I finally checked out Sunset Crab Shack in Oak Cliff for an early dinner with a friend. I'd always wanted to try this spot since it's close to home, though I was a little hesitant after reading some mixed reviews. We came during happy hour, so margaritas were only $3--definitely a nice perk! For our meals, we both ordered seafood boil combo bags, and overall, they didn't disappoint. I got a combo with crab legs, shrimp, corn, sausage, and three potatoes for just over $30. The portion was fair for the price, and everything was fresh and flavorful. I ordered mine extra hot, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite spicy enough for my taste. While the food was solid, I'd say it's not my top seafood spot. Still, it's convenient, affordable, and worth a try if you're in the area. I'd come back in a pinch, especially during happy hour!

Well my son offered to buy me lunch I wanted Seafood so I suggested sunset crab I haven't been in a while but the last time I had shrimp and crab build your own it came with corn, and potatoes low and behold when I got the menu it was as if I went through the twilight zone, the build your own is a rip off everything is priced separately and priced higher not the same at all, the corn, and potatoes are considered add ons and each one has its own price the the crab was OK but the shrimp wasn't the same as last time this time I had to Devein them who does that I couldn't eat that I just got through fighting my crabs to get the meat out of them and now i have to clean my shrimp I was very disappointed, and considering the shrimp was paid for I bought them home and gave them to my neighbors cat bon appetite they will never see me again this was terrible

Flavor is amazing. I made my own boil with snow crab, shrimp, sausage and corn. I mixed the garlic butter and cajun sauce. The shrimp and sausage had a lot of flavor and the sauce was great. The crab, it was a let down. It was so soft that when you broke it l, it didn't snap in half. It just bent. Had to really fight it to tear the shell. The meat would just shred instantly. It seemed really overcooked. The service is slow but they are really nice. Might just take some time to get their attention.

    Dookie king crab..

I never cared but listen when I tell you this... 70 dollars for king crabs and 25 dollars for 1/2 pound of snow crabs..... Mexicans should not be making sea food boils and it shows. This location is located in bishop so ofc it would be white washed but this place is TERRIBlE.... Has a 99 cent marg sale but after you taste the food it explains why.. I paid $75 for king crabs, 1 marg and 2 lemon drops. The sauce for the seafood boil was trash. They underscaled the crab leafs and the crab legs were SUPER flimblesy.. has no meat fr and only came with 4 legs.... RIP OFF very disappointed and Highly do not recommend this place to a soul at all.

Visited 7 January 2023 Our party of 7 (3 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 children) decided last-minute to get seafood boil. After briefly searching Google (I know! I should have crosschecked Yelp!) for something close to downtown Dallas, we settled for Sunset Crab Shack. It was an easy drive, and there was ample parking. We walked in and were seated quickly downstairs. It seemed very small, but there was also outside seating, and we saw stairs so assumingly upstairs seating, too. Off the bat, our waitress, Blanca, seemed disinterested, like she had someplace better to be. We asked for a new paper to spread across the table since the one we met there was already dirty. It took her forever to bring that, forevermore, to get us some water with lemons and another eternity to take our order. Speaking of lemons, we had to ask for lemons 3 or 4 times. Is there a shortage of lemons? She was stingy with the lemons!! When the food finally came, the fries were cold, the snapper was too salty, and the shrimp in the boil was excessively overcooked. The flavor of the boil was good, but the portions are small. We got the second-level heat (hot), and it was mildly hot. The dirty rice was the best thing I had there. The female bathroom has 3 stalls and only 1 handwriting sink. The male bathroom has 1 stall, but it was closed from inside with nobody using it. There is also a sink in the area before the bathrooms. I can't say I'll be back. The service was subpar, and the food is just okay. There are too many other options to choose from.

