Ended up here unexpectedly on a trip to Denver with some friends a few weeks ago (yes reservations are highly recommended). Tucked away a few blocks from downtown and right next to the train station. Huge door awaits you to a wonderful world full of class, service, and quality. Huge bar in the middle of the restaurant, seating all around with kitchen located in back corner. Simple, effortless decor that pulled everything together. Servers were knowledgeable with the menu and GF substitutions, timing out plates, and effortless high class service. Forgot to take photos but everything was exponential. You can just taste the quality, freshness and flavor but to feel full would highly suggest get a couple appetizers and or dessert with an entree (as the entree pasta was on the smaller side). One down side to how large the restaurant is, is there was always a line for the bathroom, there are 4 individual stalls that did move relatively quick but just looks tacky having people wait in the middle-ish of the restaurant/entrance/walk way. read more

Dined here Saturday night (7/11). Having dined here before, I can still confirm the service is excellent, probably better than anywhere else I've been to in Denver. Also, the Burrata is absolutely perfection. Having said that, the Balanzoni, which i understand is a relatively new item on the menu, was fairly dry and didn't live up to the rest of the menu. We were really excited to try Tavernetta and arrived very hungry, ready for a great experience. We ordered the carpaccio di manzo, focaccia, two risottos, and two short rib pastas. I don't usually like to leave negative reviews, but when you dine at a restaurant of this level--especially in a Four Seasons--you naturally have high expectations. Out of everything we ordered, the carpaccio was the highlight. It was good--pleasant and well-prepared--but not particularly memorable. The risotto, unfortunately, were the most disappointing. The texture was very loose, almost like a cheese soup, and both people who ate them ended up with stomach discomfort afterward. The short rib pasta was decent, enjoyable but not outstanding. As for the focaccia, it wasn't our favorite, but we chose not to return it because the staff was genuinely kind and attentive, and we didn't want to make a scene. I do want to emphasize that the service was excellent. Everyone was warm, professional, and very welcoming throughout the meal. Our disappointment was really with the food itself rather than the hospitality. Wow! What a great place to celebrate my birthday! Server was super knowledgeable on their dishes. I would go back just for their Baratta. Super creamy, excellent flavor, first time I had it and I loved it!! The focaccia bread was a bit too dense for me, but still great with the barratta. We had the pasta dishes: rigatoni, baked pasta, the spring gnocchi, and the gluten free spiral pasta (see the pics for the menu names). Side: cauliflower. All were super delicious but I liked the rigatoni the best. We got a birthday strawberry and rhubarb sherbet which I enjoyed as a nice light finish. Loved walking by the kitchen to our table. First time dining at Tavernetta, and it won't be the last. This is the Denver outpost from the folks behind the James Beard-recognized Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder--and it shows. Tavernetta leans into Italian classics, with dishes inspired by regions across Italy, led by Frasca veterans wine director Carlin Karr and chef de cuisine Cody Cheetham. Maybe the coolest part of the night? We were escorted through the kitchen to our table. You don't get that kind of behind-the-scenes energy at most restaurants. It felt like a VIP moment--and a great way to kick off the evening. We started with their warm, house-baked Focaccia--simple, salty, herby perfection. Then came the Carpaccio alla Cipriani, and I still don't understand how they slice it that thin. Melt-in-your-mouth beef, drizzled just right, and plated with intention. For mains, I went with the signature Branzino: flaky, buttery, perfectly crisped skin. It sat on a bright, lemony sauce that brought it all together. My guest had the Rigatoni--comforting, rich, with a tomato sauce that clung to every ridge of pasta like it was born to be there. We also shared the Carote--a side of roasted carrots that were anything but basic. Sweet, tender, kissed with char, and topped with a nutty crumble and some kick. What a wonderful restaurant. This place is 100% about the experience, the ambiance, the presentation. The food obviously is delicious, but it unfortunately is the type of place you are hungry 1 hour later. But I feel that's most fancy restaurants. I got the scallops appetizer and salad. Both were tasty, the scallops only come with two, so everything on the menu as a word of caution is very expensive for portions but the level of detail is on point. Also got the squash pasta and fish and it was delicious. I'd say flavor was just incredible. The service you could tell was very polished, she knew everything about the menu, and talked so passionately you knew no matter what you got was going to be good! We went for our anniversary and the food was just ok. I was excited as I had come for lunch for my birthday and the lunch special is three course and delicious. We had the carbonara pasta. This place is overhyped and overpriced in my opinion. I ordered the lobster tagliatelle, which was nothing special and lacked flavor. I was also disappointed by the service - despite having a reservation for one, I waited about 20 minutes to be seated. There's no waiting area, so a large group of people were crowded around the