Definitely a more fancy looking restaurant but I saw people wearing anything from jeans and a t shirt to nice dresses. Service was great here and they even gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and a little dessert at the end since my boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter was also particularly helpful with choosing out a sweet dessert wine for me since I don't usually drink much wine They also have complimentary bread with olive oil and butter before your food comes out. This was nice but I definitely over-ate and was already a bit full by the time our food came out Seafood plateau: 4/5 the oysters were definitely the highlight of this dish for me. After that, I liked the tuna tartare and the yellowtail a lot Rack of lamb: 5/5 we were expecting more lamb bc of the name but it came with 3 pieces which we ordered medium rare. I was a little nervous about how red the meat was but it was super good and I liked it a lot
Elisa Steakhouse crushed it for my birthday dinner, special-occasion quality food with service that was attentive and never overbearing. We tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu striploin and the A5 Kagoshima Wagyu tenderloin. Both were unreal: rich, buttery, and perfectly cooked with that melt-in-your-mouth texture. The Hokkaido scallop risotto was creamy and balanced, with beautifully seared scallops that tasted incredibly fresh. What really made the night was the pacing and hospitality, knowledgeable staff, great recommendations, and check-ins at just the right moments without hovering. It's very expensive, but if you're looking for an elevated steakhouse dinner in Yaletown (especially if you want to make A5 Wagyu the main event), Elisa is an easy recommendation.
We headed to Elisa for my partner's birthday. If you like steaks that's the place to go! Lot's of meats to choose from. It was a bit overwhelming trying to decided which piece of meat and origin. We ended up ordering an australian wagyu flat iron and a rib-eye from Alberta. For sides we had fries and the truffle mac and cheese, as well as some red wine sauce and peppercorn sauce. My wagyu flat iron was the best. It was melting in my mouth. Such an heavenly experience! Loved the truffle mac and cheese. Dessert was also very good. All was excellent... And pricey. The restaurant was packed for being the middle of the week. Service was good, maybe a bit slow. My complaint is actually how loud the restaurant is. I had trouble having a conversation with my partner. This is not the place to have a romantic dinner or take your hard of hearing familly members That's too bad because the food is really great.
THE BEST STEAK IN CANADA. This is what our server claimed and he definitely was correct! It honestly was one of the best steaks I have ever had. The lobster was also fantastic, honestly you couldn't go wrong with anything here. It's a more upscale location and the prices are reflected accordingly but absolutely justified for the experience. Service is fast, the servers are knowledgable and quick. I will absolutely be coming back next time I visit. Food Quality: ***** Service: ***** Ambiance: ***** Value: ****
World class ambiance and service, no question. I think it fell a little short on the steaks, but still a solid 4 out of 5 stars. When you consider source (you can ship anywhere to anywhere in the world today), selection (not as much skill required here as you'd think), preparation (dry age, wood, The Fire, seasoning (more with the Asians, who are relative newcomers to this game), blah, blah, blah - definitely involves skill), and presentation. Five out of five star NYC steakhouses are far better than the 1 extra star would lead most to believe. Even Alexander's in the Bay Area is superior, and they had a really bad start on Day One, but improved rapidly and held on. Easily a 5 out of 5 for Vancouver and steakhouses - a city and an entire region (PNW) definitely not known for beef. And again, the interior is beautiful and elegant without being stuffy, stiff, or desperate. World class ambiance. If I had to close a big business deal with non-vegans, this is precisely the sort of drinks+dinner venue I'd pick. Most of what we ordered looked like: 'classic' beef tartare, 'signature' beef tartare + veal tartare king river, australia,full heritage japanese wagyu and australian cross ribeye 12oz porterhouse, 32oz, grass-fed, CIB, prince edward island beef wellington for two; pastry wrapped 8oz angus reserve beef tenderloin, herb crêpe, burgundy truffle, potato 'fondant', roast heirloom carrots, red wine sauce brussels sprouts - fried, brown butter, parmesan wild + foraged mushrooms - sautéed baked alaska - caramelized banana rum ice cream, browned butter cake, peanut butter crémeux, banana purée, candied peanuts kids menu gnocchi and a serious double cheeseburger with fries - didi easily finished his gnocchi and lana came close to finishing her cheeseburger, which is rare
Amazing service and even better steaks. It's a place with great atmosphere and very attentive and professional service. The steaks are cooked perfectly and all the sides complement the mains. Baked Alaska is the best in the city, a must to finish off the perfect meal.
