If you love raw marinated seafood, you've got to check this place out. If you love seafood in general, check it out, too! Everything we had was delicious and the server/hostess was so helpful and nice. The crab roe noodles were a bit heavy and portion was pretty big but nonetheless, delicious! I would come back to try all the other raw marinated items!

When you dine here, for me at least, it's like entering the Willy Wonka of Food Paradise. I specifically came here to try the gooey duck. An extremely large prehistoric claim that you need special mining tools to get to and is only available on the west coast. The Gooey Duck tasted like a soft clam. Not too chewy, and full of crisp flavor. I also was lucky enough to come during happy hour, so I tried the periwinkles and escargot for fifth-teen dollars each. The escargot was not what I was expecting as I only ever had it before in French restaurants where it is served basically in a ball shape covered with butter and garlic, the escargot here were very small and you had to get it out of the shell with a toothpick. After researching snail, I understand there are three different types of snail you can eat. This one is much different than the one if find in French restaurants, but I am glad I was adventurous and tried it. The Periwinkles I liked more than the snail however these were even harder to get out of the shell and you have to really stab and twirl to even have a chance of getting them out of the shell. We probably left over half in the shell. Pro-Tip : Get the jade conch! They gave me two complimentary as they knew I really wanted to try it and not have to order three entrees and a main entree to try everything I came here for. Thank you very much Shellfish Shack, as I loved the Jade Conch and would definitely get this again in the future. The conch were very large and came out of the shell fairly easily. They had two distinct flavors as you reached the bottom of the jade conch, they were more succulent and flavorful, the top portion of the jade conch was a bit spongier and chewier, but I liked these by far much greater than the snail and periwinkles. The girlfriend got the scallops, and they tasted sweet and delicious. Now if you're not sold yet on the place they have a fun game you get to play with the purchase of any beer. You crack off the cap on a pinko looking board and if the cap lands into one of the slots you can get free oysters or other free goodies. I ended up getting two tsing-tao beers but got the try again maybe next time slot both times : ) Great different experience, highly recommend! As always people SYOY!!!

Food: The food here are delicious, it has a lot of taste - even the sauce alone was good enough that you can just eat with the rice. Service: The lady who served us was extremely nice, she was trying her best to give us recommendations & kept on asking if we needed anything. Ambiance: It is like any small fast-food restaurants, the seatings were older & not as new as other places. The seatings were a little tight so beware if you have a big party. I think it's better if you just to-go the food and eat at home if you have a big group. Parking: Parking is limited - there are reserved parking for other restaurants so be-careful when you park. There is a Towing Sign -- I'm not sure if they actually enforced it or not but I just parked at a reserved location and didn't get towed (luckily - do not risk if you are afraid of getting your car tow... I might have gotten lucky because it was raining that day ?...) Wait Time: None - since we came on a rainy weekday around 2pm?? Maybe that played a factor but we got served right away!

Food is a tad on the pricier side and service can be slow depending on how busy it is. But given that I can't cook Chinese style seafood, I would gladly pay to eat here.

We're not local here and came for a food excursion. We love all the dishes we ordered. The best part were the sauce, different kind of sauce for each of the fish we had. Looking forward to coming back to try other dishes.

I should have known when there aren't any prices on the menu that I should not succumb to sticker shock when I received the bill. True, I was expecting the worst but even then I was sticker shocked. One beer, one bowl of rice and 3 dishes set the 2 of us back a hundred and fifty bucks. The food was pretty good, the $48 small dish of cockles was excellent and presented without that gob of mud you usually find in the corner of the shell. Frankly it's understandable that they need to charge that much when what they serve you can't be found at any price locally. Short of getting on a plane and flying back to South East Asia you'll never find these items on any local menu. What I'm afraid of is that their prices won't allow them to be too successful because once in a long while I do get the urge for their specialities and they're the only game in town and I'd rather have them around than not have any choice at all. Service was great but I sure wish they could serve you your hot rice in a proper bowl instead of a flimsy take out plastic tub.

Was in town for a few days and found this little gem. We got there 30 minutes before they opened and they allowed us in. Food was delicious and service was great. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for some seafood to hit the spot.

Close to the airport. Easy parking. Five star food. Friendly advice from the owner when ordering. Try the local oysters! Conch snails are in a delicious broth.

Was craving some seafood for dinner and came across this place. There's only two tables to dine in and we got super lucky we were able to dine in on a Saturday night since I'm not from the area. Everything was spectacular! The service and the food was great. We got the local oysters, crawfish, and the creamy uni pasta. The crawfish had a tongue numbing spice that I wasn't expecting but I really like. The oysters were fresh and the uni pasta had great flavors. Would definitely come back again and try the other stuff on the menu when I'm in the area!

Excellent service we had here. I was surprised the restaurant was so tiny but I suppose that makes it a more intimate experience. It was just us at the restaurant and so the owner was extremely attentive. It was wifey's birthday so we decided to splurge on the seafood tower. Wow I've never had so fresh of seafood before, especially the dungeoness crab. Usually at the Chinese restaurants they overcook the crabs so the meat becomes too dry. Not here. It was cooked to just the right doneness. I love that this place is so different than your typical Chinese seafood restaurant.

Half a portion of the handcut noodle. They were considerate enough to put it in two bowls for my husband and I.

Lovely quaint little restaurant. We ordered the periwrinkle, areola escargot and their Tuesday oyster special ($1 per BC Miyagi oyster). We also ordered the handcut noodles for $5. I have to say, everything was GREAT! The oysters were fresh and creamy, the sauce for the periwrinkle is sharp and sweet. Noodles were cooked perfectly with an al dente texture. We dunked the noodles into the broth and it's just heavenly. It took us a while to finish all the shellfish, but we were holding our stomachs as we finished. A fantastic meal to end our visit in Richmond.

Small restaurant with seasonal seafood and a few classics. There are only 2 tables for dine in, but busy take out orders. We also had the drunken prawns which I didn't take picture, yummy also.

Spicy wine boil snail 辣酒煮花螺 is a popular dish in Asia but its very rare to find, and its actually my first time seeing it in Vancouver! Medium spice is recommended. Saltiness and the spiciness was at a perfect ratio. One order had roughly 20 pieces. Not a cheap dish, but definitely worth trying!

Lots of customers already seated on the patio. I can honestly say they take good of you at Troll's. More than one server came by quickly to see if we wanted coffee. We didn't, but I am sure those who are gasping for their morning Joe really appreciate the prompt service. Lots of options on the menu but we both chose the two-egg breakfast ($18) with choice of egg style; bacon, sausage or ham; potatoes; two slices of whole wheat or sourdough toast. Within a very few minutes our meals arrived, fresh and hot and exactly as we ordered them. Two fried eggs over easy, sourdough buttered toast, lovely cottage fried potatoes and 4 slices of bacon! It was delicious and plentiful and very much appreciated. I wish I'd asked our server her name because she did a lovely job. Welcoming, friendly, got our order right and made sure we had what we needed. The kind of waitress who actually seems to enjoy her job and her customers. I have been to Troll's many, many times over many years and never been disappointed. Food is always good, (fresh and hot), great fish and chips, friendly service, lovely views out to Horseshoe Bay. I am so glad Troll's is there to welcome us back home or see us off on our next adventure. Great job, Troll's!

Since the host ordered everything I don't quite remember everything we got. What we had was generally good, but also I thought to myself that each item was quite small, and hard to share evenly among the 7 people there. A number of guests were disappointed the restaurant only served beer and wine, and couldn't mix drinks. Service was good enough - friendly and interactive but nothing outstanding.