entrance. After my food was served, I didn't see my server for another 20 minutes, which made paying take a while. On top of an already overpriced menu, there's an additional health and wellness 2.5% added to all bills. I support providing benefits for employees but would rather see this reflected in menu prices than extra fees at the end of the meal. Came here for my birthday dinner with a big group of friends. We made the reservation a little over a week in advance, for 10 people on a Sunday night. They had us slated to sit at the chef's table, a high top that seats 10. Throughout the week, I was unsure if our group would actually be 11 people, and the restaurant said they would not be able to fit another person at this table as there are no more chairs like that in the house. They mentioned a private dining room, which has a preset spend minimum and other fees, but we really wanted to avoid that. Finally, the day before, I called and told them that we would unfortunately have to cancel if we were not able to have the bigger table, and the staff was so nice, the manager approved us using this event room without the party fees, since it was not booked. In the end, not everybody was able to make it so we ended up as a group of 10 and sat at our original table, but I really appreciate the restaurant's flexibility. On the night of, I arrived a little late, and the group was already having drinks, the server was very attentive, constantly bringing refills for water and giving us the full rundown of the menu answering all our questions. Collectively, we've tried at least half the items on the menu. I started with a nitro espresso martini, literal perfection. Made with all the right ingredients and just the right flavor. I shared the beef carpaccio, the burrata and the focaccia appetizers with my friend Genuinely this was the best beef carpaccio I've ever had, and the Barata was also amazing, everything about it, and the fresh soft focaccia went perfectly with each other, I love the chunky tomato sauce and basil that the burrata was garnished with, just layered perfectly with the focaccia for a balanced bite We shared both the Lamb rigatoni and seasonal baked pasta. The Lamb rigatoni was good, but nothing to ride home about as compared to other versions of the dish I've had over the years. The seasonal baked pasta was a corn based pasta, garnished with cherry tomatoes and herbs. It was also yummy, but nothing crazy and for the price, could have offered a protein. I didn't love that The restaurant doesn't do protein options à la carte to add onto a pasta. The restaurant was really nice to offer us some free cups of gelato, one of which was melon flavored and the other was honey flavored. Super unique and delicious. We also tried the tiramisu which was just the right amount of sweetness and balanced to finish the meal. I have been hearing about this place and wanted to eat here for a while, I'm glad I got this experience in, I would definitely come back when they change the menu again to try something new -- currently they don't have a single pasta on the menu that is serve served with a creamy sauce, which is generally my favorite indulgence when I eat Italian. We've been wanting to dine here for ages, and we finally made it for dinner. The ambiance is dimly lit, cozy, and minimalist. We started with burrata and focaccia bread - the focaccia was incredibly soft and warm. I ordered the triangola, a four-cheese stuffed pasta with lemon. I came in and they notified me very nicely that there would be a wait for the bar. In the time I was waiting, a lovely person came to take my drink order. My drink came and it was so delicious! As I was sipping, I was shortly after directed that a spot had opened. THE ENTIRE TIME the bartenders taking care of me were SO SWEET. The MAINE LOBSTER TAGLIATELLE lacked flavor and could not taste the lobster at all. Little bits of lobster sprinkled through. Anyway I could go on with the taste or lack thereof. Pasta was cooked perfect. The MANZO-New York Strip, Esoterra Root Vegetables, Pickled Cipollini, Spiced Succo...steak cooked amazing with wonderful flavor. Tavernetta had been on my short list for a long time. You can taste the care in which they take to create the flavorful pasta dishes. We had the rigatoni with lamb ragu and the winter squash ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce as our main course. The portion of ravioli was a bit small but filling since we had the Burrata and focaccia appetizers. To our surprise, the Burrata app does not come with bread or crackers so we opted to have the focaccia with it - a tip our waitress provided us with. Both appetizers were delicious. The Burrata was very fresh tasking and the herbs and sauces it was laying in was delightful. The focaccia was fluffy and came with an olive oil balsamic mix that complimented it well. I have so little words for the absolutely perfect experience we had here a few days ago. Our waitress was so attentive and helped me through ingredients to ensure I could eat or drink whatever made sense while pregnant. She knew everything and had alternatives to offer. We did the burrata and focaccia and we could have sat there all night eating just that. This was the freshest most flavorful burrata I've ever had and the focaccia was fluffy and perfection with the burrata on top (and with just olive oil). I knew we were in for a treat when the appetizers were that delicious. we got the lamb rigatoni and the special pasta for the night as our main courses. The special pasta was so good and had we not gotten the lamb rigatoni, it would've absolutely blew our mind. Then we tried the lamb