car up he just gave me the key to drive it off from the space myself instead. Valet aside, the restaurant was really nice inside and had good balance of not quite fine dining, but also not too casual, which is what I was looking for. They also decorated for the holidays and the red bows overhanging were a nice touch. As an Italian restaurant, they had plenty of pasta options however our entire table decided to go with the waitress recommended Pollo Parmesan. I think we all were interested in the fact that it contained both red and white sauce, so it allowed us to have the best of both worlds. I wasn't sure how it would mix well at first, but it ending up complementing each other nicely. Lastly, the ladies also appreciate that they provided a bag hanger for their purses. I would like to come back to try their other dishes, I just won't waste time using valet again.

From the moment…read moreyou walk in, the space feels cozy, warm, and so thoughtfully designed - perfect ambiance for a great night out. Free valet out front so parking was easy. But what really made the experience unforgettable was our server, Leigh. She went above and beyond in every way possible. She didn't just explain the menu- she told a story. From the background of the owner to the details of each dish, you could tell how much care and passion went into everything. She checked in at all the right moments, made sure we had everything we needed, and genuinely cared that we loved each bite. And the food... wow. It transported me to Italy. We started with the arugula salad with bresaola dressed with lemon - super refreshing - paired with the arancini. The bread dipped in the sauce was insane: perfectly crisp on the outside, with rich, flavorful rice inside. We shared the triangoli ravioli stuffed with ricotta and topped with mushroom, hazelnut, and parmesan, and it was incredible. The hazelnut added the perfect crunch and nutty depth. Then came the tagliatelle with wagyu bolognese--perfectly balanced, rich, and made even better with clearly homemade pasta. We finished savory dishes with the veal saltimbocca, and I swear it made me feel like I was sitting in Rome. The sauce was incredible, and the sage really brought everything together. But the true showstoppers? Dessert. My Italian grandma said the cannolo was the best she's ever had - and that says everything. Light, crisp, and not overly sweet. Then the chocolate dessert with olive oil and sea salt... I went in for two bites and somehow finished the entire thing without realizing. Easily the best chocolate dessert I've ever had. This place is out of this world. Would order all of these dishes again. In a city full of restaurants, this is one I will come back to every single time I'm in Dallas. Absolutely 5 stars. Brava.

I visited on a Wednesday evening with a comfortably moderate crowd; on busier nights you may want a reservation. I started with the fried calamari and a glass of wine. Service was quick, attentive, and happy to offer food and wine pairing suggestions. For dinner I ordered the tortellini vodka, which was perfectly seasoned with a rich, flavorful sauce. Barsotti's is absolutely worth a visit. Casual yet elegant, right in the heart of North Oak Lawn.

Presumably meaning wine, but we were considering cocktails and a bit confused by the question. He said "I'll come back when you're ready," and disappeared for the first of many long absences. From the beginning it felt like we were ruining his life. He was cheerless and curt and wouldn't make eye contact with anyone. It would be more understandable if the restaurant was super busy or understaffed. But this was Monday at 6 pm. We listed a birthday on the reservation, but it wasn't acknowledged. Why bother to ask if we are celebrating? We waited for empty plates and glasses to be cleared between courses. We waited a long time for him to return so we could order a second glass of wine. Even longer for the plates to be cleared and longer still for the opportunity to order dessert...a piece of cake for the birthday girl and two after dinner drinks...but the drinks weren't picked up from the bar when the cake was delivered, and only remembered when we asked for the check. We watched him pick them up (well after the cake was consumed) on his way to leave the bill. No mention that they had been overlooked, no thank you, no good night. This was our first time at Barsotti's and it will be our last. Aside from the awful service, we had issues with the food as well. The veal was pounded paper thin and fried hard resulting in a tough, chewy texture similar to dried beef or jerky. It was dry and overcooked on two different dishes. On a more positive note, we enjoyed the fried ravioli appetizer and the redfish was fine. While our waiter was largely MIA and unpleasant when he did show up, the bus boy/assistant was gracious and attentive. Maybe he was trying to compensate for his colleague. BTW, the offensive employee was in his late 40s to mid 50s with a slight build and salt and pepper hair.
