While searching for something else, I came across this place. I sat in my car and read the reviews and almost decided not to go in, but I figured I should give it a chance. When I arrived, a beautiful older woman took my order. It was her first day, and she excelled at customer service. The establishment was clean, and my food was cooked to order. I ordered chicken and one piece of fish. I intentionally chose one piece because I know how Bob's can be when it comes to what's advertised versus what you actually get. Unfortunately, the so-called catfish was disappointing. I have no idea what kind of fish it was, but it definitely wasn't catfish. Look at my pics and decide for yourself. After hearing about the amazing lemon pepper seasoned catfish and shrimp I decided to drop in for lunch. I cannot gatekeep this seafood, so sharing the greatest Wednesday special to be had! This was a tasty $8 catfish and shrimp special. The special is an entree platter, serves with hand cut russet fries and a small tossed salad. Also, worth mentioning, the salad was good. I tried the southern food restaurant close to my hotel this week. A home cooked meal on the road sounded good. I ordered online and waited for the alert that my order was ready. About 45 minutes on a Tuesday night. The location itself is not exactly easy to get to, and finding a parking place in the small strip mall was difficult. I would recommend delivery next time. The positive part is the chicken was amazingly tender. Fried, but not dry. I ordered a 3 pc combo and it was more than I could eat. The okra was also perfect. I ordered hush puppies and a side salad, but got two side salads in my to-go bag. No biggie, as I don't need the carbs anyway The restaurant has limited seating inside against the wall. This is a mostly Togo ordering type place. My mans at the front counter is prompt and polite. Food took a little time but it's understandable because it's made to order and wow it was fresh!! I recommend ordering online then picking up. I ordered the 4 wing combo and it came with fries, pickles, jalapeño, and some rolls. I also ordered the fish and 4 shrimp combo with coleslaw and okra. I was really excited to try Dat Chicken due to the reviews. I won't say it was a bad experience but I was expecting more flavor. Perhaps it was an "off day"; maybe I am not the target audience. I grew up cooking southern soul food so comparing my own cooking and my family's to take out probably isn't fair. The food was definitely fresh, the service was awesome and I love to support small businesses. I say give it a try and see if you are the target audience for Dat Chicken. I go to this location quite often. I would suggest calling in because they do take a minute to make your order. I enjoy the friend chicken with heavy seasoning and their catfish. The pricing is also great especially compared to other fast food chicken/seafood restaurants. Service has always been good on each visit. I recommend. read more

I ordered the food on grub hub it was supposed to be ready in about 45 minutes and I waited an hour before I left my house. When I got there, they didn't have my order. It didn't come through or something wasn't working. So I had to sit and wait for the food. It was hot. The chicken was good cook well seasoning was good. The fish was some big pieces of big fillets and it wasn't bad either so route it was a decent experience. I will go back. read more

UPDATED March 1, 2022 I've upgraded to 5 stars, because the chicken is always consistent in flavor and always moist. My first time there, will be going back for sure! My catfish place was Ronnie's catfish, it's close to my house. They closed Down so I decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. Got the 2pc catfish fillets with okra and the fish was so fresh and seasoned good ! They gave me a lot of okra tasted so fresh and they added some kind of seasoning that tasted good. When I first found this place I was excited. The aroma was heavenly. However my wait time was NOT! Waiting on food here is extremely lengthy. Even ordering through a delivery service is a gamble. Many times my delivery driver would leave and the service would have to find someone else to deliver. Of late, the employees have been rude. So much so, I have decided not to order here anymore. The inside is stuffy and hot. During the summer, the air does not work so it is really hot on the inside. While the flavor of the chicken and fish is very good, the service has to match!!! read more

The people that work here are super nice. Menu has a lot of options. Went to get takeout on a Saturday night and it didn't take too long. My son had the chicken strips and liked it. I have tried fried chicken, catfish and shrimp from a few places in the DFW area and this place is really good. They catfish filled is actually full pieces and not sliced in half like some places I ordered. Every piece was seasoned perfectly and not just fried well to give the appearance of being seasoned. Went here after work, it was a 28 minute wait after I was told 10. It was cheap though 3 piece dark, fish and shrimp combo and a Pepsi can for $25. Went in and ordered my food and payed after I payed they told me they didn't have an item I had already paid for, chose another item off the menu that was a lower price then what I got and they just offered me bread, told me it would be a 25 minute wait and ended up waiting for more than an hour for our food while there was other people coming in and out getting their orders we left without my full order because we couldn't keep waiting just went to waste my time and money read more

If an order is ready, call the customer's number and serve it fresh instead of holding multiple orders just to hand them out all at once. Better communication, order accuracy, and attention to food quality would make a huge difference.
