We came for dinner with reservations for the chef's table. Sitting right along the kitchen gave us a clear view into the rhythm of service. Watching plates come together and seeing what other diners ordered added an extra layer of fun that you don't get at a standard table. From our visit, the roasted mushroom pizza stood out. I loved the combination of confit garlic, fontina, and arugula pesto. It hit a nice balance of earthy, creamy, and slightly peppery, and the crust had that ideal chew with a crisp edge. We also ordered the baked Japanese sweet potato which leaned simple but satisfying. It was soft with an almost custardy texture. The pork belly with chicharron was tender but definitely one of the heavier dishes of the night. Service was excellent. Dishes arrived at a comfortable pace, and the team seemed in sync with the kitchen, which you especially notice when you're sitting right in front of it. One of the nice restaurants in Vancouver with unique bird cages on top of their bar area. Initially, I thought they wouldn't be family friendly but I was wrong. They have kids menu which included their famous pizza so obviously we ordered the pepperoni one for our son. The pizza itself was really good. It was thin and flavorful but the pepperoni was rather hot for my young son. We bunch a few appetizers and one entree. We loved their Argentinian shrimp which was so flavorful. We also tried their famous buttermilk fried chicken served with maple syrup. The batter was light and was fried perfectly (not oily). We also ordered the kale salad which came as generous serving. We ordered the trout as our entree. The trout was by far our least favorite; it was rather fishy for us. Amazing random dinner find in Vancouver! Everything was closed as we were looking for a late night dinner and then we came across this place which was still busy on a Monday night. We got seated at the bar which was great and the menu is a good mix of high end and casual . Really cool moody dark place inside with minimal lighting! We had a Negroni and espresso martini as our cocktails which were on point and perfectly made, and they bought out some of the best focaccia I've ever had . With big airy holes and a nice tomato cheese topping. Excellent. Next we tried the rigatoni with classic Arribatta sauce and whipped ricotta and basil oil. Another great dish. Not complicated but so tasty. Loved the freshness. The basil oil was a good touch. The prosciutto pizza with cherry tomatoes and arugula and mozzarella was another delicious serve. Great thin crust and delicious toppings and plentiful. Dessert we tried the salted caramel pot du creme with vanilla and butterscotch. Wow! So good! Creamy and thick and sweet. Nightingale is a nice restaurant located between Burrard and Canada Place. It has a nice mix of italian and international dishes. Went there for lunch with colleagues and shared 3 pizzas. Really loved the spicy spianata salumi, piquillo pepper, san marzano tomato pizza. The crust was perfect and lovely overall flavours. The San daniele prosciutto, cherry tomato, arugula, mozzarella pizza was also quiet good, a bit more healthy but the arugula takes a bit of the flavour. The roasted chanterelle mushroom, spinach, mozzarella, fontina pizza had the least flavours and felt less interesting to eat but was still good overall. Service was fast and atmosphere relaxed. Of course we had to try Nightingale because of Drake, but the real highlight ended up being our server..who, ironically, was not a Drake fan at all! Still, he was hands down one of the best servers we had during our time in Canada. The customer service alone would bring me back. The most recent time was to celebrate my friend and I's birthday so we booked a reservation for a Friday night. I was seated right away while I waited for my friend to arrive. The food is meant to be share plates so the sever recommended 3-4 for the 2 of us. We went with the broccolini, focaccia, sweet potatoes and rigatoni to share. Everything was phenomenal! They do a really good job at elevating even the most basic items by using complex spices and sauces which I really appreciate. Sweet potatoes are never my favourite but it turned out to be our favourite dish, followed closely by the focaccia which was a great portion size and perfect in texture and taste. I will say that as a vegetarian, the pasta is the only large plate on the menu that's available but there are tons of smaller plates that are veg-friendly so you won't go hungry. The restaurant itself is beautiful - lots of space and they offer a coat check as well. Our server was nice and prompt, and she even gave us cookies to go as a birthday treat which were divine! The first 2 dishes came out individually and were replaced shortly after we finished them - it was perfectly timed. Not overly sweet or salty, with both these flavors complementimg each other so well. 2) Baked Japanese sweet potato 5/5: The sweet potato was cooked perfectly. The toppings were delicious. 