Welp, wanted to try this place for the 1st time and I called to make an order and was told I had to order online. Tried that but most of the items I wanted were out of stock. Greens, Cabbage, mac and cheese. I wanted the ox tails and try the whole catfish along with the jerk wings. Guess that won't be happening. I kept trying to call back and they sent me to vm. Clean and comfortable atmosphere with VERY Friendly Service! Okay, we got here about 6, unfortunately they were out of macaroni and cheese and cornbread. Two things we must try next time! My oxtails over rice had good flavor and (of course) fell off the bone. The collards were cooked well and seasoned well (just wish there was more). Black eyed peas were good (I like mine a little smoky). My wife enjoyed the 6 shrimp and fries and said her Daiquiri hit the spot. Omg this place was poppin, the vibe was great they were playing oldie skool R&B. The customer service was good. Some young ppl working and vibin with each other. I got the oxtails plate and Omm that Shit was cracking excuse my language. They gave me enough for two ppl and my boyfriend enjoyed it too. The Mac was cracking. The yams were good just a little too sweet for my liking. Next time I want to get the greens. The rice it was over was cracking it definitely was giving dirty rice. The oxtails were on point too! We got there at 1 PM on Sunday and was able to get the mac & cheese and greens. It seemed like by around 2 PM, I heard them telling folks they were out of mac & cheese and greens, they also were out of when wings which they offered is the 6 wing drummettes instead. I'm not sure what was going on with that, but we're glad we got the portions we wanted. The customer service was really good. No complaints there. I didn't have a daiquiri, but maybe next time we visit, we'll try one of those. read more

I stopped in for an early dinner after reading good reviews about this place. I ordered the whole catfish. It comes with fries, bread, and jalapeños. I was not disappointed! The fish was fried to perfection. It was crispy, served piping hot, and seasoned to the gods! The size of the catfish was on the smaller side but for the price of the plates I really cannot complain. I got hot water cornbread which I'm not really a fan of anyway but it was sweet but very hard. The wait was pretty long, only I had read other reviews that mentioned long wait times , so I had came prepared to wait. I seen so many great reviews on the oxtails and it's so hard to find them in the restaurants without the Jamaican style taste too them. So I really want for the oxtails. I seen some reviews about over pricing . Personally the price of the oxtail plate was decent to me , a little over $26 . Which is around the price you'd pay for small pack with no sides at the local grocery store. The customer service was amazing . Very friendly and helpful drive thru. They were all out of peach cobbler so the kind lady with blond hair gave other suggestions. It was even raining a little and they were nicely with calmly bringing orders to the cars . Couldn't be my dramatic self because I'd be running and throwing all the orders in the car trying to avoid getting my hair wet lol !! Anyways , the food was nothing to brag about honestly. Greens were basic and very much bland probably needing some accent salt and vinegar, the black eye peas were tasteless and had green beans and bell peppers in them which I found to be weird, Mac and cheese was decent but nothing to cause commotion over and the oxtails were so bland. They were tender but didn't really have that southern touch too it . Honestly it wasn't nasty at all , but its not something worth not cooking at home and spending money for. My daughter got the bbq wings and fries which she stated that the wings were "bussin" (means good in the hip world lol) . She did say that I needed to mention that they punked her (didn't give her enough) on fries. I'm likely to return because the customer service alone makes me interested in what else they have . I passed by this place a few times when my job has me working at the Red Bird Mall and each time I wanted to stop but they do not have late hours and I am usually leaving work late. Since I was in the area on a Sunday morning, I decided to wait until this restaurant opened and be the first in line. I guess others had the same idea because there were several people in the parking lot before the restaurant opened to be the first in line for the lobby and the drive-thru. This was a tell-tell sign that this place is GOOD! I stood in line outside until the doors opened at 12noon and walked in. The employees greeted us and started taking orders immediately. There was great music playing on the inside. The young man that took my order was extremely polite and informed me that there were no desserts available for that day. I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to try their East Texas Pecan Cobbler but I decided to try a Coconut Runner daiquiri instead (the daiquiri was REALLY GOOD and you could taste the alcohol, which is always good)! I also ordered the 2pc Catfish Combo with a side of Mac n' Cheese. EVERYTHING was seasoned through and through and great portion size for the price I paid. The Mac n' Cheese was DELICIOUS and SO CHEESY AND CREAMY! I will be coming back, again, soon so that I can try the other entrees that this place has to offer (and hopefully I will be able to try their desserts too). read more
