The bar ended up opening up so we sat there. I got the short cakes + crispy chicks and was left amazed. It was recommended by multiple staff and I see why. The others of my party weren't really impressed with their food but would give it a try again. The food came out at various times with mine being one of the first to come out. I visited this restaurant with a friend who raved about their dishes. Upon entertaining, the establishment appears large but the dining area is actually quite intimate. The decor stood out in the restaurant and the large mirrors surrounding the back wall. Our server was very kind and quite hilarious! He recommended some of his favorite entrees but I knew what I had my heart set on. The smash burger was pretty large ! I ended up only eating half and boxing up the rest for next day's lunch. Between the Lack of silverware, waitresses not checking in, and long wait for drinks (including water), I can't recommend coming here if you're in a rush. The food has potential. I saw this place on Instagram and so I decided to go to celebrate a Friend of mine's birthday. Now, when I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile, and also told that reservations were needed, which I did not know, but I will say that the hostess was extremely accommodating. A friend of mine bought her baby with her and because of the baby and the stroller, they accommodated us and sat us down and gave us an hour and a half limit which we stuck to. The service was amazing. I honestly gave the staff a 10 out of 10. Especially our waitress her name is Chrissy. Ambiance was good. The food was delicious. We went there for happy hour. I had the crab claws and the chargrilled oysters. And as a dessert, I had their bread pudding, which was delicious. New Restaurant that's been on my list. Welcome to Velour! I decided to check out Sunday Funday Brunch. I love that they offer Happy Hour Specials on Sundays. This includes BRUNCH! They have food and cocktail specials so that was a BIG plus. I have mixed emotions writing this review. Some things were truly great and a few things need work. They are new and still working out some kinks. Service 5 STARS Service was AMAZING! Our waiter was on point. He was polished, polite, pleasant and just phenomenal. He made the experience even better. I can honestly say he was helpful and went above and beyond my expectations. Ambiance 4.5 STARS The restaurant is definitely modern, posh and chic. It's truly cute and I appreciate the simple decor. The bar area feels sophisticated. It has a huge tv screen and nice barstools. The colors are nicely matched throughout the restaurant. The restrooms are dark, but sexy. It's a great space and feels comfortable and clean. Cocktails 4 STARS I thought they were all tasty and delicious. I could taste the liquor. I was happy and satisfied! Also double check what pieces you will get. I was given a breast, thigh and wing. I like small pieces of chicken and had stressed this. They were out of legs and I really wanted a leg. Shrimp and grits were not the best. Grits were hard and undercooked. The shrimp were fine, but you only get three. 1STAR What I loved is that the manager came to the table. I gave him some constructive feedback. He was very receptive and offered to make things right. This made me feel better about dining here. The grits were sent back. I was able to get all wings. Overall it was good experience. I am always happy to support a new restaurant. I think once they work out a few things they have potential. A few menu tweaks on the recipes would be great. We were seated in less than an hour. I had an Island boy (drink) and mannnnn was it strong. I ate the crab claws, wings, collard greens and Mac and cheese and I love all of it. The experience at Velour was interesting... and definitely a never again for me for food. Six of my friends and I went for brunch and were one of the first groups there when they opened. They advertise a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival, but we were not offered this. It was only after we asked later in the service that the champagne was finally given to us, which already set a disappointing tone. We ordered happy hour drinks and those were honestly 10/10 amazing. Unfortunately, the food did not match the quality of the drinks. I ordered the French toast with banana foster. The banana foster sauce itself was good, but the bread tasted burnt and overly hard taste, and the dish sat in a soupy base that helped the taste a bit. Several people at our table received their food cold. We were asked to step away to take pictures while the food was brought out, but when we returned about 10 minutes later after being told the food was ready it was cold. Three people in our party didn't eat their meals at all. It took about 30 minutes for the manager to come to the table. We were told he was also cooking, which already felt like poor management. Before coming over, we watched him stop to chat with a friend at the bar and the friend looked back at our table as if the manager was complaining about us.. very unprofessional. When he finally spoke to us, he wouldn't offered refunds and said he would give us free shots and I believe he took 15% off their price. However, it took so long for those shots to even come out that we decided to leave without them. Every request seemed to take a long time for anything to come out. Had reservations with a girlfriend for Saturday evening. Parking is a bit annoying, but that's typical in victory park. They have valet and do validate the garages, but be prepared to walk a block or two for