Everything about this restaurant is amazing. All of the pasta was incredible. We had the steak and lobster spaghetti. I also got the spaghetti Pomodoro. The sauces were so delicious and the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. Our food came out so quickly our server was genuinely such a good time. She was amazing. We were able to sit at the outdoor patio. I had a reservation so you might have to request it because it is a first come first serve basis. I genuinely wish we could go back to Vancouver to eat at this restaurant again. Also, to top it off The chocolate soufflé is to die for. Before our cruise, we had the pleasure of eating at the Joey Burrard at 820 Burrard - not to be confused with the Bentrall location (a few streets down on Pender St). I recommend the one by Robson Street / Burrard b/c it's has a much more relaxed vibe. We walked into the Pender Street one and it's more business/high end. Robson is casual and great staff! First off - when we gave our name for the reservation, we were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. What a start! We then had the pleasure of eating outside and having Brent as our server. Another two pluses! For drinks we got the cocount smash and watermelon drink - both good, but I liked the sparkling wine better. For appetizer, we go the scallop ceviche. Hands down - it was fabulous. The pineapple dressing added the perfect caribbean flavor to it. For entrees we got the prawn fajitas and cauliflower taco plate. They were able to accommodate me and my friend without a reservation on a busy dinner night, which I really appreciated. Service was excellent. Everyone was sweet, attentive, and welcoming, and the complimentary welcome bubbles were a nice touch. The short rib dip was good, though not especially memorable. The udon carbonara with chicken katsu was the standout for me, and my colleague's salmon was also solid. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Stopped by for an evening meal's n the outside patio. Ordered a Red Sangria that was exceptional for a pre-meal cocktail. Up next was the Katsu Chicken salad that will rock your world and taste buds. So much flavor packed onto one plate it's a culinary wonder of the world. Everything bite simply delivered an abundance of flavors and happiness. Katsu chicken portion of salad was breaded perfectly and thinly sliced so it won't over power the salad itself. Ok, now the downer of my meal. The steak was supposed to be cooked medium and it wasn't. Not a real quality tasting steak and the shrimp was nasty so after eating once piece I piled to the side for non consumption. I prayed I would not get ill and die from eating nasty shrimp. Yes I avoided the death penalty phase of my meal and survived to write my tail. Now minor complaint was no salt & pepper on table. No steak sauce offered so should I have wanted to drown out the low quality of steak taste with some A1 sauce I could have. Service exceeded expectations and server was very charming. We had an excellent dinner at Joey Burrad tonight. The only draw back was that our Gyoza appetizer arrived at the same time as our main courses but that was minor. I had the lobster spaghetti. I don't generally order white sauce but this sauce was light and well flavored. My wife had the yellow fin tuna salad which was also excellent. The star of the meal was the dessert. We split the individual baked apple pie with maple ice cream. Wow. It was absolutely perfect I can't say enough about the outstanding service. Just fantastic. I really enjoy the diverse menu at Joey. There's something for everyone. There's another Joey just a few blocks down Burrard. I like the ambience of that one slightly more, but otherwise they are very similar. Service at both is excellent. Appreciate the complementary sparkling wine at check in. This time we had the Gyoza and the Hummus as starters. Both were good. I'd definitely have the hummus again. It was served with tzatziki, olives, currants, and lots of crispy fried pita. The Farmer's Salad was wonderful. A great mix of fruit, lettuce, veggies, and champagne vinaigrette. The Chili chicken was okay. I don't give out very many 5-star reviews, but this was very, VERY close. I literally went to a high dollar steak and seafood joint the night before (just a block over) and this place blew that place out of the water. Service was a little slow; we waited a tad too long before our server came over after sitting, and it took a tad too long to get checked out. The spotty service is the only reason it's not a 5-star review. What a wonderful alfresco dining joint. We opted to sit outside; it was a tad cool, but it turned out great! I had the blackened chicken, which was one of the moistest, most flavorful chicken dishes I've ever had. The potato salad was different than what I'm used to, but excellent nonetheless. Same for the mashed potatoes. My wife had the cod, which I took a few bites of and can confirm ...that, too, was better than the fish she had at the high dollar joint the previous night. Flavorful and moist. Just glistening. We only have two more nights in town...and I'll be hard pressed to not go back before we leave. read more

