cured pork and chicken claypot rice
    Tony J.

Food stall in the Yaohan Centre food court. Busy on a weekend with a decent line to the cashier. Was the 2nd most popular stall in the food court at the time. They serve two things: 1. noodle soup where you can customize the noodle, soup, and ingredients, and 2. claypot rice. They offer some different topping combinations for the claypot rice. I got the cured pork and chicken claypot rice. Claypot rice takes a bit of time, so it was 15 min for the order to be ready. If you are eating at the food court, they serve it in the claypot. Comes with a small cup of soy sauce, a bowl of soup and a serving of pickled veggies (green beans). It's legit claypot rice since you do get the nice crispy burnt rice at the bottom of the pot. Pretty good flavors on the chicken, mixed with salty cured pork and sour pickled veggies make for a pretty good meal. Decent portions. The soup was not too bad either. Price was $16.

This is in the food court of Yaohan Centre. Lines can get long but it varies based on when you get here. The staff are quick to take ur order. If you are sharing dishes, there is a .25 fee for extra plates with utensils. You order your food, find a table, and return for your order when your number is called. We ordered a chicken and pork rib clay pot rice, a non spicy beef noodle soup, and a clay pot rice with Chinese sausage and marinated meats. You do have to wait a bit for your clay pot rice to cook (15 or so minutes) but it gives you a chance to look around. Meat to rice ratio could have been better but the flavor was fine and the crispy rice at the bottom was good. The beef noodle soup was delicious and the broth was flavorful.

The wait is long but its worth it. The trick is to time the rice for it to stay at the bottom long for it to be crispy but not too long that it hardens where toj can't scrape it off. The rice was very flavourful and just enough for be very satisfied. The meat to ratio is good. Tried the chicken and Chinese sausage rice and it hit the spot. The place is in a good court so getting a table isn't too bad during off peak hours. This place doesn't open for dinner.

Ajea Noodle (in Chinese means "Love your home" based on the Chinese character) 3700 No.3 Road, Richmond Located at Yoahan Centre Food Court I decided to check out the claypot rice at Ajea. We came on a weekday at 12 noon, there was a line up! And... the line up continued while we were eating there. So they make this Szechuan noodles that seems to be popular. I came for the claypot rice, despite the long line up, it moved quite fast. I placed my order for chicken & Chinese sausage claypot rice, I was told it was a 25 minutes wait. After 25 mins, my order was ready! Came with a small container of special soya sauce for the claypot rice with soup & pickled veggies. I did ask for an extra soya sauce thinking the sauce may not be enough. Trust me, one sauce was enough. The claypot rice met my expectation! I needed to just use one sauce as it was quite salty. I like the burnt rice bottom, the burnt was just perfect for me. The chicken was nicely seasoned, tender & the Chinese sausage was a perfect match with the chicken. A wonderful meal...I now have a place to go for my claypot rice. Cash Only, parking is plentiful

Wanted to try the clay pot rice here for some time, finally did and it was tasty. This food stall is probably the busiest in the Yohan foot court. The clay pots are made to order and take time, so if you're in a rush, this place probably isn't for you. Also tried the soup noodle, but just not a big fan of the numbing spice. This is a food court so don't expect much more ambiance than that. Order, get your food, eat, and leave.

Tasty rices dishes heated in a clay pot that really makes the tastes come out amazing. I had the green bean pork ribs on rice and it was delicious but I felt the portions were just the slightest tad too small for me .rice dishes or noodle both got for about $16 .

Super tasty claypot (potted rice) place inside the Yaohan food court. Parking is plentiful in the Yaohan lot. I actually came here expecting to try the noodle soup, but noticed everyone was ordering claypots. Time to give that a go. The claypots are custom made to order, so they do take about 15 minutes. The claypots are oh so pretty. See photo. They can do various levels of spicy, which is really just different levels of chopped jalapenos and chilis. Definitely quite a bit of kick. The combo comes with a bowl of soup, a dish of pickled beans, and some dipping sauce for the meat chunks. The rice is crispy but not burnt. They get it just right. Special mention. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

Located in the middle of Yaohan center food court, this small restaurant offers food that packs a punch. I always get the spiciest option because I rarely find satisfaction in spice levels. Lucky me I found Ajea Noodles that truly satisfy my taste buds for spice!!!!! It is always the most busiest restaurant in the food court and you will always see everyone with a bowl of noodles. The noodles are cooked to perfection and the flavor is SO GOOD. Worth the wait if there is one but their service is quite fast for how busy they almost always are! Cant wait to go back AGAINNNNNN. They are cash or wechat/alipay only.

