Food 3.5 Service 4 Ambiance 3.5 Fish and chips are normal. The batter is a lot bigger than the fish itself and the portion of fries is very generous. The butter chicken is rich. The one naan bread looks very oily and sad. Attentive service. Love the high ceiling that creates the feeling of expansiveness.

FOOD - Poutine: fries topped with curds, gravy, and herbs. The portion was huge. It was good at first but it quickly got too much for me. 3.5/5 - Chicken Wings: 6 pieces of wings. We chose soy ginger and salt & pepper. Both were good. The wings were meaty and tender. 4/5 SERVICE: We got in really late and were happy they served late night dinner. The server was very nice and welcoming. 5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: Food and service were good. Prices were a little steep but that's typical of hotel restaurants.

We visited the restaurant for dinner and breakfast when we were staying at the hotel. Food was good and the staff were friendly. There is lots of seating, so there is usually no wait time. In the mornings, they have a great brunch buffet which we enjoyed. It is reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in downtown. The 5 star rating is mainly for their brunch buffet.

DOVF - Tiramisu cake and house sorbetto

Made a dinner reservation for dineout and boy did this place impress! For their $49 dineout menu, I ordered the burrata and beet appy, rigatoni semolina pasta, and the bailey's tiramisu, and they provided us fresh bread and butter to start. The appetizer was amazing and each element enhanced the dish in a different way. The rigatoni was delicious as well, and every element of the dish was done to perfection (especially the fried mushrooms which tasted almost like ebi tempura despite it being a vegetarian dish! Mind blown.) The tiramisu for dessert wasn't exactly a true tiramisu, definitely more like a cake with tiramisu flavour but it was unique and tasty nonetheless. My partner ordered the other options for dineout - beef carpaccio, lamb rack and house sorbetto. Each of these were delicious as well. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the sorbetto includes three different flavours (mango, strawberry and raspberry), I would recommend it if you want a lighter end to your meal. Service was great. The staff was friendly and happy to accommodate any food allergies or preferences. The restaurant is attached to a hotel and my only gripe would be that the bathrooms are a bit far away, though super spacious and clean. Also weird thing to note but I loved their water glasses! Showcase is seriously underrated and a bit of a hidden gem in the downtown Vancouver area, and I can definitely see myself coming back here soon.

We ate at Showcase restaurant on Christmas Eve after our other plans fell through. This restaurant is located inside the Marriott Hotel. They were full in the dining room and were not accepting any more reservations for the evening. We were grateful they were still accepting walk-ins at the bar. They had a very limited menu. The food was just something simple to get us through the night. With it being the Eve of Christmas. Most places closed early or you had to have a reservation to dine. I ordered: The grilled chicken Caesar salad with bacon. They forgot the bacon, and after 3 bites, I realized something was missing. Then, they made it right by bringing out a small cup of bacon. That assisted with the overall taste. The other order was a flatbread with sausage, chicken, spinach, cheese, and pickled red onions. The service was good, but not great. The food was average and not outstanding. I have had both items elsewhere, so I know the difference.

Stopped by Showcase for lunch while in Vancouver. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:45 - they had about 15 minutes left on their breakfast buffet. They seated us, and got us drinks while we waited for the menu to switch over to lunch. The hostess was incredibly kind and friendly - even offering to fill our water bottles for us. We ended up order poutine and the warm scallop and prawn salad. Everything was delish! The poutine is a LARGE portion - great for sharing and the warm salad provided some nutrition for our meal. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

Overall a pretty good experience! We went for happy hour on a week day and it was decently busy. We ordered the flatbread ($15), the calamari $15) and the draft beer ($8) off the Happy Hour menu. It's about $2-3 less than the regular menu. Everything tasted good but we feel that the food could've been slightly hotter. We also got the West Coast fish & chips ($28) off the regular menu and it was pretty good too! This dish came out hot and felt more freshly made. We love the high ceilings and the natural light because of the big windows. The service was nice but not overly attentive as we didn't get any water refills. It wasn't a huge deal to us though!

