Wow, this place is a GEM, I am so in love with the Rolls, I visited 2 days in a row, had to get some more rolls in before we leave BC, which was so sad! Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

Environment is eating at the food court but this food court is pretty decent with a lot of food options. Weekend parking lot can be very busy. About $9-10canadian dollar per riceroll, compare to the USA one, they give good amount of meat! Highly recommended. I usually get congee and the milk pudding, those are great too, but they sold out today
Hei Hei Rice Roll is a food stall at the Richmond Public Market. Open everyday except Tuesdays. They specialize in rice rolls of all assortment. They do have other items but we focused on the combination. It had shrimp, beef and pork with green onions, bean sprouts and corn. It comes with a packet of soy sauce. The other order we did was with char Sui. They were both good. Normally you wait a long time to get your order but we can early so wait was not that long. Lots of other stalls note worthy but Hei Hei Rice roll is one of the popular ones.
We've been to this highly popular food court stall in the past. It serves one of the best rice rolls in Richmond BC. There's usually a long line here, but we came early. We had the #1, Beef, Pork, Shrimp Rice roll with scallions, bean sprouts and corn. I had the Char Siu Roll. Meat inside was tasty and tender. The food court is on the top floor in f Richmond market. There are several small tables. It is bright and airy with piped in music.
Absolute favorite of mines and a must-have every time I travel up to Richmond BC from Seattle. I think their rice rolls are always consistent in taste and texture and I tend to order the same few items each time. Their beef, pork & shrimp is a classic and my personal favorite is the mixed sauce rice roll, which comes plain, with a savory peanut sauce and a sweet soy/hoisin sauce. The flavors just go together so well because the star ingredient - the cheung fun is soft and thin and supple. I've also tried and enjoyed the truffle but definitely recommend the classic variations first. I've also had the congee and enjoyed it but their standouts are definitely the rice rolls. Great location at the food court, easy parking in the lot, and lots of different foods to try at the busy stalls. Definitely expect a bit of a wait especially during rush times like weekends and meal hours because they make the rice rolls fresh to order. But so incredibly worth it. Reminds me of Hong Kong and gives me so much comfort.
It's about a year since my last visit. I first learned about the place from several YouTube videos that I've watched. Last year, the rice roll was like the best rice roll that I've ever had. This time around, it's good but not the same as before. I ordered the 3 flavor rice roll and corn with minced beef congee. The rice roll is good but didn't taste as fresh as it was, or maybe it was overcooked? The minced beef congee though is great! It is flavorful and the corn adds some freshness to it

October 31, 2025 - Next in the Vancouver food crawl, I headed to Richmond Public Market. I heard really good things about Hei Hei Rice Roll and how iconic it was, so I decided to give it a try. I got the minced beef rice roll. It tasted really good. It came with soy sauce you pour on top. The closest thing I can compare it to is a softer Cheng fun. The beef nice and soft and was easy to eat. No complaints. The rice rolls definitely lived up to the hype.
If you're looking for a spot that specializes in rice rolls, this is the place to try. They offer a variety of combinations, but the most popular one is the beef, pork, and shrimp roll. The sauce they add is really good and well balanced, and the rice roll itself is tender and tasty. Definitely a spot worth checking out
Food was really delicious, especially the freshly made Rice Roll. Tried the shrimp and bbq pork. Both were very fresh, yet will order a meat one next time. The shrimp one could use more shrimp. Service was quick and accurate. Would not expect more, it was a food court inside the Richmond Public Market. Ambiance was casual, food court seating, and clean. Most important was it was clean.
We ordered the rice roll that everyone recommended. It was pricey at $9 but it was one of the better rice rolls we've had. There was more meat in there than I could expected. The soy sauce and chili oil included was a great mix. Next time I would get my own plate though so I don't have to share, because I wanted more!

Some great rice rolls located at this place. They are located on the second floor food court plaza of a shopping area. The wait was not long for us and we ordered a couple of rice rolls (one with beef and the other bbq pork) as well as a congee. The congee was decent, but the rice rolls were delicious. They also came with a couple of sauces that I highly suggest you use for the rice rolls.

Hei Hei, look here, it's... a long wait for rice rolls. But yes, they're SO worth the wait! When our group first arrived, the wait time for the order was ~ 45 minutes. However, we made our way back later in the day, and the wait time was a modest 15 minutes. Was it worth the wait? Heck yes. Not only can you customize the toppings and fillings, but these were probably some of the best rice rolls I've ever had... and I've eaten quite a bit in my time, both in SoCal, NorCal, HK, and China. 10 / 10 - would wait (and return) again. read more

I visited Hei Hei Rice roll at Crystal mall. Their rice roll's making process was very unique. Chef poured rice batter on all over flat iron pan and added ingredient and roll everything up on the pan. It was very interesting to watch. I ordered beef, pork and shrimp rice roll. Rice roll texture was amazing. So soft and chewy and I poured sauce all over the rice roll, sauce was very delicious, too. So many customer lining up, and my waiting time wasn't bad, because I lined up right after they opened. Highly recommend this place to try their rice roll! read more

