I have never received service as excellent as Tavernetta. This restaurant is the pinnacle of being attentive to its customers. Everything was so coordinated and our waitress was so well spoken. The ambiance was also great for a date night, but for me this place screams special occasions between a spouse or significant other. The food was excellent and crafted with care. They have a sommelier for the perfect wine choice. Appetizers I loved were the Buratta, Focaccia, cheese plate, and meat plate. I had gnocchi as my main dish and although it was very good, I should have went with my gut on the steak. That is just me knowing I like to eat protein, but the gnocchi was fantastic nonetheless. I went with some friends for happy hour on a Saturday afternoon and it was lovely! I tried their two different spritzes and they were both tasty. The orange ginger one was different and I really enjoyed it. The pasta flight was delicious! Definitely recommend checking it out and sharing small plates with a group. Honestly on the edge of a 2/5, unfortunately. Really had high hopes coming here. I'm really not a picky eater but for the price, I thought there really wasn't incredible flavor. We got the tagliatelle and the rigatoni. The rigatoni with lamb ragu was definitely better than the tagliatelle with lobster. The rigatoni was a nice salty flavor but nothing too deep. The tagliatelle really just tasted oily and didn't have much lobster at all. Our service was great and the restaurant is definitely upscale and nice atmosphere! My boyfriend and I were in town from Arizona to celebrate our 4 year anniversary and I am very happy we made a reservation at Tavernetta. We walked in and you see a beautiful open dining area. We got to sit next to the kitchen and it was really cool seeing how they operate. The staff was very friendly, the service and hospitality was top notch! Our server was very thorough about the menu and telling us other off menu items they had today. We started with the Fritto Mistro and it was perfect in every way, the breading itself had such great flavors, ours came with branzino. The fried lemons were actually really good!! Our second course was the Tagliatelle and the Doppio Ravioli. The Tagliatelle was so flavorful, there was a lot going on but everything married together so well. The Doppio Ravioli was so simple but so delicious. I actually really loved that the tomato was inside of the ravioli instead of the ravioli being in a tomato sauce. I loved having the lighter sauce because you can really tell the focal point of the dish is the homemade pasta. We finished with an Affogatto and Cortado. The honey gelato was so yummy!! There were good and not so good things about this restaurant. The burrata was one of the best I've ever had! The carpaccio was good but a bit over salty. The hamachi crisp was also very good! Now for main courses we got the osobucco, the cacio e Pepe and a pasta with quail meat. The pasta with quail meet was good, unique flavor and pasta was cooked nicely but I felt the Cacio e Pepe had too much pepper and the osobucco was so sweet that I had to send it back. Also our waiter was being a bit short with us at certain times saying he wouldn't give us the dessert menu until we completely finish our main course when we asked for the dessert menu which we found odd. Luckily the other waiter Troy was kind and helpful and kind of took over our table and checked in making sure all was good. Had such a great experience dining here! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about all of their items. Our server was more than happy to expand on anything we asked about. The sommelier was also fantastic with helping us choose. We started out with some Krug (not pictured) which I've been wanting to try for a long time. This was their Grande Cuvee 169EME and it was probably the best Brut I've ever had. To start I had the crudo and it was a bright and refreshing starter. The fennel and the chilis went well together. For my pasta I had the rigatoni. Such a great and deep lamb ragu. Pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce just kept giving. For the second I my friend and I split the agnello. By this point I was already very full and let my friend handle most of the dish but I did get in a few very tasty bites. The lamb loin was soft and moist and the pistachios gave a nice texture to balance it out. This place is a 10/10 and I am for sure coming here next time I'm in Denver. Upscale Italian at upscale prices? What's not to love? Do try to make a reservation, though. Unfortunately, we're past the price range of Italian restaurants that offer free bread, but the focaccia is