What a great find! We chose to come here during restaurant week, so there was a limited menu, but it was fantastic! The ambiance is very cozy and our waiter was very pleasant and professional. The Italian accent was nice too! Made the experience feel very authentic. The peeps and I like to share, so I was able to taste a few things during this visit. The Crostini Toscani Misti was the perfect size. Three slices of grilled ciabatta each with a different topping. White beans & kale, bruchetta, and the third one I couldn't tell what it was, but was super good. Lots of garlic and herbs. Yum! The charcuterie board seemed to have lots of options and the risotto was ok, but the Crespelle Alla Fiorentina was delish! It was almost like vegetable lasagne rolls. The sauce was sweet and the filling was rich and creamy. I had the Pappardelle Con Sugo Ai Piselli which was papparedelle pasta with ragu sauce. The pasta was hand made which I love. The ragu sauce was meaty and very flavorful. It wasn't a super saucy dish, but still very good. The seasoning was perfect. The peas were a little hard, but not a deal breaker at all. The peeps said the ribs were a little dry, I didn't taste those. The braised beef in Chianti tomato sauce however was AWESOME!!!! Very tender and had a great flavor. I'll order that next time! We finished dinner with tastes of cannolis, chocolate cake, and tiramisu. They were all really tasty, but I love tiramisu, so that was my fave. This place far exceeded my expectations in a few areas. We used to frequent Parisi when we lived in the neighborhood and for no good reason made it to Firenze during that time. My boyfriend had a client in town from Ireland and wanted to go somewhere nice but not too fancy where we could enjoy conversation and good food, this IS the perfect place!! Fabulous service, each person that helped us was kind and answered any questions we had and was so gracious in serving each course, it was delightful! The ambience is so warm, welcoming and reticent of the Italian grottos we visited a few years ago in Italy. We shared the antipasta for the whole table. I ordered the burrata for the group but really kept it all to myself (it was so fresh and the pesto drizzle was so tasty!) I enjoyed 2 glasses of barolo with my risotto but couldn't find the space for dessert. Next time for sure! I went for the first time to this establishment- We usually eat upstairs at parisi when I'm craving pizza- If your not there before 6pm on a Friday you have to wait because it gets packed really quick, and let's face it the parking anywhere in north Denver on a Friday night is time in itself- We arrived to a line so we thought we would try downstairs to what I thought was a wine bar- Apparently it's a different entity with its own kitchen and wine bar downstairs - It does take reservations (just like upstairs it's packed) we we're fortunate to get a table - Spontaneous decisions lead to life's hidden gems - The ambiance was downplayed lighting with romantic table settings and stone and brick interior design, with fine service I haven't had in a while, (very prompt ) and pleasant- We both had the Ravioli d' Aragosta and it was amazing - The ravioli was filled with lobster and covered in a creamy tomato sauce- (yum) I'm glad I finally got to see what was downstairs and now can recommend a casual dining at its best in my north Denver, now called highland neighborhood - read more

Tucked away in the dimly lit dungeon of Parisi, lies a true Italian wonder. After scrambling around for a restaurant on Christmas Eve, we discovered this gem through a friend's recommendation. And boy, was she spot on! Everything from the classical music softly playing in the background, to the art that hung along the cobblestone walls, created an intimate Tuscan ambiance. It was as if we were dining along the Grand Canal! Once we were seated, we were handed the wine bar list (more like a book) which offered the very best in Italian wines, including the house Tuscan Pinot Noir, a personal favorite. We started off our meal with the house made Burrata alla Mediterranea and Cartoccio di Coccoli, which were like mini build-your-own pizzas with prosciutto.The mozzarella literally melted in my mouth! But just when I thought it couldn't get any better, our entrees arrived. The aroma of the pappardelle pasta, wood-fired salmon, bolognese pasta, and the seafood platter had my mouth salivating before I could even take a bite. And I did take a bite..of everything! Great underground (literally) N Italian joint in the Highlands. Situated below Parisi this low-ceilinged-spot will transport you to Firenze with its raucous din and über friendly staff. While I'm fairly certain that most of the items on the menu are spectacular I specifically sampled the duck ragu and sea bream. Both are definitely worth a try. The only dish that I found a little underwhelming was the butterscotch budino - but the strawberry gelato more than made up for it. They also have a healthy selection of robust Tuscan reds if that's the way you like it. N.B. There is no lift to take you downstairs from Parisi so if you are mobility restricted the stairs may pose a bit of a challenge. Once you're downstairs though the staff is more than accommodating. There's also a cute little bar that looks like it may be a good rendezvous getaway from the world upstairs as well. read more

