Came here randomly because my 9 month pregnant wife was hungry and it required an immediate remedy vs. grocery shopping at Central Market next door. We didn't have many expectations but it was already a beautiful day. We were sat in the patio and they were extremely accommodating to my wife by supplying extra cushions. Our server was great. We split the caesar salad and I had the Hanger Steak Au Poivre while my wife had the Rigatoni Bolognese. Both were excellent. We will definitely be back post baby for happy hour! read more

Started with Caesar salad, which was interesting with fried capers, but there was more cheese than lettuce in the bowl. Bolognese with served on a rigatoni noodle that was so thick the Bolognese was almost impossible to locate. Double meat burger was tasty but overcooked. French fries were plentiful but very small pieces and not crispy. Tuna tartare was OK. Informed them at reservation it was a birthday celebration, but there was no celebrating from the restaurant. Ordered three desserts, including apple, crisp, ice cream, and carrot cake. Carrot cake was definitely the highlight of the dinner in the evening. For a birthday celebration, no drinks, and $140 bill, I'm not sure I would come back. read more

Wanted to try this as I shop at Central Market. Went in on a Saturday evening at 7:30 pm for a party of one. Was able to get a seat at the bar, which was perfect. Bartenders were very nice and prompt, and when I asked for what I thought would be an obscure drink, Last Word, as I saw a bottle of Green Chartreuse, the bartender knew exactly what it was and even asked for a preference in gin. He made a perfect one (actually two, as it was so good). Ordered the Tuna Tartare as an app --was very good, and I could have kept eating, but I wanted to save room for the main. Chose to go all out and ordered the Tenderloin and Frites. Also chose a Spanish Miros de Ribera Tempranillo for the wine (love seeing Spanish wines on a menu). Bartenders were very familiar with the variety. Steak was super!! Tender, cooked perfectly. My reason for one less star - they PILED on the frites, PILED! Why so many fries? I kinda felt insulted, like I was given a kid's meal from Whataburger. An appropriate amount that balances the meal is all you need. The bartender made a comment about guests, "wanting 'dem fries." Never let the outside look of a restaurant deter you from waking in. When my husband and I drove up to Claremont Neighborhood Grill, it looked like another strip mall kind of restaurant. And then we walked in... and I knew I misjudged this gorgeous place. Big tufted leather booth seating circled around the this space. With perfect lighting, dark wood, and open dinning room that makes you want to sit back and just enjoy everything about this place. We were quickly met by our waiter, Rustin, who is one of the most engaging waiters I've had in a long time. He was personable, polite, somewhat entertaining, and knew his menu and what each item tastes like. He made recommendations, and they were spot on! The double dip appetizer was delicious! In fact, everything we ate was delicious! I had the Caesar salad with chicken - mmmmmmm. Yes, I just explained it that way. My husband the Mahi Mahi fish tacos, and he described them as amazing. I visited Claremont this week and overall enjoyed my experience, though I wouldn't say I was blown away. The menu leans simple and classic, reminding me of several other spots around town. I started with the cucumber soda cocktail, which was light, refreshing, and perfect for summer--especially if you're a fan of cucumber. For my entrée, I went with the blackened redfish (my go-to "control dish" when trying new restaurants). It was nicely cooked and served over potato purée with asparagus. Others at my table tried Brad's Chicken, which they really enjoyed. I snagged a few of the accompanying fries and was impressed--super flavorful and well seasoned. I'm usually not big on skinny fries, but these were an exception. We wrapped things up with the strawberry crisp, which was a solid sweet finish. All in all, we enjoyed our reservation and the meal. Personally, given the menu overlaps with some of my favorite Dallas restaurants, I'm not sure I'll be rushing back--but it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking to try a new spot. read more