both options. It's a cute restaurant with an area to take pictures and private room for larger parties. Took about 15 minutes to get seated, the server and our waiter, Manny, were both very great. Customer service is definitely their strong suit. The food, however, took a very long time to come out. We got the oysters to start, which were basically just cheese - not necessarily a bad thing. I got the pasta with shrimp and chicken which was very flavorful. I've been wanting to check out Velour for a few weeks. After popping in after a movie, this experience was worth the stop. The hostess advised it was a full house but was able to seat us at the bar with no reservation. The service at the bar was reasonable, I can tell the pace changed when the dinner rush came in which was understandable. We started with the charred oysters and the Champagne Piña Freeze. The oysters were pretty good and the Freeze was AMAZING. Not a big frozen drink person but it had the best balance of champagne and freeze. Loved that. We ordered the Southern Fried Catfish and the Smash Burger. I have to say the food was 10/10 and will definitely be back. Around 8:00 p.m. on a Saturday night, I emailed the restaurant hoping to find a way to cover my best friend's dinner and drinks. I wasn't able to attend her 59th birthday celebration, but it was important to me that she still felt how loved and celebrated she is. The manager, Nae, went above and beyond to make that happen. Not only was my email answered promptly and enthusiastically, but the care and grace shown in handling my friend's questions about the items ordered at the table truly stood out. Everything was handled seamlessly and with such kindness. Because of Nae and the Velour team, my friend felt celebrated, and her birthday dinner became a truly memorable experience--one I was grateful to be a part of, even from afar. The only downside was the music; it was a bit too loud for my taste. I prefer being able to talk comfortably while eating rather than having to raise my voice softer background music would have been ideal. As for the food and drinks, we ordered the peach cobbler drink, which was good. We also had the lamb skewers, but I wasn't impressed with them. I wish I had been asked how I wanted them cooked because they came out well done. They were served over a large bed of arugula, and although the menu mentioned a yogurt dressing, there didn't seem to be much of it. Overall, they were just too tough to really enjoy. My friend and I also shared the sticky ribs and mac and cheese both were good, nothing mind-blowing, but enjoyable. I am writing this review to share my disappointing experience at Velour on Sunday, April 26, 2026, during what was supposed to be a special celebration for my sister's 64th birthday. To begin, the ambience was very nice. The music was appropriate, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was enjoyable and set a good atmosphere for dining. However, the positive environment was overshadowed by multiple service and food issues. We arrived at the restaurant at 11:45 a.m. but were not seated until 12:45 p.m., resulting in a one-hour wait. Once seated, our waiter Clay introduced himself and brought water for the table. However, he never initially asked for our drink order or provided any information that happy hour would be ending at 1:00 p.m. during brunch hours. When we attempted to order alcoholic beverages at approximately 1:03 p.m., we were informed that happy hour had ended at 1:00 p.m., and we would need to pay full price. Despite this, we still purchased drinks and paid full price. One member of our party ordered the shrimp and grits, which arrived with only two shrimp and was extremely salty. After bringing this concern to our waiter, Clay removed the plate and contacted the manager, Anastasia. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager Anastasia was rude and dismissive. She stated that because part of the meal had been eaten, the guest would be required to pay 50% of the entrée price. She also said that if a replacement dish was ordered, it would be charged at full price. While she did mention the meal could be remade, the overall response felt unprofessional and lacked empathy. The waiter later returned with a replacement dish and stated that the shrimp and grits would not be charged. However, the manager Anastasia never returned to the table to provide an explanation or apologize for the situation. Additionally, the food came out very staggered, with several members of the party finishing their meals before other guests were even served. While the waiter Clay was attentive and did his best under the circumstances, the pacing from the kitchen made the dining experience uneven. Because it was a large party, gratuity was automatically added to the bill. On a more positive note, for the birthday celebration, we were provided a bottle of champagne for the table, which was a nice gesture on the part of the owner. To make matters worse, another guest ordered the fluffy cakes from the menu and was later told they were unavailable, even though it was around 12:00 noon. Overall, while the ambience and music were enjoyable and the champagne gesture was appreciated, the poor customer service, lack of communication, long wait time, staggered food service, menu unavailability, and lack of professionalism significantly impacted our experience. What was meant to be a joyful celebration for a special 64th birthday was unfortunately ruined. I rarely write reviews, but I feel it is important to share this experience for others considering this restaurant.
