    Soya Chicken
    Derek T.

This was my family and wife's first stop in Vancouver and frankly, nothing has topped it yet. You're getting some of the best HK BBQ possible. They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.

Great roasted pork and amazing chicken. Food is so delicious and service is great. Staffs are very friendly. Even it's a tiny restaurant with limited space, you don't feel crowded. I hope NY has good hk style bbq like this one. I miss the food there already!

B.B.Q. pork, soy sauce chicken and second chicken (don't know the English name!) over rice. Mmmmmmm.

Did you even *really* come to Richmond if you didn't stop by here? This restaurant is recommended by every single person in my life who has gone to Richmond, and there's an obvious reason why: the meat is delicious! For the amount of food that you get, it's a fantastic deal. My friends and I came about 30 minutes before they closed one day, so unfortunately we couldn't order duck. However, we did get their bbq pork and chicken, and all of it didn't disappoint. Coming from the US (although originally from Vancouver), it was also my first experience talking to really nice Chinese aunties. What a pleasure, and a change from what I'm using to (I say that in a lovingly way). Come on an empty stomach, and leave happy. You won't regret it!

Most Googled HK BBQ spot in Richmond... so you know I had to pull up HK BBQ Master Ordered everything to-go and went all in: 3-meat over rice (duck, soy chicken, char siu) 2-meat over rice (roasted pork + char siu) First things first--ASK FOR EXTRA ginger scallion oil. Trust me. That sauce alone elevates everything Crispy pork, juicy duck, sweet-savory char siu... solid across the board. Nothing fancy, but it hits the spot every time. And honestly? Pretty impressive for a spot tucked inside a parking garage Cash only--bring paper money, leave the plastic at home Worth the hype Generous portions Easy go-to for a quick HK BBQ fix

Long customer line up - this place is popular!

The food is simple, yet complex in flavours. I can see why this place has such long line ups. I chose the place based solely on its close proximity to the airport. I am not disappointed!

Juiciest char siu pork I've ever had. No frills and fast service. 5 minute wait on a Friday at lunch time. Top tier experience. Soy sauce chicken was also super flavorful, but you gotta come for the pork.

This was the first place we went to in Vancouver and it didn't disappoint. Located in a parking structure, the location can be slightly difficult to find, but parking is actually easy. There are separate lines for takeout and dine in. We got the #6 and #8 combos. The roast and bbq pork were great and I liked the roast duck a lot as well. Flavor and crunch were good and no need to add salt. Services was quick and the noisy bustle inside reminded me of restaurants in Asia. Cash or debit only though, so come prepared.

We stopped by for an early dine in dinner at the HK BBQ Master shop. There was no line up at 4:30 pm for dine in but there was a small line up at the take out side. We ordered the 2 item combos on rice for $16.95 each of #6 bbq pork & roast pork and the #8 with the bbq pork and duck. There was a little bit of a language barrier with the waitress but that was easily sorted after a few laughs. Both dishes arrived still hot which was even better. My bbq pork was a combo of lean & fatty and it had this dark savory bark on the exterior, oh so good while the skin on my roast pork was so crispy it crackled in your mouth when you chewed it. It had just the right amount of salt seasoning. My husband's duck was all breast meat which was very impressive and his fatty bbq pork was the right balance of meat to fat ratio. Because I was do hungry, I polished off my plate before I had a chance to take any photos. My husband didn't finish his plate so we took his leftovers home which is seen in my photo. The service was efficient and helpful. The dining area was kind of tight for space but there were enough tables to meet the demand of diners. There were two doors open that allowed a flow of air to pass through the dining area so as not to be stuffy or boiling hot. This has only been the second time that we've been here and the quality of the bbq meats remains excellent. Glad we came early as the duck sold out after we left. Well worth a visit for under $20/ per person if you are looking for a Chinese bbq dining experience without the traditional restaurant scene in Richmond.

After plentiful recommendations for what otherwise resembles a hole in the wall, HK BBQ Masters is solid. I tried a 3 meat plate with rice and an iced milk tea. The BBQ pork here is a step change better than most. It's succulent, tender, savoury, and ever so sweet. The chicken and duck were good too, but not in the same "step change" way (and I personally found the bones and it's fragments annoying to eat around). Great, friendly service, but the temperature of my food was lukewarm to cool suggesting it wasn't all that fresh. Regardless, this place is certainly worth a try!

Very disappointing that the quality of the roast pork is going down hill. It's been a hit or miss. Half of the order was so dry and tough. Maybe it's time to find another Chinese bbq place.

Another visit to Vancouver means another visit to HK BBQ Master. Food is delicious as always, we stopped by around 5:30pm on a Monday and apparently got the last bit of soup available. Being the last batch, we got to see some of the ingredients like pear and white mushroom ear that we didn't know were part of the base for the soup. The staff seem to have gotten friendlier over the years, which is a nice bonus. Cash only just as a reminder to any newcomers!

Cash only, no frills shop with THE best HK BBQ I've ever had. Don't go expecting great ambience or service -- it's a hustle and bustle, hole-in-the-wall where you're here just for the good food. And trust me -- it's good and the master really is the master of B.B.Q. here. There's a reason why the menu is so small/catered to what they truly excel in. The soy sauce chicken was moist and the taste of soy sauce had penetrated through not only to the skin but to the meat. With a side of the ginger scallion oil and the chili oil -- perfection! My husband astutely pointed out that the scallion garnish was also seasoned with salt, the perfect topping to the perfect plate. The BBQ pork was the star and crowd favorite of the night. We got half lean and half fatty cuts, expecting the leaner cuts to be on the dryer and tougher side as I had experienced in the past eating HK BBQ but I was shocked that even the lean pieces were tender and juicy. Only downsides were having to pay extra for ginger scallion oil and the chili oil but I honestly did not mind after that delicious BBQ experience. If you are ever in the Vancouver area, highly recommend making your way down to Richmond to try this place out. You can dine in (although place is rather small so if you have a large group better to split up) or you can do take out in a separate line. I'm disappointed that I don't have B.B.Q. like this back at home but props to HK BBQ master!

    Vicky V.

HK BBQ master has a very simple menu: roasted pork, soy sauce chicken, bbq duck, sautéed chicken , bbq pork. All these come with rice. You can get single bbq item or a combination. The bbq items are so good. I myself get confused which one to get each time I'm here. The food comes quick and fast after you order. The kitchen is quick, chop up the item you choose and immediately placed over rice. You may dine in or take it out to go. This place is only cash, they accept also US dollars. Simple place, not fancy. There are 2 lines, one for take out and one for dining. There is always a line but goes by quick. Try this place, so good very good! Love this place and I make sure to visit this place when I'm visiting Vancouver. It is located in Richmond next to Canada place. The restaurant is in the parking lot, you'll see a line in front of it.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

I used to come here often with friends and families for breakfast and wanted to see whether it still tasted just as good. We each got two items from the breakfast combo, A through D. The beef noodle broth is flavorful and the congee definitely comforted my soul. The items listed in D are always a miss. We have tried all items and none of them was delicious. For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. Service is a hit or miss depending on which server you get. Sometimes you get servers who come and refill tea and provides actual service.