Went here for New Year's Eve 2015 and, sadly, were very disappointed with the quality of food served, as well as the overall pacing of our meal. For a $75 per person fixed-price menu, we expected a gracious, welcoming experience. Instead, we felt rushed through a meal that we could have had at a chain restaurant for half the price. Each course arrived just as our last was completed, and in a few cases we still had several bites left on our plates. The servers were attentive but rushed and seemed to be somewhat rattled by the evening crowd, although only 75-80% of the tables were filled. Our courses arrived lukewarm in temperature and had a haphazard, thrown-together look about them. No salad course was offered, and we did not receive bread on our table, although others around us did. No extra napkins or wipes were offered to help clean up after the lobster course, which was somewhat rubbery and congealed. My wine flight ($30) was unceremoniously plunked down in front of me without explanation of the wines involved. Our desserts were likewise plopped down and quickly followed by the check wallet; we had to request coffee before receiving it. Based on this experience, we won't be back. A disappointment- could have been a much better experience if the staff had better coordinated the food service. read more

Firenze a Tavola had one of the most interesting Restaurant Week menus (hello, homemade beet ravioli and beef wellington), so we made the executive decision to sample it. It was a wise decision. I've been to Parisi several times, but never the mysterious restaurant in the basement. It's actually quite lovely. The lighting is dim, the atmosphere is cozy, and it has tons of charm. There were a lot of families dining with their children, but I still think it would be a great place to take a date. I did end up ordering the beet ravioli and although I think it could have been a bit hotter, the flavor was on point and I very much enjoyed the dish. The beef wellington was excellent. It was my first time trying it, and I've been thinking about it ever since. The apple tart for dessert was tasty, but nothing special. I could make something better at home. My boyfriend ordered a chocolate dessert that he liked very much. The service was good, and considering the close proximity to my house, I can definitely see myself returning to try their regular menu. read more

This is a fantastic little restaurant that you'd never know was here. So, I have had coffe & lunch at Parisi before. I had no idea there was a fine dining restaurant, downstairs. Firenze a Tavola is a charming restaurant with red brick walls, wine bottles everywhere and low lighting. The service was excellent! The wine list by the bottle is extensive, but there are only a few wines available by the glass. And, they only have bottled beer, nothing on draft. The food here is great. But, I honestly have to say that I was more impressed by my meal upstairs, in the more casual restaurant. The grilled artichoke was great, the trout looked a lot more like salmon (it was pink) but was pretty tasty. And, the ice cream with the shot of espresso was unique. But, I have to say I preferred the seafood risotto, upstairs. They were super cool about doing separate checks, which was really nice. This is definitely a neighborhood gem and I will certainly be back. read more