We thought that trying to get a table on a Monday night towards the end of October wouldn't be a problem, but I tried about a week in advance, just to be safe, and thankfully I did that, because it was almost too late for me to get a decent time for the two of us! So I thought it must be a very small place, and that was why it was difficult to book a table. Wrong again! The place is quite large. I can't imagine how hard it must be to book a table there in the summer! So if you want to go there, you definitely need to make a reservation, and make it early! So it was a great fine dining experience. Most places don't serve Beef Wellington, and I really like Beef Wellington, so that was why we went there. The Beef Wellington is for two, and it was good, but not great. Normally we don't order dessert, but it was such a pleasant experience that we wanted to stay longer. When we were given the dessert menu, we saw that they served something else that isn't so readily available anymore...Baked Alaska! They did a great job with it, so I'm glad we stayed for dessert. The service was impeccable. We had a tall, attractive woman who did a great job. I wish I remembered her name, as I would definitely want to single her out for her great service. And the bathrooms...wow! The toilets had heated seats(!), and you dried your hands off with small cloth towels, rather than paper towels. The best way I can tell you how great they were: three nights later, we went to another fine dining establishment in Vancouver that has a great reputation. And while they were good, it was still a disappointment, as Elisa did everything just a little bit better!

Then came the steaks... oh my. Cooked medium with that perfect blush of pink. The prime rib? Melt-in-your-mouth tender. The 20oz ribeye ($92) was bold, juicy, and made us both do the "first bite happy dance." Let's talk sides: the truffle mac and cheese was rich and dreamy, and the Brussels sprouts were so smooth they basically flirted with us. Who knew veggies could feel like velvet? Only miss? The Baked Alaska didn't steal the show, but honestly, we were too busy savoring the moment...to care. Our server was the sweetest--attentive, kind, and added to the whole experience. We'll definitely be back for round two. Just don't forget to make a reservation--this spot fills up fast.

We started off with the Hamachi, it melted in my mouth. So good. We Ordered 4 different types of steak; King River, Carrara Australia, Pine shaven Alberta, Brunt lake farm. We also ordered 4 different types of sides that included, truffle Mac and cheese, fries, salad and mushrooms. Overall, the food, service & the ambiance is amazing. My family and I are so happy and we will be back.
We arrived at Elisa at 4:35pm for a 4:45pm reservation and were kindly asked to wait at the bar. While waiting, we were served complimentary bread -- including a gluten-free option, which I really appreciated. We started with a few appetizers: oysters, tuna tartare, and scallops. The tuna tartare was delicious, and the scallops were perfectly cooked. For mains, we shared several items. The Hank's tenderloin was the standout -- incredibly tender and full of flavor. The picanha wagyu, unfortunately, was quite tough and chewy, while the 2oz King River Jewel wagyu was enjoyable but didn't wow. The real surprise of the night was the chicken: outstanding, juicy, and packed with flavor, with truffle and herbs tucked under the skin. I would absolutely return just for the chicken and the Hank's tenderloin. For dessert, the cheesecake was a different flavor than last time -- more pumpkin spice and carrot-forward. While it was fine, I personally prefer their classic vanilla cheesecake and hope they bring that version back. Overall, a great experience with some real highlights and a few misses.
Went to Elisa to celebrate my graduation as it's known for being one of the best steakhouses in Vancouver. We ordered the following: 1. Oysters (West and East Coast) - $4.5/piece 2. Blue Dot Beef - Vancouver Cut - $89 3. A5 Miyazaki - $36/oz 4. Sablefish - $52 5. Brussels Sprout - $14 6. Chocolate Cake - $16 As expected with these fine dining restaurants, service was great with them being able to explain the different cut of meats and wines available. Plenty of drinks options for both alcohol and non-alcohol. Food wise, I do think they serve good steak, though the heavy lifting definitely comes from the wagyu. It was my first time trying the Vancouver cut and while it was pretty unique, still could not compare to wagyu. The sablefish was an unexpected favourite and a good option for my mother who doesn't eat steak. Appetizers can be hit and miss, since neither my dad and I are fans of the oysters. The brussel sprouts served as a nice side for the steaks, but I think they overgrilled it with too much oil, which made them taste oily and a bit rancid. Dessert made up for it though, loved the salty-sweet ice cream and lava cake.

