Daily catfish special! Piping hot!! Extremely delicious!

You got new Austin fans! We will definitely add this to our stops when we are in the area!

I wanted some gumbo so I yelped to see what was close to me, and Muckle Cajun Kitchen came up. The cup of gumbo was too small for $6.99 and the pint was big enough (especially if it was good) for $9.99. The tast was good. It wasn't too spicy or oily. It came with 6 shrimps (small came with 3 shrimps), sausage (which is tasty)and shredded chicken with 4 crackers. The place wasn't crowed but enough seating for a very small group. I would recommend.

Going to post a review because the food is fire! More people definitely need to attend. It is my favorite boudin in all of DFW. They are also fresh and made to order. I also ordered the gumbo and crawfish etoufee. Gumbo was full of shrimp and sausage and flavor was great. The crawfish etoufee was creamy, delicious and also filled with crawfish. This is my 3rd time visiting and the food has been amazing every time. It is definitely a hole-in-the wall shop, so be sure to spread the word. This spot deserves recognition.

I ended up at Mickles mainly because of their reviews plus they were about 5-10 mins from where I was located. It was a little hard to find in the shopping center but it's right in the corner next to a dance school. Upon entering you immediately got an I'm at home feeling. I was greeted and given plenty of time to figure out what to order. I really wanted to try the gumbo everyone was raving about but my tastebuds said otherwise. When I ordered the owner stated all food was made to order & was that okay. I stated yes & the wait wasn't too bad, just don't be in a rush. Food: 2 piece dark with fries & a small side of red beans & rice -- $9.07; let me tell you, those red beans spoke to my soul ! Their a must try. The chicken was just as delicious with a nice crunch. I was starving but ended up still taking some home. Drink: Lemon Sweet Tea -- $2.15; I was hesitant about getting something to drink but I ended up getting the tea which was just right. Maybe a little too sweet for my taste buds but still better than any other place. Ultimately, I will definitely be back if I'm in the area. The owner was very personable & respectful.

Gumbo!! The real deal! The Fish Basket didn't make it down I-20!! Awesome!!

Gumbo is straight GAS!!! Boudin is pretty darn tasty itself. Boudin is cooked to perfection just wish it had the same kick as that gumbo. Definitely going back for both regularly. Hands down the best gumbo I've had in dallas and it's up there with some of the best I've had in Louisiana too.

Just in the area and love cajun good. We picked this little place based on the reviews. It was a great choice.

My favorite cajun restaurant for gumbo! The gumbo is next level, better than Razoos, better than Pappadeaux and all at a reasonable price with very friendly service and no wait! The gumbo is loaded with meat and spices and tastes really good! Authentic and delicious!

Dry old Overly Sated Chicken. Food running together

Dam I hate to give y'all 3 Stars Espescially in this Climate of What's going on in the World and With the BLM Movement and since I'm In love with your Gumbo BUT I decided to order on UBER EATS this time and DEFINITELY was not pleased with the food. First they had Tamper Evident Stickers on the bags that were Just thrown on there but not even closed up. You can tell they didn't even try to place it where the bag would stay closed. Secondly, my Gumbo Sampler plate had the Etouffee running in with the Beans that were jus not good. The Old Dry piece of Chicken thay probably had Sat up for hours was wayyy too Overly Seasoned. High Blood Pressure type shit. Now... The Turkey leg... I'm not sure about everyone else, but when u hear the words Turkey & Legs I expect a Nice Size Smoked Turkey Leg but it was a Boiled or cooked in an Oven(Not Sure, the Skin looked like when u Boil Something). I ucan't complain too much because it was 5 dollars but I simply wasn't feeling it. It was Spicy which I'm not used to in a Turkey Leg even if it is a Cajun Restaurant. But what's the point of the Foil if it's not even smoked. Or are y'all boiling them then putting it in a smoker. Either way something is missing. At the End of all of this, I must say I STILL LOVE YOUR GUMBO!!! Edit Update: A Few Hours later... Since I got the Gumbo Sampler, I figured I'd eat all the other stuff and Save the Gumbo that I Love for Later. Well, that Gumbo I Love So Much had 1 FUCKING SHRIMP in the WHOLE ENTIRE CUP... So for that I came back to take my 3 Stars down to 1... DO BETTER BLACK PEOPLE

Started with 3 pounds but it was so good I had to get two more pounds. The crawfish is seasoned the right way where the flavor is on the inside so they don't have to cover it in a dry spice. Also they were all big with just a few smaller ones. To top it off, having strawberry abita on tap is the perfect match for crawfish so I was extra happy. Saw the bread pudding on the menu and had to get it for dessert. It was warm, chocolate, and ate every bite. I would get more of everything I had The service was so friendly too and the LSU and Louisiana decorations made me feel like I was back there.