Firenze was very accommodating for my party of 8 on a Friday night. I originally made reservations for 10 online and had no trouble booking it. I then got an e-mail notification that my reservation was cancelled without my doing so. I called the restaurant and asked about why they canceled my reservation and they told me that someone in my party called and said that their son was sick and therefore canceled. It was a mistake however and that person was not in my party. I am surprised that Firenze wasn't better about confirming the name, number, or time of the party to ensure that they were canceling the correct party. Nevertheless, I was able to reschedule the reservation, but this time for a party of 8. My party was running late and Firenze was very kind about allowing us to push the party back 45 minutes. I thought perhaps that the restaurant must have been really empty or dead of they were able to so easily accommodate to our large party but upon arriving to the restaurant I saw that they were actually pretty busy. Toward the end of the night at least 75% of the tables seemed occupied. They have their own small private lot (for both the restaurant upstairs Parisi and for them). You have to walk into Parisi and then go down the stairs to get to Firenze. I read many other reviews on Yelp that complained about the loud noise but I had no trouble talking to my party during the dinner. I thought the noise level was appropriate and the sound from upstairs didn't overly amplify like others had mentioned. I, however, have always liked a lively and more busy atmosphere however so if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner then perhaps this might be a concern. Like other reviews mentioned, the ambience is lovely in this basement restaurant. Walls are made of brick and the tables are made of sturdy wood. There's wine bottles against several of the walls and curtains that section of a different area of the room. I thought all of the textures made the atmosphere feel intimate, warm and European. I tried a dish from the Primi part of the menu. I ordered the Linguine ai Frutti di Mare e Crostacei for $23 (linguine tossed in white wine garlic sauce with oak fire roasted tomatoes, clams and lobster tail). I also tried my friend's Ravioli d' Aragosta for $1(house made ravioli filled with lobster, shrimp, red bell pepper and herbs tossed in a rich lobster brandy cream with basil oil). I thought that the portions were a great size and the plating/presentation were also very attractive. My dish came topped with a nice large lobster tail, 5-6 mussels, ~4 shrimps and ~2 clams. The amount of seafood was satisfactory and the amount of noodles were also plenty to get me full. I've had many frutti di mares in the past, in both the US & in Italy and thought that the subtle flavors of this one was in line with how pasta dishes are traditionally made in Italy (less heavy on sauce, light flavor, almost even bland if you're accustomed to savory American dishes). The pasta noodle itself could have tasted fresher (or at least a little bit softer). The lobster ravioli dish had great sized ravioli with plenty of lobster inside. The stuffing was a tad on the dry side for me but I did appreciate the amount of ravioli that were given and the quantity of seafood in each bite. Though it took a while for us to get our food ordered, I thought service was very friendly and nice. Our waiter was very helpful with guiding us through the wine selection. We wanted something sweet but not too dessert-like so we tried a white wine called damilano. It was very pleasant & not overly sweet. Time was limited and my belly was full (from both the pasta and all of the yummy complimentary focaccia bread and olive oil) so I unfortunately did not get to try any of their desserts. I've just come home from an extremely memorable dinner at "Firenze a Tavola"!!! I have not been to this restaurant for a number of years (so many choices in Denver these days), but it is definitely better than ever. It was my wedding anniversary so it had to be special. This place is run by first generations Italians (they all speak Italian among them), and you'll run into stars like Danilo Gallinari here, the #8 guard of the Denver Nuggets. Why? Because here is where real Italians eat Italian food, that's why!! The two of us shared an amazing antipasto Toscano, with quite a number of items so we were able to savor many wonderful flavors and textures. The Pollo di Sant'Ambrogio was absolutely great. Just like everything else, the meat and the sauce had clearly been prepared with love and care, indicated by the deep and intense flavors.. we practically licked the plates!! Somehow we still had room for dessert and the restaurant found out that it was our anniversary and surprised us with an amazing, complimentary crostata that was simply delicious!! The atmosphere was calm and welcoming and the waiter was personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. The other employees were equally friendly and helpful. Mario, the main chef, stopped by as always, and asked if everything was as we wished for our anniversary. Well, I could not have asked for a more perfect experience. Made reservations through Open Table for NYE. When we arrived we were given a cubby in the bar/waiting area. We were told this was the only booth (we had requested a booth if possible). My wife and I would have had to sit next to each other and be entertained by the crowd coming in waiting to be seated. If we weren't paying a prix fixe of $75 we might have considered it but I estimated our tab would be in excess of $200. I'm not a cheapskate but I was not about to pay that for a bleacher seat. The hostess was not the least bit helpful. In other instances where we had reservations we were always accommodated if we were not happy with the table. The hostess merely refused to seat us anywhere else in the restaurant. The hostess said it was New Year's Eve and there were no tables even though we had a reservation! Preface: we ate here on nye, not knowing it was a prix fixe menu until we got there. This was not specified on Open table when we made our reservations; granted I should have called to ask and make sure... The pros: great atmosphere, huge portions, and good menu selection given it was fixed. Apple strudel and vanilla gelato was delicious. The cons: they ran out of one of the appetizers that we really wanted; the food was overpriced for the quality - undercooked shrimp, tasteless and lumpy polenta, undercooked mushrooms in the risotto, and raw filet mignon (when we ordered medium)... We were disappointed given the great reviews and previous enjoyable experience upstairs at Parisi. We might come back to give this place another shot with their regular menu... But we think Firenze would have done better with smaller portions and more detail to execution for their nye menu. read more