3) Manila clam spaghetti 5/5: Best seafood pasta we've had! 4) Rigatoni all'arrabbiata 5/5: Noodles were perfectly al dente. The sauce was cream, also bright and fresh. It's a good place to bring out of town guests when visiting Vancouver downtown and my only notes for visitors may be it can be loud upstairs so may not be ideal for serious conversations or seniors and do budget time and costs for downtown parking when driving. The menu is full of unique dishes, and we were particularly impressed with the cauliflower--it's a simple vegetable jazzed up with a complex and delicious flavor profile. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share with our whole table. Here are my top picks. I am not much of a salad person, but I will never turn down a beet salad. I loved the creaminess of the whipped feta mixed with the acidity from the orange. The buttermilk fried chicken was so addictive. I kept helping myself to more. It had the perfect sweet to savory ratio. My only wish was that the provided us with a serving spoon, so that I could have scooped up the sauce along with the piece of chicken. The braised meatballs were massive and hearty. They were moist and flavorful. The rigatoni all'arrabbiata really surprised me. We were unwilling participants in what I assume was a restaurant-sanctioned social media campaign during our dinner. For 90 minutes, we were subjected to an "influencer " and her photographer (huge camera lens, flash photography) documenting every aspect of this influencer's meal. This was the table immediately next to us. While taking pictures is definitely a thing in restaurants today, and people documenting every bit of their meal is also acceptable, it's really unfair to fellow diners to have to tolerate constant flash photography or lighted video. It was especially egregious when the influencer insisted on seeing the work every few minutes, thus pointing the camera lighting away from her table and at us unwilling spectators. Again, this went on for 90 minutes. I am assuming that the restaurant was okay with this because not a single staff member (and it's a wonderfully staffed restaurant) asked them to stop or even tone it down. Most commercial filming in the city requires notice communications so that one can avoid it. Why not here? And for those of us who were accidentally filmed--I don't believe they got anyone's consent to include their images in commercial footage? Certainly the restaurant benefits from this "engagement ". He was good though and I'm not complaining, nor am I taking a star off for that. What I'm taking a star off for is the food. I was a bit disappointed and underwhelmed by it. The pizza crust was very charred. I think they made the mistake of drizzling the honey on the pizza before baking it. Also underwhelmed by their Brussel sprouts. We were seated on the top floor right in front of the open kitchen which honestly made the experience so much more memorable as we got to watch the talented chefs cook and prepare the dishes. I love nightingale! It is a great restaurant that goes otherwise unnoticed from the outside. It's a two level dining masterpiece and perfect for date night or girls night. Their fried chicken and pickles is my personal favourite. It's share style so they encourage multiple dishes for the table instead of one per person. We also got the cappicolo pizza and Brussel sprouts. Pizza was good but I may opt for different toppings next time as my partner got to choose the flavour this time. Brussel sprouts were to die for - I wish there were more and less green onions haha. Nightingale was phenomenal! I can see why they are listed on The Michelin Guide. This little gem in downtown Vancouver was the perfect way to start my birthday trip in Canada. I made reservations online, but due to heavy traffic which we were not anticipating we ran late. Although we made it a few minutes late we were greeted kindly and escorted to our table within a few minutes of arriving. I heard about how amazing their happy hour menu is, which is why I really wanted to come here for happy hour. Their happy hour did not disappoint. We ordered different small plates to share and a couple of drinks. This restaurant encourages sharing which works for us since we love to order different things and share. We ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken, Beet, orange, dill, whipped feta, everything crumble, Baked japanese sweet potato and a Pepperoni pizza. To drink I ordered the Bramble (yaletown distilling gin, lemon, blackberry) it was one of the best drinks I have ever had. The blackberry wasn't just a syrup it was muddled blackberry. The service was excellent! Our sever was so helpful, quick and made us feel like we were old friends! The ambience was great and relaxing. The restaurant is so pretty! Where do I start with Nightingale? We