The food and service both are excellent! The atmosphere is also great! We eat at The Cherry Tomato every time we are in Denver.

THE CHARM IS GONE --bring Danny back to train the current horrible waitstaff. We've been loyal customers for 20 years, but last night we experienced terrible service, even though the restaurant was somewhat empty for a Friday. After our food arrived, we couldn't get our waiter's attention. When he finally rushed over, he just handed us the check without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. We tried to order an extra meal to take home, but he claimed it would take 30 minutes because they were "a very busy restaurant." I called BS as there were plenty of empty tables, but he clearly didn't care. It makes no sense for staff to rush customers out and actively discourage them from spending more money. While the food is still good, this place is definitely not the same anymore. read more

Such a fun neighborhood place, featuring Italian options in a cozy environment at good prices. Tucked away on a street corner in a vibrant part of Park Hill, The Cherry Tomato works so well. This is one of my favorite places in Denver. Grateful to Elena and Matt for all their assistance and excellent custoner service. The food was very delicious and the pasta was fresh! We were seated on the outside area which was nice with the string lights :) My main qualm is that our food took a veeeery long time to be served. It was a pretty busy night but I feel like the length of time was still substantial. I do live close to the area so I'm looking forward to trying this place again and hopefully it will be a shorter wait for food! read more

The restaurant is nice, however it is really really tight. Trying to get to my seat I was almost knocked over by one of the waitstaff trying to get around me. Where I was seated my back was up against the back of the person sitting behind me at a different table. At one point when part the waitstaff was clearing the table behind me, he had to grab my shoulder to balance himself. The food was good, my only complaint is it was very salty. I may give it another chance, but not anytime soon. read more

Still the Best Martini on 23rd A few years ago I wrote a review entitled " The Best Martini on 23rd & that is still true. The "Tomato" is a neighborhood gem with a cult following beyond Park Hill. The menu has lots of choices, good food quality & reasonable prices. Scuttlebutt has that a typical date night for 2 costs $180. You can spend $180 if so please but there's no question that you can have a fabulous date for well under $100. The " Tomato" is a fun night out, great for kids. My wife and I met our niece here Sunday evening for dinner at 6 PM. This place was packed! Though we called ahead a half an hour to get on the waiting list, we still had to wait about 10 or 15 minutes before we were seated inside. Lovely place with a lot of character! We opened with adult beverages. And Negroni for me and blackberry Smash for my wife and niece. For a starter, we ordered their beef carpaccio. It was as delicious as it was picturesque! Very scrumptious! For our dinners, our niece ordered sautéed mushrooms and pasta, my wife their Puttanesca, and I their beef medallions. We also enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. It was a leisurely and enjoyable dinner time catching up with some really great food and a very eclectic and lovely place. The serving team was superb! We arrived here on a rainy Sunday and were seated quickly with our party of 2. By the end of the night the skies had cleared and it was packed! Service was great, water was constantly refilled and food came out quickly. We enjoyed the eggplant polenta starter and my husband enjoyed the chicken parm and I the alfredo. The food was warm, delicious and with a lot of authentic Italian flavors. The service was 10/10, the waiters were so attentive and very friendly, the atmosphere in this place was phenomenal, feels like having dinner at home. So what can i say. This place is more that a restaurant. Its a community. Neighborhood kids working the floor, locals saying hello to each other, The food is very good and very well priced. We've celebrated many special occasions at this quaint Italian spot inside an older building (The old park hill drugstore) on a cozy corner in Park Hill. Tonight was one such occasion. There were 7 of us and they seated us near the open back door and restroom. Hmmm. Not great, and I think it added to us feeling like we were shoved "out of the way". We had to throw our sweaters back on since it was an early spring windy night. A couple drink orders were forgotten about. It was busy, but we felt kinda ignored over other tables for sure. Food took around an hour to come out. They don't give out bread with olive oil like at some Italian restaurants. We also didn't get an appetizer, so maybe y'all wanna think about doing that if you mind an hour wait. The food was delicious though, as usual. We dined on a variety of menu selections at our table, and there were plenty of options for vegetarians. Wine list is impressive and no one who ordered wine was disappointed. We skipped dessert because we had been there long enough and it was late for us. Hopefully being ignored by our server was a rarity. We came here on a Friday night. We joined the waitlist by calling in and still had to wait about 40 minutes once we got there the inside was warm so we selected to seat in the outside patio since it was a nice warm night. Our waiter was very friendly. The food took a little longer to come out, but it was, really well-made and super tasty. I got the award-winning lasagna and it was really good. My friend got the chicken parmigiana and I tasted it and it was also very good. The prices were ok. Very good dinner experience. read more

