We love a redemption arc. Now THE dish: chicken Marsala.MISS THING. Would you just look at her?! Rich, a little spicy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness with mushrooms living their best life. Paired with those homemade noodles and that sauce? I was ready to propose. It has to be the best thing on the menu. I refuse to believe otherwise. The salad? ...she tried.Not offensive, not impressive. Just... there. It existed. It participated. The spicy Italian dressing had a little kick (because apparently I crave chaos), but the tomato was wilted like last night's bad decisions. And the bread? We hadn't been here in a couple of years, so my husband and I decided to give it another try for a Sunday lunch. Arvada Villa is a special place. Open since 1960, it has a small-owned, family feel but it does feel a bit dated, and some minor upgrades could really lift the perceived quality. For example, our waters were served in chipped plastic cups with plastic bendy straws. The prices are just too much for plastic cups and bendy straws for me. I think it was one of the owners who served us when we went. He made sure to mention to every table he seated that none of his staff showed up that day. There was just one other person in there also helping him. We felt bad so gave them grace for the long waits, but it certainly did start our lunch out on a strained, uncomfortable note. I've seen several other reviews from the past year mention staffing problems. Food: The housemade blue cheese dressing is really good. I'm glad he convinced us to try that. The salads are little basic iceberg salads. Now, the lasagna and the chicken parm were delicious. That's why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3. We did really enjoy our entrees and the leftovers we took. (And I am glad for the prices that we had leftovers and made multiple meals from it). I'm not a fan of the thick cut spaghetti pasta, but my husband loved it. If you want, they will bring you bread, but know that's it's just nontoasted, plain dry white bread with little packets of butter. You could probably be better off skipping that. I'd like to come back for dinner again sometime and see if the vibes are a bit classier. read more

Amazing hidden gem in Arvada! We had a most wonderful meal at Arvada Villa Italian restaurant. The young woman who was our server was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding us through menu selections, despite having a lot of tables during a busy lunch. And the food was unbelievably good. The eggplant Parmesan tasted like they had made it in the kitchen instead of at the Olive Garden factory 1000 miles away. The server laughed when I told her that and confirmed that it was made according to an old family recipe. And we both couldn't believe how good the spaghetti noodles were. Nice and thick yet perfectly cooked. Probably the best I've ever had, and I used to be married to an Italian! Sauces, service, friendly atmosphere... We will be back! read more

Been a customer for 40+ years, one of my favorite places to visit when i come back home. My last visit was one of the worst experiences in my life at a restaurant. They are very under staffed waited with empty tables for almost an hour, didn't get water, salads arrived not correct.. Never got plates. One pizza delivered the other dropped "hopefully we would get it before they stopped serving". Expressed frustration with waitress which brought the manager or who ever over who told me if I didn't like it I could leave, that she was in tears. I explained that I wasn't upset with her but him for not having enough staff. This has never been a restaurant with good service but the food was good enough to over look it. I will never go there again. Gave our waitress a 100 tip and apologized. Others in our party paid for their food never got a bill. read more

Truly a hidden gem! Don't be fooled by an older looking exterior as the inside is extremely nice! I came for the Italian beef sandwich to go and wasn't disappointed by any means. It was extra meaty so the bun to meat ratio was spot on. A tad more seasoning to bring the flavor up would be my only suggestion. I sat at the bar while waiting and enjoyed a Rum & Coke. Very healthy pour. The family that works there and owns it are extremely nice. If I were going on a first date, or any date, this would be the place. If you could give a restaurant zero stars this would be the one. Walked in party of 4 people Sunday evening with two other tables sat at the time. Ordered within 15 mins and never saw the server again. An hour and a half went by we finally received our breadsticks and salads (apps).Sat for almost TWO HOURS before she came back to the table and acted SURPRISED we still had not received our entrees. I have been in the service industry for almost 11 years and have NEVER received this kind of terrible service. The cherry on top of this horror show was when we asked to cancel the food and grab the check for our sodas the food was MAGICALLY ready coming out and ready. They did not offer to pack it to go no charge for our egregious wait AND they did not even apologize for all of this inconvenience. First, I'll start by saying this has been a favorite of mine for many years. It was my favorite when Jimmy was cooking the pizzas. We went there for dinner, and they were able to accommodate our group of ten, which we truly appreciated. The restaurant was not what I would call "busy" in the sense that there were people waiting for tables to turn and a line of people stacked up, but it was steady. I believe I saw two servers in the dining area. Our particular server was super nice and friendly, however it seemed like she may have been a bit overwhelmed. I there was a significant wait time from drink orders to delivery and even longer to place the dinner order. I expected to wait longer since we were a ten top, so I won't complain. My reason for the two stars is that the food highlighted that my favorite pizza place no longer existed. The pizza was oily, soggy, floppy and hard to eat. And the flavor definitely with Jimmy. I think the best thing to do is change the name. You changed the quality, the decor, the flavor... maybe time to retire Arvada Villa. I cannot say I will be longing for that dinner again. read more

Wow.....exceeded all expectations, a fantastic authentic Italian restaurant right in Arvada. Perfect ambiance and friendly staff -- so super friendly, we felt like regulars on our first visit! Perfect portions- meaning you will prob leave with leftovers but that's expected at a delicious Italian restaurant! The homemade pasta was divine. Eggplant parm cooked to perfection, not slimy or too thick like some places...it melted in your mouth. Hubby got the chicken parm and ate the whole thing in one sitting because it was too good to stop! And we finished the meal off with spumoni. They sat us almost immediately at a table with a framed photo of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. It was as close to a New York pasta joint as I've experienced since moving out west years ago. This is a very nice restaurant to dine in given you have enough time. We went there on a Saturday early evening and it was quite busy but were seated promptly. It is clean and does have several tv's and sports were on. It also has a bar area. We were waited on quickly but did have a bit of a wait for our food. But this gave us plenty of time to enjoy our company. The atmosphere reminds me of an old time Italian restaurant. It is not fast food! I had the eggplant Parmesan, and we also had the stuffed shells and a thing called a canoli. Two of our meals included salad which was excellent. We chose ranch on the side. The salads were fresh and had cheese sprinkled into it. My eggplant was loaded with mozzarella. Also it had spaghetti drenched in sauce. Clearly the spaghetti was made not out of a box. Enough for two meals! It was tasty enough for me! The other two meals looked good too. This place has been around since 1960 and yet was attractive not run down at all. Given the crowd it was noisy but we still enjoyed our time there. Overall it rates high on my list of places to go. It's a bit hidden away in a shop area but very nice inside. read more
