Stopped by for an evening meal's n the outside patio. Ordered a Red Sangria that was exceptional for a pre-meal cocktail. Up next was the Katsu Chicken salad that will rock your world and taste buds. So much flavor packed onto one plate it's a culinary wonder of the world. Everything bite simply delivered an abundance of flavors and happiness. Katsu chicken portion of salad was breaded perfectly and thinly sliced so it won't over power the salad itself. Ok, now the downer of my meal. The steak was supposed to be cooked medium and it wasn't. Not a real quality tasting steak and the shrimp was nasty so after eating once piece I piled to the side for non consumption. I prayed I would not get ill and die from eating nasty shrimp. Yes I avoided the death penalty phase of my meal and survived to write my tail. Now minor complaint was no salt & pepper on table. No steak sauce offered so should I have wanted to drown out the low quality of steak taste with some A1 sauce I could have. Service exceeded expectations and server was very charming. The quality of steak was not his fault. I'd come back for salad any day but would avoid steak at all costs..

Hummus

I really enjoy the diverse menu at Joey. There's something for everyone. There's another Joey just a few blocks down Burrard. I like the ambience of that one slightly more, but otherwise they are very similar. Service at both is excellent. Appreciate the complementary sparkling wine at check in. This time we had the Gyoza and the Hummus as starters. Both were good. I'd definitely have the hummus again. It was served with tzatziki, olives, currants, and lots of crispy fried pita. The Farmer's Salad was wonderful. A great mix of fruit, lettuce, veggies, and champagne vinaigrette. The Chili chicken was okay. I loved the crisp wontons, but the chicken could have been a lot spicier. Nice wine list, especially by the bottle.

Blackened chicken, potato salad, mashed potatoes.

I don't give out very many 5-star reviews, but this was very, VERY close. I literally went to a high dollar steak and seafood joint the night before (just a block over) and this place blew that place out of the water. Service was a little slow; we waited a tad too long before our server came over after sitting, and it took a tad too long to get checked out. The spotty service is the only reason it's not a 5-star review. What a wonderful alfresco dining joint. We opted to sit outside; it was a tad cool, but it turned out great! I had the blackened chicken, which was one of the moistest, most flavorful chicken dishes I've ever had. The potato salad was different than what I'm used to, but excellent nonetheless. Same for the mashed potatoes. My wife had the cod, which I took a few bites of and can confirm ...that, too, was better than the fish she had at the high dollar joint the previous night. Flavorful and moist. Just glistening. We only have two more nights in town...and I'll be hard pressed to not go back before we leave.

Udon with chicken katsu

We are here yesterday and were so happy we chose it. Our server (his name was Brent I think) was great! He went up and above. The food was epic! I had the udon with katsu chicken and I would order that every time. The atmosphere is great too but still very accommodating to our young children. 10/10! Go!

This is a pretty mixed review. On the plus side the restaurant has a lovely ambiance with lots of outdoor tables with heaters. The service is also very good. They messed up our order but did their best to remedy the errors. The issue is that the food is really just ok. We had the steak frites. overall it was adequate but absolutely nothing special. I've had lots of better steak frites elsewhere. Overall it was ok. I doubt would go back. The free welcome sparkling wine was quite nice though.

Our server Izzy was welcoming and made sure that we had the steak cooked as requested. I had mine on medium well and there definitely is a difference from my friends' medium rare. I love the greens that comes with the steak frites. It's a great combination with the steak. The fries are crispy and quite evenly long. The only downside is the lack of good sauce to make it more memorable. I reserved the place for five and we had a good seating area although it was still a bit loud at some point. Overall, this is a great place offering good quality of food with great service and plenty of space to catch up with friends.

Tuna poke salad, crispy mash, fries, and crispy chicken bites

Was staying at the Sutton hotel and after our comedy show, decided to go Joey's for late night Happy Hour. We ordered a beer, fries, crispy chicken bites, tuna poke bowl, and crispy mash. The restaurant was really warm inside and we guzzled down our water quickly. Our food arrived in a decent time but our waters were not refilled until over half way through the meal. Food was solid, especially the crispy mash. Unfortunately, the crispy chicken bites were a bit soggy and the sauce was meh. We got a half order of the creme brulee cheesecake to go and it was quite good! Pro tip: There's affordable parking at 800 Burrard Street, same block as Joey's. Afternoon or Evening weekend rates are a flat $8, pretty great for prime DT shopping and restaurant area.