Wow I was super impressed with this! I love congee and rice rolls so it definitely hit the spot on a cold day. It's in a food court in a small mall. I'm not sure if you could even call it a mall really. The top floor is the food court and the bottom floor has a few random shops, a produce store, and Asian pharmacy. They only take cash so keep that in mind before going! I got the rice roll and congee combo for $15 CAD and an order of youtiao (Chinese donuts), and black sugar soy milk. This was a great deal and HUGE. You can definitely share this between two people. I finished the rice roll and had to take most of the congee to go because I was so full. Beef, pork, shrimp rice rolls: so delicious and nicely steamed. I love getting the different meats because it's so flavorful when you add the soy sauce. I also like adding chili oil to give it a little kick. The portion is big so don't worry about whether you'll be full or not. Pork and preserved egg congee: I did enjoy this but I feel like it lacked a bit of flavor. I put some leftover sauce from the rice rolls and chili oil in it which helped. The congee was also a little watery for me. I'm used to a much thicker congee but it was still enjoyable. Black sugar soy milk: nothing super special but if you like soy milk it's good. I can't really taste the black sugar flavor but I think because it's just light on sweetness which is fine with me. Chinese donut: you get two huge pieces! I think I finished half of one and took the rest home. read more
Loved this, the texture of the rice roll is amazing and absorbs so much flavor. I don't think I can eat regular rice roll without thinking about this one again. It's in a nice, clean Chinese food court in Richmond, BC. It's self-service with plenty of seats. Although modern and clean, they are cash only so make sure you bring enough cash. We only had enough cash on us to try 1 flavor sadly! The congee is good, but I'd order 2 rice rolls next time around. read more

Probably the most popular stall in the Richmond Public Market offering rice rolls and porridge. After orderinng, food takes about 10-15 minutes to come out cuz it's freshly made. Food and drink are both delicious. I tried the rice roll with 2 toppings, fatty beef and shrimp CAD$12, and the osmanthus soy milk. read more
Cash only ! (Like most of the Public Market) Definitely my favourite rice rolls in Richmond ! The texture is always perfect , soft and a little chewy. Today I had shrimp , vegetable , and chicken + mushroom. All tasted great. They give you their sauce in little packets now one comes with each roll and they offer chili sauce on the side as well. Multiple vegetarian options and many w/ meat. I like how they use a screen for your order # too so you don't need to stand close and wait. read more

Wow! This place is a MUST. I don't think I can eat just any rice rolls now. This place is the best rice rolls I've ever consumed. The noodles were so chewy and bouncy. The sauce they give you pairs incredibly well with the filling. This place is in a cafeteria ambiance so there is lots of seating. We did go during opening so not sure how it is when it's peak hours. I recommend going early so you don't have to wait long. read more

The rice rolls here are SOO good, the best I've ever had!! So good that I ate here 3 times during my short Vancouver trip. They are located upstairs in Richmond Public Market at a food stall. Service is pretty quick (on weekdays), although I would not expect a fancy dining experience here. During each visit I ordered R1 (rice rolls with shrimp, pork, and beef) with green onions and corn, and a sweet soy milk. Their wrapped style rice rolls tasted so silky and fresh, and almost feels like they just melt in your mouth. The soy sauce + chili oil that they have tastes soo good with the rolls too! Their sauce really adds to how yummy the rice rolls are. Truly so delicious and I wish I could eat this again. :( I also tried the century egg & pork congee on my first visit which was just okay. Felt a bit bland and could use some salt or white pepper. Didn't end up ordering this again, it was mid and the rice rolls were enough to fill me up. Highly recommend trying this place for their rice rolls!! I don't think I will ever consume a tastier rice roll for the rest of my life.. And don't forget to bring cash as they are cash only. :) read more
One of the best congee. I actually prefer HK style rice roll but they serve the Canton style rice roll but the mix sauce they used 混帳 were so tasty, ort no longer bother me. The congee was perfectly done. Very flavorful. Texture was good. Well done. I had the congee with pork stomach and liver with minced pork. Was really excellent. One of the best I've had. Hei Hei was one of the first stops and it did not disappoint! I loved the black truffle seafood rice roll. The minced beef rice roll was tasty too. Location is inside Richmond Public Market. Saw great reviews on this place. Went there on the way to airport. Definitely one of customer favorites. You can see lots of order, online, to go and dine in. Pretty simple menu and on the cheap side. Yoi can even customize the rice noodles. Tried BBQ Pork/Chasiu and Shrimp Rice Roll. Very tasty. Soy sauce and hot chilies oil come in prepackaged. Service is quite fast considering how many order ahead of me. Takes about 10-15min with 10-12 orders ahead of me. Ambiance is very typical Chinese/Asian Food Court. Place is clean. The janitors are all standing by waiting to clean and serve. First floor is the actual market with some restaurants. Free parking garage/parkade. read more

Located inside Richmond Public Market, this is one of many food stalls. We ordered the make-your-own with char siu, sliced beef, and shrimp for 9.50CAD which is good value for the amount of food you get. Around 2pm Saturday, it was still a little busy, but we were able to get our food in 10 minutes. The rice noodle roll comes with soy sauce packet that you can pour whatever amount you wish, and fortunately, the sauce is not too salty and still packs a bit of sweetness. The rice noodle is cooked well and the ingredients are fairly generous. Overall, a fairly good execution of the dish. read more

Great texture from the rice noodle, bouncy and chewy yet breaks down nicely. Quantity was a bit lacklustre considering the 10$ price point. The sharp sweetness of the chilli pepper oil accompanied the meats phenomenally. Wait for the food was a bit long but the actual service was quick and efficient. I went to Richmond Public Market to try out some of recommended dishes from food influencers. Hei Hei Rice roll is pretty good for what it is. Located on 2nd floor, the wait line can be horrendous. Ordered the shrimp roll with added corn and bean sprout at no extra cost. Wait time around 25 mins... however I didnt get a chance to try it until this morning since I went on and on trying different tasty morsels yesterday. Reheated on a microwave this am, throw in the soy sauce and hot chili oil. It's still soft, tasty and subtle of sweet soy sauce, not overwhelming. Chili oil added umami and kick to the dish, I enjoy it. $9 CAD for ultimately a bed of rice rolls with enough baby shrimps, corn and beansprouts on it. You should try it but be mindful of the waiting time... read more
