One of our friend's sister-in-law recommended this place as they live in Seattle, WA so they would frequent Vancouver, BC as the drive is quite short. They said this dimsum place is one of their favorites and I can see why. The authenticity of the food seemed legit although they did not have the people pushing carts around the restaurant, the flavors were definitely on point. We had a group of 9 and we were seated almost immediately at around 11:30 AM on a Friday. The server asked us what tea we wanted and gave us a menu to pick from. As always we ordered with our eyes rather than our stomaches and had a bunch of leftovers. The shumai was insanely good, probably one of the best shumai's I've had as it was juicy, flavorful, and plump! One of our friends was talking to the server and apparently they use a similar method like xiao long bao and infuse the shumai with pork broth gelatin while steaming it which makes it flavorful and juicy! The other dishes were good too but nothing else really stood out in the savory section, but on the sweet side... if you like durian, their durian tarts was so tasty! Most of our group didn't partake but hey, more for me haha. The salted lava egg yolk buns were also top-tier and would recommend them. Overall, the food was good, service was great, and ambiance reminded me like any chinese banquet hall. 4/5

For Richmond, this is actually.....not super impressive. It's good I guess. Service was a bit inconsistent. They were slow to take our order. Also, a lot of them don't seem super friendly. I can definitely see how Canadians/Americans that only know English would feel like they're getting the cold shoulder. Lol. Veggies are good. Pea sprouts have a fresh and very balanced taste. Radish cakes - Huge and nice flavor. Sesame Taro cake thing - I don't think I've ever had this particular taro dish. I found it to be a tad dry. I almost wish there was like....a sauce or something for this. Fu zhu juan - Pretty good. Big and juicy. Full of flavor. Porridge - For once, I opted for the plain porridge. It was delectable. The ratio of rice to broth was ideal. The level of starchiness was also quite nice You tiao - Not as crispy as I would've liked. Otherwise fine. Another you tiao in a weird sushi style - I didn't order this. It's not bad, but I find it a bit much for the plain porridge imho. Feet - Good flavor and texture. But not the best I've had. Also.....are these a bit on the smaller end? Eggplant thing - Tastes normal I guess. Didn't find the taste super impressive. Fried shrimp eggroll thing - Texture is good, but I find the flavor too plain.

Family favorite was the ginger fried rice. The crab was well presented and yummy. Another dish that keeps us coming back is the free range chicken. This place is popular so be sure to call ahead to reserve. Very professional service that replaced dirty plates and towellettes promptly in addition to tea refills.

The line outside the restaurant started forming 45 minutes before opening time. Parking lot filled up quickly. Nice interior decor and they were maximizing space by setting a 90 minute limit for diners. Compared with all the dim sum restaurants we have come to enjoy in Richmond, the food was amazing! Freshly made, everything was hot and tasty, hardly used any sauces, there was just no need. Each of us had our favorites but there wasn't a dish we did not like. The only regret was that we wished we had a bigger group so we could eat more variety!!

As a huge dim sum lover, I have to say this place is phenomenal...everything tastes so delicious especially stir fry beef noodles, almost 100% replicating what I had back in Hongkong. The service is great as well while it is close to Airport.

A place of high quality dimsum and good service. The only thing we didn't like was the soy sauce chow mein because it had no flavor. The fluffy egg pastry is hard to find and it was very nostalgic. Durian tart was stinky and tasty.

This place offers mediocre dim sum. In terms of price, they are on the higher end. Also, their selection is limited compare to other restaurants of similar size (there is plenty of seating). The plate of vegetable I ordered even contained a piece of hair when it came out. They had to remake that. Service is fast and polite. Note that they charge for water.

Food is so tasty! I had the pork liver rice sheet and I had never tasted porker liver that tender and juicy in my life; in my mind I always remember it being dry but it was nothing like that. Also ordered rice sheet with Chinese donuts filled with shrimp paste - amazing. Service is good when you sit down. If the restaurant is full they can be passive aggressive and ignore you. But I don't really have a high expectation for services from Chinese restaurants anyways so that was okay. Like I said once you are seated, their service is decent enough.

Solid dim sum spot. Food was fresh, rice rolls were soft, and the fried items weren't greasy. Service was efficient and prices were reasonable for Richmond. Not amazing, but definitely worth coming back.

Server attitude is very bad. Some of the dishes is ok and some of the dishes is not tasty and weird. Finally they charge us three more dishes which we did not ordered by us, lucky part we check through the bill to found out this charge. Will never come back again.

Came in when they opened at 1030 and was able to get a table for my party of 11 without any problems. Their parking lot was a plus and parking was not an issue. They do share a parking lot with adjacent businesses so I can see this being an issue during peak hours. Service was good for the most part. They constantly cleared our table of empty dishes and refilled our tea and hot water. We ordered a lot of items and when we added items, the staff was helpful and courteous. Food quality and portion sizes were great! The shrimp and chives rice noodle dish was the only dish that was not so good. Texture was too chewy and noodles were too thick. Seating was comfortable and we were not overcrowded at our table. The restaurant was clean and they had plenty of tables and staff. A solid place for dim sum and lunch. Items ordered Har gow x2- the dumplings are big with plenty of shrimp and the skin was not too thick. Order came with 5 Shrimp, scallop, and asparagus dumpling x2- good balance of items and very tasty Abalone soup dumpling x2- Soup was delicious and it was packed with shrimp, dried scallops, and included a small abalone. Durian tart- another solid durian dish if u r a durian fan Durian pancake- oh my yummy durian! Loved the texture and durian! Pork spare ribs x2- flavorful and taste was good Pork and clam porridge- Loaded with plenty of large clams and pork! Chinese donut- good and not overdone or dry Clam and pork congee- large clams, plenty of lean pork, and consistency was perfect! Not too thick or runny. Shrimp & fish maw- large shrimp portions with fish maw Soy sauce chow mein- cooked with sprouts and scallions and well seasoned Chicken feet- a dim sum staple cooked and flavored well Bean curd rolls x2- Large rolls filled with plenty of meats. One of the best I have had! Egg tart- flaky crust and soft center, another good choice Steamed BBQ pork bun- good sized buns with bbq pork filling Steamed chicken bun- good sized buns with chicken filling Custard buns- I didn't try them but they looked good I asked for a side of hot sauce and their addition of curry to it really worked well. Must try!!

