My girlfriend and I visited Vancouver for New Year's and so many friends told us that we had to try Cactus Club Cafe. We'd never heard of it before, so our curiosity was high. We ended up arriving during their happy hour (2-5PM & 9-10PM depending on the day), which was perfect timing. Walking in, the place immediately impressed us. Modern, and upscale lounge vibes. The interior felt boujee in the best way, and we even got seated at a table with a beautiful view of the water. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the place was packed, which is always a good sign. For drinks, we ordered the Sunset Soda and their happy hour white wine, which were both great. For food, we tried the Avocado Dip, the Mini Crispy Chicken Sandwiches, and a tuna roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and honestly such a good value for happy hour pricing. What surprised us most was learning that there are multiple Cactus Club locations all over Vancouver. With how nice this place was, we'd love to see one open in the States someday. read more

Pros: Food, Prices, Frozen Sangria Cons: Dirty, bad service Visiting BC and see cactus club cafes all over the place so we thought it had to be good. The coal harbour one was right next to our hotel. Walked in at 9:00pm on a Friday with no reservations. Stood by the front check in hostess counter for 5 minutes while we watched 7 (yes 7 young female employees behind a small counter) look for a customers charger who had left it there earlier in the day. It took 7 of them minutes to open the drawer and hand her her lost and found item. Then, when we were finally acknowledged, one girl looked up without a smile and pointed outside "the girl with a tablet will help you outside". We go back out to see Polly standing on the side of the door behind a plastic tarp covered shelter.... greeted us and we waited another 5 minutes. Finally 1 of the 7 girls came out to show us to a table. We were handed menus and two warm waters without ice, one of which had a huge chunk of slimy food on the outside of the glass. THAT MADE ME NERVOUS TO CONTINUE TO EAT HERE. Our server Alex arrived and was nice. We ordered 3 food items to share and all were good! He was timely with the order, and with clearing our table. We then were given our check, and then waited 27 minutes between check and taking our payment so we could leave. Delicious food with excellent service. Wish we went to happy hour because the prices were very reasonable and had many of the same items as the dinner menu. Loved the lemongrass Thai noodle salad which is only offered at this location. Added a perfectly cooked salmon that enhanced that entree. Hubby loved the blackened chicken. No matter which location I go to, the food and service standards are relatively high for a casual chain restaurant. My wife and I went her for dinner after an event at the convention centre. With the Christmas Market next door, the night was quite busy. We waited 15-20min in the walk-in line before getting a table. Once seated, we ordered the following: - Wagyu Beef Carpaccio: Very good. All the ingredients work well together. Probably one of the few times where there was too much bread from a ratio perspective (which is not a problem). - Tuna Stack: Very good. Classic representation of Vancouver food. Delicate and delicious. - Rigatoni Bolognese: Very good. Al-dente, and just the right amount of sauce to coat the pasta without drowning it. Well-prepared. Service was good. Did everything she's supposed to do, was timely and pleasant. No complaints. Overall, another good visit. Vancouver! I then found out! Yall hiding all the good restaurants under the snow! On my last day in Vancouver, my group all met up at Cactus club. We had been wow'd all week at the cuisine so came in hungry. Well- I did, they were late! So in the meantime I had an inappropriate amount of peach belinnis (i would die for these/5). They were sooo tasty when my party finally arrived, they ALL ordered several as well. To eat i had the chicken sliders (4/5) and the tai lettuce wraps (3/5). I'd definitely recommend yall pull up! Arcacia is our server and was so amazing and friendly! Such wonderful knowledge of the area as well as the good and made some great suggestions. Went to this location of Cactus Club twice in the month of May and both times because I had visitors from out of town and wanted to take them to the go-to spot for Vancourites! I chose the coal harbour location because I love the view from there. Both times I requested to be seated by the water but since both times were during the weekend, it was full so they weren't able to give me the spot without a 30mins wait. I usually get their blackened creole chicken - I love it so much! Comes with mash potato, asparagus, and a brown butter that's melted on the chicken. I also tried their new summer drink - their slushy pina colada which was SOO good and I'm also a sucker for pina colada in general. My friend had their butternut squash ravioli and loved it! Very nice decor and the staff are professional! The food is good here. My steak frites was cooked perfectly & kale salad was good. The Parmesan chicken had a great flavor & was cooked perfectly. so much for my no eating after 8:00 pm rule, we rolled in at 9:30 pm on a sunday and there were still people waiting for tables. we were told we could sit at the bar if we didn't want to wait, but not at the booths, and had to check in with the hostess for anything else. it was late night happy hour. we go to cactus club a lot. my partner likes the consistency, and this location overlooking coal harbour, skyscrapers, ocean, and mountains, might actually edge out english bay. bonus points for the seaplanes taking off and landing in the background. we started with a piña colada, which was thick, frosty, and refreshing. my partner ordered a longboard, but it came warm. he likes his beers cold. we asked for a glass of ice. our server, grace, was sweet and apologetic and offered a chilled glass, but not wanting to cause trouble, he declined. we didn't have the heart to tell grace the truffle fries were kinda soggy and the steak was tough, especially after the whole warm beer thing. normally, if there's an option to upgrade to truffle fries, my answer is always "hell yeah", but not here, and not tonight. they were missing that salty, crisp, golden fried magic. the side salad with the steak frites was light and well seasoned. the one bright spot: the tuna temaki. fresh, flavourful, and well balanced. my spouse was thinking about getting the calamari, and i was eyeing the desserts, but given the experience, we both decided against it. overall, this visit just missed the mark. service was kind, but the food didn't live up to the cactus club standard we've come to expect. read more

I'm here for work and on one of my walks around the waterfront. I stopped off here spontaneously and got a lovely seat at the bar. The bartender could not have been nicer and she gave me guidance on some things I should order. I had the tuna temaka appetizer, which apparently is new to the menu and it was outstanding! I also had a Parmesan crusted chicken that had a delicious asiago cream sauce, mushrooms, and potato gnocchi, which I highly recommend. After enjoying an event at the Convention Centre, I decided to have dinner at Cactus Club in Canada Place, just a minute's walk away. On a busy weekend, we had to line up for a patio table, but the wait wasn't too long--about 10 to 15 minutes. Luckily, we got a nice patio table overlooking the ocean and the Convention Centre. Our group ordered chicken sandwich sliders, lettuce wraps, a poke bowl, and Baja fish tacos. The chicken sandwich sliders were three small deep-fried chicken burgers with pickles, onions, and lettuce. They were delicious and perfect for sharing with others. My favorite was the lettuce wrap. It had a Chinese-style twist with sweet and spicy Szechuan glaze, peanuts, wontons, Korean chili sauce, and spicy yogurt. It was delicious and one of the unique items on the restaurant's menu. The Baja fish tacos featured beer-battered cod, pickled cabbage, garlic mayo, avocado crema, and flour tortillas. The deep-fried fish paired really well with the pickled cabbage and mayo seasoning. I liked this dish very much. The poke bowl included sesame ginger ahi tuna, jasmine rice, mango, cucumber, avocado, edamame, ginger, and radish. This dish was supposed to include crispy tempura, but I couldn't find it--perhaps the menu has changed? It was just okay. This used to be my favorite dish, but somehow, it seems different from what I had a while ago. The notable points of this restaurant were the nice view and good location. I'll likely visit again, as it's one of nice patio restaurants in downtown Vancouver. read more