We came back to this super cute family neighborhood Italian spot. It's kinda loud but still nicely intimate. The food menu is large, with a lot of vegetarian options. The service was slow but polite and unobtrusive. My water was always full! Unfortunately this was a good thing last night - I ordered the gnocchi with arrabiatta sauce. I know arrabiatta spicy and on their menus is described as "furious - bold and fiery"... but my god for if something is going to be THAT spicy they need to tell you. I couldn't even chew one gnocchi without my mouth exploding into a fiery pit of hell and not being able to concentrate it was so spicy. I should have sent it back but I hate wasting food. I forced myself to eat some of it. It wasn't great. On the plus side, my boyfriend loved his spaghetti bolognese, and the garlic bread app was tasty! 4 stars for original visit, ambiance, garlic bread Spicy sauce gets 0. One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants in the Park Hill area, Cherry Tomato is a lovely go-to for fabulous Italian food. They also do great takeout if you're wanting an at-home meal, but I think it's definitely a worthwhile spot to visit. They've recently built out some patio space (since the indoor restaurant is often filled to the max). We always have great service and enjoy our meals here! Our favorite entrees: Pasta Felese (with artichokes, sundried tomotoes, chicken & creamy sauce), and the seafood fettucine "speciale". Both dishes are unique and so yummy. read more

It was a fantastic meal with good friends. It was a weeknight and I was happy to see the place so busy. Popular places usually mean what you are getting is great and it did not disappoint. Since they don't take reservations we waited a short while at the bar before a table large enough for our group of 5 was available. The staff were attentive without being pushy and made wonderful suggestions. Despite every table being full we were happy that this traditional layout Italian place wasn't too loud to interactive with those we came with. The Cherry Tomato was highly recommended by a few people within my network as a kind of hidden gem for Italian food so my girlfriend and I were stoked to check it out. Food: Overall, everything we had was very tasty with reasonable prices. The only complaint we had was that the main dishes we had (vegetable lasagna and risotto al funghi) were very salty. We do have more of a preference towards bland food though so the saltiness may be fine for the average American. Service: The service we received was immaculate! We never had an empty water glass or had to wait for much of anything. Great job staff! Ambiance: The restaurant is really cool with much of the historic aspects of the building left intact. We had a lovely family dinner here the other night. Because they're always super busy and don't take reservations for small parties, and we have a toddler, we showed up when they open, at 5. We started with an order of garlic bread, which was fantastic. My old fashioned was also super yummy. My husband had the meat lasagna- so good!! I had the eggplant parmigiana with a side of pasta. I thought my eggplant was delicious but the spaghetti was way too garlicky for me. However, it ended up being the only thing my son would eat besides the bread, so it worked out perfectly. read more

One of my son-in-laws favorite places. It is a small place so get a reservation. It appears to be a good place for families as well as date night. Our service was good and folks were very friendly esp accommodating a toddler in our party. Food was very good but not great. I ordered chicken piccata and again it was good but honestly my husband makes better. My husband got the mushroom risotto and asked for scallops with it. He was disappointed they were little bay scallops but he still enjoyed it. I will say they had good cheese garlic bread but it was not made the typical way with tons of cheese. It was more subtle but the flavor was great. One thing that does need to improve is their restrooms. The toilets seemed clean enough but decorative stuff and furniture haven't been cleaned in at least a decade. I'm going to sneeze just thinking about it. read more

We are in from out of town for a national soccer finals for my daughter. They served her a rancid steak. She had three bites and said it didn't taste right. My husband and I smelled it, it was putrid. There is no way they didn't smell the rotting steak when they cooked it. I pray she doesn't get food poisoning tonight. Will never go back and I will tell my family in Denver about the awful experience. read more