Claremont is my newest go-to restaurant in Dallas for a guaranteed great time. Impeccable service. Enchanting patio; attractively decorated and comfortable dining room; and, cozy is their private room. Everything tasted has been perfectly prepared, beautifully seasoned, and absolutely delicious. We had a great experience dining at the Claremont for the first time this past weekend. Our waiter Rustin was fantastic, and orchestrated an amazing dinner experience for us. As we were being seated it was clear to us we had misjudged this place from the outside. Outside, it's just a plain site, a little old and dated looking, but inside the ambiance was very inviting and relaxing. I had the Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos and they were amazing. Wonderfully seasoned and grilled to a flakey and not over dried perfection. We also had the "Dip Duo" which was seasoned tortilla chips with a cup of Queso and a Dish of a Bean & Cheese Dip. This was also amazing and so much so, it was hard to stop eating! I had fully planned to get the Apple Crisp for dessert, but unfortunately I was way too full to get that. Next visit (yes there will be more!) I will plan better and save room for dessert! read more

When I read in D Magazine that "people describe Claremont as family-friendly", had I thought that meant "families who feel it's acceptable to bring their screaming kids to a restaurant like this without even the slightest attempt to quiet them", I would have gone somewhere else. The head-turns and disgusted looks at nearby tables assured me it was not just "grumpy old me" feeling this way! Service from "Miguel H" and team was fantastic. Drink (La Verdita) was good. I was told the frozen watermelon margarita did not compare to "Far Out's" in both taste and potency, but in their defense that's a very high bar! Food was a miss. The nightly special, grilled redfish tacos, was fishy tasting and very saucy (greasy?). I was told the roasted corn ragout was not fresh tasting, as if it came from a can. The seasoned fries were decent as was the tortilla soup in a tomato-soup-like base. Was hoping I'd like coming here as much as I have enjoyed Suze over the years, but I think I'll leave this "family friendly" place to those who apparently struggle to find babysitters for the evening. read more

We tried this place recently for a guy's dinner. The old fashioned and Jack in the box drinks were good. The deviled eggs, artichoke and burrata appetizers were all great starters. I would rank them in that order for flavor. There wasn't as much burrata as we would have liked but it was good nonetheless. The pork chop, corned beef sandwich, ribs and burger were all great entrees. The burger was the group favorite. I will definitely be back to try more menu options soon. read more

This was recommended by a co-worker and I would definitely recommend to others. I went with 5 friends for a ladies night/mom's night out. I had reservations and when we got there it was such a nice night we asked if they had room outside- they made it happen and the patio was so peaceful! I truly didn't feel like I was in a shopping center! They had big umbrellas and lots of shade. And it was also somehow pretty noise free from any cars. Our waiter, Dylan, totally understood the assignment and took great care of us! He didn't rush us and was really good at determining when to check in and just let us hang out. He also played up the girls night which we appreciated! The food was so good, the burger, the Mac and cheese and the pimento cheese I would highly recommend! This is a spot that could be cute as a casual friend hang or a date! The atmosphere was very welcoming and neighborly. Would come back and if you're in the area I suggest stopping by! read more

Claremont is a great new addition to the Dallas dining scene. The ambiance inside is fantastic in that it is warm and refined yet still has a casual flare. We started off with the baked meatballs which were fantastic. The bread that came with them was well made and paired perfectly. We then got a caesar salad and the burger. The caesar salad was excellent and the burger was even better. The french fries were similar to a refined McDonalds (in a great way). The burger was well balanced and had a great flavor. Although we did not get dessert. we were eying them as servers would walk by with them. Overall, this is a great addition to the neighborhood and we can't wait to come back. read more