Came here for a family celebration; it is a very high end place, with very personable and excellent service. Note that I'm NOT a steak person at ALL but this place was perhaps the best steak that I've ever had so I had to get it. They are apparently ranked the 24th best steakhouse worldwide! My strip sirloin was PERFECT - never had a steak whose outside was done so perfectly - seared crispy with lots of flavour on the skin, almost crunchy, while the inside was moist and tender. Not chewy, not solid. Just so good. I actually liked it better than the piece of ribeye I tried, which I thought was a bit more stringy. The tartare appetizers we got were just superb as well. The beef and bison tartare were both unique, smooth and done well. I liked the bison as it has a bit more kick to it. I found the tuna tartare with avocado my favourite overall but I really really like the compote that came with the hamachi. The sides - especially the mushroom risotto - were all really really good too. Flavour with risotto was out of this world. The puréed potatoes were so smooth. The salad was only ok though. I also didn't care for the baked Alaska dessert but I tasted the creme beulee which was really good. This place is definitely reserved for special occasions and very pricey but the steaks are out of this world good and overall everything was excellent. read more

I went to Elisa and had an amazing experience. Reservations were fully booked for the day, but we showed up right when they opened and were able to get seated. We ordered the yellowfin tuna tartare, cured hamachi, aged ribeye, Australian Wagyu, truffle mac & cheese, potato purée, and onion rings, everything was fantastic. It's no surprise this place is always booked. The service was excellent, and the overall ambiance made the experience even better. I was visiting on vacation and found this spot on Yelp. I saw a few reviews mentioning that it's expensive, but it's a steakhouse, if those prices aren't in your budget, don't go to a steakhouse. For the quality of the steak, the atmosphere, and the service, I found the prices to be fair. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Loved the vibe here! The volume was perfect, easy to have a conversation while still feeling lively. We came for our anniversary and were surprised with complimentary bubbly and some cute desserts, which was such a thoughtful touch. The steak did not quite live up to the price, but the lamb rack was solid. The appetizers were the stars of the night. I never thought I would like tartare, but my partner convinced me to try it and now I am a fan. The truffle mac was also a hit. Our server had such a relaxed energy and made us feel comfortable the whole time. read more

The steak and brussel sprouts I got was amazing would definitely come back on another occasion. Have heard of the service being really slow but that was not the case when I went, staff was really nice to me and I got a free little dessert for my bday. read more
I was quite impressed by Elisa's interior design as the restaurant has a dim but warm and elegant atmosphere. The service was organized as we had a designated server throughout our meal and he made an effort to remember the name that we reserved under. We ordered a tartare, sea scallops, a steak with potato puree and mac + cheese, and crème brûlée. The food tasted good and presentation was stellar. I think I enjoyed the experience more than the dining but I'd recommend this place for special occasions. read more
We came here last night for date night and had an amazing time! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We also really enjoyed the beautiful design of the restaurant. It was modern with that classic steakhouse kind of vibe. We ordered the Dungeness crab rolls to start, along with the classic steak tartare. The steak tartare was great, and was even better than some of the tartare we had in Paris! For mains I had the wagyu strip loin and it was incredible - very tender. My husband chose the aged ribeye and it was good but honestly not great. For sides we had the brussel sprouts and the onion rings - both very tasty and seasoned to perfection. Wonderful high end steakhouse in Vancouver! Reservations are highly recommended and easy to make on their website. The interior is extremely modern and high end, but we were a little disappointed that another party was seated directly next to us (fairly close quarters) despite the restaurant being rather empty. The server was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. My cocktail was tasty and strong. The complementary bread was delicious and fresh. We had a shrimp cocktail and a Caesar salad to start. The shrimp was delicious, plump, and fresh with a tasty cocktail sauce. The salad was ok; the dressing had very little flavor. I had the 6 ounce Wagyu filet for my entree. Not as tender as I had imagined, but tasty and enjoyable. We had Brussels sprouts and hash browns for side dishes. Both were delicious particularly the hash browns which had a crispy exterior and tender potatoes. For dessert we had the baked Alaska. Perfectly sized for two and extremely tasty and surprisingly not overly sweet. Overall this was a very tasty high end steakhouse dining experience in Vancouver. I recommend it! read more
