This is a very nice lobby restaurant and bar in the Marriott. It's very open and bright with windows all around. Great for people watching as they pass by on the sidewalk. The bartenders are excellent and the wait staff is as well. They actually have Old Fashioned's on tap of all things. The bartenders make them by the gallons daily with Makers Mark. I had a taste and they are very good. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. I had soup and salad for lunch and was stuffed. The portions are huge. The pictures don't do it justice. I happened to be here on my birthday and the bartender brought a huge piece of birthday cake that I normally would never have but it looked so amazing that I just had to have a few bites. Made a dinner reservation for dineout and boy did this place impress! For their $49 dineout menu, I ordered the burrata and beet appy, rigatoni semolina pasta, and the bailey's tiramisu, and they provided us fresh bread and butter to start. The appetizer was amazing and each element enhanced the dish in a different way. The rigatoni was delicious as well, and every element of the dish was done to perfection (especially the fried mushrooms which tasted almost like ebi tempura despite it being a vegetarian dish! Mind blown.) The tiramisu for dessert wasn't exactly a true tiramisu, definitely more like a cake with tiramisu flavour but it was unique and tasty nonetheless. My partner ordered the other options for dineout - beef carpaccio, lamb rack and house sorbetto. Each of these were delicious as well. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the sorbetto includes three different flavours (mango, strawberry and raspberry), I would recommend it if you want a lighter end to your meal. Service was great. The staff was friendly and happy to accommodate any food allergies or preferences. The restaurant is attached to a hotel and my only gripe would be that the bathrooms are a bit far away, though super spacious and clean. Also weird thing to note but I loved their water glasses! Showcase is seriously underrated and a bit of a hidden gem in the downtown Vancouver area, and I can definitely see myself coming back here soon. read more

They were full in the dining room and were not accepting any more reservations for the evening. We were grateful they were still accepting walk-ins at the bar. They had a very limited menu. The food was just something simple to get us through the night. With it being the Eve of Christmas. Most places closed early or you had to have a reservation to dine. I ordered: The grilled chicken Caesar salad with bacon. They forgot the bacon, and after 3 bites, I realized something was missing. Then, they made it right by bringing out a small cup of bacon. That assisted with the overall taste. The other order was a flatbread with sausage, chicken, spinach, cheese, and pickled red onions. The service was good, but not great. Stopped by Showcase for lunch while in Vancouver. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:45 - they had about 15 minutes left on their breakfast buffet. They seated us, and got us drinks while we waited for the menu to switch over to lunch. The hostess was incredibly kind and friendly - even offering to fill our water bottles for us. We ended up order poutine and the warm scallop and prawn salad. Everything was delish! The poutine is a LARGE portion - great for sharing and the warm salad provided some nutrition for our meal. Overall a pretty good experience! We went for happy hour on a week day and it was decently busy. We ordered the flatbread ($15), the calamari $15) and the draft beer ($8) off the Happy Hour menu. It's about $2-3 less than the regular menu. Everything tasted good but we feel that the food could've been slightly hotter. We also got the West Coast fish & chips ($28) off the regular menu and it was pretty good too! This dish came out hot and felt more freshly made. We love the high ceilings and the natural light because of the big windows. The service was nice but not overly attentive as we didn't get any water refills. We were here for a conference so popped in for breakfast- they do offer a breakfast buffet with lots of options and an omelette station but we decided to go a la carte. The service is quite slow (although maybe due to the conference). Our server seemed to be really good and telling us he was there and if we needed anything etc etc but was never actually available when we needed something so we ended up flagging down other servers for things we needed (water, etc). The first time is their holiday special, the Christmas Day brunch and the other is a regular dinner. Both are extraordinarily good. The Christmas Day brunch is very popular. Make sure you make reservation well in advance. We saw a LOT of people for turn away that morning. The food was fresh with a lot of variety (compare with similar level of restaurants in Vancouver, please do not expect the same level as buffet in HK hotel). With raw oyster, sushi, cold seafood, typical brunch food, craving station. Dessert is exceptional. They made the dessert so festive and I end up getting one of everything. The raw oysters are small, but still pretty fresh and tasty. As of the regular dinner, their menu is not huge, but the cooking is still pretty well. We dined with a large party and everyone get different entree and dessert. Everyone was very satisfied with the quality of food that they are served. Ate hear several times during the week once for dinner, twice for lunch including their Christmas lunch buffet as well as the Breakfast Buffet. Food was fantastic and service was just as great with a shout out to Lily, Noel and Dwayne who served me during my five night stay here. I used to think the Feenie Smash burger at Cactus Club was great but whoever made my Smash-burger here was definitely a cut above the Cactus Clubs. Components were nicely put together which made for a great taste! I also highly recommend the house salad which I had for dinner one night. Showcase Restaurant Sunday Date Night Dinner Special This is a 3-course shared menu offered on Sunday nights and it's $49 per person. They also offer 50% off select wines. To be honest, $49 is totally worth the quality and amount of food you get. As a bonus, they had live music. If I had to rank the 3 courses I would say that my favourite was the appetizer, then dessert, then the main course. They are located in the heart of downtown and less than a 5-minute walk from the Olympic Cauldron. After dinner we decided to go for a walk by the water, I'd highly recommend you do the same. I love the floor to ceiling windows. I usually see people that