I dine out a lot. When I decided to try Claremont, I wasn't sure what to expect. Dallas is saturated with Vandelay restaurants, and they've really taken over the dining scene. In my neighborhood, Preston Hollow, there are several Vandelay restaurants within walking distance of my house. If I head a couple of miles south to Snyder Plaza, the density increases exponentially. There are seven or eight locations there alone. Go north past LBJ to Beltline? More. Around SMU? Again, more. It seems like everywhere you turn, there's a Vandelay concept. Don't get me wrong--they're good. I wouldn't call them great, but they're solid. Claremont, however, brought clarity and elevated the dining experience that I think Vandelay is trying to achieve. From a service perspective, Claremont was superior. From a food perspective, it was leagues better--while still delivering that trendy, upscale-casual vibe reminiscent of most Vandelay or Hillstone-owned spots. If I have one complaint about Claremont, it's that the food came out too quickly. They were so dialed in that there was very little time between courses. For two people, we were in and out in about 35-40 minutes, with one cocktail each, two appetizers, and a $130 pre-tip check. That's quick--almost too quick. A dinner experience like this should take closer to 45 minutes to an hour to feel more balanced. So, what did we eat? We had the burger, which I'd rank in the top three in Dallas. Seriously. It was perfectly crafted. They clearly either bake their own buns or source them from a quality bakery. The meat filled the bun with perfect proportions, and the flavors--thanks to the jam and grilled onions--were unreal. The patty saturated the lower bun, but the top bun stayed intact, creating an ideal balance of textures and flavors. I'm a tough critic when it comes to burgers in DFW, but this one blew me away. Oh, and it includes fries--something every $18-20 burger in Dallas should come with but often doesn't (looking at you, Vandelay). With them, fries are à la carte, and your burger ends up being $27. Next up was the tuna tostada. Fresh, crispy, and bursting with the right flavors. The bolognese was another standout--a total hit. After spending a week eating Italian in New York City, my bar for Italian food has been raised significantly, but Claremont knocked it out of the park. To test my theory, I'm going back this Friday to see if they can replicate the experience. If they can, I'll be singing Claremont's praises to everyone I know. For now, this is a must-try if you enjoy the vibes of places like Hillstone, R&D, DLM, Hudson House, Honor Bar, Il Bracco, or Bobby's. Honestly, I'd pick Claremont over all of them right now--and I already did by making another reservation this Friday! read more

Quick funny tip: if you tell Google maps (via microphone) to direct you to "Claremont," it will route you to California. So, y'know, stay alert out there, everyone. Ok really though...Claremont Neighborhood Grill. Where to begin... Vibes are great, much better in person than in photos. The comparisons to Vandelay restaurants (it's not a Vandelay spot) are on point, though honestly, it's missing that sort of Vandelay je ne sais quoi, which I think is a GOOD thing. Claremont feels a little less perfectly polished in terms of the decor, which in turn feels a little more authentic and unique. Like a real neighborhood grill -- although to call this place a "grill" is hilarious, because it doesn't have "grill" vibes or prices. The large number of Parkies who've ventured out of HP in their cutesy dresses further detract from any "grill" vibes. It'll feel more "neighborhood" once the hype dies down, hopefully. I'd love to see more people here actually dressed like they're just out for a quick meal a few blocks from home. Can we please have upscale decor and prices AND be a little less dressy / more "neighborhood"-y in our attire? I think that's what Claremont Neighborhood Grill would want. (...she shouted into the void.) Service was, on the whole, lovely. Our waitress was adorable. We did not feel rushed (on a Thursday evening), and in fact we pushed back against ordering several times and never felt that we were annoying her. She was super happy to take everything at our pace. We stayed for just over 3 hours and had a lovely time. The only miss on service was that after we paid our check, we were allowed to linger for another hour, but our waitress completely vanished, and our water ran dry. After spending a decent amount of money on a multiple-course meal (appetizer, entrees, dessert, and alcohol), I'd love to see that acknowledged with at least the bare minimum of water refills until we leave. Food was solid. The pimento cheese appetizer was definitely the star, and it's an ample serving size. If I came here for happy hour drinks (do they have a happy hour??) and that pimento cheese, I'd walk away happy with just that, even though their wine list leaves a lot to be desired, and the cocktails were fine but nothing to write home about. I had the redfish, which was perfectly delicious but also a dish you've had at ten other restaurants. The beets-and-yogurt side dish was safe but still nice. The burger got rave reviews from a dining companion, but the fries were WAY over-seasoned (and this from a girl who loves her seasoning). The brownie dessert was solid but, again, nothing you haven't had before. The patio looks like a lovely place to spend a warm summer night talking about the days that this place was Ball's Hamburgers and we'd run around the arcade room in our YMCA jerseys after a game. Claremont isn't quite that sort of uber-casual "neighborhood grill" (as almost nothing is in Dallas anymore), but I hope people will embrace Claremont in a more "neighborhood" way before too long. read more

