Plesently surprised by this place the vibes inside were so chill. On a hot day spent at the Dallas aboretum we were looking for a sushi place that wasn't going to break the bank. Our server was super sweet and the food came out quickly. Definitely down to visit again. Really mediocre quality fish. I had the sashimi and hubs got sashimi sushi platter. Everyone was so mid. They are super quick though so if you're hungry, you don't have to worry about waiting forever for your food. I also had soft shell crab tempura. I didn't like the tempura breading on it. And then the Hama orange appetizer soon after. Here's what we ordered: Ricotta dumplings: good. The soup made it better. Hama orange: EXTREMELY FRESH with the orange. We usually don't prefer fatty slices, but this was pretty good. Sashimi combo A: White tuna: first time having it and surprisingly enjoyed it given we don't like regular tuna as much. seabass: stringy and chewy. Not a fan. Tuna: not a fan. Salmon: alright. I think the thick cut detracted from it. I was shocked I didn't like this one because Salmon and Yellowtail are my favorite cuts. The ambiance is serene and can be romantic: low lighting with multicolored string lights hanging from the ceiling. Pincushion sofas and velvet chairs. All 4 rolls that we ordered had extremely fresh ingredients and were perfectly garnished with sauce decoration; they were full of flavor. Hubby and I enjoyed our whole experience! We were courteously greeted. Their vibe is warm and inviting. We started off with a tempura and it was delicious and light. I got the yum yum roll, which to me was really huge and has a great amount of crunch, accompanied with huge flavor. Then my hubby got the coconut shrimp roll, he enjoyed the portion size. The ratio of the fried shrimp to the sushi was perfect, and the sushi itself is really good. Only downside is the sushi breaks apart easily. Scallop sushi: 10/10 Seared Salmon belly: 9/10 Ikuraaa: I didn't have the room to try it. Sasa roll: 9/10 We also had the takoyaki appetizer, which were really good. Everything was delicious, the only downside is there was a strong bathroom smell when we first walked in. After a few minutes, the smell of food covered it, but I hope they can do something about it, because it almost made us want to leave the restaurant immediately. This is a korean ran sushi spot, and their Ramen seemed pretty good too but I didn't have room. read more

Better takeout than blue sushi which takes forever and the quality is never the same. HERE? At Sasa, the quality is the same every time. What a hidden gem in Lakewood. We rarely explore this part of town and on a rare evening of taking care of to little ones, we decided to find a family friendly sushi spot for a 6pm dinner. We walked in and were promptly seated. We had a selection of booth, table, or sushi bar. I noticed the sushi bar had a corner section open that looked inviting so we took it. The wait staff was super friendly and took great care of the kids by bringing them out water (in plastic to go cups with lids), some activities (cool little bending stick things), and chop stick help. They also brought out food for my 3 year old super quick which I also greatly appreciated. The food itself was also delicious. We got the edamame, sushi rice, calamari, the shrimp shumai, Philadelphia roll, and king salmon sashimi (this was one of their specials of the night). Everything was delicious. My son single handedly polished off most of the calamari and my daughter loved the edamame. They both had some of the shrimp shumai and enjoyed it quite a bit. I wanted the kids to get into sushi but I couldn't really convince them to even try the Phillie roll. I ended up eating way more than I planned due to the kiddos but it was all delicious. The king salmon was probably my favorite of the night. Thick cuts of salmon that were just super fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back and recommend to anyone with little ones in the area for an early dinner with great family friendly service. read more

Some of the best sushi I've had in a long time! I got the tornado roll, 2 pieces each of salmon and yellowtail nigiri, and the blue crab hand roll. The hand roll might be the best thing I've eaten all year! It was so full of crab and had an incredible flavor. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again. The service was quick and friendly. I just walked in to get a to-go order, so I stayed up at the front. But I could see the rest of the restaurant had a really chill ambiance. I don't actually get sushi that often because it's pricey and the bill can add up quickly. The few items I got were around $40 plus tip. However, this is the type of sushi place that's worth EVERY penny. The flavor and freshness will bring me back here very soon. read more

Bulgogi was chewy and served on sizzling green peppers and onions, reminded me of a Chili's fajita dish. Tempura was just okay. As someone who loves Japanese food, I do not recommend the restaurant.
