During our visit, we stumbled upon this charming, quaint restaurant, and I'm so glad we did. It was a Saturday evening, and despite not having a reservation, we were lucky enough to find two seats at the bar. We were immediately welcomed by Logan, who took our drink order and offered several recommendations, including the avocado salad. To die for! As we sat there, I couldn't help but notice how seamlessly the bartending team worked together. Watching them was truly impressive. The space behind the bar was limited, yet they moved in perfect harmony, never bumping into one another, always anticipating what needed to happen next, and effortlessly picking up where the other left off. It was like watching a beautifully choreographed performance. That evening, Logan was working alongside Kevin and Amanda, and together they made the experience exceptional. We ordered the scallops for dinner, and they were absolutely outstanding. Before leaving, I felt compelled to tell Logan how much we had enjoyed our experience and how fascinating it was to watch their teamwork in action. That's when he shared that it was actually the first night the three of them had ever worked together behind the bar. Honestly, I was shocked. Grilled salmon fattoush was great - yogurt sumac was a solid touch to mix with the sweet peppers/cucumber and gave a great contrast to the savory, crispy salmon. They have a dedicated bar area if you want to grab a drink. Want to highlight they have a solid drink menu; I tried a cold pressed pineapple juice that was super refreshing. For food, we tried the grilled shrimp salad and egg sandwich. The sandwich stood out; great flavors, crispy potatoes, tho a tiny bit over salted. Everything was good, service was friendly, and the space is adorable. The focaccia was good but skippable, highly recommend the pork belly watermelon salad. That was my favorite dish. Had a good meal stopping in on a work trip. Started with the mussels good and slightly spicy, wanted a little more kick but they entered the clean plate club regardless. Did bite into a piece of hard gristle which had me nervous for my tooth for a second, but we move on lol. The scallops were the highlight perfectly cooked with a sweet citrus flavor that blended really well. Finished with the sticky toffee pudding, only complaint is I wish the serving was bigger(because it's too good). We came here to celebrate a birthday with drinks and the staff was amazing even though we didn't order food. They even brought the birthday girl a dessert. I got their spicy hibiscus margarita which was so tasty, all of their drinks were good and our whole party was happy. We also tried their cold pressed juices. I got their beet juice to go and it was authentic and I truly got my money's worth. If you like seafood this is the place to go but they also have an extensive bar. I will be back. read more

