The ambiance is intimate as it is a smallish room but so inviting and comfortable with comfy chairs and tables, attentive service, nothing pretentious but the food and drinks were five star flavors and presentation. So glad this spot is in our neighborhood - just what North Oak Cliff and Bishop Arts needed. We will be back many many times!

It's a very cute small restaurant and it should be that way so that they can serve the quality of food that they do. I recommend this place to everyone I know after eating there. After a long day in transit, all we wanted was something deeply satisfying, the kind of meal that feels like a reward. When my mother suggested Aunt Irene's Kitchen, there was no hesitation. She spoke of it with the reverence reserved for places that become part of your personal geography former neighborhood staples, the kind you measure other meals against. Years ago, when she lived nearby, this was her spot. And now, standing beside her in a line that stretched out the door, it was clear we weren't the only ones holding onto that sentiment. The queue moved with surprising ease, a quiet efficiency that felt almost practiced. Inside, the energy was unpretentious and steady. Our cashier, while not particularly warm, was brisk and knowledgeable answering questions with the kind of clarity that suggests confidence in the product more than performance. We ordered simply: wings with fries, and two plates of fried fish with fries. The wings hadn't been part of the original plan, but a fellow patron mid-meal and visibly excited leaned over to insist. It felt like advice worth taking. And it was. The food arrived in its own time this is not a place for the impatient but what it lacked in speed, it more than made up for in flavor. The fish was crisp and tender, the wings richly seasoned, each bite layered with the kind of depth that doesn't rush itself. Then there was the jalapeño tucked alongside the plate like a quiet signature. It cut through the richness with a bright, deliberate heat, a small but memorable detail that elevated the entire experience. The dining room itself is modest and well-kept, with many opting to take their meals to-go or retreat to their cars. There's an ease to it all ample parking, friendly faces coming and going, a sense of community that lingers longer than the wait. Because that's the thing about places like this: they don't just feed you, they remind you why the wait was worth it.

Great service and great food. It's a Dallas staple. The staff has always been welcoming and excited to have my business. The restaurant exudes a small, casual, warm inviting atmosphere. Once you go black you will never go back to anything else. Because I had one taste of that black box at the time and it was over. I didn't think about eating anything else. The fish, wings, shrimp, crab legs everything is on point. Regardless of what you get the food is always hot, flavorful and every bite is delicious. The owner is very personable. The only problem that you will have is deciding what to get. My solution: get one of each. But definitely give Aunt Irene's a try.

I was craving a seafood boil recently, and ever since my partner and I moved in the central Dallas area, we found Sunset Crab shack and quickly made it our go to for seafood boil! The service is always so nice and even on the busiest of days, we have never had to wait for a table! The vibe is quaint, and definitely fits in the vibe of the local Bishop arts area as itself is a old house turned restaurant! It's also become really known for it's back patio where they host bands and djs! This time I ordered their Friday special which is a 1/2 pound of snow crab, 1/2 pound of shrimp, a corn, potato, and sausage all for $27! The reason I always find myself coming back is because of their sunset sauce! I have had a few places in Dallas and this sauce is just so good! I also order the spice flavor diablo, and I feel like they are the only place that really does not hold back with spice, which I LOVE! My boyfriend opted for a buffalo sandwich and he loved it! Safe to say we both left very satisfied!

Ya'll, these spicy bowls have taken the community by a chokehold, so I was stoked to finally try it. I drove up and not going to lie, I was nervous. Not the best looking area, even at 12PM on a Friday. I parked and entered the hole in the wall. The employee greeted me with a smile. I asked about the spicy bowl and unfortunately since it was a special only, they were not selling them that day. The following week, I noticed she was offering the spicy bowl on her website, so I placed the order online (because I certainly didn't want to wait around in the area) and picked up. The pick up was quick and seamless. Now, lets get to the spicy bowl. Ya'll! I clutched my pearls when I saw that with taxes, the spicy bowl ended up being about $20. But when I saw how massive it was!? It fed me for 4 days and it is DELICIOUS! Plenty of chicken, I just wish I had a bigger bag of ruffles to go with it. I will definitely be back top support!

I appreciated the use of a beeper system while waiting--it's an efficient way to manage guests. However, the wait ended up being longer than expected, even though the restaurant didn't appear particularly busy. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. The potato itself was unseasoned, and the Cajun sauce was poured on so heavily that it overwhelmed the dish rather than complementing it. The grilled chicken also tasted somewhat processed. I ended up adding sea salt just to finish the meal. I didn't personally try the salad, but my relative said it was good, although it could have used a bit more dressing. Overall, the food lacked the flavor and balance I was hoping for.

My partner on the other hand ordered the fajita plate and it was a let down. The chicken, sausage and shrimp were ok but the fajita steak was so dry and tough. I couldn't eat swallow one and just spat it out. Very disappointing. I would come back for the oysters :)
