New Restaurant that's been on my list. Welcome to Velour! I decided to check out Sunday Funday Brunch. I love that they offer Happy Hour Specials on Sundays. This includes BRUNCH! They have food and cocktail specials so that was a BIG plus. I have mixed emotions writing this review. Some things were truly great and a few things need work. They are new and still working out some kinks. Service 5 STARS Service was AMAZING! Our waiter was on point. He was polished, polite, pleasant and just phenomenal. He made the experience even better. I can honestly say he was helpful and went above and beyond my expectations. Ambiance 4.5 STARS The restaurant is definitely modern, posh and chic. It's truly cute and I appreciate the simple decor. The bar area feels sophisticated. It has a huge tv screen and nice barstools. The colors are nicely matched throughout the restaurant. The restrooms are dark, but sexy. It's a great space and feels comfortable and clean. Cocktails 4 STARS I thought they were all tasty and delicious. I could taste the liquor. I was happy and satisfied! Food 3 STARS Overall This is where it fell apart. I wasn't happy with it. Some items were yummy and others fell short. The good-OYSTERS were awesome. I loved these and would recommend them. The chicken lollipops were scrumptious. They were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Presentation was excellent. These items get: 4 STARS. The ok-PANCAKES were decent. You get two and they are a good size. The syrup had a nice flavor. They weren't the prettiest pancakes, but overall they were acceptable. 2.5 STARS The bad-fried chicken was fried too hard and very BLAND. They need to work on the recipe. Also double check what pieces you will get. I was given a breast, thigh and wing. I like small pieces of chicken and had stressed this. They were out of legs and I really wanted a leg. Shrimp and grits were not the best. Grits were hard and undercooked. The shrimp were fine, but you only get three. 1STAR What I loved is that the manager came to the table. I gave him some constructive feedback. He was very receptive and offered to make things right. This made me feel better about dining here. The grits were sent back. I was able to get all wings. Overall it was good experience. I am always happy to support a new restaurant. I think once they work out a few things they have potential. A few menu tweaks on the recipes would be great. It wasn't perfect, but I can say the new leadership is great. My final thought is...Food really should be the star of the restaurant experience. Fix the chicken and grits!

My absolute favorite thing about this spot? The music isn't loud. No shouting across the table. No "WHAT?!" after every sentence. Just good vibes and even better conversation. We stopped by on a Tuesday for happy hour, before a concert. Erin was our server, and she was phenomenal. She gave thoughtful recommendations, knew the menu well, and made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. Now let's talk food. We tried the lamb chops -- great flavor, nicely seasoned, though slightly on the tougher side. The truffle fries? Loved. The burger? Delicious. The oysters? Fresh and absolutely worth ordering. The cornbread was served with a bone marrow butter that added a rich twist, and the cornbread had a subtle jalapeño kick (at least to me!), which I really enjoyed. For drinks we tried the pear cobbler, Island Boy and the Pixie Cup. We enjoyed the pear cobbler the most. The ambiance is warm and inviting -- the kind of place you could come for happy hour and accidentally stay all evening. And I believe parking is validated. Overall, I definitely recommend checking Velore out. Great service, tasty food, relaxed atmosphere, and music at a volume that respects your eardrums. The menu will be changing again soon.

Velour did not come to disappoint! I came for the Tuesday all day happy hour with $8 drink special and food specials! You can't beat that! Tuesday for the win! Immediately when we came in we were greeted by the staff who gave a warm welcome and a friendly smile. We didn't have recommendations but they were happy to accommodate! The ambiance is perfect for a date night or anywhere you want a grown and intimate experience. Hannah was our server, and she was knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make multiple suggestions! I am always torn and she made it so simple! She made us feel like we were the only one in the restaurant Management staff Dani and Swede made sure we enjoyed our experience. Coming back to check on us! I will be back! The lamb kebabs, smash burger and bone marrow cornbread was delicious!

