I had someone visiting from out of town so of course I had to take them to TaBom. They changed their menu! They have so many cool new things on the menu now it's pretty good. They also don't have Yelp waitlist anymore and instead just a walk-in system. My favourite still remains their special Tabom chicken!

Great service and great food! Love their choices of meat and the strawberry yakult soju is delicious! There is free parking in the back. They are also so nice to let us keep our ice cream cake in their freezer!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Went for lunch on a weekend it was not busy at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Was seated right away, the staff was very friendly. We ordered the bulgogi lunch set and didn't realize it came with so many sides. We could not finish either sets, it was great value for $20 each. We packed most of it to go. You get to try a little bit of everything in the dishes. We were really glad we tried their lunch as we usually go for dinner.

Staff were super considerate of my allergies, checking about ingredients for multiple ban chan and if things were okay for me. Really appreciated that they knew to switch the shrimp tempura to a second sweet potato one for me. Lunch special was great and very reasonably priced considering how much food you get. All 3 of us left very full. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathroom was clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We met up with a friend here for lunch and it was good. We were seated very quickly when we arrived. After looking at their menu, at first we were thinking about individual entrees but we saw their whole menu through a QR code and got a Hot Plate to share. I wish they had a physical copy of their Hot Plate menus on the table. We ordered the Hot Plate Teokbokki, substituted the pork for beef, and added ramen. It was nice how they brought the huge hot plate and had it grilled at our table. We waited a couple minutes to cook before we ate. Our hot plate had so many components: beef, chicken katsu, fish cakes, rice cakes, cheese, corn, steamed egg on the side, gyoza, egg in the center, and green onion. I loved the fish cakes, beef, and chicken katsu the best. The beef was flavorful and I loved the texture of the chicken katsu. I really liked the corn and melted cheese on the side. Also the banchan on the side were tasty too. There were so many options to choose from since it came with so much, I liked it. Everything was delicious. We had a good experience here and it's great to share hot plates if you have a small group.

I really enjoyed my experience at Ta Bom for lunch! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was relatively quiet, which I appreciate and food delicious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The beef bulgogi was absolutely delicious and recommend. The service was kind and effective from arrival to checkout.

    Mala Tteokbokki

Came here on a Saturday around 6:45pm and we got sat right away. We ordered the Mala Tteokbokki and it was sooo good. It came with tteokbokki, vegetables, meatballs, pork, corn cheese, and steamed egg. The mala broth was very flavorful and spicy! It may look like a lot, but my friend and I were able to finish the whole thing because it was that delicious!! The servers were very attentive as well and would check in to make sure we had everything we needed :) We would love to come back if we're ever in town again.

Good variety of traditional Korean food including all the side dishes. The lunch deals are a nice assortment at a reasonable price. I was a bit disappointed in the Dolsot Bibimbap because the rice never crisped up, but the ingredients were good.

What a fun and delicious Korean restaurant. You order the large dishes in plates which comes with corn and fluffy eggs, similar to how you would get them in traditional Korean BBQ restaurants. Our group ordered the seafood pancake, tteokboki, and bulgogi plate. The seafood pancake was large and thick. The exterior was nice and crispy and the interior was thick and fluffy. Good flavor and filling. I was pleasantly surprised by their tteokboki dish. We got medium spice and it was just right. They add in gyoza, chicken katsu, a boiled egg, and some bulgogi in addition to the rice cakes and fish cakes. The bulgogi plate was a double order, and the flavor was fantastic! We ate family style from the dishes. Everyone was very pleased and happy with this place.

My friends and I came to Ta Bom after work around 5. We got their boneless chicken wings and the grilled chicken. Everything was tasty and the corn cheese works well together with the entire meal. Service was standard. Great place to share dinner with friends in casual environment. Would come again!

