I don't know which came first Sushi Bar or Sushi by Scratch but they're both good. I compare the two restaurants because they both have the same vibe. Sushi Bar also feels like a "speakeasy" sushi place. You go downstairs to eat then after you're done you're led out to a bar. Sushi Bar is a modern sushi restaurant. Modern in terms of the nigiri pieces you get; lots of toppings and sauce. My favorite piece was the toro with shaved foie gras on top... butter on butter. If you like Sushi by Scratch you will like Sushi Bar; or vice versa.

Excellent omakase experience! All fish was very fresh, the chefs do a great job in preparing, educating and entertaining. First you met with pleasant hostess that will ensure all of the allergies and dietary restrictions are noted for you and provide you with delicious sake welcome drink. After the party is all checked in you will be directed to proceed downstairs and take your assigned seats. Everything was delicious. For omakase, added caviar service and 3 drinks I paid 310$ including 22%tip. Just to give you a rough estimate. They also have wine, whiskey and sake pairings. Overall great time!

An amazing Omakase experience, everything was fresh and delicious. We also loved being greeted with a complimentary drink. All the chefs were engaging and fun throughout the experience, explaining each course and striking conversations with each of us. It was so great for it to be a small intimate group and a beautiful room perfect for enjoying the amazing sushi. Great drink, sake and wine options as well. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for an excellent omakase experience, we would love to go back again soon!

Sushi | Bar is an underground omakase bar hidden in the old KRLD building. This secret restaurant is connected to a speakeasy. It's cool, mysterious, imaginative, and an incredible experience you don't want to miss. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars Atmosphere - Finding Sushi | Bar can be an adventure (look for the sidewalk sign pointing to a non-descript door). There is a dimly lit waiting area with a few tables, and the host will check you in and serve you a drink. Once your time comes, you will be led downstairs into the basement where you'll find Sushi | Bar. I felt like I found a hidden gem....it turns out I did. 1 Star. Service - Sushi | Bar's personal service begins as soon as you book your seat on Tock.com. The host will reach out to you asking for details about your party, ask about food allergies, and personalize your visit. Upon checking in, the host greeted me and my guest by name. Then, once seated, the expert sushi chefs take over. Before each bite, your dish is thoroughly explained. A delicious bite + detailed description = an amazing experience. 1 Star. Food - Each omakase seating is different. What remains the same is the use of high quality, unique sushi paired with incredible ingredients. Since every dinner is different, I don't think describing what I ate will do Sushi | Bar and its chef justice. What I'll say is my favorite sushi bite was salmon, but it was a special fatty salmon that was served with a little sprinkle of fried shallots over a trace amount of truffle oil. The single bite was room temperature, soft from the sushi, crunchy from the shallots, with a smooth hint of truffle. You eat each piece by hand, as you are only given a towel to wipe your hands between each bite of sushi. It's not cheap, but it shouldn't be. It's super high quality. 2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes (but only after I save up). If you're reading this review, you're probably deciding if it's worth it. It is. Book it for a very special occasion. Sushi | Bar was one of the most unique experiences in Dallas, and I just need a good excuse to return. 1 Star.

I honestly didn't think any sushi place in DFW could beat Hatsuyuki, but this place was phenomenal - definitely the best choice if you're on the D side of DFW (though for the difference in price, I'll still make Hatsuyuki my go-to). Sushi Bar offers a very intimate unique omakase experience with exquisite flavors and pairings. The atmosphere is quiet but still a bit lively, especially with the frequent interaction (and jokes) from the 3 chefs serving up bite size sushi delights. Honestly, their interaction really elevated the experience and made it more fun and less stuffy than expected. Reservations likely required, include a nonrefundable deposit, and don't expect to leave for under $200/pp if you have anything to drink. But for the occasional reward or celebration? Totally worth it.

    Mocktails!
    Chalin S.

Worth every penny! The food is excellent - add ons are a little expensive but worth the burst of flavour in your mouth! 165/pp + tax etc - then there are pairing options starting from 120++pp They have Mocktails too! Which I absolutely love! When you make a reservation, they ask for your card, it doesn't get charged it's just to hold the resy, but will get charged if you no show :) they text you for names, dietary restrictions and allergies ahead of time. The details and explanation before every bite - elevates the whole experience! The seating is counter seating, relaxed intimate ambiance and an intimate experience for 6 people

I LOVE the omakase here. They have a very modern and unique take on different pieces. I love how they integrate flavors from different cultures into each course.