Absolutely horrible. I came to the store a couple times and food was good so I decided to order some to go tonight and lord have mercy - they did not clean the shrimp! Every single shrimp from my boil had shit in it still, absolutely disgusting, I could barely believe a restaurant would have the audacity to serve this to people. I will not be ordering ever again

Went with my daughter as it was my last night in town. I'm an Oak Cliff guy (Justin F. Kimball) and like supporting local businesses. It was crowded, but we got seated fairly quickly. I had a vodka martini which was good. We got a boil bag to split. Shrimp, King Crab Legs, mussels and crawfish. The bag came...nice presentation but it was warm not hot. Everything was good not great. The bag was off and for a place going for a Cajun feel, it did not have that feel. From the music to atmosphere. On a scale of 1-10. Sunset Crab Shack gets a 6.

Such a fun spot! We came on Sunday and service was amazing! Our server was the sweetest, she took really good care of us even though she was busy! Thank you so much for a great experience! All of our food and drinks were PERFECT!! From the Oysters, the ceviche and shrimp cocktail were great! Loved the outdoor seating and all the friendliness! I will definitely be back :)

Oh wow! This hit every spot The Ceviche Tostada was delicious. I waited a bit for the Mix Soup but when it came out, it was steaming hot. It was so yummy and was all gone. My date ordered the Shrimp & Sausage Boil, he enjoyed his food as well. There wasn't much of a wait on a Monday Night. Weekends are much busier. You should try it out!!

The place had a healthy crowd for that time of day, which is always a good sign. The layout is a casual mishmash of outdoor patios, indoor bars, and a mix of tables and high-tops. Located right across from the Kessler Theater, they clearly attract a steady stream of pre- and post-show guests. The overall vibe is a relaxed sports bar with a welcoming neighborhood feel. I went with the classic cheeseburger and swapped fries for onion strings. The burger was delicious, and the onion strings were a great choice, crispy, flavorful, and not overly greasy. Definitely give PHD's a try. I was impressed.

My favorite is probably the sliders, although i wish they came with a side of fries. Pretty much everything is a win. On top of the food, ive realized that the bar feels kind of like home to me. Im not a drinker and dont frequent bars, but heres why. The gm is a sweetheart. He has the sweetest relationship with his staff and you can tell from the way they interact how close they all are. I love going in and recognizing the staff and getting hugs from them. What else is cool- they pack up meals for the homeless twice a month. I think it's connected with the owners church but still using the space for that is awesome. I have come a couple times and plan to keep coming back. Charles always asks me if i want a ginger ale bc he knows thats all I drink. Things got off on the wrong foot when our server forgot my cocktail order and an appetizer which was the pork ribs. Minutes after ordering the cocktail, appetizer and a bottle of wine our server came back saying we needed to order every dish up front. At that moment we told them we do like to take our time and share dishes as they come out one by one and he honestly seemed happy to hear that. They then brought the wine but the cocktail was again completely forgotten. One of our other items showed up fist (kimchi pancakes), which I will say were great, but we then asked about the ribs and he confirmed he completely forgot about them. He said he put the ribs in as a rush and they would come out with one other dish. We said this would be fine, but not minutes after the ribs arrived all four other dishes showed up simultaneously. Our table was overcrowded, and it completely took away from the leisurely dining experience we were expecting. To make matters worse, two of the dishes--the baby carrots and the Korean glass noodles, were swimming in sauce, so much so we didn't want to eat them. While this may not be the case we felt rushed. We had received all of our food in less than an hour. The overall service made us feel like the restaurant was trying to turn the table as quickly as possible for the next reservation rather than provide a thoughtful dining experience. For a restaurant at this price point and pedigree, we expected much better pacing, attention to detail, and execution. Unfortunately, this visit fell well short of those expectations.

