I also got the oxtail plate which was over rice with collard greens and macaroni for the sides. Cornbread came with the collard greens. The catfish was good. My fault for not letting them know to fry it extra hard. That would have made it perfect. The oxtails were plentiful. I got the peach cobbler for dessert because why not? Loved it. Without going into great detail, the sides were disappointing to me personally. That does not mean the next person won't love them. Those plates were full full. Just know that you will not finish in one sitting.

Parking directly in front isn't ideal due to how it's structured. The staff were okay, place looked clean. Now for the food, we got the smothered pork chops, rice, greens and yams. Greens 4/10 ( had a weird taste ), yams 7/10 looked like the canned ones but not other real complaints. The gravy that the pork chops were cooked in was good but the pork chops were very tough. Both of them were tough and one was nothing but bone. Maybe two or three real bites of meat from it. Now my daughter got the oxtail casserole ( that was the best thing out of both of our plates ) the cabbage was pretty good 6/10. Mac and cheese lacked flavor 5/10. I may go back and try the fried food options but that's only if I'm in the area. Will not make a special drive for the food.

We arrived around 11:45/12 with no reservation. They were busy so we decided to sit at the bar…read more Food and drinks were great. We tried the oysters, crab claws, french toast bites, shrimp & grits, shrimp Caesar salad, & more. We were disappointed that the bartender wouldn't honor the happy hour that's listed on their menu and website from 11am-1pm. He didn't even give us a reason why. We didn't want this to ruin our experience so we opted out for the back and forth. So beware about that. Other than that great food.

The space itself was surprisingly small but the staff was very friendly. We were a walk in and the hostess was able to accommodate but gave us a time limit as a reservation would be incoming. The bar ended up opening up so we sat there. I got the short cakes + crispy chicks and was left amazed. It was recommended by multiple staff and I see why. The others of my party weren't really impressed with their food but would give it a try again. The food came out at various times with mine being one of the first to come out. We did get the honey buns as a starter which I wouldn't get again but they were good. I did just realize that the honey buns I ordered were supposed to come with three. I only received two. Had I not reverted back to the menu to look at what I had for this review, I wouldn't have noticed. I also wouldn't order them again.

My wife has been a half-dozen times, but last Saturday night was my first visit and I wondered how…read morethis almost 50 year-old gem had escaped my culinary delight. The cocktail menu is diverse and unique. I took our excellent server's (Kayla) recommendation and had the Bryan St Martini, which is a gin-based martini with a a lemon stuffed olive topped with black caviar. My wife had the Spiced Pear 75, which she loved. Since they are cuisine francaise, our table started with the escargot bourguignon, which has the typical six snails, but instead of butter+garlic+herbs, they were in a cream sauce and then topped with more escargot on top! The complimentary bread (and butter) served when we sat down were perfect to top with escargot and dip into the cream sauce. Our dining friends order the beet carpacio salad and we had the champagne-brie soup. After one spponful, I told Kayla that dish alone is worth another visit. My wife had the duck a l'orange and I had chicken roulade. For dessert, we split a bananas foster souffle, which requires 20 minutes prep time, which Kayla perfectly timed after we ordered when our entrees came. Overall, great food, GREAT service and a truly unique vibe!

My date and I had an incredible experience at St. Martin's Wine Bistro…read more The ambiance sets the tone immediately. It's dark, moody, and effortlessly romantic, with a live pianist playing throughout the evening. It's the kind of place that feels intimate without being stuffy, perfect for a date night. The service was honestly some of the best I've had in Dallas. My water never dropped below two sips from full, the team was that attentive. It became amusing (in the best way) how on top of everything they were. Our waiter, Rene, was outstanding. He provided stellar recommendations from starters to entrées, drinks, and desserts. I trusted him enough to let him choose my glass of wine to follow my cocktail, and he nailed it. He also walked us through the menu in detail, which was incredibly helpful as first-time guests. The food absolutely delivered: * Shrimp St. Martins - Five jumbo de-veined shrimp in a rich, butter-like sauce that was decadent without being overwhelming. * Frisée Aux Lardon Salad - Rene thoughtfully split this tableside and served it onto individual plates. The dressing leans heavily Dijon-forward, so order accordingly if you're not a mustard fan. That said, the bacon was some of the best I've ever had: thick, slightly sweet, and perfectly cooked. * Sea Bass Ratatouille - Served over a tomato sauce, it was flavorful, well-balanced, and not too heavy. * Rack of Lamb - An extremely generous portion (which I happily helped my date finish). It was boldly seasoned and on the saltier side, which I personally loved, though I understand that may not be for everyone. * Affogato - A simple but perfect way to close out the meal. Between the romantic atmosphere, top-tier service, and excellent food, this is easily one of the better dining experiences I've had in Dallas.