look like business people sitting here around breakfast time. So I've gone in here for breakfast a couple of times. Their food is actually really good and they have a buffet in the mornings for $29. Came here for the first time tonight for dinner with 2 other friends and was pleasantly surprised with their relaxing and roomy atmosphere and delicious food. Our waitress informed us of their 6 item tasting menu which is a good amount of food for 2 people so we ordered 2 of the tasting menus and also added 2 Medium dishes (ricotta gnocchi and crispy Korean fried chicken) from the dinner menu. For the drink, I had the Russian Mule and it was pretty tasty! I really enjoyed the tasting menu. See the photo for the menu items, but my favourites items were the house-made sourdough with whipped butter and honey (so simple but so delicious), roasted acorn squash and the hot chocolate baked Alaska. The Korean fried chicken was a disappointed as the chicken pieces were small and not that crispy but the ricotta gnocchi was so good with the miso cream sauce and roasted onions. This year showcase went at it again with their 7 creative drinks - this year you can grab one of their drink passports and come on a journey with me to explore all 7 drinks. * Bedouins Oasis ($21) ~ This was probably my favorite one, it was sweet and fruity with the citrus, and not to mention its stunning. My favorite part is that its made with butterfly pea flavor infused grey goose vodka. It made the cocktail taste so much more elegant. 10/10. (strong too). * Royal Mango Lassi ($21) ~ dangerous. There's a lot of liquor in it, but you can barely taste it, as its masked by the delicious blend of mangoes, and yogurt. Spiced rum pairs so well with this drink. 9.5/10. * Great Wall-tini ($19) ~ this is on the sweeter side but its still strong, the lychee is prominent and reminds of me lychee candy. The ketel one vodka is prominent and pairs well with the lemon juice. 9/10. * Sun Gate Sour ($18) ~ this is definitely not on the sweet side, but rather on sour for sure, the pisco paired well with the egg whites. I do with there was more simple syrup to pair with the lime juice. 6/10. * Gladiators Negroni ($19) ~ the orange bitters and blood orange juice paired super well with the blend of Campari. It was strong and fragrant with the blood orange. 8/10. * Mayan Mocha ($21) ~ smokey, and beautiful this is similar to an espresso martini and had a good amount of coffee and mocha. 7/10. * The Divine Caipirinha ($18) ~ this was unique the refreshing and citrus cocktail is nice, and not too sweet. TLDR: overpriced and poor value We came for an early dinner, ordered off the happy hour menu and it was still overpriced given the quality. Overall the food gave 'reheated 7-11 leftovers' vibes. The flatbread was clearly a grocery store crust and the cheese was certainly not buffalo mozzarella. The burger had no bacon - even though it was in the description- and was burnt and overcooked. The bun was also stale and dry. The French fries were pretty good. We also ordered the chicken wings which weren't bad but nothing special. My toddlers mac and cheese (from the kids menu) was definitely box Kraft. She never received a milk/juice even though that was part of the kids meal we paid for. The waiter was very nice and the presentation was fine. However given the prices I would expect a little bit more quality. Or at least change the menu description to make it accurate. read more

This review is only for the bar. I've been here many times and the service is often slow but yesterday it was unacceptable for a bar of this quality. It was not very busy but the bartender (who I recognized from previous visits) seemed overwhelmed. I watched him move receipts and glasses behind the bar around as multiple customers were sitting without menus or even being greeted. I decided to just wait it out and see how long it took to be recognized. Over :10 Forgot my order (twice) and apologized every time he came to us with drinks/appetizers. The food is good and the drinks well made, otherwise the rating would be much lower. I hope they get their act together as I know I'll be back at some point.... We tried the sister hotels cafe a few days ago, and we were horribly disappointed, we figured with all of the positive reviews this place would make up for the craptastic food we had at the wall centre. I ordered the prime rib, and it is served cut up and defined needs salt and pepper. I didn't remember reading that it would be cut up, but it was and it was over cooked. Do not order the sweet tea, it is not made properly and for $6 you will get the wrong tea, wrong sugar, and watered down taste. For those of you who question my sweet tea expertise, I did go to culinary school in New Orleans, and this was one of the items that was drilled into our heads on how to make properly. The service is nothing to write home about, and for a hotel that is troubling. But since Covid who has really given great service? We also ordered the kids Mac n cheese and much to our surprise we were served Kraft dinner mac n cheese. I have tried the Mushroom Soup, Mac & Cheese, the Burger, Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup, and Chicken Wings here. To my understanding, the soup is made from scratch in-house. While the Mac + Cheese is a "starter", it is definitely filling as per the photo below. It is a up-scale take on an all time favourite dish. It does taste good for Mac + Cheese. The portion of the soup is generous also. The Mushroom Soup did not have large chucks of mushrooms in it. The flavour was wonderful - this is coming from someone who doesn't like mushrooms! So one of the best mushroom soups I have had. Both of these dishes are meals in their own right because of their generous portions. If you're not feeling too hungry, they're a great go-to. The West Coast Chowder isn't a bad choice either if you're not too hungry. It's hearty and the kitchen does take its time to make it for you. As for the Burger, it's a burger. It's a standard bacon and cheddar burger. As for the Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup, it is greasy good but it pairs up with tomato soup pretty well. The tanginess of the tomato soup helps neutralize the greasiness of the grilled cheese. To prevent a greasy pit feeling in your stomach, I wish they had some fresh veggies along with it though. This restaurant is surprisingly likable, but at the same time unassuming. They cater to their hotel guests and the nearby office workers well. This place is my workplace's "other" office as many people from our office can be found here when they're not at the office. read more