The other reviews are spot on in terms of lack of parking-- make sure you definitely give yourself enough time to park your car if you don't plan on using valet because Bishop Arts is honestly always busy no matter what day you go. This restaurant is a great photo op for the girlies! It's super beautiful and the decor just transports you to another place- you forget you're even in Dallas, it's so gorgeous. Our server only stopped by our table to take our food/ drink orders, but honestly, don't expect any great super over-the-top service here. It's nice and all, but no one seemed to be going above and beyond or even trying to provide a super memorable experience for their customers. I don't even remember our servers name. The food was good. We had ordered the Marinated Burrata ($18) with strawberry jelly/jam which was surprisingly a yummy combo. The sourdough was burnt though (lol) not "toasted" like described on the menu. For our mains, I got the Avocado Eggs Benedict ($19) and my mom got the Shrimp Salad ($24) and both were genuinely good! My mom's salad had a super refreshing vinaigrette ( perfect for a hot day outside! ) I was a little surprised to be honest, just based on my last experience. It was a nice time and the food was good. Restaurant and bathrooms seemed clean and organized. Service- don't expect much. Good place for a fun, cute, photo op brunch in Dallas.

The roads are very tight, and I ended up using valet, which is an added expense but probably the easiest option. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere transported you somewhere tropical. The décor is vibrant, colorful, and perfect for taking photos. While waiting for the rest of our party (our reservation was for 10 but we ended up with 8), the hostess kindly explained that we would be seated once everyone arrived and invited me to wait either at the outdoor high-top tables or inside at the bar. I chose outside so I could take pictures. While I was waiting, a manager (I believe his name was Gustavo) introduced himself and offered to make sure my mom received a complimentary birthday drink. That thoughtful gesture immediately stood out and set a welcoming tone for the evening. Once our full party arrived, we were seated promptly at our 6:30 reservation time. I'm very particular about cleanliness, so one thing immediately caught my attention. Although the table had been cleared, the seats still had food residue from the previous guests, and the floor beneath our table had not been swept. I asked our server, Chelsea, if it could be cleaned before we sat down. Unfortunately, the request seemed to be met with irritation rather than hospitality, and first impressions matter. The menu isn't large, but it offers enough variety without being overwhelming. Since it was our first visit, I asked for recommendations, but our server wasn't really able to guide us through the menu. As a kosher pescatarian, I ordered the Striped Sea Bass ($31) along with the Dreaming of Suze cocktail ($16). The cocktail was beautifully presented, although I requested light ice and received a full glass of ice instead. I also ordered tea, but it lacked flavor and tasted more like water. The sea bass itself left me wanting more. While there were two fillets, they were quite thin and served with the skin on. The highlight of the dish was actually the chickpea minestrone underneath the fish, which was flavorful and enjoyable. I don't mind paying premium prices for a meal, but I do expect the food to justify the cost, and this one simply didn't quite get there for me. Service also played a role in my overall rating. Our server was polite but fairly mediocre and lacked the warmth and personality that elevate a dining experience. With automatic gratuity added for larger parties, I couldn't help but feel that the service didn't reflect the required 20% tip. I always tip, but exceptional service should accompany exceptional gratuity. The reason this review is four stars instead of three is Gustavo. His attentiveness, kindness, and genuine care throughout the evening made a lasting impression. Before leaving, I made it a point to thank him personally because great hospitality deserves to be recognized. While Paradiso probably isn't a restaurant I'll return to because it doesn't align well with my dietary preferences, my mom thoroughly enjoyed celebrating her birthday there and said she would happily come back. If you're looking for a lively, tropical atmosphere with beautiful décor that's perfect for a girls' outing or celebration, Paradiso is certainly worth experiencing.

Unfortunately, everything else was a struggle from the moment we walked in. We didn't have reservations, but eventually found seats at the bar. Given how busy the place was, we figured the bar would mean faster, more attentive service. We were very wrong. We ordered two beers, a non-alcoholic drink, and three appetizers. The drinks arrived, and the appetizers followed about 10 minutes later -- fine so far. But there were no utensils. We had to ask for them, and we asked for plates as well, which never came. The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.

I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K
