Please be aware that the use of AI for correspondence diminishes the credibility of your message. While we value the opportunity to connect with you, we cannot guarantee a return reply." If the way you craft your comment or complaint does not suit this company, they will simply choose not to reply. I understand this restaurant chain is all about pleasantries; however, I will skip them. How is it that this CHAIN literally dictates customer attire, behavior and now whether or not someone uses AI, yet management ignores a serious concern with food safety? After getting sick from an undercooked French dip at Hillstone's in Houston, I was naive I was enough to eat at this location for NYE. I understood the salmon would be cooked medium. Towards the end, it was almost completely raw with lukewarm, congealed polenta and soggy broccolini with too much salt and grated cheese. Bleh. ...And the mediocre carrot cake was $15, which is obscene. Post all your prices. If I dine out, I expect the cooking to be superior to my own. Never again. read more

Came to R&D Kitchen with a group of 6 and were seated at a table that clearly had enough physical space for all of us. After sitting down, the hostess informed us that only 5 people were allowed at the table -- despite there being more than enough room to comfortably fit 6. It wasn't explained in a way that made sense, and there was zero flexibility. No attempt to accommodate, no problem-solving, just a flat "no." For a restaurant that positions itself as polished and guest-focused, this felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. Restaurants are in the hospitality business. When a group is ready to dine and spend money, the response shouldn't feel like you're enforcing airline carry-on rules. It left a bad first impression before we even ordered drinks. The open concept kitchen confirms violation of several health codes. Extremely unaccommodating for families or anyone that doesn't fit their "ideal" clientele. Atrocious to see a restaurant be pretentious and discriminatory. Will not allow some patrons to dine because of "dress code" and yet I've seen 100 brave women over the years dining here in head to toe athleisure. First come first serve at the bar and no help from staff which leads to patrons hovering over diners at busier hours. My husband (who is a doctor) once tried to move a barstool over one spot so I could sit down at nine months pregnant next to him and they wouldn't allow it while we waited for a table. They always rush you out of your seat and will ask you to leave if there's a wait. They'll tell harmless children to keep it down, yet I've seen adults be belligerent at the bar on countless occasions. Speaking at a volume that was far from civilized. Don't you dare bring a doona in here. $6 for 3 sad little soggy deviled eggs. I relish the days when it was 5 and they were piled high. Try any other restaurant within Preston Center and take a pass on this one. Muchachos and Il Bracco are both on this strip - far better hospitality, and dishes. read more

We had an amazing time at R+D Kitchen! The ambiance is warm yet not too formal and our service was excellent. All of the food we got was recommended by the staff and it was fantastic. I highly recommend starting with the dip duo (guacamole and pimento cheese). The fried chicken sandwich was delicious with a perfectly crispy chicken breast with nice mustard and toppings. The rainbow roll was also excellent. To top it off, we got the banana pie which was great. Tip- ask for it with hot fudge. We will for sure come back to R+D Kitchen! I'm Hillstone's biggest fan, so I was excited to try R+ D. It's a quaint restaurant, with friendly staff. Overall the food was good but I would have thought they would carry over similar offerings and service as their sister restaurant. We ordered the Pine salad which was super Fresh and it paired so well with the vinaigrette and shaved almonds. For our mains we ordered the Carnitas sandwich, the meat was on the cold end, felt like a little deli style-- wasn't the best sandwich. Also I was shocked to know that the sandwiches don't come French fries, the added expensive it's almost $30 for both things. Ugh no thank you, Next! Also tried the stacked sushi, I hated that I had to wait to eat as wasabi wasn't added to the plate. I felt they missed alot of little details telling you fries aren't included, not asking for a refill on your beer, and the wasabi. Expected a little more from this place. read more

We tried this place recently for lunch as it was recommended by several people at work. Make sure to give yourself 10-15 min to circle the parking lot and find a spot and walk to the restaurant. Parking is extremely limited. We had a reservation at 12:15. We checked in at 12:12 and didn't get seated until 12:32. Not a great start, but the food was pretty good. We started with the deviled eggs and rainbow roll. Both had great flavor. My wife tried the tuna salad sandwich and I ordered the Little Mo. Both were tasty and a good portion size. We tried a side of the shrimp and grits as well, which were good. Overall, it was good, but with the parking and the wait, we don't need to hurry back. read more

Definitely a good spot that hits the upscale but still casual vibe right on the head. Modern inside but not excessively so. Not a huge amount of seating, and definitely not a spot I'd take a large group. The biggest tables I could see looked like they'd be comfortable for 5 or 6. The hostess and waitress we saw were great, super friendly. Our waitress also had good recommendations and was helpful walking us through the menu. Their crisp martini was genuine very refreshing, especially considering the amount of booze it carries. I got the spicy tuna roll for dinner, which was definitely solid. The crisp jicama was a nice addition and the tuna was clearly fresh and good tasting. I would go for something else next time but it is a solid plate. The drinks are kind of on the pricey end at around 17/18 per cocktail, but the food is relatively reasonable with most sushi in the 17-22 dollar range. Other places were also reasonably priced. The food here is always amazing from the sushi to salads to the entrees and the desserts! On our last visit there we had the best Customer Service ever! We had a reservation for dinner, and there were a few tables taking extra time at their tables, so we were set a little late. They apologised profusely and treated us to a free appetizer. Our waitress, Aliyah, was very friendly knowledgeable and provided the best customer service to us! The food was so good and so was the fudge sundae they brought to us on the house! I made a reservation 30 days in advance. I'm currently handicapped, recovering from spinal fusion surgery, have 33 screws in my back and am wearing a back brace and using a walker. I selected "wheelchair" online and called R+D ahead to request a table since I can't use booths. The hostess assured me it wouldn't be an issue and that there would be a table for me within 15 minutes of my reservation time. When I arrived, a table was available, but they seated another group there instead, despite open booths, right in front of me. The hostesses apologized and admitted that they made a mistake. The manager (Blair Beach) was extremely rude, offered no apology, and made me wait 40 minutes past my reservation IN A BACK BRACE. There was no accountability at all. We've dined here 500+ times (at least, probably more). This was unacceptable and reflects poor management. How can you treat a patron customer so poorly as they are recovering from surgery? The manager also called Hillstone and told them to not accept my reservations moving forward - no words express how horrible and spiteful this manager is. How do you treat people this way? read more

They took our food orders and They took my tea and 15 minutes later brought me a new one. You could tell they were understaffed because a manager was taking orders. We got a variety of different food, including the deviled eggs (YUM), the ozuna roll ( YUM x2!), the Asian noodle salad, fried chicken sandwich, and the Thai tuna roll. Fun fact about this restaurant: they started as a Research and Development for their sister restaurant next door but people ended up loving it that here they are! We got the Asian chicken salad and their chicken sandwich as well as a sushi roll and fries. Their sushi's are unique with healthy alternative wraps. Everything is pricey but honestly the flavor was there and their portions are decent. Fried chicken sandwich was delicious but the chicken is extremely thin. I think the tomatoes might have been thicker. Fries were delicious! The service was excellent! Very attentive to us. My only complaint is they didn't have a high chair for us.