Had reservations with a girlfriend for Saturday evening. Parking is a bit annoying, but that's typical in victory park. They have valet and do validate the garages, but be prepared to walk a block or two for both options. It's a cute restaurant with an area to take pictures and private room for larger parties. Took about 15 minutes to get seated, the server and our waiter, Manny, were both very great. Customer service is definitely their strong suit. The food, however, took a very long time to come out. We got the oysters to start, which were basically just cheese - not necessarily a bad thing. I got the pasta with shrimp and chicken which was very flavorful. My friend got the fried catfish, which she enjoyed. We also shared greens and mac and cheese. The greens were wayyyy too salty, but the mac and cheese was solid. Our drinks were also pretty good. Overall, I would give it a 3.5 but due to the great service I'll give it a 4.

The host was very welcoming. I got the crab claws. They were alright. I wish they were a little warmer. The sauce was good. I feel like the claws may have been chilled before and then put in the warm sauce. The dish has potential. The bartenders were great and attentive!

The experience at Velour was interesting... and definitely a never again for me for food. Six of my friends and I went for brunch and were one of the first groups there when they opened. They advertise a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival, but we were not offered this. It was only after we asked later in the service that the champagne was finally given to us, which already set a disappointing tone. We ordered happy hour drinks and those were honestly 10/10 amazing. Unfortunately, the food did not match the quality of the drinks. I ordered the French toast with banana foster. The banana foster sauce itself was good, but the bread tasted burnt and overly hard taste, and the dish sat in a soupy base that helped the taste a bit. Several people at our table received their food cold. We were asked to step away to take pictures while the food was brought out, but when we returned about 10 minutes later after being told the food was ready it was cold. Three people in our party didn't eat their meals at all. It took about 30 minutes for the manager to come to the table. We were told he was also cooking, which already felt like poor management. Before coming over, we watched him stop to chat with a friend at the bar and the friend looked back at our table as if the manager was complaining about us.. very unprofessional. When he finally spoke to us, he wouldn't offered refunds and said he would give us free shots and I believe he took 15% off their price. However, it took so long for those shots to even come out that we decided to leave without them. Every request seemed to take a long time for anything to come out. Our server was kind but forgetful and clearly overwhelmed. We still tipped him because he tried, but overall the service and food execution were very poor. The space itself is beautiful, but that's where the positives end. If I ever returned which is unlikely it would be for drinks only. I would never order food here again.

We went for appetizers and had an amazing time. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious. We had the sticky ribs and the lamb skewers and of course fries because I'm just a girl. The food came out, piping hot, very tasty and played it nicely. The whole aesthetic in this place is a vibe from start to finish when you walk in. It is just super super pretty. There are spots where you can get good Instagrammable photos. I will definitely be back here.

Foodie Alert! I got a chance to dine at the new Southern soul X Asian fusion restaurant Velouř located in downtown Dallas, TX. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt so welcomed! I was greeted with a warm smile from the beautiful hostess ( I wish I remembed her name) and the house manager gave me a quick tour of the restaurant while I waited for my friend to arrive. They have a really nice back room to host private parties. Drink: Expense For Honesty - Rate 5/5 Snacks/ Small Plates: Blistered Shishito peppers - Rate 5/5 Pepper & Crap dip - Rate 5/5 Charred Oysters - Rate 4/5 Roasted Crab Claws - Rate 4/5 Large Plates: Wagyu Flat Iron- Rate 3/5 (Chewy and under-seasoned) Seared Snapper - 3/5 ( bland, fishy but the Succatash was delicious) Velouř knocked it out of the park for customer service, it was A1 second to none. They paid very close attention to detail and made sure we received everything we needed. The drinks and appetizers were great overall. I do recommend that they have more of a buttery garlic sauce for the crab claws and that the oysters have just a little bit more seasoning. However, in regards to the main entrée, the Wagyu flat iron steak was very chewy and lacked seasoning and the snapper was bland and very fishy. I did LOVE the Succatash that the snapper was paired with. Of course there's always room for improvement but overall, I believe this restaurant is off to a good start with a few tweaks here and there it can become a Dallas staple. Rate - 4/5.