We came here on a saturday at 11am and there were already people lining up before it opened. We didn't realize that it was cash only so we ended up ordering on fantuan and picked up the food after about 15 minutes. We got the beef noodle with bok choy, mild spice, and it was pretty decent! The mild spicy is definitely spicier than usual and it also has a numb flavor to it which makes it interesting. Even though we got it in take out style, the portion is actually huge so we ended up taking it home. But it came out to be under $15 and it was worth it.

    Cantonese-Style Savoury Rice
    Michelle L.

When you're craving claypot rice, finding a place that serves it in smaller, individual portions outside of a sit-down restaurant can be challenging. Luckily, this food court stall at Yaohan Centre in Richmond has you covered! While it may seem unassuming, Ajea Noodle's offerings are far from ordinary and well worth a visit. For $15-$18, you get a freshly prepared, sizzling hot pot of deliciousness with your choice of toppings. The rice is crispy and scorched, the meats are delicious, and watching them prepare the claypots on the stove right up front adds to the experience. The claypot rice takes 15-20 minutes to prepare, but it's well worth the wait as each pot is made-to-order and prepared fresh. The flavours are outstanding, and each bowl is a comforting and hearty meal that warms you from the inside out. Each claypot rice also comes with a side of pickled veggies, soy sauce, and a bowl of soup -- all of which perfectly complement the main dish. WHAT WE TRIED Cantonese-Style Savoury Rice Pork Chops and Chicken Rice The Cantonese-Style Savoury Rice was a symphony of flavours featuring bacon, duck leg, and sausage. While delicious, I couldn't help but wish for a bit more of the duck, as there were only two or three small pieces, which had left me wanting more. In comparison, the Pork Chops and Chicken Rice claypot was loaded with generous portions of pork chops and chicken. Both claypots showcased perfectly cooked rice, with an irresistible layer of crispy, scorched rice, adding a delightful crunch to every bite. Heads up, as with most Asian food court establishments in Richmond, Ajea is cash only. This spot is also busy for a good reason, so do expect a lineup during peak hours. With great taste at reasonable prices, Ajea Noodle proves that sometimes the best culinary experiences can be found in the most unexpected places. So, if you find yourself craving a simple and satisfying meal, Ajea Noodle is the place to be! Instagram Reel: https://bit.ly/3YqhlHg

Noodles with signature soup base, sweet potato noodles, intestines
    Stephanie M.

We arrived at 11:05 and there were already people ahead of us in line. We ordered the noodle with signature broth, sweet potato noodles and pork intestines. We also ordered the Cantonese style clay pot rice. They told us it would take around 15-20 minutes. They asked if we wanted the noodles and rice out at the same time and we said yes. It took around 30 minutes for the rice to be ready so if you are in a rush please come early because afterwards I heard them telling people it would take around an hour for the rice. They have a limited amount of stoves so it takes longer for the rice to be ready. The noodles were pretty delicious and addicting. They are very generous with the toppings and the noodles. Lots of intestines inside and I didn't feel super thirsty after eating it. I love the salty marinated veggies inside. Everything goes so well together. Next time I will try the sweet and sour soup base with potato noodles instead. The Cantonese clay pot rice was also delicious. The rice was well cooked. Each grain was separate from each other and it had a good amount of crispiness on the bottom. They are also very generous with the sausage and marinated dried duck. Next time I would try the spicy Sichuan style one or the chicken one because it looked good when they were making it. I would definitely come back!

    Karen L.

I think that I'd still opt to go to "41 Noodle & Rice Pot House" for clay pot rice, but this was a very solid option at a food court! Please keep in mind you will need 20 minutes or so for your order to be done since they have to fire up a customized pot every time someone orders it. The spicy level means you'll get varying amounts of chopped Chili peppers on top.

    "Chinese style" --very good!
    Gloria J.

My first time trying this place I ordered their "Chinese style" clay pot rice and it's GOOD! I only wished that there was some charred (crispy) rice at the bottom of the pot but other than that the dish was good!! Came with soy sauce and some sort of pickled side dish (which was good). Definitely would go back to try their other dishes!

My mom thought they didn't have enough ginger in the vinegar (but personally it's a mute point for me since if the XLB is good enough I don't add ginger) I enjoyed them. Nice and soupy just the way I like them. Braised Beef noodle soup w/ Kuan noodle - great noodle and beef texture, broth could be a bit more flavourful, but honestly not bad. Popcorn chicken - it's lacking depth in seasoning, and a little overdone on the dark side of things, but pretty good otherwise. We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close.