What a breath of fresh air! This trendy Gem is located inside the Marriott Pinnacle Harbor Hotel. Awesome BAR area with attentive staff: Alvin in particular was friendly and engaging. I decided to try the Soy Ginger with Spicy Mayo Chicken Wings.. Wow! Beyond belief! I'm a real stickler for good Wings.. These wings were easily in my TOP 5 Category. Right up there with the original Buffalo Chicken Wing Recipe from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo NY My wife raved about the Crab Cakes... Oh yeah, HUGE TV's EVERYWHERE! Sports galore on the TV's all day and night! We shall return!

The restaurant have a very good location. Easily accessible from outside as it is for hotel guests. Situated inside hotel Mariot already set a bar of excellence for you and so it is maintained well. Food is good and drinks selection is good especially because they are served in specific glassware for Christmas. Couldn't eat a lot of food but two things tried were good.

Excellent location, great restaurant and yummy food. During our stay in Vancouver, we dined in this restaurant two times. The first time is their holiday special, the Christmas Day brunch and the other is a regular dinner. Both are extraordinarily good. The Christmas Day brunch is very popular. Make sure you make reservation well in advance. We saw a LOT of people for turn away that morning. The food was fresh with a lot of variety (compare with similar level of restaurants in Vancouver, please do not expect the same level as buffet in HK hotel). With raw oyster, sushi, cold seafood, typical brunch food, craving station. Dessert is exceptional. They made the dessert so festive and I end up getting one of everything. The raw oysters are small, but still pretty fresh and tasty. As of the regular dinner, their menu is not huge, but the cooking is still pretty well. We dined with a large party and everyone get different entree and dessert. Everyone was very satisfied with the quality of food that they are served. The whole setup is the restaurant is festive and cozy. The servers are all pleasant and nice. A definitely good choice for dining in downtown Vancouver.

Mixed Baby Green Salad - highly recommend it.

Ate hear several times during the week once for dinner, twice for lunch including their Christmas lunch buffet as well as the Breakfast Buffet. Food was fantastic and service was just as great with a shout out to Lily, Noel and Dwayne who served me during my five night stay here. I used to think the Feenie Smash burger at Cactus Club was great but whoever made my Smash-burger here was definitely a cut above the Cactus Clubs. Components were nicely put together which made for a great taste! I also highly recommend the house salad which I had for dinner one night. Will definitely try to stay here the next time but if not, will stop by for that burger and salad.

Showcase Restaurant Sunday Date Night Dinner Special This is a 3-course shared menu offered on Sunday nights and it's $49 per person. They also offer 50% off select wines. To be honest, $49 is totally worth the quality and amount of food you get. As a bonus, they had live music. If I had to rank the 3 courses I would say that my favourite was the appetizer, then dessert, then the main course. They are located in the heart of downtown and less than a 5-minute walk from the Olympic Cauldron. After dinner we decided to go for a walk by the water, I'd highly recommend you do the same. Make sure to book your next date night for this Sunday with them. The bar seemed cool and the live music was located right beside the bar. It definitely seemed like a great place to go for a couple of drinks with a friend or colleague.

We stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle and got in late after a grueling day of flying. No tables free, so we sat at the bar. Bartender couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. He got us drinks and food fast and we were able to finally relax. We were so surprised by the quality of the food. Weren't expecting much from a hotel bar, but everything we had was scrumptious. We had the artisan bread with herbed honey butter, salmon tacos and a Flatbread. The tacos were to die for

We were STUFFED, for the price you're paying the portions are very fair and quality you can't beat! I've had seafood in the Bay Area, Boston, and even across countries in Asia, but I was SO impressed by Blue Water Cafe. It is a MUST if you're in Vancouver. Everything was honestly a 5/5, the only dish I would pass on is the Yellowtail, I just wasn't a fan of how much it was wavering between raw and cooked fish, along with the char. It's just not for me, but my parents enjoyed it. Nevertheless, some of the highlights was the sablefish, oh my gosh melt in your mouth. Sablefish is Vancouver locally caught, so very fresh and it has a sweet undertone with the soy and sake marinade. This was my favorite along with the Seafood Tasting for Two, which features scallop ceviche, Dungeness crab salad, albacore tuna tartare, and smoked sockeye salmon terrine. You get a diversity of fishes and flavors, which is most certainly worth the price point. It's the gems of the appetizers put into 1 order. Halibut was also noted to be locally caught, the slices were thin and a perfect app. Hamachi Kama is yellowtail collar, which has a rich, succulent meat. It tasted buttery and was also melt in the mouth. The Dutch Mule was a ginger ale with sorbet. Absolutely delicious mocktail, I held back on ordering a second. The service was also amazing!!! Our waitress welcomed us warmly to Vancouver and even gave us a complimentary dessert to welcome us to the area, even giving us tips where to go near the area and what sights to see in Vancouver.

