I ordered a whole catfish and 3 oysters fried ex crisp, on 11/13/23 around 6pm be exact, after started eating something didn't taste right so all of a sudden my stomach started to feel queasy and I began to vomit and dry heaving until my voice was gone. I was told when I called to bring it back to be refunded, in which is a very inconvenience, guess I'll freeze it until I take it back, along with the pictures I was asked to take as evidence...unclean business..... just be careful of what you put in your mouth, might just land you in the hospital. read more

This place is in the heart of South Dallas on Lancaster road. You yelpers will rarely catch me in this part of town but I was roaming the streets because of my work. The outside might be kind of sketch, but I could probably eat off of the floor on the inside. I was surprised at how clean it was! I was greeted by the owner's brother. He was such a sweetheart and really carried on a great conversation as my catfish and shrimp were being prepared! He is very catering to his customers and everyone seems to know him really well. The fish and shrimp were piping hot and tasted like they were alive only a few minutes ago. I heard they got all of their Seafood from Galveston Texas. The shrimp was fried hard just like I like it, but the catfish could have been fried a little harder. I am very salt sensitive, so the flavor was great to me. Their fries were yummy and seasoned to perfection. I really like how they do their bread. They don't just slap on 2 slices of bread and call it a day, they Grill both sides with butter I'm assuming which really tops the meal off. My husband is an avid fisherman so we usually fry it up at home. Unfortunately, I probably won't be making a special trip back out here. In fact just take me to J&S Catfish. Located in south dallas is this hole in wall food stop serving up fried foods. They're name sake-the catfish is their most popular dish and honestly a must try for first timers. This was what I got and I was pleasantly surprised. Fish is made fresh in the restaurant so it comes out hot and tasty. Despite my lack of NOLA roots, this flavor seemed strangely reminiscent of good cajun cooking. Solid seasoning that I was pleased by. Not as spicy as I would like but with how fresh they make it, custom orders is likely a possibility. Nicely complemented by hot sauce. Lastly are the portions. Anytime I pay for meal and cannot finish in one sitting, I KNOW that bang:buck ratio is out of this world. Definitely worth a visit. Hey I love my seafood, and I had to have some catfish when I was on that side of town. Order: Whole catfish with fries, white bread, and hushpuppies. Let's be honest, it's not upscale. But very clean! In the dining area and in the back as well. (I was peepin' the scene while he took my order.) It's very fresh because there is a fish market next door. Everything is made to order so its super hot. The fish was good, but it desperately needs some Zatarain's, seasoning salt and pepper. Just some type of flavor. The fries had more flavor than my fish :-(. But those hushpuppies had a hit of that jalapeno heat and I love it..
