This will be my last time at this location & if the others are like this. I just WON'T be back ! Management and the entire staff needs some customer service skills. There should be a policy in place for a dining time limit for a high traffic restaurants. It's not to rush clients off but to allow for a pleasant dining experience for other waiting patrons ! We had come before, but the wait time wasn't accurate--on the list it said 30 minutes, but we ended up waiting well over an hour (1.5 hours) and left. This time, I was hoping for a better experience, but it wasn't. When we walked in, the host was very rude and handled our check-in in an unwelcoming way. We were asked our name, but the tone and attitude felt inappropriate. Our server, Trey, wasn't rude, but he did take my menu from under me and turned it over without asking, which also wasn't okay. After we placed our order, I asked him to return in five minutes so I could get a takeout order, but he forgot. He came back while I was already eating--and it still took about 30 minutes for the takeout request to be handled. I dropped into this spot this morning randomly after looking on a map to see what was close to me. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything inside is super cute and this is a soul food spot for sure. Service was horrible and incredibly slow. We were told there would be a 30-minute wait. After waiting that long, I went inside to check, and the hostess said there were still three parties ahead of us. Moments later, a man came over and told us to sit at a table meant for four, even though we were a party of five. We had to ask to be moved to a larger table . Once seated, we waited another 45 minutes for our food, and during that time, not once did the waitress check in with us after taking our order. We'll start with the food, it was about 35 minutes for the food to hit the table from ordering, but the restaurant was busy. I did notice that they had no trouble cranking out to-go orders. Dine in orders took quite a while. My other comment is on gratuity. We had a party of 5 and a 20% gratuity was automatically applied to my bill and I was taxed for the gratuity that was added. I didn't see anything on the menu that mentioned an automatic gratuity. Just something to be aware of if you dine there.