I have been here several times and it only has gotten better (though always excellent as a baseline). The service is just phenomenal! You can't find better service in Denver than the service here. They are truly dedicated to their gastronomic creations representing authentic Italian food with focus being on the Florence area. I felt so at home when I was greeted with "buona sera" upon entering the restaurant. The creative use of space always makes me feel like I'm in a quaint restaurant in Italy. Wowweeee. This was easily the best food on our short trip. My boyfriend and I wanted to go on an actual date night so we looked for something fancy-ish but not over the top. A quick google search for "homemade pasta" turned this gem up - and we couldn't have found a better spot. This place is downstairs from a casual italian spot. It wasnt busy at all and we didnt need a reservation which was great. Our waiter was so authentic and kind, and it really added to our experience and the Italian atmosphere. He helped us with our terrible Italian accents and pronounciation, and really just seemed like the kindest person. They also bring you bread with oil and vinegar as an appetizer which is always a plus. Though they have LOTS of wine (Im talkin' a whole separate menu), they have really neat cocktails too- I would recommend looking at a drink menu. This place has a lot of seafood dishes, but since I dont eat seafood due to allergy, my options were much sorter. However, I ordered a pear and gorgonzola ravioli with balsamic and marscapone - holy shit. I never would have thought these flavor combinations would pair so well together, but they were so light, delicate, and delicious that Im not sure I can eat regular ravioli ever again and be as satisfied. My boyfriend had some sort of beef pasta that was also super good (but def not as good as mine, hehe). To finish it off, we had some amazing tiramisu, which is a cake infused with coffee and topped with yummy cream. By all means, find this place and GO. Eight of us had dinner here recently. One nice feature is the restaurant is fairly quiet and it was pretty easy for us to communicate with each other at our large table. In fact, I think we were probably the loudest table in the restaurant. We were impressed by the wine list, which has an impressive variety of Italian wines. We tried bottles of the verdicchio and the Bruno Giacosa Nebbiolo d'Alba, both of which we enjoyed. We were seated promptly and our overtaxed waiter did take drink orders within about 10 minutes of our arrival. That seemed perfectly acceptable, but it took another 60 minutes before we had a chance to place our food order. I don't think it was laziness on our waiter Kenny's part, but rather he just had too many tables to handle. Four of us got the pappardelle and another two got the gnocchi. Others tried the agnello and the bucatini. As one who got the pappardelle, I was quite disappointed that it came out lukewarm. I think it was put together about an hour before it was served and it sat in the kitchen under a heat lamp. The pasta was soggy, even though I do believe that it was made in-house. It just wasn't served promptly. That was a big disappointment. Another issue: I ordered the bresaola salad but it never arrived. Yet another: looking the the bill the next day while writing this review, I realized we were overcharged. The receipt says we got 4 orders of the gnocchi, even though it was actually only 2! That was a $38 error in the restaurants favor. Unacceptable! (We did contact the restaurant and they did promptly refund the $38 overcharge). I can only try and surmise what the heart of a restaurant is or what it could be outside of restaurant week. I can't believe we waited so long to try this place! On the spur of the moment, we made a reservation through opentable for this place on a Saturday night. We've been to Parisi a ton, and thought we would try this for something more romantic. We went down the stairs and right off the bat it's a very different atmosphere from the upstairs. It kind of feels like you're in some Italian lord's fancy-pants wine cellar. Lot's of brick, low lighting (low ceilings)... it was pretty nice. Our waiter was Mario and he was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu, comfortable to talk to, and made the evening seem very special. We ordered the Cartoccio di Coccoli to start with. It was crispy squares of herbed and salted pizza dough with a generous serving of prosciutto and a small serving of this soft, creamy cheese. It was