We had our anniversary dinner here and it did not disappoint! The entrance wasn't hard to find because there was a sign next to the door. The waiting area is a bit rustic and small but we were greeted with a welcome champagne. The entire dinner party was not able to find seats. We were invited to the dining room right at our reservation time. Each bites of the 16 nigiris were truly amazing. We especially enjoyed the unique ways they were seasoned. The one nigiri that we weren't a fan of was a one that had strawberry jam. We were also sad with the amount of uni. Overall, a great experience and can see why people are hyped with sushi bar's omakase. Parking was easy to find and I was not able to find valet parking. May be it was at the front of the building. Nevertheless, we found meter parking which was perfect for our 2-hour dinner. The Ginger bar next door is your way out and looked very pretty to grab a quick drink!

Omg, such a great and fun place! The chefs were fantastic and the sushi was amazing!!! Chutoro was my fav and the otoro with the foie gras topping. Chefs kiss! Worth it over other omakase spots, beats out Yujo, Shoyo 100%, and Tei Tei Robata imo. The experience was very personal, chefs carried on mice comversations, made it feel like everyone was there together. The Sushi again....everything was on point, buttery, citrusy, all had their own unique and fun flavors. Rice itself was great and ive had sushi with dry/bland rice. 100% would go back.

    Marcus R.

Such a great take on the omakase experience. The group of chefs not only make the experience educational, but also quite fun! A beautiful course of dishes, in a beautiful environment. Love that this leads into the speakeasy next door as well.

Okay okay okay... 2nd visit here was something special. This is very easily becoming a top favorite of ours for Omakase experiences we've had. Sushi | Bar is definitely a very different atmosphere and ambiance in comparison to some we have experienced in Dallas. Tatsu, Namo, Shoyo all fall under more traditional and formal... but Sushi | Bar offers such a fun, unique, but still semi formal omakase environment. You shoot the shit with the sushi chefs and they're still so incredibly professional with their craft, Incredibly knowledgeable with the fish, the origin, etc and put on such a great omakase experience... they all have such great personalities. On top of all this, the fish quality and rice quality is spectacular. Spending $165pp is absolutely worth it. This would be the place I highly recommend as a first time omakase experience for someone. This time around, we went for my husbands birthday with some great friends and we were so thankful to share such an incredible sushi experience with them. This 17 course omakase came in nearly perfect as every nigiri was phenomenal and I had a hard time trying to pick which bite was better. The nigiri and the ingredients all together provide SO much depth (both texturally and flavor). They have perfected this science. Truly a work of art. Everything works. Couldn't possibly recommend this place any more than I already have... But put it on your bucket list. We will be back again soon! Highlight rolls: Tartare handroll *chefs kiss* They had kasugodai- baby snapper and it was such a special treat! Ora king - farmed salmon that was just wow Star of the show - Otoro and Wagyu (always)

    Julie P.

Loved our experience at Sushi Bar! I loved the intimate dining experience and I was very pleasantly surprised at the freshness, quality and the flavor of each and every one of the nigiri pieces! Moving back to Dallas from Seattle, I've been craving good sushi and omakase experience and Sushi Bar definitely has been my favorite omakase in the DFW area! Service was so great as well, felt very intimate and the sushi chefs did such an amazing job of explaining every piece. It's also connected to a cute cocktail bar so you can grab some drinks before or after your meal! I highly recommend making your reservation here and trying this place out! Can't wait to go back again!

    Khai N.

From start to finish, this omakase was nothing short of exceptional--an unforgettable experience I'll be thinking about long after the last grain of rice. Guests are asked to arrive 20 minutes before seating to enjoy a complimentary cocktail. Everyone is seated at the same time--around 10 to 12 guests total--creating a very intimate setting. Each course was presented with care, and the chef took time to explain every dish. Highly recommended!!

GREAT portion and SUPER delicious. will be thinking about it for a while 2. Ninja roll.. AGAIN how is it so good? perfect amount of spicy!! also they somehow made the salmon on top creamy? 3. Yokohoma roll had less flavor than the ninja but it felt fresher! its perfect for when u want fish but not too much flavor 4. Washing roll was surprisingly so good!! everything ive had so far has been FANTASTIC but i normally hate krab. they mixed it in a way that made is actually really yummy?! almost bbqy but idk how to describe it 5. eel avocado roll might be my favorite? it had a LOT of flavor. ill be honest it didnt taste much like EEL but more like whatever sauce they put on it. it wasnt sweet at all which is nice considering eel usually is be warned anything you dont finish will be chard a la carte so make SURE u dont order as much as me because i couldnt finish what i ordered The place itself is cold (which is a big plus for me when im eating) and looks like a family spot. idk how to describe it but you can just tell its a couple familys go to sushi place. theres tons of parking outside too! They also have a spot for you to sit on the sushi bar to watch the chefs cook! it was really cool and i even saw a couple people request to be sat there Everyone was so sweet and attentive i loved it :)

The service was nice I think it's just how tight and small it is inside. - I heard good things about their to-go so I might do that or the omakase next time!