This is a pretty mixed review. On the plus side the restaurant has a lovely ambiance with lots of outdoor tables with heaters. The service is also very good. They messed up our order but did their best to remedy the errors. The issue is that the food is really just ok. We had the steak frites. overall it was adequate but absolutely nothing special. The restaurant was really warm inside and we guzzled down our water quickly. Our food arrived in a decent time but our waters were not refilled until over half way through the meal. Food was solid, especially the crispy mash. Unfortunately, the crispy chicken bites were a bit soggy and the sauce was meh. We got a half order of the creme brulee cheesecake to go and it was quite good! Pro tip: There's affordable parking at 800 Burrard Street, same block as Joey's. The hostesses at the front are vibrant and charming. They offer a complimentary glass of champagne to sip while you're waiting. If you don't imbibe, they will accommodate your soft drink request. We were seated at a table on the patio which is very close to the street. So if you choose to sit on the patio, There will be city sounds which, apart from the occasional siren, quickly dissolves into the artful landscaping. Raven, our server, was friendly and cheerful, in addition to being appropriately attentive. We started with the mini steak French dips. Expertly seasoned and grilled, new york steak strips over a button gruyere cheese atop a tiny slice of sourdough garlic bread with a side of au jus. These were quite more-ish. I recommend them. My husband enjoyed the Mediterranean salad and I liked my seared ahi tuna salad very much. The tuna is sliced a thicker than carpaccio but thinner than sushi and gently seared. The plating was elegant and the salad finely chopped with bits of mango and shaved avocado on the top.. I tasted a bit of mint leaf and the light dressing was truly perfect. The staff pay attention to the guests and, when your server is busy, they make themselves available for your needs. It appears the staff members enjoy each other's company as well as their jobs. I observed real teamwork throughout. We had the apple pie for dessert. On its own it is delicious with a caramel apple filling and it's flaky , buttery and crunchy crus. It can easily be shared by three people and would have been enough. But do'gild the lily' by adding the Canadian maple ice cream. We felt comfortable and satisfied. We were pleased with every bite and the Joey Burrard experience from start to finish. We will definitely go back and try some other offerings. Go and have fun. Just down the street from our hotel and reviews looked good. Yelp was not wrong. Go Yelp. We had never heard of Joey as it is not in our area but now we wish it was! Miso roasted mushrooms, spicy chicken wings, spicy crab dip with toast and Japanese gyoza were all excellent. Great for sharing and not so much that we had leftovers to take back to a hotel without a fridge. A glass of Pinot and a Guinness zero topped off a nice evening. The maitre'd was spunky and so helpful. She explained that the dining room and bar each served the full menu. We chose the quieter side tonight. But when we heard GOAL! from the bar maybe we made the wrong choice. (Tomorrow we made up for it) Outside seating is available. The dining room is beautiful with a full wall wine rack. We made a reservation for 7pm, and were seated at 8:15pm. Not only was the restaurant super busy, but they were clearly overworking their team. Countless mistakes, food was an hour late and cold. Multiple team members stated to our table when asked by us that they weren't allowed breaks during a 9+ hour shift. The manager was so incredibly rude to the table next to us, and I overheard the managers yelling at their staff, making them cry. He was snapping at them and giving the staff so much passive aggression and disrespect. If any higher up at Joey was there, they would have fired this management on the spot. I'm just so disappointed and will never return to Joey Burrard. I encourage anyone to never go here and support this horrible management. read more

Going to Joey's is pretty fun during the summer! They have outside seating so it was really nice to just be outside and enjoy fresh air. We got a round of cocktails and tried the steak frites to share. I LOVED the flavour of the savory sauce! The meat was perfectly cooked, seasoned well, and juicy. In spite of some high maintenance guests, I will say that the hostess and the wait staff are friendly, professional and efficient throughout. I had a limited time for dinner and the staff was very accommodating. I ordered the Stanley Park Waypoint beer and the Butcher's Sandwich. The beer was good. The sandwich was okay, and nothing was wrong, but it was on the bland side. Perhaps better spices or more meat or adding a flavorful cheese would have helped.