awesome, but the cheese portion could have been bigger. Ordinarily we would have fought over it but we were trying to be romantic so there was a lot of, "you take the last bite", "no, you take the last bite" going on. Seriously, nothing says love like sharing delicious cheese that in all honesty you want to hoard for yourself. I ordered the lobster ravioli for my main course and it was awesome. The ravioli's filling was mostly lobster, and the sauce had HUGE chunks of lobster all througout it. They really did not skimp on the lobster in this dish. My boyfriend ordered the gnochi with rabbit and veggies. It was good. Mine was better. I have found that Parisi's gnochi are cooked a little too soft for my taste, I like them to have a bit more of a bite to them. I feel like a lot of times once you stick it in your mouth you might as well have just stuck some mashed potatoes in there. It was really flavorful and savory though. I did like it, but I don't know that I would order it. We ordered an appetizer, had two glasses of wine, and two main courses and walked out of there for about $85 including tip. It pains me to write this review because I love Parisi, and because I had such high expectations for the community table event that we signed up for. The idea is so great, but in the case of the Ferragosto Community table event, the execution was bad, really bad. Let's start with atmosphere. Fortunately for the restaurant, the event appeared to be sold-out. Unfortunately for the diners, a sold-out event in an underground dining room with low ceilings and brick walls (and apparently no acoustic insulation) resulted in a room that was so noisy that I literally could not hear a word the person sitting next to me was saying, even when I leaned in to within a few inches of his face. Not exactly the way you want to get to know a neighbor. The only way I could have a conversation with my husband, who was sitting across from me, was to read his lips. I know this sounds like whining, but honestly I've been to rock concerts in my college days that were not this loud. The food was surprisingly lacking, which was astonishing to me given how much I love the food at Parisi. The meal started with tomato and cucumber gazpacho which did not resemble any gazpacho I've every had. Served in a small ramekin, this version of gazpacho was a thin broth (almost like the juice from a tomato) with a couple pieces of tomato and cucumber. No flavor what so ever. The next course was a very creative and quite tasty frisse wrapped with prosciutto on top of peas and pesto. This made up for the gazpacho. On to the next course which was to be a pasta with mushrooms (funghi) which was served family style on a huge platter. The homemade pasta was overcooked and too salty (and I loooove salt), and I can only assume that they ran out of funghi because I didn't have a single mushroom on my plate. Worst of all, however was the because the pasta was beyond al dente, there were globs of pasta on the plate that had fused together and looked like giant dumplings. At this point in the meal, we were out of wine and asked our server to bring more. We were then told that the fixed price dinner included only one glass of white and one glass of red for each person. I'm only slightly exaggerating when I say that our entire table looked at the server with a what can only be described as a WTF!! glare. We were halfway through the meal and all the wine was almost gone. So, if you're going to organize a fixed price meal where you're including wine, wouldn't if be wise to stipulate the fact that two glass of wine were being provided as part of the meal...UP FRONT! Also, since some people drink faster than others, someone will always end up with more or less than their fair share. We, of course, gritted out teeth and ordered (and paid for) additional wine. Things started to improve when the meat course arrived. Perfectly cooked spare ribs, seasoned well, falling off the bones. This was the highlight of the evening. Lastly, we were served dessert. I can't complain too much about being in an Italian restaurant that is serving sliced watermelon for dessert because it was on the menu, and I was expecting it. What I wasn't expecting was pale, tasteless watermelon that wasn't even good enough to finish. One person at out table took a bite and said that this is what you feed the pigs on the farm...Ouch. So, Parisi - I still love you and would recommend you to everyone I know however I sadly wont' be going back to Firenze a Tavola anytime soon. read more