I will admit walking by this restaurant many times when I'm in Bishop Arts and it's only recently that I finally found out the last word in the title is Seasons not Stars. This Michelin recommended restaraunt is no joke however, as it's home to a great selection of seasonal offerings, to delight any palette. My friend and I split the dishes we ordered between us and I highly recommend doing so as the portions can be large, depending on the item. We selected the Butternut Squash Foccacia (with an herb olive oil). This bread is pretty heavenly as it's soft but slightly flaky, paired with the olive oil it melts in the mouth. Secondly, we ordered the Kimchi Pancakes (scallion, daikon radish and sprouts) and the Spicy Korean Glass Noodles (with mushrooms, bok choy, scallions, soy-ginger sauce, peppers, and a sambal). Overall I'd say the last dish wasn't my favorite because the sauce was a bit on the runnier side for my liking, but I enjoyed the kimchi pancakes, especially the dip that comes with it. For drinks, we both ordered the same cocktail; Spicy Hibiscus Margarita (Don Fulano Blanco Tequila, hibiscus concentrate, lime, agave, and jalapeño) and I really enjoyed it even though it was a whopping $19 each. I can't believe I used to walk right past this place! Now I'm wondering why I waited so long. We came for Galentine's Day dinner and it was absolutely phenomenal. The food was incredible. Portions are generous, so we split a few appetizers and shared a main, which ended up being perfect. Every single dish was thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. One of my favorite parts (and this might sound funny) was the atmosphere. It was lively but not overwhelmingly loud like so many restaurants that morph into clubs as the night goes on. This felt like a true dining experience, a place that genuinely wants you to slow down, enjoy your food, connect with your people, and savor the moment. The service was equally impressive. We asked our server for recommendations and simply trusted her and she did not miss. Every suggestion was spot on. We ordered the pork chop as our main, fully expecting it to be a little dry (as pork chops often are), and it was anything but. It was tender, flavorful, and honestly one of the best surprises of the night. I rarely order pork chops, and now I'm rethinking that decision. It's easy to see why this is a Michelin-recommended farm-to-table restaurant. From the food to the service to the ambiance, everything felt intentional and elevated. We came here last night and we had a fabulous time! At first the ambiance was busy which is a good sign, it means good food and I'd say that is accurate because the food was divine. Our waitress took good care of us. We did come in super hungry because we usually eat around 7ish and our reservation was at 8:30. Our waitress wanted us to know our entire order before putting anything in so it was a lot of pressure at first. We started off with the kimchi pancake and I didn't get to take a photo because I was starving we devoured it. Nevertheless, it has a good spice and nice texture. Then our main entrees came. Hubby got the duck confit which had a wonderful pairing of sweet coconut sticky rice with the spicy duck. The oven grilled grape sort of freaked him out a bit though Then I got the day boat scallop and it's one of the best scallops I've had to date. Scallops were perfectly cooked and had a sweet and savory flavor in itself, while the bacon added a wonderful savory flavor addition to it. I got so full so I ended up taking half of it home. Our waitress apologized for the food taking long so she treated us to a wonderful dessert. It was a merengue cookie with some fruits! It was so delicious and light! The restaurant itself is open, modern and very great vibe for a weekend dinner. Our server (Jojo I think?) was great. Gave us some great recommendations and overall was prompt with a great personality. To start the yellowfin crudo was delish! Had a fresh raspberry purée with great flavors. We also got the focaccia that was light and flavorful. My husband got the duck confit that was good. Warm, comforting with bold curry flavors. I got the glass noodles with salmon. The fish was great and the noodles had fresh vegetables and good miso flavors. The noodles were kind of hard to eat given the texture, but tasty. I really enjoyed written by the seasons! It wasn't my fanciest Michelin rec'd experience, but the vibes were very good. I was in town and made the reservation in the afternoon and did not have any issue (although I did have to call to make the res - the Resy website did not allow me to make a dinner res for 1 person at any time, they told me on the phone it is a glitch). When I arrived that evening the place was packed, it was very busy! The area itself is popular and fun, so that adds to the vibe. There is only street parking, no lots. I was there on a Friday evening, so the only spot I barely found was about 2.5 blocks away (I got it as someone was leaving luckily)! Plan accordingly~ I had a cocktail called their summer tonic and requested they make it a bit sweeter since it's a dry drink. It was perfect! And the bartender (I believe his name was Logan) was also great - very attentive and helpful with recs. For dinner I had the day boat scallops with risotto and veg ($48); a bit pricey but the plate had me full by the end so overall pretty good value. And as a last note, there are individual room bathrooms - they are very clean. Overall wasnt totally blown away by my experience, but found everything to be quite favorable. This place has been open for a couple of years now and had been on my list of places to visit FOREVER. Well, my friend decided to have her 40th birthday dinner here so I FINALLY got a chance to check it out. We had a reservation for 7 people on a Friday night. We were sat immediately on the outside patio. The place is so cute and small, and the location is everything (Bishop Arts). All the food and drinks we ordered were great. Our server was also amazing. My only complaint is that things took FOREVER to come out. To give you an example of timing and how backwards our orders were, we had two friends join us an hour after we sat down and their wine came out before our cocktails. Amazing restaurant, service was wonderful. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating for our 1.5 yr old. The only downside to this place is that it's not the most family friendly for little ones. When we got there we asked for a high chair but they said they only have one, which was in use by another party. At the time it didn't bother us too much since he was still asleep in his car seat but it made us feel very awkward. It was pouring rain and they mentioned they would have to run across the street to Paradiso to get a high chair from them since they apparently share resources. An interesting setup but it was slightly unprofessional to guilt trip us for wanting a perfectly reasonable accommodation that could be found at your nearest Chili's. I can't knock the food because it was delicious, from appetizers to dessert. Hopefully next time they'll have more than one high chair on standby! read more

We dined at Written by the Seasons in Bishop Arts last night, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. Things got off on the wrong foot when our server forgot my cocktail order and an appetizer which was the pork ribs. Minutes after ordering the cocktail, appetizer and a bottle of wine our server came back saying we needed to order every dish up front. At that moment we told them we do like to take our time and share dishes as they come out one by one and he honestly seemed happy to hear that. They then brought the wine but the cocktail was again completely forgotten. One of our other items showed up fist (kimchi pancakes), which I will say were great, but we then asked about the ribs and he confirmed he completely forgot about them. He said he put the ribs in as a rush and they would come out with one other dish. We said this would be fine, but not minutes after the ribs arrived all four other dishes showed up simultaneously. Our table was overcrowded, and it completely took away from the leisurely dining experience we were expecting. To make matters worse, two of the dishes--the baby carrots and the Korean glass noodles, were swimming in sauce, so much so we didn't want to eat them. While this may not be the case we felt rushed. We had received all of our food in less than an hour. The overall service made us feel like the restaurant was trying to turn the table as quickly as possible for the next reservation rather than provide a thoughtful dining experience. For a restaurant at this price point and pedigree, we expected much better pacing, attention to detail, and execution. Unfortunately, this visit fell well short of those expectations. read more

