We sat at the table for two near the door which had great lighting, and it was really fun to people watch as pedestrians roamed outside. Our server recommended a few cocktails - I got the Limelight which was delicious and my friend got one of the clarified cocktails, which was also very tasty. Honestly the alcohol flavor was masked super well so they're very dangerous drinks! Will have to come by to try some of the others. Our server was super helpful explaining & coursing out the menu, and we got a bunch of items to share. First up we got the scallop aguachile, which was tart and spicy and super refreshing, and the salmon tartare which was creamy and decadent and came with shatteringly crisp wonton chips. Really excellent starters, and they made me want to come back and get the rest some time! Then we split the ahi tuna tostadas and the crab avocado tostadas, which come 2 per order. Hugo O. came over to ask if we were sharing and helpfully had them plated one each per plate so we could eat them more easily, and also brought over a chili pequín hot sauce to complement the tostadas. They were so good! I'll be dreaming about both the tostadas and the pequín sauce for a while. The ahi tuna was super fresh and went so well with the accompaniments, and the crab didn't get lost in the other flavors on that tostada. The crisp tortillas underneath also held up really well to each bite; I'm so used to tostadas shattering upon first taste but the structural integrity of Hugo's were super impressive. For our main we split the fish of the day, which was seared Hokkaido scallop atop a bed of corn risotto. This also came pre-split into two bowls so we didn't have to do it ourselves, which was a super nice touch. The scallops were cooked to perfection, super soft and tender with an incredible crust, and the corn risotto was super creamy and savory. Almost a little too salty for me with the amount of cheese, but still so good I almost licked the bowl clean. Seriously good food here - sad it's a bit of a trek from where I live but I can't wait to come back to try more of the menu!

Best seafood in Dallas. Hands down…read more Is it expensive? Yes. Is seafood generally expensive? Also yes. Is it fresh and delicious? Yes and yes. I am from the Pacific Northwest and I love seafood. I've lived in Dallas for 3 1/2 years and have generally avoided it because anytime I've had it, its been disappointing. This is the first seafood place that's not a sushi place that I am obsessed with. It's a very small space, very intimate, can be a little bit loud at times depending on who's sitting next to you...but if you have the money and you're looking for quality seafood, this place is incredible. Perfect to celebrate a special occasion or a date night. highly recommend. service is great. We ordered the seafood tower and every single item on it was delicious. Definitely ask for some melted butter to go with your lobster. Im not big on poke but the poke was seasoned with sesame oil and was so fresh. The scallops were buttery and amazing. The oysters were the perfect size. Fresh? Not overly salty. The mignonette was perfect. This was the first meal I've been this excited about since i discovered otaru sushi...but other than that can't think of any other places where the food blew my mind and made my eyes roll back in my head. The thing is that seafood can be so tricky. The biggest part is the quality/freshness. Everything on the seafood tower was extremely simple, but it was also perfection. It was beautiful to look at as well.

I was craving a seafood boil recently, and ever since my partner and I moved in the central Dallas area, we found Sunset Crab shack and quickly made it our go to for seafood boil! The service is always so nice and even on the busiest of days, we have never had to wait for a table! The vibe is quaint, and definitely fits in the vibe of the local Bishop arts area as itself is a old house turned restaurant! It's also become really known for it's back patio where they host bands and djs! This time I ordered their Friday special which is a 1/2 pound of snow crab, 1/2 pound of shrimp, a corn, potato, and sausage all for $27! The reason I always find myself coming back is because of their sunset sauce! I have had a few places in Dallas and this sauce is just so good! I also order the spice flavor diablo, and I feel like they are the only place that really does not hold back with spice, which I LOVE! My boyfriend opted for a buffalo sandwich and he loved it! Safe to say we both left very satisfied!

