So I guess Gusto and Cholon recently merged together at Sloans Lake. While the concept is good, the execution is not. We made reservations for 6:15 on a Friday night and when we walked in it was about 30% full. The hostess walked us around the corner and tried to seat us literally right next to the bathrooms where you can see into the bathrooms while you eat. She was like "how's this table?" And my husband was like "uhhh do you have any booths available away from the bathrooms?" She responded with "well, we have a lot of reservations coming in, let me go check" I looked at her and said "well ARE your reservations!" She ended up coming back and seating us by the windows where "Cholon" used to be, which was fine by us. The booths near us and the window seats next to us continued to stay empty until we left around 7:30. I was in a bad mood from them trying to seat us IN THE BATHROOM, but decided to move on and order some of my Cholon favorites. I look at the menu and I'm shocked with the prices because I know the size of the portions. AND they didn't have Kaya Toast! That is the thing I always order at Cholon! So we order the waygu beef satay ($18) to start and it wasn't good at all. The beef was tough and chewy. The sauce was weird. We didn't finish it. For our entrees I ordered the Olathe corn agnolotti dish that was good, but wasn't worth $28. My husband ordered the super Tuscan pizza which he liked but I found super oily. We were waffling on whether to get dessert because everything had been pretty meh. We decided to get the palisade peach cannoli tart to-go (I didn't want to sit in that place any longer). We got home and when I tell you this dessert was bad... IT WAS BAD. There was literally not a hint of sweetness. The peaches weren't ripe. The cheese they used wasn't sweetened AND I think it had like a basil balsamic glaze on it or something because this was the most savory "dessert" I had ever had. We each took and bite and threw that $15 monstrosity into the garbage. Whoever okayed that to be on the menu should be fired. I was honestly upset we spent $150 for dinner and another $80 for a babysitter for such a disappointing dinner. Side story: I was talking to my friend who lives in Sloans Lake about how bad our dinner at Gusto was. And she said "that place sucks! They sat us RIGHT NEXT TO THE BATHROOMS, and the whole place was empty!" When I told her the same thing happened to us she continued on to say they had made reservations and the hostess said, "all the other tables are reserved." And my friend said "we have reservations!" Came here for weekend lunch with my wife and had a fairly good time. Pretty straight forward menu. I ordered the Carbonara which is fairly good, though not a super traditional carbonara. They did use guanciale but the sauce is a bit off, but the dish ate pretty good overall. The prosciutto sandwich, on the other hand, is a stand up. Massive fluffy pizza bread with plenty of prosciutto and arugula. We easily could've split this given how big the sandwich is. My wife was a big fan. read more

They only serve their happy hour menu during those hours so it is a more limited menu but it had everything we wanted at great prices. I want to start by saying the wait staff and kitchen staff are incredible. Every interaction I've had with frontline employees has been positive. They work hard, care about customers, and do their best in what are clearly difficult conditions. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for management. From what I've seen and experienced, management consistently makes poor decisions, shows little regard for employee well-being, and creates working conditions that drive good people away. These choices have resulted in harm to the business in its entirety. Their wine list is constantly changing not because of choice, but because their ordered stock is always late or poorly done, and it's noticeable to those who were regular patrons of the restaurant. Let me be clear: I returned to this restaurant as a regular purely because of the frontline staff's amazing team. I've slowly watched the team dwindle entirely due to poor management. It's genuinely disappointing to watch such a strong team of employees be undermined by leadership that refuses to listen, adapt, or take responsibility. Our server was very friendly and helpful in helping us choose wine and food. We started with the burrata with an order of focaccia and waygu beef meatballs. I would 100% recommend the focaccia and burrata, and can go without the meatballs. The burrata was so good and had grapes which made this dish unique! The meatballs were okay, with it being waygu I thought it would be better. We also shared the lasagna, gnocchi, rigatoni, and the amalfi pie. My favorite was the lasagna and the pie. I was not expecting to like the lasagna as much as I did! It's very different from what I'm use to but in a good way! The amalfi pie was so interesting but so flavorful and unique that it was good, I've never had lemons on my pizza but it's a must try! The other pastas were good but the gnocchi was very rich, I was only able to take a couple bites. The food here is great! (Typical Denver pricing) This spot was always a special date night for me but after tonight likely won't be back. We had basically 2 servers all