One of the best restaurant groups that exist in Vancouver. Toptable brought another showstopper when they introduced Elisa just across the way from its sister Blue Water Cafe. Surf and turf perfection to a tee is what I'd call this group. I'm a bit of a steak snob considering I had a short stint in Texas and Calgary the top two steak capitals of the world practically but Elisa does a steak well. Where they really shine is the ambience and service though. The overall menu compilation is flawless and keeping up with the trends while still bringing unique flair to the palate. I tried the melt in your mouth burrata appetizer, a classic beef wellington with a perfect fondant potato for my main and a jaw dropping beautiful presentation of a deliciously indulgent baked Alaska as the ending of my perfect meal. I'd still rate Blue Water Cafe as my overall top restaurant in Vancouver but Elisa is gunning for second place. I'd say if you're looking for a romantic evening or a really good vibe then Elisa it is. Seafood or steak you can't go wrong at this place. read more

Attended a birthday party on a Sunday night at Elisa in Yale town. Place was packed. We were a group of 22 and sat in their private room in the back. Started with seafood tower that was primo and break and butter. Then I had their green salad. Not a big fan. Other options were carpaccio and beef tartare. They looked much better. Had their 12oz ribeye for main course. Was cooked well for a medium rare order but was a bit too fatty. Their steak knives are kinda dull. Had their fried and mushrooms for sides. Both really nicely done. Had a couple of skinny margaritas before dinner and then switched to wine. For dessert, I had Theo chocolate mousse cake and an espresso. Delightful. read more

Elisa is a well-known number 1 steak house in Vancouver. Make sure you make reservations at least a few days beforehand, or else you won't have a spot except maybe a bar seat. We ordered the seafood platter for two and 6oz Idaho waygu. Seafood is a good deal for $67, not sure for local, but it is definitely a deal for Toronto people. The platter has 6 oysters, cocktail shrimp, cured hamachi, tuna with avocado, and smoke salmon. The seafood is very fresh overall but the shrimp is a bit on the smaller side. The Idaho steak is a must to order. Great deal $65 for 6oz. Enough for us to share since we had a late and heavy lunch. We would come back for another meal if we stay longer in Vancouver. Keep in mind $21 valet parking is worth because it is hard to find parking in Yaletown. read more
LOOOOOOOOOOVE this restaurant. A friend and I picked Elisa as the restaurant to take my mother to for her early birthday celebration dinner (during our short visit to Vancouver) and I made reservations pretty much as soon as they became available online. Such an excellent ambience, and, as my mother said, those folks in the kitchen must be magical... because the ingredients and flavors they put together on each plate were so deliciously and wonderfully combined. I also love that dining is recommended as family style, so you order plates and sides for the table and then have the opportunity to share everything. Our server (who was lovely and answered plenty of our questions about the menu) specifically noted that each person could select their steak and then the kitchen would slice up each cut so that the individual cuts could be shared amongst the table. With that in mind, each of the 3 of us ordered a different cut of steak - from a different producer - and we asked that they be sliced so we could all individually try the various cuts. In the process, we were able to savor the nuances of each of the different steaks - the flavor from the aging, for example, or the different types of marbling. We also ordered 2 different types of oysters for the table, the roast sea scallops (with thai style salsa with tomato, chili, lime and cilantro), and split various sides, including the wild + foraged mushrooms, brussels sprouts (fried, brown butter, parmesan), and the mac + cheese (burgundy truffle, comté cheese). All were amazing... A++++++ to the kitchen staff, for sure! And whoever makes the creme brulee (with vanilla, salted caramel, apple, bergamot gel, dulcey crust)? It was divine. That dulcey crust beneath the custard (along with the classic caramelized sugar topping) was a delightful combination of textures and flavor. TL;DR. While this restaurant