Delicious Southern Sweet Tea at that not what passes for sweet tea in Texas. I was not told to add grainy sugar into unsweetened tea like I was here. my tour guide was a local woman who's lived in the heart of New Orleans for 63 years, and was shocked and appalled when I read to her what the management of Charlie's Creole Kitchen replied to my critique regarding the Sweet Tea, (lack there of, as well as his belief that it isn't commonplace, or borderline essential) she was shocked in disbelief about as well as the astronomical prices we have to pay as their serving sizes in New Orleans are substantially bigger, for either equal or in some cases even cheaper prices. I don't really care how long someone's been running a kitchen (one way) constructive criticism should be embraced to increase the quality of an establishment, not gotten defensive over. Removing one star for having to go all the way to New Orleans to not feel like a crazy person about the Sweet Tea and Prices. This place is already really good! but could still be better! (OP) As someone from the Deep South, I have high standards for Southern Dives. First, a warning for my fellow Deep-Southerners: they must get away with this with their native Texan Patrons, but the lack of Sweet-Tea is Blasphemy. Unsweetened only. The Standouts: * Baked Stuffed Flounder (10/10): Hands down the best dish I sampled. The roasted red pepper sauce is incredible, and the cheese grits make it a real southern comfort platter. * Chicken, Shrimp & Bacon Corn Chowder (10/10): Truly New England-level quality. An absolute explosion of flavor. * Crab Cakes (10/10): Rich, delicious, and worth every bite. The Middle Ground: The Boudin Balls and Seafood Gumbo were solid (7/10), though the gumbo doesn't quite reach the level of a spot like Pappadeaux, it's decent. $11 for 3 decent Boudin Balls is highway robbery at its best. The Fried Seafood Platter was good, 7.5/10 but at $35, the platter is on the smaller side, especially only given one piece of catfish. The Oysters & Shrimp were good, the Crawfish decent, Catfish was decent, it had a small hint of fishiness, but it was good overall nonetheless. The side salads (3/10) the after thought of the menu, chopped head of lettuce smothered in ranch (or Italian) with one banana pepper, and one slice of tomato that looks like it was suppose to be on a burger, no toppings at all. Truck stops have better prepared salads. Which wouldn't typically be a problem if this was a budget-friendly eatery, but for its Texas-Sized prices, And New-York sized portions. The oversight of the Sweet-Tea and a decent side salad is for sure a miss. It might fully please Texans, but it left somethings to be desired from a non-Texan southerner. That being said! It is absolutely well worth the visit! The food was all above average for the region, the service was friendly, attentive and fast, the food came out quickly and efficiently. The location isn't great, but not bad. a little tight and congested, the interior is very mom & pop feeling which is nice. I truly did enjoy my experience, misses and all. After a long day in transit, all we wanted was something deeply satisfying, the kind of meal that feels like a reward. When my mother suggested Aunt Irene's Kitchen, there was no hesitation. She spoke of it with the reverence reserved for places that become part of your personal geography former neighborhood staples, the kind you measure other meals against. Years ago, when she lived nearby, this was her spot. And now, standing beside her in a line that stretched out the door, it was clear we weren't the only ones holding onto that sentiment. The queue moved with surprising ease, a quiet efficiency that felt almost practiced. Inside, the energy was unpretentious and steady. Our cashier, while not particularly warm, was brisk and knowledgeable answering questions with the kind of clarity that suggests confidence in the product more than performance. We ordered simply: wings with fries, and two plates of fried fish with fries. The wings hadn't been part of the original plan, but a fellow patron mid-meal and visibly excited leaned over to insist. It felt like advice worth taking. And it was. The food arrived in its own time this is not a place for the impatient but what it lacked in speed, it more than made up for in flavor. The fish was crisp and tender, the wings richly seasoned, each bite layered with the kind of depth that doesn't rush itself. Then there was the jalapeño tucked alongside the plate like a quiet signature. It cut through the richness with a bright, deliberate heat, a small but memorable detail that elevated the entire experience. The dining room itself is modest and well-kept, with many opting to take their meals to-go or retreat to their cars. There's an ease to it all ample parking, friendly faces coming and going, a sense of community that lingers longer than the wait.
