    Berries, Brambles and Bushes cocktail

I loved everything about Alouette--the fresh bread, the delicious cocktail (Berries, Brambles and Bushes), the Spaghettini Provençal, and the ambiance! My server was so attentive and personable and made the whole meal enjoyable. I wish I could have visited again on my short trip to Vancouver!

Wow.. just about everything for brunch was great. Toasted croissant eggs Benedict vs English muffin. Super rich but not filling Hollandaise. White table cloth dining with a full bar.

alouette bistro fully embraces its identity as a fun, fabulous french bistro, and the experience begins the moment you step inside. the dining room is both dramatic and inviting, with soaring ceilings, warm golden lighting, and red fabric strategically draped that draws the eye upward, giving the space a theatrical, almost whimsical feel. behind the bar, two small black and white tv playing casablanca on a loop, adding a nostalgic, cinematic touch that perfectly complements the atmosphere. the room feels lively yet intimate, equally suited for a celebratory night out or a relaxed evening over wine. we visited as a party of three at 4:00 pm on a tuesday, which made for a calm start and an easy introduction to happy hour. our table quickly filled with a generous spread of shareable dishes that highlight classic french flavours with a comforting twist. the escargots arrived bubbling in rich garlic butter, perfect for soaking up with thick slices of crusty bread. a skillet of duck poutine, triple cooked fries topped with confit duck, duck gravy, cheese, and herbs, added a decadent and indulgent touch. the moules et frites, with bc mussels, fennel, tomato, and leeks, were fragrant and balanced, though the mussels were small and not very meaty. the shrimp provencal, with tomato, confit garlic, white wine, and butter, was competent but not memorable. the baked brie with walnut, bacon, maple syrup, and baguette was rich, flavourful, and reliably crowd pleasing, rounding out a solid savoury spread. overall, the food was very good, with most dishes delivering on both flavour and presentation. the only miss was the panisse. it was bland and lacked the depth of flavour found in the other dishes, making it feel like an afterthought on an otherwise strong table. its smooth, almost uniform texture gave it a soft, tofu like consistency that felt one dimensional, without the crisp exterior or contrast that might have made it more interesting. despite being recommended, it did not stand out and was easily overshadowed by the richer and more dynamic plates around it. service throughout the evening was attentive but uneven. multiple staff members checked in frequently, sometimes even before we had our first bites, our plates were cleared and replaced three times. at the same time, the pacing felt inconsistent, with a noticeable lull after we ordered our second round of happy hour and before dessert and again when asking for the bill, giving the experience a slightly disjointed rhythm. dessert, however, was a clear highlight and a strong finish to the meal. the creme brulee featured a perfectly torched, crackable top with a shallow silky custard beneath, balanced by fresh berries. the craquelin profiterole was rich and indulgent, layered with cream and topped with a glossy pour of warm dark chocolate sauce, with caramel popcorn adding a satisfying crunch on the side. the lark bar felt more refined, with a dense, smooth filling paired with a bright raspberry sorbet that cut through the richness beautifully. each dessert was thoughtfully plated and satisfying without feeling overly heavy, making them well worth the wait. overall, alouette delivers a vibrant and visually memorable dining experience, with strong savoury dishes and standout desserts. while the service could benefit from more consistent pacing, the ambiance, happy hour offerings, and sweet finish make it a place worth returning to.

We had a beautiful evening at Aloutte Bistro. We'd been out earlier in the day so we shared some bread and muscles and then a seafood pasta. The muscles were fresh and the broth they were cooked in was super flavorful and aromatic. The seafood pasta was also really good. All of the seafood was fresh and the pasta was cooked nicely. The service and ambiance were also exceptional. I loved the table settings and the whole vibe in general. If you'd like a nice evening out that's still accessible and affordable with quality food, this is definitely a good option.

Charming Bistro Vibe & Stunning French Toast! I stopped by Alouette Bistro on the ground floor of the Executive Hotel Le Soleil for breakfast. The ambiance is wonderful--very sophisticated yet cozy enough for families or solo diners. The female server was exceptionally friendly and made me feel right at home. I ordered the Brioche French Toast and a cappuccino. The French Toast was a showstopper: a thick, decadent slice of brioche beautifully decorated with fresh fruit and whipped cream. It tasted just as good as it looked--rich, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. As someone who makes a lot of coffee at home, I was a bit more critical of the cappuccino. While the flavor was fine, the foam lacked that silky, velvety micro-foam texture I usually look for. That being said, the overall experience was lovely. Between the great service and the elegant decor, it's a fantastic spot for a relaxed morning meal in the city.