We have had dinner at Claremont many times and have always been pleased with our meals. However, this last time was a different story. We had cocktails, a bottle of wine, meatball appetizer--all good. The hubby's brisket bolognese entree was good but I had the evening's special---brisket enchiladas which were almost brisket-less. All I could taste was tortillas and the red sauce on top. There was hardly any meat in the enchiladas. Katz brothers, I expected better from you. Let's start with the food is good and the bar staff is great. Here's where management needs to get it together. You're a neighborhood restaurant, not out for a Michelin star...which will come in later. To your customers, the only thing more irritating than the person at a host stand asking 'is your entire party here' is seeing open seats at a bar and being told you have to get on a list. BARS ARE FOR OPEN SEATING. Houston's - I mean Hillstone is the only other place I've seen with the attitude to take up this policy. Which had me drop my visit count from ~25 visits a year to zero. If you're going to have this moronic policy, you should be on the ball and seat quickly...nope...the staff had open seats for 13 minutes before 'allowing' us to sit down...and yes, I counted. I did this because, not having a seat gave me the free time to catalogue their lack of competence. The deviled eggs are spectacular...I mean amazing, but most of the other food is just average for what I would expect at the price point...not earth shaking, just what I would expect. Oh oh oh...I even asked about this policy and managements glib response was 'well...we noticed that this is how some Michelin star restaurants handle bar seating. My friend, I've been to Michelin Star restaurants and you are NOT that. Stay in your lane, be the best version of what you are and embrace that neighbor restaurants live and die by customers who come in and drop $150 on any given Wednesday. read more

I have had a few wonderful meals at Claremont with friends. I took my husband this evening and it was very mediocre. We were sat near the bar with very intrusive guests blocking the wait staff from the kitchen and causing many to knock my husband's chair. Where was the manager? I feel sorry for the waiters. But worse was the food. The deviled eggs had little flavor despite the description. Our fried quail was over battered, and again relied on sauces that were too sweet or too bland. My husband ordered the special Australian lamb chops that looked glorious but were sous vide perfectly but had no flavor. My salmon was adequate. I am truly disappointed. It is the week of my wife's birthday and our choice for dinner was the Claremont. We were excited, ordered drinks, and sat at the bar to wait for our table. We were not prepared to be asked to take our drinks and get off of the bar chairs. They have a waiting list for the bar chairs. That was new to us, and we immediately walked away with an attitude. After being taken to our table, Carlos, the GM, came over to introduce himself, and find out what happened. We explained our shock, and he understood our feelings. Carlos took a table of frustrated guests with attitudes, and created a table of guests who cannot wait to come back. Carlos made our experience an experience! We are grateful, the food was great, and Carlos epitomized what a good GM can do to calm a crowd and create a wonderful experience. We will be back! read more

Solid restaurant for what is available in the area. So far have been back 4 times! A great value for what is around Dallas, and surrounding area! The previous restaurant that was called Suze was vanilla, and outdated. The concept the owners have created is a great neighborhood establishment, delivering exactly what they're suppose to be. The bar waitlist is great, I was able to enjoy my martini till my name was called! I appreciate the safe options they offer! The meatballs were splendid! The tortilla soup tastes like the one from Fearings! Don't get me started on the pork chop!!! The best part is the team members! They're not robots and genuinely care about your experience!