Well, I don't know really where to begin with this one. My husband and I went in to celebrate our first month of marriage and thought that Firenze a Tavola would be a great choice. I love the lunch fare upstairs and figured that the dinner menu downstairs would be exceptional. Boy, was I mistaken. First of all, it's like eating in someone's basement. The wall coloring is dark and is accented by dark wooden tables (which I have to admit that I want one for our home). The dining room is divided into two sections, but the noise carries throughout the entire space. The food is barely average and the prices are outrageous for what you get. Needless to say, just stay upstairs - a much better experience!!! read more

I don't give 5 stars. Well I just don't. But this place is a solid 4.9. I wanted to give it only one star so you wouldn't go there; I want this place all to myself. But the folks at Firenze (and their upstairs casual place Parisi) deserve the accolades. This place is utterly fantastic. First, you won't find Lasagne, or spagetti and meat balls, or any of that other stuff perfected by Chef Boyardee. . . . . . this place is the real deal for authentic and fresh Tuscan creations. Try everything on the menu - it's that good. I can never eat there without starting off with the Carpaccio - so thin, so high quality is just melts in your mouth. My favorite dish is Pappardelle con Cinghiale . . . . slow-roasted wild boar ragu with fresh wide pasta noodles that are so delicate! The room can get a little noisy, since it's on the lower level. As many reviewers state, it gives you the feeling of being in a cozy wine cellar - check out the photos on their web site. Make sure you walk downstairs when you first get to the restaurant- there are two restaurants at this location. Very charming ambiance- sort of like an Italian farmhouse. Very rustic and warm. Highly recommend their caprese salad and salmon- simple and delicious dishes. And do not skimp on eating the delicious bread! And finish it all off with a glass of wine (most seemed to be by the bottle, but there were still plenty options by the glass) Service was attentive and speedy. I'll be back. read more

Absolutely great food and ambiance! Dined there recently with my wife on the recommendation of a colleague who lives in Denver and found everything to be top-notch. We're Italian and originally from an "Italian city" in the NE. We don't get Italian food like this in Atlanta (despite its amazing dining scene) and wasn't expecting it on our trip to Denver. I recommend starting with antipasto plate - you may not know the name of everything on it which speaks to its authenticity but believe me, it is all delicious. Between that and our secondi (entrées), we split a pasta dish - homemade raviolis in a cream sauce. If you have never had true homemade pasta (I don't mean the stuff that started out hard in a the box), then you owe it to yourself to try it - and try it here. As if the food isn't reason enough to enjoy this place, the hidden location downstairs (below the casual "Parisi" restaurant on street-level) adds to the experience. I don't recall seeing a sign at the top of the steps and my date (that's my wife) was quite intrigued when, after stepping into a nice looking place with wonderful smells that almost knocked us over and appeared to be our destination, I guided her down a staircase. Since I love Parisi, Firenza's sibling restaurant on the upper floor, I had great expectations for this new more formal restaurant in the basement. I was very disappointed. It was quite pricey and the food was marginal. The best part of the meal was the bread, which was outstanding. The ribollita, a thick vegetable soup with bread and olive oil, was good, but not as good as I had hoped. I had very fond memories of the ribollita from a trip to Florence. The pasta, although it seemed homemade, had an unappealing texture (it was almost crunchy). Neither the Ravioli d'Aragosta, a seafood ravioli, or the truffled linguine were very good. read more

went to Firenze a Tavola last night with a couple of friends for 5280 week. The atmosphere was lovely, very cozy and the host staff was friendly. Our table was in a great little nook with a lot of charm and personality. Once we were seated however, is when they evening started to decline. We ordered a grilled artichoke as an app. While the beet salad was flavorful and tasty, the artichoke was terrible. The plate was swimming in a pool of olive oil, way over seasoned with lemon, garlic & peppers. You did not need the dipping sauce as the plate was so soggy. The Speck Wrapped Trout had over reduced sauce and the entire plate was too salty to eat. ( and I like salt) The Wild Boar Ragu was delish.The desserts are delicious but an underwhelming experience all around. If I go back, I may just stick with the Parisi menu upstairs.... read more