may be on the more expensive side, it's because dining here is an experience. Between the location in Yaletown and the efforts of all the restaurant staff? It was a busy Sunday night. Our server was lovely but our food was on the slow side and came out 1 hr and 15 mins after we were seated. The bread basket was a let down. Cold, hard and very chewy bread. Tried the 40 day aged rib eye, branzino and 6oz of wagyu. Overall it was OK but not sure if it's worth the price. We came for a special occasion and glad we came, just not sure we would be back again soon. They offered to debone the fish which was a nice touch. The sides unfortunately were nothing to write home about but the desserts were beautiful and divine. The baked Alaska funnily tasted more like rum and raisin instead of banana which we were totally fine with. Ambiance was nice. Not too loud and great for larger groups. read more

Very beautiful atmosphere and great service. They get 5 stars for service because I loved our waiter he really took care of us checked in on us and even went above and beyond when he had a feeling my friend didn't like how her Caesar drink was made he came and insisted that they remade it to her liking because it's really a hit or miss with Caesar's some people like it spicy some are bitter from the Worcestershire. He was amazing! I would come back for the ambience and the service as well as the following items I loved: Cured hamachi 10/10!!! standout restaurant for sure -- was in vancouver for a week and this place was a big recommendation so i stopped by on my first night after settling in the hotel. not too crowded for a weekday night with a classier ambiance, but standout was 100% the service. i've almost never felt as tended to as i was at elisa and i've been to plenty of finer dining establishments. staff was super friendly and receptive to my questions, made my first night one of the better ones. the steak itself was phenomenal (a little salty imo, but otherwise overall delicious and perfectly cooked). also came with a complimentary starter that was light and a nice preview to the night. read more
Elisa is a treat, to be sure! Everything was great, and I'll definitely be back. The ambiance was lovely, the food was amazing, and the service was warm and attentive! The beef carpaccio was one of the best I've had in a lonnnng time. Perfectly balanced flavors. Our server, Chelsea, recommended the Prince Edward Island bone-in ribeye steaks for sharing and the Wisconsin striploin. We ended up ordering the Prince Edward Island "Vancouver-cut" bone-in tenderloin, the Wisconsin striploin, and the Miyazaki wagyu. They were all delicious. 3oz of wagyu for two was just enough as it's super rich. It really did feel like it melted in your mouth. I preferred the striploin because it was more flavourful, but the tenderloin was more tender. For the sides, we got the potato puree and broccolini. The potato puree was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed how creamy delicious it was. The broccolini was good, too. Highly recommend the vanilla macarpone cheesecake for dessert! It was a little surprise in a way because it didn't taste like we expected. Chelsea was a fantastic server, and we really appreciate all her recommendations! Vancouver Magazine hyped up this place as the best steakhouse in Vancouver for 2023. Well, is it? Is it worth parting your hard earned cash approximately 200$/ person (at the time of writing)? I really really really want to like this..... Of the things we ordered, following is a list from the best tasting to the least: 1. Mac and cheese 2. Cheesecake 3. Gluten-free bread 4. Seafood plateau 5. The drinks; mule and spritzer 6. Strip loin 14 oz double r ranch, okanagan, washington signature bone-in striploin 40 day dry aged 14oz 7. blue dot, prince edward island potato and grass-fed bone-in rib-eye 20oz That's right their mains, the calling card, are actually their worst tasting items. Here's why, both were cooked medium rare, which under the normal circumstances would be fine but there were so many tendons in them, rendered inedible. Plus the knives they gave us were as dull as the butter knife. At some point it was impossible to cut. We end up throwing 1/3 away. I overheard a waiter saying they use beech and applewood for the fire oven. Not a big fan of those woods. The slight acidity and excessive sweetness do not go well with the flavour of the steaks. The flavour just seems to sit outside the steak. And man, would you please char the steaks more? The outside is almost as rare as the inside. Also the steaks are so bland. At the minimum they should have some salt and pepper shakers on the table. Anytime when your partner who doesn't even cook can make better steaks with a conventional gas stove better than Elisa, we have a problem. 200$pp is definitely not worth it. read more
