New green beans, please bring back the OG green beans!

Babes is always great, awesome atmosphere and food... however, this location changed their green beans. Before, the green beans had great taste, almost a bit roasted. I could eat the whole bowl myself. However, now, they remind me of canned Thanksgiving green beans that everyone skips over. Please bring the OG green beans or offer both!

Yes the chicken, mash potatoes, skillet corn, skillet green beans, biscuit and salad with vinegrette is always good....but how they sneak peach cobbler on the menu, and ain't tell me. That's my fav pie.

Literally walking out of that place and just saying I loved it. I've been here before and loved it, but I'm choosing to write a review now due to one thing. That one thing is a person, her name is Lily. She was very polite and outgoing. She said I looked like a Disney princess when she's literally a MODEL. If someone can somehow get me in touch with her I'd love that, I bet we'd be good friends. Adored her vibe and personality! She def deserves a raise, even though I bet she has already gotten one because she's that good. Oh and the food was good, as always. P.S. I love the butter lol.

Delicious chicken but very expensive meal for what you get. I guess you pay for the ambience. I'll go, but you gotta pay.

The smoke from the kitchen basically consumed the dining area and was very irritating. It eventually dissipated after a while, but I wouldn't recommend infants in this environment. After our party was seated, it took 15-20 min before our waiter greeted us and provided water; that was a bit annoying. After we got our orders in, things were smooth sailing from there. We were a large party and our waiter did a pretty good job at managing us and all of our requests. Food: they do not waste time bringing the food out. Most of our orders came out within 10 minutes! I ordered the Short Rib (unfortunately not pictured). It was hot, tender, and seasoned well....very good. It came on a bed of rice and some type of sauce. I was not a fan of either. The rice seemed uncooked and the sauce was too much and very liquid. It drowned the rice and practically made it soupy. I would have been fine with just the short rib. I also ordered a side of black eyed peas... also not a fan. It was undercooked and I didn't love whatever seasoning was used to prepare it. Other items I tried: Fries, Cornbread, Yams, and Soul Rolls. These were all tasty, specifically the soul roll. It came out crispy, hot, and stuff proportionately. I could take every bit of what was inside. It's definitely a must try.

The service was excellent, the smoky dry ice upon arrival was a hit along with the warm towels to clean our hands. The chef even walked around greeting guests. The restaurants decor is classic cotton club era, cute and classy but also has tvs mounted playing classic shows. The ambiance is casual. The menu prices could be adjusted downward but it was a nice experience. I'd recommend if you're in the mood for soul food. The sweet potato cornbread was the best!

Soul Shack - Jerk lamb chops & garlic mashed potatoes. Jerk lamb chops were ok. scoop of mashed potatoes were sad, bland/dry.

Soul Shack - Soul rolls appetizer. Could use a little more flavor/seasoning but certainly worth a try.

I have to stay this beat any stadium food you could've gotten out the water, and the value emphasizes that! We got so much food for the price point, and it was all good! I personally got the chicken and pickle on a stick, and the dough babies which is a glazed donut / roll hybrid that is so delicious and warm, the glaze is very vanilla forward. Krispy Kreme has nothing on these. The chicken on a stick was good, however, the flavor was a bit too sweet for me, so I would get the powdered Nashville hot seasoning on it next time, but it was so delicious and came with some really good ranch that taste like it's made in house (which obviously makes it better!). My mom who I was dining with got the quarter pound chicken plate, and I much preferred the seasoning on this chicken, but it was all very yummy. It also came with a roll, two sauces, and tons of fresh cut fries, so if you're looking for some of those you don't have to wait for the fair just come to Mary Sue's! The young lady working the register was very sweet, when we ordered our beverages I wanted to get a watermelon, Arnold Palmer, and she was happy to oblige, and the drinks even had fresh fruit in the bottom super refreshing to pair with the meal. There's an array of different hot sauces. You can try to pair with your food, at a hot sauce, bar and some of them are HOT, so proceed with caution, but it's fun to be able to have a variety of choices. They weren't slammed when we came in, we were able to order easily, and there was a steady trickle of people dining within the place, yet the tables were regularly open, and being cleaned as able. They really play into the location, and had some music playing relevant to the concert we were going to which was a nice little pregame! As we were dining, the co-owner was even making rounds throughout the lobby and chatting with patrons, we talked to him for a bit, and there's so much passion behind the business that it's hard not to just feel joy being in his presence and having a meal. I'm wishing continued success to the establishment, and know this is the place I have in mind next time I'm in the area. Be sure to check the hours on Google, just to make sure you're able to go enjoy it when you're ready, because the ones on the door don't align. There's also ample parking so you don't need to worry about that, and the lot doubles as paid parking for events.