I have been here twice, and most recently the service was super slow. I'd give it five stars for the food (risotto and sea food/sea food stew--yummy), but I'd give the service a 2.5 this last visit. We arrived at 530p, and I felt we were forgotten for a bit. We were offered water initially, but it was 15-20 minutes before I could order my drink, and then another 10-15 min to get my wine. For being slow their service should have been faster. Throughout the night it was busier and ironically the service was better. I really enjoyed the bread/olive oil, but they were slow to initially get this to us as well. The atmosphere is nice, but it can become loud when it gets fuller. My wife and I had a group of 8 near our table, and their conversation overpowered our section. I imagine that some of the sound issues derive from being in a basement, but it isn't great for romance. They do have an extensive wine list if you are into that kind of thing. I would also suggest getting a reservation, as the place does fill up. I will probably go back for the food at some point, but I am not in a hurry. Also, the place was generally filled with folks in their 40s and up (probably due to the price), so if you are looking for a younger crowd, this isn't it. 1 star or 4 stars. So close and yet so far apart. We signed up for a special Ferragosto Community Table event. To quote from the email offer: "Vino Rosso & Vino Bianco INCLUDED!" Wonderful. Except for the "the wine on the table at the beginning is the only wine that is included [and, of course, you winos drank it all before the Secondo]". So, INCLUDED (with an exclamation point) means 2 glasses per person and then you have to pay $34 (and up) for bottles of wine. Damn. I live 4 blocks from Firenze a Tavolo. I love Parisi. But, this "under performing" has left a very sour taste in my mouth. This was our first time at a FaT Community Table event and we were excited as we walked downstairs. Our first reaction after sitting down was: horrible acoustics. The low, hard ceiling and the brick walls make it almost impossible to have a conversation. The food ranged from weak (Watermelon for dessert) to mediocre (the gloppy pasta dish with almost none of the advertised funghi) to very good (the ribs) to excellent (Prosciutto peas corn frisée pesto). read more

My friends and I had a lovely dinner here, after attending Winery Row's first Friday Uncorked. Needless to say, we all were a little tipsy by this point, which could have skewed my perception a tad. Irregardless, we absolutely loved the food and had such a great time. I really dig the atmosphere. Some people mentioned not liking the fact that it's in a basement and all dark. I thought it added to the charm and sexiness of the ambiance. Our server was good and attentive, and helped us find a reasonably priced bottle of wine. I would like to see more options for those of us not able/willing to spend $50+ on a bottle of wine. But the one we went with was very good and complimentary to the food. We started with 2 appetizers to share: Fritto Misto (lightly fried calamari, shrimp, artichokes, asparagus, and baby carrots, with a tarragon-lemon aioli) and the Cartoccio di Coccoli (fried pizza dough served with prosciutto crudo and Stracchino cheese). Both of them were so delicious. I usually don't eat seafood, let alone calamari, but there's was really good and not fishy-tasting at all. The aioli was the perfect accompaniment....it would make even cardboard taste good. The pizza dough was pillowy, soft, and heavenly. The cheese that came with it was the perfect choice, along with the salty prosciutto. For dinner we decided to share a couple entrees. The first one was the Spaghetti alla Briganti (homemade spaghetti with fresh crushed tomatoes, basil, Tuscan olive oil, paprika, and shaved Pecorino cheese). The homemade pasta was divine, and the sauce was so flavorful. Even though it was delicious, I felt it was a little pricey at $15. Otherwise, it was very good. The second dish was the Tagliolini Verda alla Menta (homemade fresh mint Tagliolini, with sundried tomatoes, burrata cheese, extra virgin olive oil, and pignoli). This was my favorite dish of the evening. The pasta was amazing, and really different with the mint flavor. It went perfectly with the sweet sundried tomatoes and creamy burrata cheese. This dish alone will bring me back to Firenze again soon. The food was amazing, along with the wine, service, atmosphere, and of course, the company. I will definitely return, but due to the price it will probably be only for a special occasion. read more

An expensive and odd menu. The place has a nice ambiance but the food is sort of Italian fusion, with odd combinations of flavors. The Farro salad was disappointing as it was mostly grain and have little salad in it. I would only recommend it to people who want to try something different and not at all traditional Italian. read more

Great atmosphere down in the basement of Parisi! Stone walls and wood tables create a very cozy effect where you can enjoy conversation with room enough to not feel crowded. The food is delicious and the wine selection is solid. The beet salad was fantastic and the polenta was prepared Tuscan style! The apple strudel for dessert was a great way to finish and they serve Lavazzo coffee! The neighborhood has bounced back from what it was 20yrs ago so it is a great place for a walk after dinner! read more