A nice Pinot

Just down the street from our hotel and reviews looked good. Yelp was not wrong. Go Yelp. We had never heard of Joey as it is not in our area but now we wish it was! There is another location down the street on the other side. We didn't get to try it this time. We chose four apps as a dinner. Good way to try a new spot. We done good. Miso roasted mushrooms, spicy chicken wings, spicy crab dip with toast and Japanese gyoza were all excellent. Great for sharing and not so much that we had leftovers to take back to a hotel without a fridge. A glass of Pinot and a Guinness zero topped off a nice evening. The maitre'd was spunky and so helpful. She explained that the dining room and bar each served the full menu. We chose the quieter side tonight. But when we heard GOAL! from the bar maybe we made the wrong choice. (Tomorrow we made up for it) Outside seating is available. The dining room is beautiful with a full wall wine rack. It was easy to have a conversation on this side. Our server was not just an order taker. He helped with suggestions and advice. Overall a fantastic experience. Up your game, visit Joey Burrard.

Came here with a large group (16 people)! They fully accommodated us. The meal was great, service was wonderful and they gave us free champagne while we waited for our table.

We came here for a mid-week dinner while visiting Vancouver. The restaurant itself is very sleek and beautiful. Our server was very friendly but unfortunately not very attentive. The food was good, but not outstanding. I got the salmon - it was good but a bit on the salty side. The mashed potatoes and peas did complement the dish well though. My partner got the Joey Classic Steak and said it was great. We split the molten chocolate cake - it was just ok - a bit on the small side and underwhelming.

An AMAZING place for dinner. We were a group of 6 that came in late to our reservation on a busy night and they still managed to seat us quickly. They cared for allergies and were attentive throughout the night. The food was amazing, we ordered a variety of things and loved it all. The atmosphere and location is perfect.

Going to Joey's is pretty fun during the summer! They have outside seating so it was really nice to just be outside and enjoy fresh air. We got a round of cocktails and tried the steak frites to share. I LOVED the flavour of the savory sauce! The meat was perfectly cooked, seasoned well, and juicy. I'm a huge texture person so I enjoyed the the crunch of the bread too. It was summer time so I think they were really busy and it took a while for us to grab our bill. I understand though, things happen!

We got a table inside, and the music was extremely loud (think club vibes). The music was amazing, but for the wrong setting. Our group ended up texting one another as we couldn't hear ourselves. Their food was really good, truffle fries are quite rich and flavourful, same with the beef carpaccio. I don't think the menu mentions it comes with these sliced toasted baguettes which were topped with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Service was slightly disappointing as our service was quite flat. Two instances, both not the fault of our server, but the bar had a friend a drink in a dirty glass, she ordered a clear drink but it was brown tinged, and had a weird flavour. Multiple people at the table tried it before we told the server that it seemed off. It was slightly off putting, but our server went back and got a new one for my friend. Second thing, they said they updated their POS so for some reason the person who had the most alcoholic drinks had been put in with a really high autogratuity, but it was strange because everyone else at the party had the regular autograt of 20% I believe and the only person who was drunk ended up getting 30% or something of the sort. Our server again, amazing and took care of it working with the manager who fixed it and came to apologize but the optics of that only happening to the one drunk person if the party, well you know. Kinda left an unsatisfactory taste in everyone's mouths regarding the service. Food was still great and so was our server, and the manager who came to personally apologize about the issue.

Everything on the HH menu is $5 3-6pm and all day Wednesday. We also got the meatball appetizer and the Baccala on toast. Bartender was friendly enough, gave some recommendations where to go for dinner. But then a very large party was being seated at the adjacent restaurant that the bar seems to also serve, and she got tied up pretty bad. We did see a couple come in and wait for a pretty long time and then just take off. And then the bar was closed for this private party at 7pm, and we had sort of planned on a nightcap after dinner in there. Fortunately we found PLENTY of awesome places to go after dinner so it was not an issue. While there during Happy Hour, the crowd was empty at first and the place filled up completely by the time we left. 30's and 40's crowd.

If you're looking for a comfortable, quiet, and cosy bar this is not the place for you. This is a place where Vancouverites get dressed up in their finest dark washed jeans. Am I being facetious - yes I am...but lets face it that's what passes for high fashion in this city. Celebrity sightings are not totally uncommon here, the servers are all friendly and quick to bring your drinks, and you're guaranteed plenty of beautiful people eye-candy. It's also a bar targeting a slightly more mature age group with their larger disposable income - so no annoying teeny boppers knocking back B-52's here and whoohooing it up. One shocking thing I discovered on my last visit to OPUS Bar, was that they aren't allowed to do "real" bottle service there. So if you order a bottle of Goose for the table, be prepared to have your server take it away and bring it back out only when requested or when glasses start to go empty - thankfully Champagne & Wine are exempt from this strange rule.