I've been wanting to check out Velour for a few weeks. After popping in after a movie, this experience was worth the stop. The hostess advised it was a full house but was able to seat us at the bar with no reservation. The service at the bar was reasonable, I can tell the pace changed when the dinner rush came in which was understandable. We started with the charred oysters and the Champagne Piña Freeze. The oysters were pretty good and the Freeze was AMAZING. Not a big frozen drink person but it had the best balance of champagne and freeze. Loved that. We ordered the Southern Fried Catfish and the Smash Burger. I have to say the food was 10/10 and will definitely be back. The atmosphere was perfect the music was at a fair volume where I didn't feel like I was screaming, the space was really chill and gave a champagne room vibe. I will definitely be back to enjoy more items at velour in the future.

I came here for a birthday dinner for a good friend of mine. It was a Sunday at 6:30pm and they had a brunch menu for the whole day. I arrived early and sat by front check in area. The ladies that work there were so sweet. Staff gave me good recommendations and we had some good conversations. I let them know that I wasn't drinking any alcohol and they were nice enough to speak to the bartender to make me a mocktail. When our group finally arrive and we were seated right away. Our waiter Carlton ( i think that's his name) was very patient and did a very good job for our group. Food came out and was hot and delicious. They do offer validation if you park in the parking garage.

It's a birthday celebration and we came to eat. The only problem parking around here is crazy. I don't understand why valet is not in front of the entrance, OH WELL guess we getting some steps. We were greeted with a smile and guided to our seat right away.

Everything previously still stands about my review. However, I will add the parking is extremely limited. I would recommend valet for this location! Also, Laron was a great bartender.

I enjoyed the herby sauce on the chips, but wished it was served on the side! Mains: English Pea & Potato Pierogi, Mac and Cheese, and Vegetable Pasta - they were very nice to make a vegetarian pasta dish for us, and it was delicious! The tomato sauce was flavorful. The Mac and Cheese was also perfectly cheesy and I enjoyed the garlic breadcrumbs. My favorite was the Pierogi -- savory potato's, sweet brown butter sauce, and fresh greens to balance it all out! Silly ole me asked if onion cups could be provided and the resturant obliged, thank-you! Now for the taste test. The shrimp and pork dumplings were well packed with the protein. They dressed it well in sauces too! As I placed my dumpling in the onion cup i can say the sharpness of the onion meshed well. The crunch also brought another level texture to a soft dumpling. Now this is usually done with soup dumplings but when I say its a trend it ended diverting from the original post. Regardless, the restaurantet let me be silly and I appreciated it! Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K

The kale was crisp and the chickpea croutons were unique and crispy. It was large enough for two. I also ordered a side of fresh cut fries which were cut thin. It was crispy and lightly salted. My salad was fresh, bright and didn't leave me feeling heavy. 10/10 My cousin ordered the Maple Salmon. I believe the waitress said they now use gochujang sauce instead of maple. My cousin really enjoyed her meal and said she would definitely order it again. 10/10 The bachelorette ordered the steak frites, she ordered it to be cooked medium but it came out a bit more rare than she preferred. She still ate it as is and said it was tender and flavorful. 9/10 Lastly we ordered the lobster mac, this was sooooo good! The mac was runnier than I would like but the taste made up for it. I would order it again. 9.5/10