I ate here last night for restaurant week and really enjoyed myself. I had eaten at Parisi's before, but had never been downstairs to Firenze a Tavola. As other reviewers have said, the atmosphere is very warm and cozy; it just feels right. We were unfortunately stat at a table to the side kind of tucked behind a wall so I don't feel like I really got to enjoy the atmosphere quite as much as I would have liked. The noise level was quite a bit louder that I would have preferred. I had to ask my girlfriend to repeat herself quite a few times. Overall though, I enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was really good as well. We received 3 courses, and I enjoyed all of them (I tried all of my girlfriends too!). Portion sizes are perfect, not too overwhelming, but they will leave you full. I really enjoyed the bread as well. That's one of my favorite parts of dining at an italian restaurant. However, I do have a complaint about the oil and balsamic they serve. It comes in a narrow but deep dish, and there's about an eighth of an inch of balsamic covered by a half inch of olive oil. It was nearly impossible to enjoy any of the balsamic without sponging your entire piece of bread in oil. I was quite frustrated by this haha. The service was pretty good but not exceptional. It was probably busier than usual due to restaurant week, so perhaps the service is usually a little more attentive. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable though, so I was satisfied overall. I would recommend FaT for a nice date night, or evening with friends. Probably not ideal for small children, but great for adult night out! read more

My boyfriend and I got invited here for a client appreciation dinner hosted by the financial firm I invest with and holy crap was it good! This was the first time I've been here and before that I've never even heard of it. This restaurant is situated underneath of another restaurant called Parisi, so walking it you'd think it was a very casual place but then as you walk downstairs to Firenze you get taken into a more rustic atmosphere with exposed brick, perfect for date night. Being that we were part of a group, we had a prix fixe menu. First course was a platter of different cheeses, meats, bruschetta and veggies; all so very flavorful, I was obsessed with the bruschetta. Second course, I chose a salad with iceberg lettuce, pears, walnut, gorgonzola cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette; it was okay, I wish had more vinaigrette! Third course, I got the lobster and shrimp ravioli with a sherry wine sauce.. oh my gosh so delicious, I wish I saved some for leftovers! My boyfriend had the NY strip steak with roasted potatoes and asparagus, holy crap I couldn't stop my self from eating off his plate, for such a simple dish it was so flavorful. For dessert, we got tiramisu, definitely made in house, strong espresso taste. Service was great! Having over 50 people, all the servers handle everything with grace. They catered to every little request we had and even joked around with us! We'll definitely be coming back here to check out the full menu. Until next time! read more

We really like it at Firenze, and you should check out this gem below Parisi. Start with the Cartoccio di Coccoli, you won't regret it. We have been twice in the last month. Went for a living social, but ordered on menu. So we went back again to use the living social. We had Pierro as our server the first of these two visits. He turned us on to a fantastic Barolo on the menu. The second time we went we ordered the same bottle of Barolo. The server struggled with the cork and it broke four times when she tried opening it. My fiancee thought that could spell trouble. Turns out on first taste we knew right away the bottle was flat, and oxidized. We asked her to taste, and when we turned around the owner, and Pierro were standing there. We explained to the owner, how it tasted. At first he thought it didn't meet our taste buds. Until we told him we just had it three weeks prior. Next thing we know Pierro is standing there with a new bottle uncorking it. Wine is a big thing to us, is what the owner said and without a flinch they replaced our wine. Both confirming, it was oxidized as they later tasted it. The Pasta is always cooked very nicely, and meat in their ragu or dishes is tasty as well. We appreciate a good Italian place, with a New York feel being located under Parisi. On the living social menu, they had a beautiful pork belly dish. Keep it up! read more

Finally had the opportunity to give Firenze a Tavola a try. We were a bit surprised by the four-course dinner that we had accidentally walked into for New Year's Eve, but we decided to be flexible about it and stick it out to give this place a try. After reading many reviews about this restaurant, I feel that most people really captured it well. My opinion of it was that the food was mostly great. Very tasty combinations that led to happy mouths. Though four courses was just TOO MUCH food that I ended up feeling sick and I even took home leftovers. We also had two dishes with temperature issues. One entree served cold, and one dessert served frozen. The entree was sent back, the dessert we just considered to be sloppy. I can also agree that the speed of the service leaves a little something to be desired. It was very slow. It took over 2 and half hours for us to eat, mostly due to the time it took for our entree to come back out after being sent back. It was a little disappointing considering the cost that was involved, but the flavor of the other dishes brings this restaurant back up to a three star rating for me.