walked by in 3x in 1 day and though we had promised each other that this would be a lowkey trip with small bites only, we couldn't resist getting a reservation here for lunch. After having eaten here, I don't regret it one bit! We had reservations right at opening and arrived about 5 minutes prior; fair warning doors really do open right at opening so if you are a bit early, may nee to walk up and down the street for a short bit. We opted for the chef's table aka facing right into the kitchen upstairs and it was great! A bit more secluded but my husband looooves watching the action happen in the kitchen so he was a huge fan. The interior of this place is ridiculously cute and honestly, you'll love being seated almost anywhere in this spot. We wanted to order...large parts of the entire menu but stayed civilized and tried to order within reason. We went with the grilled broccolini, the Kennebec fries, the butternut squash agnolotti, and the roasted mushroom pizza. I'm going to tell you now, everything was so good it was ridiculous. The broccolini had great flavor and just a little bit of a bite left; great texture and taste. The fries were piping hot and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I am obsessed with fries so let me tell you, when I love them its true love. The agnolotti was so buttery and well balanced. 10/10 would again. And last but not least the pizza was delicious! Esp the arugula pesto which added a dark little touch to the end of the palate. I have about 25 other things on the menu I want to try so best believe we'll return to this spot. Sometimes you're scrolling through yelp and you see a tasty looking picture of a pizza and you had just been talking about pizza for dinner and the spot is only a few blocks away and so, sure, why not, let's give it a shot. If you're me, you're probably in jeans and maybe it was rainy and so you're also pretty damp and then you open the door and realize that maybe you overswung a little with your restaurant choice for a end-of-a-long-weekend casual last meal kind of situation. But it's raining and you're here and that pizza looked good so, let's just see what they can do for us. The folks at the host stand were SO nice and rustled up two seats at the bar right away and no one mentioned the fact that we were a TAD under dressed and more than a tad damp. We are cocktail enthusiasts and there were so many delicious looking cocktails. Normally we each get something different so we can taste twice as many things but the Nightingale Martini sounded amazing and I am a sucker for Grey Whale gin so we both got that. It was not quite as exciting as I was hoping-- as I couldn't taste any of the briny sea notes promised on the menu but gin with a Makrut lime leaf is also tasty. We moved on to wine with our Pizza but were a little surprised at the lack of DOCG wines on their list, which skews heavily toward local-ish options. Nevertheless we enjoyed the wine our waiter recommended. We considered not ordering the pizza when we looked over the whole menu (the risk of doing so little planning before arrival) But, in the end, desire for pizza won out and we went with the Margherita and an order of the cauliflower hummus. Both were delicious! Note that while Nightingale touts Neapolitan style pizzas these are not a true AVPN style. The crust is beautiful and delicious but also notably sour. They are also a bit heavy handed with the cheese (probably most people prefer this). But, if you set aside the non-traditional nature-- the pizza is excellent. I beautiful, sourdough crust, cooked to crackly charred blistered perfection. The hummus dish was also wonderful. A little herby oil and pickled celery perfectly complimented the smokey hummus and perfectly grilled toasts. Had I known this was an award-winning restaurant with a nod from the Michelin folks, I would not have selected it for this particular occasion. Nevertheless, we departed full of delicious pizza, hummus, and martinis and regret nothing. I'm excited to re-visit and dive deeper into both food and cocktail menus. read more

After a little over a year, I recently dined once again at this lovely restaurant close to where I was staying in the Coal Harbor Area. We were originally a party of 8 but at the last minute one menber was not able to make it. We learned when you have 8 or more guests they have a pre-fixe menu but since we were one less they gave us the a la carte menu which as you can see from my pictures from my last visit, the dishes are meant to be shared. NIghtingale is a fun and vibrant place and great for a group of our size or for a special occassion with a date. Highly recommend if you are staying in the area and will be back again. read more

Always an incredible experience. Share-style food menu has both comfort items and some more adventurous dishes. Great atmosphere - bright and light wood finishing. Service always incredible.