Yue Restaurant is famous for it's dim sum in Vancouver, but my family and I wasn't able to make it so we decided to try their dinner. We had a high expectation because we heard good reviews about the restaurant. However, we didn't enjoy our order. All dishes were really oily and extremely greasy! Steamed fish: we enjoy eating fishes. The fish itself has no problem, it is fresh and tender. However, the sauce was really sweet! We visited other canto restaurants, but never had such a sweetened fish dish. Grilled Lamb Chop: this was ordered for my parents, probably the only dish they enjoyed. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, it is tender and juicy. It is not salty, but one per person is greatly enough because it can get greasy and heavy. Seafood Vermicelli in Clay Pot: the shrimps and scallops are nice and big, but it comes with a large portion of vermicelli. Since it was stirred up with lots of oily, this is a super heavy and oily! Don't recommend this. Scrambled eggs with black cod: the eggs are nice and fluffy and the cod fish is fresh. But it has the same issue as all the other dishes, it is very oily! We couldn't finish it because it was very greasy. Stir- Fried Gai Lan with Ginger Sauce: Gai lan was fresh, but it is so oily! Vegetable dishes are often light and can hardly go wrong, but this dish was super oily! Didn't help with easing off the greasiness from other dishes. Braised Pork with Sweet Soy Sauce: a famous canto dish, but I only recommend on ordering it if you have a large party size. The pork was fatty, pairing the sweet sauce makes it more oily and greasy. A large portion was left over. Complimentary dessert: the porridge was nicely cooked, it is lightly sweetened, mostly from the pumpkin and taro. The almond cookies were served nicely baked and crispy. My family hate to have left overs, but all the dishes couldn't be finished because of how oily and greasy they were. Maybe Yue Restaurant may be a better choice for dim sum, but DEFINITELY NOT for dinner. Also, their dinner price for each dishes is high. The service was great after you started ordering and eating. The host was kind of cold and seemed annoyed when we walked in. The restaurant was not busy when we visited on a Friday evening.

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. Yes come on a date or impress business clients/boss or family celebrations.

I have many Chinese friends in Vancouver, and my last visit to Kirin Richmond was in July 2024…read more This time, it was my birthday, and my friends insisted on treating me to Kirin Richmond once again. On a typical Sunday evening, the restaurant is usually fully occupied, but my friend had thoughtfully made a reservation a week in advance, so our table for five was ready upon arrival. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, with good airflow thanks to the wide-open front entrance facing the parkade. The front desk receptionist greeted us cordially, and we were escorted to a cozy table in a comfortable location -- not too close to the washrooms, which I appreciated. Our meal began with the Kirin Special Assorted Cold Appetizer, followed by Crab Meat, Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw Soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was delicious, with a generous portion that could easily have served eight people. We also enjoyed Pea Tips Braised with Bean Curd and Assorted Mushrooms in Consommé, Marinated Free-Range Crispy Skin Chicken, Fillet of Cod Sautéed with Seasonal Vegetables, and Live Crab in Consommé with Ginger and Green Onion, served with E-fu Noodles. Overall, the quality and taste of every entrée were excellent. Service was top-notch -- tea and hot water were refilled constantly, bones and used plates were replaced promptly, and the servers were friendly and engaging throughout the evening. My friend and his family have apparently been regulars at this location for over two decades, which likely contributed to the exceptional attentiveness we received. However, one aspect of the experience genuinely disturbed me. All servers, including the captains, continued to wear masks at all times. While this practice was understandable two years ago, now -- five years after the onset of the pandemic, with COVID-19 managed similarly to other seasonal respiratory illnesses -- the continued universal masking in a fine-dining environment feels unnecessary and detracts from the overall guest experience. Fine dining, in my view as an avid foodie, is built on human connection, hospitality, and personal interaction. Masks create a more impersonal, almost clinical atmosphere. In a well-ventilated space like this, the environmental risk does not seem to justify the visual and social trade-off. Rather than providing reassurance, the persistent masking may unintentionally signal that the environment is unsafe or that management is out of step with current provincial health guidelines, where masking is now a personal choice rather than a mandate. Final verdict: Food & Service: 5/5 Ambience: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 -- as the current aesthetic feels more like a relic of 2020 than a leader in 2026 hospitality.

Not sure if it has been the same chef/cook on Saturdays during breakfast and lunch time but the food hasn't been as tasty when compared to weekdays. Today we went for a family lunch gathering on a Saturday and the restaurant was jam packed. Not sure if this was also a factor but every single dish we ordered was so greasy. We also noticed that the portion wasn't as big as what we usually received on weekdays. The complementary soup that came was lukewarm so that was already one point off. The dishes when served were not presented nicely. For example, there was food hanging off the plate and pot (they eventually fell to floor) or spilled sauce on the table. Even my favorite dish stir fried beef rice noodles was just mediocre today. We ordered 6 dishes and every single dish was salty and greasy. It really felt like they were made in haste. It was overall a disappointment and I don't think I'd want to visit the restaurant on a Saturday again.