night who were not aware of each other at all. The woman was lovely and very nice. The man seemed maybe new or overwhelmed. For what I would say is a finer dining restaurant, he brought 4 glasses of water for 2 people, seemed annoyed when I had questions on the menu, and multiple times brought dishes to our table and asked if we ordered this (we didn't). We ordered a bottle of wine ($50+) which didn't arrive until we asked again after 2 courses. Overall it seemed everyone was pretty stressed, with only 10 tables of people. On top of all this they're serving both gusto and cholon out of the same restaurant. There is not really a cholon menu outside of 6-7 items so just go to the other locations if that's what you're looking for. It's tough these days to find great service, but for the love of god at least give me one server only instead of constantly interrupting to ask if we ordered/if we got what we ordered. read more

My wife, daughter and I ate here during our Sept 2026 trip to Denver. We ate outside which was quiet and relaxed. My daughter was late and the staff was very accomodating in terms of letting us wait. We shared two salads, a Caesar and an Italian House. Both were very flavorful although the lettuce seemed a little wilted. We then split three other dishes. The Rigatoni buttera had a nice sauce but the rigatoni was undercooked. The Sicilian pizza was very good. The crust was good, the sauce was very flavorful and it had plenty of cheese on it. It was good. Previous time I came it was phenomenal. This time the service wasn't as great, unfortunately they were out of one of the dishes we wanted and were very strict with protein add ons. With such limited menu options it would be nice to be able to add chicken, steak or shrimp to a Caesar salad or pasta. Sitting at the bar an hour before closing wasn't as pleasant with the people behind the bar talking about closing and "getting out of here" but maybe that just comes with bar seating. When we ordered we were told not to worry and that our appetizer and main courses would be spaced out but we got served our main about 5 minutes after we received the appetizer while we still weren't finished. Overall the food was good. Lasagna was a bit too lemony and tart for my liking but could be someone else's cup of tea. The rigatoni was good but the pasta was pretty al dente. The meatballs were very good. It felt a bit more like a stop in after work to just get a quick bite and get out rather than the sit in exclusive dining experience I had the last time. For $100 for 2 people I would say it's only worth it if you have a table reserved. Wow!!! Super super super happy we found this spot! It's pretty small, has an intimate feel and is a great spot for a date night! It was "fine dining" I would say, but I really appreciated the space our server gave us. He was extremely nice but didn't overstep, offered suggestions and was very quick! We had reservations at 5:15, got there at 5:10 and had time before happy hour ended at 5:30 to order a glass of wine. Our server came back at 5:36 and said "last call for happy hour if you want to put another glass in" this was genuinely the first time I've ever had at a place do that and it was so nice. Batter fell away from the veggie and calamari before eating, and it was greasy. Ceasar salad was great. Loved the whole anchovies and the Amalfi lemon slices. Cioppino was very different than any others I've had. Didn't have a shellfish base broth as I was expecting. The consistency was more of a sauce and not a broth. The side of leek aioli didn't care for. Tasted like nothing. Doesn't go with the dish. The side of bread that came with the cioppino was good and soft with the bubbles like pizza bread. Roma pizza took a while to get to the table. We thought they forgot to put in the order. We received it about 15 mins after the cioppino. Pizza was good. Perfect amount of ingredients and sauce and the crust was perfect with the little burnt dark bits and the bubbles. Service would be one reason we will not go back. Felt like we didn't belong and wasn't welcomed. The manager did stop by and wished us a happy birthday. The server just seemed like she was very scripted with every time leaving our table saying "cheers". The person that sat us and brought the food each time seemed like she was avoiding eye contact and didn't want to be there. The olive oil cake is Gusto's magnum opus. Paired with the savory leaning and rich with complex flavors Tomato Tomato cocktail... oof. Chef's kiss, especially with those candied olives... I'm still thinking about it all days later. Pasta serving sizes were smaller, but all is well if you split 3 pastas between 2 people. Loved the pesto pasta as well as the corn stuffed dumplings, especially when the sauces were mixed together. From our host to our waiters, service at Gusto was impeccable. Extremely friendly and they were very apologetic about "waits" for our cocktails despite everything coming out very quickly. 