From the street, the exterior presentation appears perfectly modest and understated, but crossing the threshold reveals a completely different story. The interior revelation is nothing short of magnificent exceptionally impressive architecture, beautifully curated decor, and a thoroughly sophisticated ambiance. The dining room was comfortably serene with just a few select patrons present when I arrived. A charming gentleman promptly extended a warm welcome and escorted me to an excellent, highly desirable table. I also noted a beautifully structured, intimate bar area within the space, which adds a lovely touch of elegance. To begin my mid-day refreshment, I requested a crisp Lemon Drop Martini, which was executed to an absolute standard. For my luncheon entrée, I selected the Beverly Salad from the menu. The efficiency of the kitchen was highly commendable, presenting the dish to my table mere minutes later. The presentation was immaculate, featuring a remarkably grand bowl beautifully abundant with premium, tender meats. The entire flavor profile was a complete delight refreshing, substantial, and thoroughly satisfying. I am entirely enamored with this unexpected sanctuary. The seamless combination of hidden interior grandeur, elite hospitality, and flawless culinary execution deserves full marks. I shall most certainly be returning for future luncheons

It's a lunch spot with sandwiches and a glass of wine or a cocktail. It's the perfect place to work on your laptop or read a book, but also to take a casual date or your family for breakfast. They have a gluten free bread option (woohoo) and I've had both their avocado toast and the fried egg breakfast sandwich (with added avocado haha). Both are sooo good. The avocado toast comes with smoked salmon, which I do like, but I'm more of a basic avocado toast person. It also has a little pico de gallo and red pepper flakes! The breakfast sandwich is 2 over easy eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, and tomato on sourdough (I subbed gluten free bread and added avocado) with a side of breakfast potatoes. It's a lot of food -- super filling and delicious. I also recommend their iced latte with whatever house-made syrup your prefer (usuals like caramel, vanilla, mocha, and then not-so-usuals like coconut pandan, lavender, brown sugar date, etc.). Enjoy!

However they were attentive and the overall ambiance was nice and upbeat for a brunch place. Food wise, everything here was average. Nothing stood out as something I absolutely would come back for. We got two Benedict's that were not very warm and has hollandaise/gravy that was not very flavorful but the home fries were seasoned and fried well. The French toast was quite good but was very obviously put in the microwave right before serving with a steaming hot center. The best part was the blueberry kale salad which had a nice vinaigrette and the cashews were a nice touch. Overall, with the number of brunch spots in Dallas I would reserve halcyon for study/coffee spot as opposed to a must try weekend brunch.

Arrived pretty late, so the kitchen and dessert service had already closed. I was really hoping to try the sticky toffee cake but that'll have to wait until next time. Instead, I tried the Hibiscus Paloma mocktail with grapefruit, lime, and Topo Chico, which was incredibly refreshing after being outside. The Garden soirée was also excellent and refreshing. The NBA game was on, and the whole place was really into it (including the staff) which made for a fun atmosphere. Service took a little longer than usual, but given the energy in the room, I honestly didn't mind. The covered patio was comfortable, dog-friendly, and a great place to unwind.

The night started beautifully--we enjoyed espresso martinis at the bar and were then seated at one of our favorite tables. We ordered a bottle of wine and caviar and were settling in to plan the rest of our meal when the experience took a turn. A tween/teen birthday party was seated in the private room. At first, we assumed the noise was just initial excitement and would settle after a few minutes. The parents of the birthday girl were seated nearby, and when the mother got up, we expected she might ask the girls to lower their volume. Unfortunately, the opposite happened--she brought the group out into the main dining room for photos, where the noise level became even more disruptive. Another couple seated near us--at what is typically a very desirable table--lasted no more than five minutes before asking to be moved outside. Shortly after, a manager approached the private room. We anticipated they would address the noise, but instead, they greeted the party warmly and thanked them for being there, without making any effort to manage the disruption. After so many consistently great experiences, it was honestly shocking. We truly felt as though we were being punked. My boyfriend and I both have children and enjoy bringing them to nice restaurants, but part of that experience includes ensuring they understand and respect the environment. When that standard isn't upheld--especially with no support from management--it significantly detracts from the experience for everyone else.