a great starter - warm and fresh, as it should be. The burrata was also fantastic (you can't go wrong with spreading cheese on bread!), but do note that it doesn't come with bread itself. The crudo was incredibly fresh and it felt like the prawns had been caught within the hour. As for the entrees, the rigatoni was by far my favorite. Cheesy, chewy, savory, and delectable, this was wholeheartedly the best pasta of the night. It definitely helped fill the "no free bread"-sized hole in my stomach. The garganelli was good but a bit disappointing, as the flavor was a bit on the heavier side, and the duck seemed like an afterthought and was sprinkled among the pasta noodles. The lobster tagliatelle was pretty good and had a light spicy note that helped enhance the dish. The steak was incredibly well-cooked and very tender, and it had this absolutely beautiful sear that produced that perfect, not too hard crust that all steaks desire, much like how I desired more bread, preferably free. Paired with the potatoes, it made for a balanced, hearty feast. A great place for a fancy dinner. You'll be impressed. read more

It was our first time dining at Tavernetta and I really wasn't expecting much, since Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen these days, but i was so impressed with the quality and flavor of the food. We started with the burrata and beef carpaccio as apps (both were superb). Next, we each ordered a homemade pasta dish as our main. My boyfriend ordered the Tagliatelle with main Maine Lobster and our friend chose the DOPPIO RAVIOLI with Winter pear, Gorgonzola, Brown Butter and Sage. I sampled each of them, but my favorite by far was my dish: the GARGANELLI with Braised Duck, Spelt and Pecorino. It was incredibly savory and melt in your mouth delectable. Our Italian, loud family has bottomless pits of for appetite so this was the perfect gourmet, authentic establishment to try (almost) every item tapas style. The focaccia bread with an herby olive oil was divine on its own, but paired with the burrata dish elevated the flavors beyond. We ordered the pasta sampler to get a taste of each distinct style including the most simple ingredient but mouthwatering flavors, a Cacio e Pepe rigatoni style. This place NEVER misses. The staff is amazingly knowledgeable about all facets of the menu, drinks or food and they are always super nice. On this visit we sat at the bar during Happy Hour. My wife had the Penicillin and I the "Late for the Train", both cocktails were very tasty. For our "first course" we had the Focaccia service with Ricotta and BC Honey spread and Polpette (beef & pork meatballs), both were amazing and a great start, 3 meatballs was the perfect amount for two to share even though I totally could have eaten them all myself. We split the Insalata for our second course. The mix of greens with mint and fresh dill gave this salad a very dynamic taste, the dressing was light and very flavorful. For our 3rd and final course we split the Roman Pasta Flight. We should have taken some of this home with us but when you start enjoying the multiple different pastas, Rigatoni Cacio E Pepe, Rigatoni Alla Gricia, Bucatini Carbonara and Bucatini All Amatriciana, there wont be any left to take home. As you would expect, the pasta was cooked perfectly, al dente. The sauces were all very different but enhanced the flavors perfectly. There was a nice mix of couples and businesspeople but is never got loud and we enjoyed out time here. The Cacio E Pepe was different with it not being the traditional spaghetti, but it worked well since the pasta held more of the sauce. We loved the Arancini and could have had several orders they were so good. The Parmigiano Reggiano E Balsamico was also very good. Tavernetta is a dining experience. It's much more than a place to nourish oneself. I'm a firm believer and avid proponent that a 5-star meal can be found just about anywhere. It's all subjective, right? Well, Tavernetta is built different. From the moment you enter you can tell you're not in any ordinary restaurant. It's a song and dance that you're immediately immersed in. You're greeted not by one, not by two, but probably by seven people within minutes of entering and sitting down. It sways on the side of fine dining, but it's notable to emphasize how approachable Tavernetta is. It's not stuffy, not pretentious, it's hospitality by textbook definition. And in my opinion, quite possibly the best overall service in all of Denver. Now, let's talk food. The wife wanted a nice meal for her birthday and Tavernetta delivered just that. Here are a few dishes that stood out. FOCACCIA ($7) // Olive Oil, Red