4.5/5. What a great addition to the neighborhood! We stopped by early on a Friday evening to celebrate a birthday. The space is rather small (glad we had a reservation!) and it is nicely designed and feels very modern. Our server greeted us right away (and wished a happy birthday!) and set the tone for solid service throughout the meal. The menu is fairly limited, which I really like -- always great when restaurants focus on dishes/types of food they can knock out of the park. We were torn between a whole lot of things and ended up going with the Amalfi pie and rigatoni buttera. Pretty soon after placing our order, somebody dropped off handmade breadsticks and they were delish!! The rigatoni was ready pretty quickly and was AMAZING! The most perfectly cooked handmade pasta with incredibly flavorful sausage and a flavorful, yet delicate sauce. Were we trying to lick the sauce of the bowl while nobody was watching? Very possibly, yes. The pizza came out about 15 minutes later. I thought the dough would be thinner (I'm a thin crust gal) and didn't think I would like this pizza once I saw it in front of me...but nope! Some of the most flavorful, fluffy crust I have ever had. Such a fun flavor combination with the lemons and Calabrian chili. We expected to still be hungry after only ordering one pizza and one pasta, but actually ended up not even finishing the pizza (and for all of you out there wondering, it heated up magically the next day)! We will most definitely be back. Although this was a delicious meal, a few things could be tweaked to make it even better and earn that .5 star: 1. The ricotta on our pizza was all melted and soupy, kind of like creme fraiche, which was a bit of a bummer. It still tasted good and we didn't want to say anything since we had already waited a while, but maybe putting the ricotta on a slightly cooler pie could prevent the ricotta from liquifying? 2. It was pretty chilly/drafty inside and the music volume made it difficult to hold a conversation. My husband and I came in for a post work-week wind down. I love being able to sit on the patio and people watch while we chat lazily over a glass of wine or a cocktail and then work our way through the large, anchovy filled Caesar salad. We each get our own pie, and I promise I'll branch out someday, but the Amalfi is just too good to not order. We are always on the lookout for dining around these parts that are worth leaving home for & last week's dinner at Gusto's was a pleasant surprise. The food had nuanced flavors that were exceptional. My husband & I spilt a salad that was fresh & lively, I had the gnocchi that was a different take from others I've had & very good, my husband had the carbonara (I was able to pry a taste of it from him) & we both liked it. We paired it with a Super Tuscan that was a perfect accompaniment. The location across from The park & Sloan's Lake will make it lovely for patio dining & yes we plan on going back. However, the newly added linguini and clams was disappointing. It arrived cool/cold, the linguini was undercooked (hard center, not al dente), and the flavor and presentation were mediocre. The peach Parma pizza was decent but too heavy on the salt and cheese. The cold pasta arrived first and when we asked if the pizza was coming so we could eat together, the server gave attitude and excuses. He said it is fresh pasta so it wouldn't take long. Well it did. Didn't receive our food until 535 so naturally we felt rushed. Eddie, Rainey (sp?), and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make an unexpected Tuesday stop accommodating and comfortable--a blessing and necessity when getting my elderly grandpa with mobility issues and a short attention span for new things to try a new restaurant. The food was flavorful and well executed, the pricing for the quality is on par, and the ambiance was inviting. Tuesday is all day happy hour so we picked across the menu: the wagyu meatballs are a FIRM favorite but we also tried the polenta fries, fritto misto, Caesar salad (the candied lemon is a lovely surprise, house salad (excellent marinated veg), as well as the rigatoni bolognese and carbonara. I mean seriously I was blown away - they have a specific pastry chef who's been here for a long time in charge of the GF goods. we got the rigatoni pasta and focaccia appetizer. Both were great and I did not get sick! FWI - the fries are marked GF but are in a shared fryer, so not celiac safe. This is a sad update. One of the top Italian spots in the city, and they screwed the whole thing up. Combined with a less than desirable Asian restaurant, they managed to make two less than desirable spots. I do NOT recommend. Sad part.. I think they put the manager of the crap restaurant in charge of both.. wrong answer. They took a solid 4.5 star spot and destroyed it. You know it's bad when they start throwing in free food. 3 of us came for happy hour and were seated at the bar. It's a small place, so it filled up pretty quickly on a Friday. We all enjoyed what we ordered. There was a mixup on the bill, but they fixed it. They did separate checks for us which I appreciated. read more

Was so excited to try this spot in Sloan's Lake! It is a smaller restaurant so I'd recommend reservations to ensure a table. The decor was very pretty. The night we went service was a little slow with greeting us and getting drinks. We enjoyed all the food we ordered. Both pasta and pizza was great! The Amalfi pizza was very lemony. If you like lemon that is the pick for you! It was a little much for my taste. Overall we enjoyed it but don't know if I'll visit again. read more
