Hands down best Mac & cheese Big portions too. Curried potatoes were good. I came in after work at 4pm just wanting a beef patty, but they sold out so I just got an oxtail egg roll and 2 sides. Really good. Piping hot, great seasoning Didn't want to share !

Came here with my coworker for lunch and as I've never had Jamaican food I was excited for this visit. It's a small mom and pop shop and the customer service was decent. I ordered the Jerk Chicken and it comes with two sides (I got yams and okra and tomatoes) and they give you plenty! I can say I was surprised to see the yams and okra and tomatoes as I didn't associate that with Jamaican food. The okra and tomatoes were spiced nicely but a little mushy. The yams were very tardy and highlight of the meal! The jerk chicken had the typical spiced but was a tad bit dry. I was able to taste my coworker's order of plantain and I wasn't that impressed. I'm not sure I'd return to this location but I'll definitely try Jamaican food again!

I almost didn't try this place because the Yelp rating was not above 4 Stars. Luckily, I have a separate set of rules for restaurants serving Pigs Feet and Goat dishes. Put those on the menu, and I'm showing up. Obviously, they did not disappoint!!!!! People, please wake up and realize one thing. Finding and devouring beautiful dishes is the goal of ordering food from a restaurant. JAMAICA MI HUNGRY SERVES BEAUTIFUL, DELICIOUS DISHES AND I AM OFFICIALLY A FAN. The End. JMH, See ya'll soon... and often. Be ready.

I'm sorry but I can't get enough of this place! I come here for the oxtail plate with the macaroni and cheese with cabbage and it is ALWAYS ON POINT. I had been looking for authentic Jamaican food and finally found it. The portions are large and the food isn't pricey at all - and I love the mild beef patties! I'm glad I live a little far so I'm not there everyday!

Best jerk chicken in DFW. It's juicy with a nice grilled smoke flavor and not baked. The Mac and cheese is delicious and they sell out all the time. Be patient because it gets busy and it can take 10-20 mins for your order but it's worth it.

Why ain't nobody tell me that the Trinis had the oxtail game on lock?…read more I've never had oxtail this tender in my life. It fell off the bone. You literally didn't even need teeth to eat these oxtails. The plate came with a lot of food too: A generous portion of oxtails of all different sizes: big ones, little ones, medium size.... But all of them were meaty and incredibly flavorful. It came with my choice of spinach or cabbage. I chose the cabbage, and it was delicious. It also came with rice and peas, two pieces of plantain, and macaroni and cheese. This was a big plate, full of food! But this is Texas, so I'm not surprised. I also wanted a little cocktail, so I asked the lady at the counter if the rum punch was strong. She gave me a slow nod and that should have prepared me, but ya girl was not ready. I got the blue rum punch, I think it was Caribbean breeze flavor. It tasted like it had coconut milk in it, but I couldn't make out the other ingredients. What I could make out was that rum. That rum was loud! And pronounced! I wanted a strong drink and I damn sure got it! How strong was it? Well...I'm not a lightweight but I barely got through a third of the cup. I was feeling it after the first few sips. If I drank that whole thing I knew I was either going to be swinging from the chandeliers or asleep in the middle of a crosswalk somewhere. That rum punch will creep up on you. Y'all better take it from me and sip slow. This is definitely one of the best meals I've had in Texas and, hands down, the best order of oxtails I have ever had.l!

I would have just jumped in the ride and followed everybody to the repass/repast and ate there, but it was in Dallas. Specifically Oak Cliff. Like 37 minutes away according to GPS. I was like, "Umm, No. Family, I love yall, but he went too long, and I'm hungry NOW." Thankfully, Jamaican Cook Shop was just up the road. This was my first visit. The restaurant is in a busy but small strip shopping center. The inside of the restaurant screams Mom-n-Pop-Dive-Spot and is adequately decorated in Jamaican themes and colors. There are about eight small tables for dining. The restaurant is counters service. I didn't spy a traditional menu board. Pictures of the food with names of dishes are simply posted on one wall, and there's a well-worn menu on the counter from which to order. I ordered the small Jerk Chicken entree (2 pcs. of bird) which comes with two sides. My sides were plantains and cabbage. The friendly young woman at the counter was helpful in suggesting her favorite sides. OK, now to the food. This was really good Jamaican food. The entree was provided in a quality plastic container with lid suitable for any leftovers. My order came with a leg and a thigh, and the chicken was moist and tender with plenty of jerk sauce around it. The bird had excellent flavor, and even leaned to the spicy side, which was a plus. The sides tasted freshly prepared. The entree at $14-and-some-change was reasonably priced. There was steady traffic during my visit. I'm gonna bookmark this place for any time I'm passing thru or near Mesquite for a good solid comforting meal.

Patties came out fresh and crisp, but would have liked more of a golden color to mine. Service was cool, it just took a really long time (45-50min wait). You can sit inside, but it's rather small.

We ordered via online and realized they relocated. Of course we had to order multiple things to get a feel of their consistency. LET'S GET RIGHT INTO IT; We ordered the Pineapple Juice - (8/10) : The juice was good Hisbicus Tea - (4/10) : The tea was made with cane sugar; that defeated the purpose of a healthy and delicious tea. I really wanted it to be made with agave or date syrup. Side of Cabbage- (4/10) : Cabbage was very bland for fried cabbage, its wasn't seasoned at all and it wasn't cooked through enough to my liking. Side of Fried Brussel Sprouts - (7/10) : Brussel Sprouts were decent and actually seasoned. They just weren't mind blowingly good so a 7 was the best I could give it. Vegan Jerk Oxtail with Mushroom Rice - (8/10) : This right here was great however it was giving more vegan meatloaf then it was oxtail. We had to think of it as a meatloaf for us to be fully satisfied with the flavor. Overall though it was good and we enjoyed it. Vegan Lobster Mac and Cheese - (9/10) : This was the STAR of the show. It was delicious, creamy and the lobster pieces actually were giving lobster lowkey. We enjoyed this one the most and would return just to get this. The Ambiance of the restaurant was cool and definitely would be worth sitting in and enjoying the meals. The decor was decent inside and inside the bathroom, however, the bathroom needs to be upgraded. My rating... DEFINITELY would recommend the Lobster Mac and Cheese, we will return to get it again and maybe try another vegan option. I would totally recommend, GO TRY IT OUT! They also have non-vegan options that others rave about!

The establishment itself is small and when entering it isn't entirely clear if one is supposed to sit at a table and wait for a menu or order at the counter. We ended up ordering at the counter after the server gave us a menu. (A sign in future might be helpful). Our server was very nice and answered our questions as we tried to figure out what best to eat. Overall the food tasted good though I think I'm used to a more robust flavor. I would give the place more stars but for a few things: (1) it was 70ish degrees outside but it was warmer inside the restaurant (seemed like they had the heat going very strong); (2) there were cartoons playing on the only TV and it might have been nice to have music or other Chanel options but there were kids present so presumably the cartoons were for them; and (3) we were told there were no restroom facilities. This latter issue was very surprising as I believe it is against state regulations to not have public restrooms in an eatery. A sign alerting customers to this inconvenience might also be advisable.