Wine Vinegar, Grana Padano. House made. Light and airy, like biting into a cloud. Even without oil and vinegar it was exquisite. BURRATA ($19) // Trapanese Pesto, Focaccia Breadcrumbs, Basil. One of the best presentations and executions of burrata I've had. This entire dish is everything I love about my Italian heritage. Combine it with the Focaccia bread and you can die on the spot. CARPACCIO ALLA CIPRIANI ($22) // Grass Fed Beef, Grana Padano, Espelette. Not for the faint of heart. Up there with the incredible carpaccios around. Rich, buttery, salty, it just melted in my mouth. TAGLIATELLE ($34) // Maine Lobster, Calabrian Chile, Preserved Tomato, Celery. House made pasta and you can taste the difference. My only critiques are I would've loved more of a punch from the chile and the lobster not being diced too small so I could've gotten more of a pronounced seafood flavor. Still well composed and worthy of recognition. Back to the point I made earlier, the hospitality was extraordinary. Yes, you have many folks dining here for a special occasion, but to be honest for the level of service I expected the bill to be $100 more. From the wine recommendations to the multiple servers constantly bussing the table or refilling water glasses, going over the daily specials or taking orders without writing anything down, you simply cannot say one critical thing service wise. Here's our experience. 1) Food: Everything we ordered was presented well and tasted amazing. To feed two of us, we got the focaccia, burrata, tagliatelle, roasted root vegetables, and zucchini. Everything was perfect but the standouts were the burrata, tagliatelle, and zucchini. Too full after dinner, we sadly passed on dessert. 2) Drinks: Starting off at the bar, my wife loved the white Negroni. For a more sweet drink, I got two glasses of the Batida Amarga. A Brazilian drink, it has cachaca, passion fruit, and sweetened condensed milk. It's not overly sweet. 3) Service: From start to finish, it was top-notch. They were accommodating with me as I waited for my wife to arrive. Everyone was friendly, professional, and efficient. 4) Atmosphere: It's a spacious restaurant with a classy bar and space. I was in town for my 50th birthday and ended up being sick for almost the entire week I was in CO. Before heading to the airport, my brother and I decided to have a smaller celebration lunch here. I love it here. Lunch features a two course menu, can choose between 3 items (salad, vegetables, soup of the day- today was Lonster Bisque.) Holly was our server and she was terrific. Friendly, helpful, very professional. Started with the burrata. A must here! They bring over homemade focaccia which is crazy delicious. We definitely didn't have only one piece. I'm not going to tell you how many we had! My initial course was, of course the soup. My brother has the salad. My second course was the mafaldine with lamb ragú. This type of pasta is so filling and uniquely shaped. My brother had the rigatoni Cacio e Pepi. Perfectly made, both dishes just crushed it with flavor. Each pasta was a half serving of each and was plenty for 2 to share when paired with other options, or for 2 people with smaller appetites by itself. This really fell off for me and my wife. Service was extremely slow, taking about 80 minutes to get first pastas. Pastas themselves were just ok. Cacio e Pepe was my favorite. Tagliatelle was just ok. The mushroom gnocchi we got was just weird for us, overly sweet, weird pancake texture to the pasta. The focaccia bread was super good though, as an appetizer. All in all, these pastas were inferior to parisi and 5x the price. Our not that impressive meal came out to 300 bucks. We won't be returning. read more

I have been dying to try Tavernetta for months now after hearing all the hype around it. I was kindly gifted a giftcard for Christmas so I was finally able to try it. I was overall quite disappointed. The service was very mediocre. What we ordered: -burrata - pretty good flavors but not the easiest to eat -focaccia - don't love the sauce served with it, it's very acidic, but the bread is light and flavorful -tagliatelle - lobster was very chewy and overcooked, the pasta was too al dente for my taste. however, the sauce had a nice flavor and was slightly spicy -broccoli - was awful, I regret trying it, it made my entire mouth taste bad (I sadly had to send it back) -tiramisu - the best thing on the menu -affogato - pretty good overall They offer valet validation and you are a few steps from the entrance of the restaurant if you choose this option. Just remember to get your ticket stamped before departing. It wasn't busy and the restaurant was not full but maybe we just went on an off night? I wouldn't recommend this to friends. read more