Menu is always great, but there's lots of good food in DFW -- it's the service and attention to detail that truly stand out and take this restaurant to five stars for me. My wife asked for guidance on the wine menu, and the server raved about a very "left field" bottle that sounded a bit adventurous to pair with our dinner, so we went with a more traditional choice. Later in the meal, the server brought us a complimentary glass of the other wine just because she wanted us to experience it. She was right, it was fantastic and we'll definitely buy a bottle next time :) read more

My wife and I had dinner at Written by the Seasons Tuesday evening and thought we would share our experience. The service and the food were average and unspectacular. After leaving the restaurant we noticed that they had added a 3% credit card processing fee to their bill. There was no notification on the menu or any signage in the restaurant regarding the surcharge. I tried to call them regarding the charge but they do not answer their phone. I emailed them regarding the charge and did not receive a response. We will not be returning. The surprise surcharge is at minimum poor business practice. Most restaurant bills are paid by credit card so they indirectly increased their prices by 3%. They should raise their prices if they are not making enough money. Nickel and diming your customers with unnecessary fees will probably leave you with less customers. Their end result is a former customer who will tell anyone willing to listen, what a bad overall experience it was to dine there. read more

Joined my client and his family for lunch last Friday. Beautiful day, so we were seated outside. Our server was outstanding and attentive to all of our needs. The out-of-town family shared Spicy Korean Glass Noodles, Grilled Shrimp and Avocado Salad and Seafood Stew which they thoroughly enjoyed. We have been wanting to stop by here for quite a while and are glad we did. Parking is a little tough but that's just the area it's in. The restaurant was full but nice and tables were spaced so it didn't feel crowded. Our waitress, Ellie, was great. She was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Very very good! Our food was excellent as well! We got the focaccia bread starter, trout fritters, and pork belly small plate, and then the duck confit, and cod for our entrees. Everything was very tasty and we loved it all! So my sorority sister and I went out for lunch. Still fairly new to the Dallas Area, she recommended Bishop Arts. After we found parking the original plan was " tacos" but all that changed when we saw this " Cute ,quaint, airy restaurant space. Our servers name was Samantha"Sam", she was very chill and since this was our first time trying the restaurant she explained the regular menu which is curated every couple of months as well as the happy hour menu. It was a long week we chose burgers and I'm grateful. They were so filling and fresh, the veggies were amazing and crisp, and don't even get me started in the salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing. What a refreshing meal! You can truly taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The salmon crudo was so bright, with the perfect balance of tart and spice. The chili-glazed pork belly was a little on the heavier side (to be expected) but paired well with the cucumber salad. I also got a mimosa with beet ginger juice ($10 during happy hour). My wife and I went here. One of our beloved restaurants closed. Origin. Some of the origin staff moved over here. Food was amazing, the staff were impeccable, the whole vibe and atmosphere was upscale. This may be our new date night spot. The photos I took did not do it justice. Our waitress Leigh did a fabulous job answering all our questions and giving recommendations. We visited during their summer menu and had the heirloom tomato's with bread, hamachi crudo, and the grilled shrimp with avocado as our starts. They were all incredible, we could have licked the plates. Our large plate, we had to try and scallops, and were not disappointed. The best we've ever had. So, my friend made reservations here for dinner. I quickly went to the website to look at the menu and get an idea of what I wanted....... I wanted everything Here's my take away. This establishment is very nice. It's like everything is fresh. From farm to table! From the hand towels, appetizers, salads main course, desserts, libations....you can't go wrong. You will need to be prepared to pay as one as there is not individual ticket per person. It wasn't a problem for us because we knew this from reading the menu and it's explained before ordering. The scenery inside and out is so peaceful and picturesque but honestly you kinda forget about all of that because you are enjoying your fellowship over great food. I have three stars for the ambiance, however, regardless of having a reservation, we were sat outside which was NOT our request. The food was so basic and bland I was taken aback. The menu seemed to be so interesting but every single dish fell short. The bread was honestly delicious, but the hamachi was fishy, the tomato dish was ... good, not great. The carrots were OVER seasoned and sauced, and they actually poured me the WRONG wine but played it off instead of replacing it. I confirmed it by requesting a sample of the one I actually ordered which was different. Overall best thing my husband and I tried was the cinnamon roll for a starter. This is the BEST brioche roll with decadent cream cheese frosting and to top it off is caramel. It was just the right amount of sweet without being too much. I had the glass noodles which very spicy but still had flavor. Next time I would get a little less spicy but I am glad it had great texture and absolutely great taste.