It was my birthday, and we were craving some French food, so we decided to try Alouette Bistro. We started with the Escargot, and it was absolutely delicious! Then we had the Bouillabaisse and Duck Cassoulet -- both were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we ordered our favorite treat, Crème Brulée, which was the perfect way to finish the meal. The only small downside was the seating. We booked a couple of days in advance but were given a fairly standard table. Later, we noticed there's an upstairs area that's quieter and cozier -- we thought it was just for larger groups, but some couples were seated there too. I totally understand that reservations don't always guarantee the best table, but since it was a birthday celebration, a little personal touch would've made it extra special. This spot is so lovely and the ambiance harkens to Art Deco Paris. The bar is so ornate it was hard not to order a Kir Royale. Service was hit and miss as we ordered a charcuterie board for two. When asked the types of cheese on the plate the waiter made it up because none were correct. Then he said the kitchen couldn't tell him. (what?) When the hostess came by to check on us I told her what happened and she found out the types of cheese from the kitchen. We actually never saw our waiter again. (I'm guessing he was too lazy to ask). I loved the atmosphere and will give them another chance, probably for dinner instead of brunch.

Made a reservation but was wholly unnecessary at 630 on a Tuesday. Only a few patrons in there. The waiter at the beginning was also the bar tender but other wait staff joined when the restaurant began to get a little fuller. Very attentive staff. The decors was excellent mixing old world maximalism with nice modern aesthetic. A nice intimate feeling to the restaurant. The food was excellent. The bone marrow, I've had it before but I'm not sure how they were able to give it a much more intense beef flavor than previous tastings. A very odd thing I noticed. The Duck cassoulet had green been in it. I think if you were to combine all the cut pieces it would add up to a single green bean. Both the mains were excellent but I feel that they should have been served with bread. I did order a separate side of the bread which lead to the one criticism for the meal. The bread was not served hot. While good quality. Heating it would have made for a better experience. The whole meal was $160 and I would say that for the quality, service and ambience, that was a far price

Came for breakfast one morning and it was great! We had no wait, but we were quite early in the morning. The server was very friendly! Most of us had the eggs benedict, which was served on a croissant, and loved it. The breakfast potatoes were cooked perfectly. There were a lot of other great menu options so I would definitely return for breakfast. The interior was beautiful and I wish I could have wandered upstairs to see more of it. It was a cute little spot and I highly recommend.

Alouette Bistro is absolutely phenomenal. After a long morning of traveling, we landed in Vancouver famished, decided on having a late lunch and found Alouette. We arrived looking a mess with our carryons and backpacks but we were welcomed and seated promptly inside this gorgeous establishment. It was around 2pm and the restaurant was clearing out. The only negative is that the food took longer to be prepared than what we are accustomed to, but it was well worth the wait. We ordered escargot, ratatouille, truffle pasta and seared halibut. Admittedly, this was my first time trying escargot, the butter and herb flavors really shined especially paired with the baguette. However, I had trouble getting passed the fact that I was eating snails. I didn't try the ratatouille but was told it was delicious. On to the halibut, it was seared to perfection! The mashed potatoes were so creamy and the anchovy vierge brought the entire dish together. The star of the show was the truffle pasta. This was honestly the best pasta I've had, ever. It was so creamy with the most amazing cheese pulls and combined with the flavor of the truffle was truly exceptional. I can't wait to be back in Vancouver and enjoying Alouette Bistro again!

This restaurant is located on Hornsby St, in the Hotel Le Soleil. It's a very beautiful space with high ceilings, wood flooring, and a very interesting light fixture over the center of the space. I got there just after it opened so it was empty. Chloe was my server. I started with a double Monkey 47 gin and tonic ($28.50CAD), and ordered Bone Marrow ($24), and Duck Cassoulet with foie gras ($59). Along the way, I had another Monkey 47 G&T and finished with an Americano ($6). The bone marrow came with four pieces of toasted baguette, and some Shimeji mushrooms and pickled onion. It was so unctuous and delicious! The cassoulet was rich, with confit duck, sausage, lardon, and some vegetables. The foie gras add-on ($20) took the dish over the top. This was a fabulous first meal ($156.13CAD + tip) in Vancouver ... I loved everything!

Great place to come for happy hour. The inside of the restaurant gives you that old style European feel. The service here is top-notch. Our server came and checked on us regularly, and we never had to flag any one down. The food reminds me of an upscale French Bistro. My wife and I were already full from lunch, but we wanted to enjoy some wine and cocktails for happy hour. Happy hour pricing made everything very affordable. The shrimp cocktails were medium sized, tasted fresh and sweet. The mussels were plump and delicious. I loved the escargot. I mopped up all the sauce with the bread. I would come back again to enjoy a few glasses of wine during happy hour.

I got the escargot during happy hour and ratatouille. The escargot is great with the bread. Service is excellent and they made sure my glass is never empty. The ratatouille lacks is a bit tangy for me, but it has a nice savory taste to it. It lacks unity overall.

Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

We sat indoors with the option to be seated outdoors with heated lamps but we didn't want to smell the smoke from people smoking outside. We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks. Service is decent and in line with other restaurant bars. Overall, solid drinks at okay prices that I can see myself recommending this spot.