From the gold railings to coat check to a piano on the stairs to an old school oyster bar showcasing their wares proudly on display, Joe Fortes has a lot going on for it. But perhaps more so than anything else is an amazing happy hour for anyone who loves oysters. Service Before diving into the food let's talk about service. The servers here are dressed in the old full whites with black ties and give you full service. They have an expert knowledge of the menu and are willing to give you any and all opinions if asked. They check on you frequently and make sure you're having a good time with enough banter to make it friendly and welcomed. Happy Hour - Alcohol With that out of the way, we can talk about the happy hour. Yes, they have a great deal when it comes to their house red and white wines where you can get 6 oz for $6 CAD or 9 oz for $9 CAD. Their beers range from $5 CAD to $8 CAD and their cocktails are all under $10 CAD. Happy Hour - Food They have some incredible truffle fries, cut thick and sprinkled with parmesan as delicate as snow for $9 CAD. Their crab & corn fritters are slightly chewy but packed with flavor and come at $12 CAD. The coconut prawns sound just as delicious as they taste and come at $13 CAD. I would avoid the Steelhead ceviche though as it was more mashed avocado than ceviche. However, HOWEVER, the star of the show are their oysters. Coming at $1.75 an oyster, you get to be as gluttonous as you'd like whilst keeping your pockets happy. Vancouver is known for their amazing seafood and with this happy hour from 3 PM - 5 PM it gives you 2 hours to fill your belly with as many oysters as you can. Even if you ordered 50 oysters you would be under $90 CAD. I should know, I did that. Last Thoughts Even without the incredible happy hour Joe Fortes would be a restaurant you have to visit during your trip to Vancouver. With a great selection of food on their menu, wait staff that feel old world and professional, and a setting fit for the city, the happy hour is just the bonus that makes visiting Joe Fortes even more enticing. Come with an appetite, leave with a smile.

I enjoyed a premium sake flight (which was fine...just fine), an old fashioned served with the perfect accompanying dark chocolate, and a good amount of sushi including their signature aburi style sushi in flight form and nigiri tuna flight (bluefin, chutoro, otoro). After visiting Japan last December, I'm a bit of an otoro snob but I have to hand it to them, all three of these cuts were perfect. The accompanying rice, perfection. The quality of the fish, divine. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. The escargot was not what I was expecting as I only ever had it before in French restaurants where it is served basically in a ball shape covered with butter and garlic, the escargot here were very small and you had to get it out of the shell with a toothpick. After researching snail, I understand there are three different types of snail you can eat. This one is much different than the one if find in French restaurants, but I am glad I was adventurous and tried it. The Periwinkles I liked more than the snail however these were even harder to get out of the shell and you have to really stab and twirl to even have a chance of getting them out of the shell. We probably left over half in the shell. Pro-Tip : Get the jade conch! They gave me two complimentary as they knew I really wanted to try it and not have to order three entrees and a main entree to try everything I came here for. Thank you very much Shellfish Shack, as I loved the Jade Conch and would definitely get this again in the future. The conch were very large and came out of the shell fairly easily. They had two distinct flavors as you reached the bottom of the jade conch, they were more succulent and flavorful, the top portion of the jade conch was a bit spongier and chewier, but I liked these by far much greater than the snail and periwinkles. The girlfriend got the scallops, and they tasted sweet and delicious. Now if you're not sold yet on the place they have a fun game you get to play with the purchase of any beer. You crack off the cap on a pinko looking board and if the cap lands into one of the slots you can get free oysters or other free goodies. I ended up getting two tsing-tao beers but got the try again maybe next time slot both times : ) Great different experience, highly recommend! As always people SYOY!!!
