A friend from out of town and I visited Hugo's for lunch this past Sunday and had an amazing time!…read moreEverything we ordered was phenomenal and all the staff treated us so well. We sat at the table for two near the door which had great lighting, and it was really fun to people watch as pedestrians roamed outside. Our server recommended a few cocktails - I got the Limelight which was delicious and my friend got one of the clarified cocktails, which was also very tasty. Honestly the alcohol flavor was masked super well so they're very dangerous drinks! Will have to come by to try some of the others. Our server was super helpful explaining & coursing out the menu, and we got a bunch of items to share. First up we got the scallop aguachile, which was tart and spicy and super refreshing, and the salmon tartare which was creamy and decadent and came with shatteringly crisp wonton chips. Really excellent starters, and they made me want to come back and get the rest some time! Then we split the ahi tuna tostadas and the crab avocado tostadas, which come 2 per order. Hugo O. came over to ask if we were sharing and helpfully had them plated one each per plate so we could eat them more easily, and also brought over a chili pequín hot sauce to complement the tostadas. They were so good! I'll be dreaming about both the tostadas and the pequín sauce for a while. The ahi tuna was super fresh and went so well with the accompaniments, and the crab didn't get lost in the other flavors on that tostada. The crisp tortillas underneath also held up really well to each bite; I'm so used to tostadas shattering upon first taste but the structural integrity of Hugo's were super impressive. For our main we split the fish of the day, which was seared Hokkaido scallop atop a bed of corn risotto. This also came pre-split into two bowls so we didn't have to do it ourselves, which was a super nice touch. The scallops were cooked to perfection, super soft and tender with an incredible crust, and the corn risotto was super creamy and savory. Almost a little too salty for me with the amount of cheese, but still so good I almost licked the bowl clean. Seriously good food here - sad it's a bit of a trek from where I live but I can't wait to come back to try more of the menu!

Best seafood in Dallas. Hands down…read more Is it expensive? Yes. Is seafood generally expensive? Also yes. Is it fresh and delicious? Yes and yes. I am from the Pacific Northwest and I love seafood. I've lived in Dallas for 3 1/2 years and have generally avoided it because anytime I've had it, its been disappointing. This is the first seafood place that's not a sushi place that I am obsessed with. It's a very small space, very intimate, can be a little bit loud at times depending on who's sitting next to you...but if you have the money and you're looking for quality seafood, this place is incredible. Perfect to celebrate a special occasion or a date night. highly recommend. service is great. We ordered the seafood tower and every single item on it was delicious. Definitely ask for some melted butter to go with your lobster. Im not big on poke but the poke was seasoned with sesame oil and was so fresh. The scallops were buttery and amazing. The oysters were the perfect size. Fresh? Not overly salty. The mignonette was perfect. This was the first meal I've been this excited about since i discovered otaru sushi...but other than that can't think of any other places where the food blew my mind and made my eyes roll back in my head. The thing is that seafood can be so tricky. The biggest part is the quality/freshness. Everything on the seafood tower was extremely simple, but it was also perfection. It was beautiful to look at as well.

Whenever or anytime we have guests in town and we know that enjoy Cajun cuisine, we always bring them here, if they haven't been to a Pappadeaux's. We come here for the food, but especially for the friendly staff members and managers that work here. Their instances far in between where sometimes things don't work out, like the kitchen or the type of service for example, they've always made it right here very friendly, very professional as long it's communicated they can fix it. And as far as locations go, we love the flavors here. Like maybe it's because of the demographics, but we feel like we get more taste and kick within the seasonings of the foods at this particular location. We tried them all throughout DFW area and this by far is our favorite. It's closer to where we live very convenient and as always, very clean and delicious with the signature Pappadeaux's decorations all around. Love coming here, and thanks to all who make this place great!

I ordered the salmon with king crab and asked for my salmon medium because I don't like it rubbery. Unfortunately, the texture just wasn't for me, and I could only manage a couple of bites. What really stood out though was the service. Our waiter immediately noticed and offered to get a manager to take the entrée off our bill. We told him it wasn't necessary, but he still went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. We also realized we didn't even check what time they closed (the boys made the reservation), and right as I was finishing my Bloody Mary, we asked for another. He came back and let us know the bar had already closed and said he wasn't sure why they didn't make a "last call." You could tell he was worried it might affect his tip, even though we reassured him it absolutely wasn't his fault. That level of service and care is exactly why we keep coming back. Always a great experience.

I asked the scanning tech working in the Cardiology Clinic who was working with me if by any chance she had eaten there . She acknowledged that she had and the food is prepared according to your request. After my appointment the next step before heading home was at Phat Matt's . It was dark wasn't sure they were opened. The open sign was lit . I turned the door handle to go inside . It was a small place dark with chairs and a table or two . Gave off vibes you can sit while you wait for you order to be prepared but once ready paid for proceed out the door you came in. . There wasn't any customers inside just a young man probably no more than 22 working by himself. The menu is posted on the wall in colorful chalk written by someone with a nice penmanship. My eyes focused on the catfish category on the wall. Oh before I forget its a "Cash Only" business . I had to look inside my wristlet to make sure I had money to pay for my meal. Some of the chalk writing was smeared . I learned the cook on duty when I visited was named Jacoby. He was average height thin he looked a little tired or maybe lacking some energy. He came to the counter to see if I was ready to place my order. I responded I was . I started out stating for me what I didn't want. On my 3pc catfish basket I did not want any hushpuppies or a slice of white bread cut in half or possibly toasted to be included. I didn't time Jacoby but its wasn't too long of a wait . I asked him if I could take pictures of the menu in case I wanted to stop by again if the food was good after my next appointment at the VA The food was smelling good nice and hot . My food was in a little paper basket inside a white paper bag . I grabbed a few napkins nearby. There was a tip jar in the counter . I left a couple of dollars as I picked up my order inside the white bag he had gently placed on the counter. Thank God for safe traveling grace and arriving mercies to my home . I stopped by QT on my way home to get a large frozen coke . Surprisedly the food was still pretty hot from my nineteen miles journey. I forgot to request my fish be fried hard paper on the side of the basket . I smelled it strongly from the moment I picked up my order from the counter. Fries were nestled under the three flaky crispy filets. The fries were soft kinda soggy but edible. I was able to eat this meal and enjoy for a couple of days . I plan to stop by again whenever I have my next appointment at the VA. Chef's ‍ kiss