rigatoni and we're just dying. It was so creamy and flavorful and I don't even know how to describe how perfect it was. To have both of our main courses absolutely knocked out of the park, we knew we were in for a treat at dessert. Don't worry, the food is perfectly portioned through the courses as well so you actually have just enough room for dessert. The tiramisu was best we've ever had in our lives even after traveling Italy for a few weeks. It is a MUST BUY. The semifreddo was also extraordinary. If you love hazelnut, creamy and caramel crispy, GET THIS. We also got the honey gelato but in all honesty, we could've lived without it. So many people raved in reviews which is why we got it, but I couldn't believe anyone would put it on same pedestal as the rest of the menu including desserts. Absolutely five stars for Tavernetta! We came in for happy hour and were blown away. The burrata was easily one of the best I've ever had it was creamy, rich, and perfectly paired. We tried the pasta flight, which was a brilliant way to sample multiple house-made pastas, each one more delicious than the last. I also had a Negroni (not usually my drink of choice), but this one was so smooth and balanced it completely changed my mind. Visiting the mile high I decided to treat myself to a big girl dinner. I sat myself at the bar and was mesmerized by the grown and sexy ambiance and the movement of the bar. The bartenders were shaking up some pretty dope cocktails so I couldn't wait to indulge. I ordered: Mista salad-amazing! Fresh mix of lettuce, shallots, and a mountain of the fluffiest grated cheese on top! Dressed to perfection with the creamiest dressing. My goodness! I was missing something crunchy on top though. Foccacia-absolutely wonderful! My goodness! Soft, beyond flavorful, I can't go on because I'm drooling here Rigatoni-mediocre at best. While they make their own pasta in house, I found this to be incredibly small for the price point and beyond over salted. I was a bit disappointed in this dish because they are known for it. Also where's the cheese?! PASS Dirty martini-YES!!! Just do it. It's very different from what I have made with St. George gin! Overall I did find it to be incredibly pricey for what you get. I hate when I go to a fancier dinner, whether special occasion or not, and something lacks. I expect better food, fantastic service, and pretty much a great overall experience. Tavernetta, without a doubt, delivered and surpassed on all fronts. We went there for my birthday dinner, as my go-to is Italian food. My wife booked me a reservation, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience there, definitely didn't regret our restaurant selection, and know that a return trip probably will happen. As far as points of contacts, Nick was our server, and was perfectly there for every need without being intrusive, and answered all questions about the menu with confidence and an awesome personality. Connor was our wine expert, and talked us through all options after we explained what we were looking for. Seth was the manager who greeted us later in the meal with a very personable table touch. Wife and I did the Tiberio red, and it was great. We did the carpaccio (add focaccia bread on the side per Nick's recommendation), and added the burrata also as a starter. The carpaccio was literally phenomenal, the burrata was no slouch, and both left us plenty of room for dinner while delighting our tastebuds. Whenever I think it will be incredible, I sometimes pick the boring lasagna choice, my personal favorite dish, but have found over the years that it is hard to be incredible and unique. I got it (after Nick vouched for it) and I was NOT disappointed. One of my favorite lasagnas of all-time. Wife got the gnocchi and it was also delicious. The place had the perfect atmosphere, with uplifting energy, but still classy and you felt like you were in your own world. They had an open kitchen with a whole other dining room in the back. The ambiance was not what one might expect from the externally view of the building. It's bright and a bit noisy inside. The tables and chairs are not what one would expect either - chairs felt a little low, maybe, and the materials felt somewhat cheap. That said, we enjoyed our dinner here last week. While we enjoyed the foccacia and burrata, likely will not order this again. The dipping oil had a nice vinegary bite and i preferred the texture in the oil to the super-crunch of the gremolata that came with the burrata. We were both a bit surprised by the flavors of the ragu, which had notes of a current caramel and an overall deliciously complex flavor. Same with the olive oil cake, which starts off with a savory, complex flavor but endsjust sweet enough. We also enjoyed the superbly prepared Branzino, which had flavors that, while not necessarily surprising, were different from other branzino dishes we've had. The topper was excellent service. I hate to do this and you can tell from other reviews this is rare for me. For an establishment of this caliber, so many things went wrong for us. To start, my husband has a severe nut allergy and we were very clear with the bartender about this. Midway through happy hour, upon receiving his second cocktail, he started to have a reaction. She said there was absolutely no nuts in anything we had received. 5 minutes later she had the realization that she had made 3 cocktails with WALNUT LIQUOR in the same device with a rinse and would have the other side of the bar remake his drink. She never even apologized. Add cold meatballs, gummy focaccia and mediocre at best apps and pasta and we will not be returning.