We tried Tavernetta for happy hour and it was fine, I was just underwhelmed for the prices and its reputation. I regularly see Tavernetta listed among the best restaurants in Denver and that feels overhyped from my experience. There was no host at the stand when we walked in and two people walked by without acknowledging us, which was an awkward start. The hostess was friendly, but the guy who started to find our reservation walked away without a word. Again, weird. We were seated at a tiny table against a scuffed up wall. The food I liked most: the focaccia and the cacio e pepe. The bread had great texture and I liked the dipping sauce; the pasta was the perfect al dente and yummy. Less successful food for me: the burrata (the pesto mix with the breadcrumbs was distractingly salty) and the meatballs (super dry). The drinks were fine but I guess I should just accept that I'm not a huge spritz fan (we got the brachetto spritz and the pineapple daiquiri). All in all, it was a fine experience and I'm glad I tried Tavernetta, but I wasn't blown away. I visited on a recommendation from a friend living in Denver. He mentioned it was expensive and fancy. Coming from NY I figured It wasnt too over the top compared to NYC dining. There were 't any reservations but thankfully they have a very accommodating walk-in policy if you are willing to wait. It took about 45 mins on a Saturday evening. We were a party of 6 and lucky enough to get the chef's high top table. We had a great view of the kitchen. They have a large team so there is lots going on. I wont go into every dish but I will say their dishes pack a lot of wonderful surprises on texture and taste. They mix temperatures, textures, and flavors to perfection. Every bite has pops of flavor sometimes where you don't expect. The 2 standout dishes were the fried zucchini blossom special stuffed with crab and the peaches and cream. If they are available get them. The peaches and cream felt like an emotional experience it was so damn good. At the end of the night the pocket damage wasn't severe at all. We had a reservation for five at 7:45pm on a Thursday night. We were escorted to the private dining room. Apparently a business meeting left early, so we were offered the room. What a nice surprise! We were welcomed by the manager Seth, who was excellent at explaining the menu and wine list. He was so personable and fun that we could see right away that he loved his job and deserved to be the manager. Our server, Nicholas, was also lovely, as was Ryland the sommelier, who helped us pick out two bottles of white from the Campania region in Italy. They all made us feel so welcomed and comfortable like we were eating at a Nona's kitchen table in Italy. Our two adult children said that it was the best service they have ever experienced in restaurant. We decided to share many dishes from the menu. Here is our takeaway: Focaccia - typical for an Italian restaurant - it was very good Squash Blossoms - outstanding. It was a special for the night and was a hit for the table. We had to order 2 extra for $7 a piece so we each got one. Pricey, but worth it! The cheese oozed out and was so delicious. Carpaccio - WAY to salty. You could not discern any beef flavor because of the saltiness. Skip this. Barbabietole - smokey beets with a hint of goat cheese. Flavors are spot on. Bluefin Crudo - it was fresh, but not our favorite presentation for a crudo. Pappardelle - very fresh with the summer corn but could have used more corn, chanterelle and peach. It was mostly pasta that was cooked perfectly. Cavatelli - the sausage is VERY fennel forward. It says that on the menu, but the fennel takes over the dish. I like that, but if one is sensitive to fennel, this might not be the dish for you. Raviolo Special - was the hit of the night! It was a large raviolo with ricotta, corn and tons of truffle on top (we chose that instead of caviar). However, it was pricey at $48 for one plate (see pic). We thought the pasta could have been cooked a tiny bit more as the edges were very chewy. Manzo - this NY strip surprised us for how good it was. It looked too rare upon presentation, but was fantastic in it's preparation. Pesce Spada - it was good, but nothing stood out as exceptional. Shishito and Jimmy Nardello peppers - a complimentary dish they served us. We devoured them in about 5 seconds because they were so good. We ordered a scoop of gelato to share and they were so gracious to include a tiramisu as well. Both were excellent! The service and food at Tavernetta are worth experiencing.