Hot plate with pork bulgolgi, cheese, corn

Pretty unique Korean BBQ/hot plate place. Great atmosphere and service - they are pretty patient with you knowing most people don't know the concept. The key thing are the hot plates - they serve partially cooked meat and veggies on a hot plate served over a grill in the middle of the table. You have to wait 10 min or so for it to finish, in the mean time you can have banchan and rice and other things you order on the side. The meat and veggies mix is really good. It goes so well with rice and corn and cheese. We added noodles which mixed with the grill is great. The chicken is also very well presented. Dipping sauces on the sides. Slightly dry but sauces are great. Would definitely come back, want to try pork belly and other meats.

Came here as a group of 5 and we ordered just enough food, for a reasonable price. The only thing we weren't too thrilled about was that the Bossam doesn't come with lettuce; $5 for lettuce. Everything else was great! Got the tteokboki, bulgogi stone bowl, seafood soondubu. Perfect for sharing and spacious booth tables!

    BAAM chicken & Jukkumi-juyeuk bokkum

I went here with two friends around lunch time and thankfully, there wasn't a really long wait. We got seated and to be honest, throughout the whole experience, service was pretty slow. They were definitely very kind, however, we felt that at times they forgot about our table, didn't check up on us, and it was hard to get a staff member's attention. We didn't mind too much as we could talk between ourselves and are pretty patient but it was a bit annoying when we needed something. The decor inside is very Korean though and the space is a bit small but in a cozy way. :) We ordered the BAAM chicken, a hot plate, and a soup. The soup was alright (good but nothing spectacular), the fried chicken was amazing (we couldn't finish it and brought it home for later and it was a great late night snack), and the hot plate was delicious. This was the first time I've tried Korean hot plate in this style and I wish there was something like this where I live. The only thing was that we had to choose two different meats, which was a bit hard as we only wanted a particular one, but in the end we chose the octopus one. As it was my first time, the staff member directed us on how to eat it, how long we should wait, and helped us in serving. They were great. Definitely would come back and I think this would be such a fun place to go to for a late night drink with friends!

The food took a bit of time, but it was well worth it...homes-cooked in a fast-food setting! Saucy chicken bites were delicious and had a great sweet/chili/sticky sauce all over the crispy bites. Excellent quality for an amazingly cheap price. Coconut Chicken Soup was as good if not better than Tom Kha Kai at family-owned holes in the wall--depth of flavours, coconutty goodness, enough spicy heat, and lots of white meat chicken. Way to go, chain Thai! Chicken Pad See Ew was also fresh, delicious, and with a generous variety of veggies mixed in with the perfectly al dente and chewy/springy noodles! The one ding was that the Veggie Spring Rolls came out about 20 minutes into eating our food. Without any explanation, the "appetizer" was delivered almost as a dessert! (They were fresh, crispy, well-filled, and had a tangy/sweet/sour dipping sauce, though!) Why delayed? No one ever explained. Overall, Rice & Noodle will be my have-to-go-to place whenever I visit Vancouver in the future. If I could, I'd try to convince the owners to expand into the Los Angeles, CA region SOONER rather than later!! Yum, yum, delicious! And oh, so economically priced. (All of the above food was less than $35 USD!)

Dwenjang jjigae had an interesting twist. It was lighter and more radish-forward than the traditional version, which I didn't mind, but it felt a bit unusual to call it dwenjang jjigae. It came with mushrooms, radish, tofu, and thin slices of beef. Overall, it was light and very enjoyable. Soondae was different from the typical version I'm used to. Here, it's made with an innards casing and the filling was also different, like meaty with less noodles. It had a strong flavor and aroma that I didn't prefer but the texture was soft, not chewy, and it paired nicely with kimchi and radish. It was fine to try but I probably wouldn't order it again. We ordered a small, and couldn't finish. Side dishes were limited to three varieties (fish cake, kimchi, bean sprouts) and served in small portions. With the richness of the bossam and strong taste of the soondae, we needed more kimchi and pickled radish but it was hard to get our server's attention, likely because she was busy attending to all the tables. We enjoyed the warm ambiance, and it seemed like many diners were enjoying the army stew. We'll be back to try more items and for the bossam.