We came during happy hour, so margaritas were only $3--definitely a nice perk! For our meals, we both ordered seafood boil combo bags, and overall, they didn't disappoint. I got a combo with crab legs, shrimp, corn, sausage, and three potatoes for just over $30. The portion was fair for the price, and everything was fresh and flavorful. I ordered mine extra hot, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite spicy enough for my taste. While the food was solid, I'd say it's not my top seafood spot. Still, it's convenient, affordable, and worth a try if you're in the area. I'd come back in a pinch, especially during happy hour!

However, when the food came out, about half of the shrimp still had the heads on. I brought this to the manager's attention (her name was Tay) because I simply wanted to understand why I was charged for head-off shrimp but didn't receive what I ordered. Instead of looking into it or trying to resolve the issue, she immediately told me that I was wrong and that she knew what I ordered. When I showed her the receipt confirming it said head-off shrimp, she became very passive-aggressive and mentioned that "she was tired and had a very long day". The conversation never led to a solution, apology, or any effort to correct the mistake. Instead I am stuck with food that I did NOT order. To make matters worse, once I got home and actually went through the bags, I realized one of the bags was completely wrong and contained something I didn't even order clams. For a $195 bill, I expected much better customer service and at least a willingness to address a simple concern. The way the situation was handled felt dismissive and unprofessional. These kids running this place need some real people skills all of them there are useless and lack basic customer service skills. Take your money elsewhere where. After a long day in transit, all we wanted was something deeply satisfying, the kind of meal that feels like a reward. When my mother suggested Aunt Irene's Kitchen, there was no hesitation. She spoke of it with the reverence reserved for places that become part of your personal geography former neighborhood staples, the kind you measure other meals against. Years ago, when she lived nearby, this was her spot. And now, standing beside her in a line that stretched out the door, it was clear we weren't the only ones holding onto that sentiment. The queue moved with surprising ease, a quiet efficiency that felt almost practiced. Inside, the energy was unpretentious and steady. Our cashier, while not particularly warm, was brisk and knowledgeable answering questions with the kind of clarity that suggests confidence in the product more than performance. We ordered simply: wings with fries, and two plates of fried fish with fries. The wings hadn't been part of the original plan, but a fellow patron mid-meal and visibly excited leaned over to insist. It felt like advice worth taking. And it was. The food arrived in its own time this is not a place for the impatient but what it lacked in speed, it more than made up for in flavor. The fish was crisp and tender, the wings richly seasoned, each bite layered with the kind of depth that doesn't rush itself. Then there was the jalapeño tucked alongside the plate like a quiet signature. It cut through the richness with a bright, deliberate heat, a small but memorable detail that elevated the entire experience. The dining room itself is modest and well-kept, with many opting to take their meals to-go or retreat to their cars. There's an ease to it all ample parking, friendly faces coming and going, a sense of community that lingers longer than the wait. Because that's the thing about places like this: they don't just feed you, they remind you why the wait was worth it.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

Knowledgeable about the menu & great recommendations. Kev was a joy to have as our server. The food is amazing & love the ambiance of the restaurant. My only complaint...we came in early Saturday prior to Stars game. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked if we had a reservation. We did not, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked to wait. Waited maybe 5-10mins. No biggie, A lot of open tables were available for immediate sit down. Again that wasn't a big deal. I had asked for a booth & wanted to sit in front room. The hostess said no a problem. She handed us off to a younger hostess and she took us to a table. I told her I had requested a booth. In the front room only 3 tables were occupied. I pointed out the booth and she said that's for party of 6. However, we could have the 1/2 table/booth. Made absolutely no sense because that was for a party of 6 as well. I made this comment & she just stared at me without saying a word. I didn't want to seem difficult and took the table as she just walked away. Kev was confused as we were. No good communication skills. It was an awkward encounter. The restaurant wasn't busy at all & never was whole time there. Kev wasn't sure why she didn't move us a requested & was puzzled himself. However i apologized to him & explained I wasn't trying to be difficult, but prefer booth sitting and most times we will wait for one. We left at 1:45p and restaurant was no busier than when we arrived. Reservation/Booth or not! I guess saying all of this, your front staff need to have more people skills when dealing with your customers. They are the face and first point of contact. Again Kev was amazing & food was outstanding!
