If you like good cocktails without pretentious settings than this place fits the bill. Happy Hour has a decent variety of drinks available for $10 and the rest of the menu is decently priced with most of the cocktails around $17. The Bar food offerings are also delicious and you can't beat the sourdough bread for helping to slow the absorption. I found it the first night I was in Vancouver and I'm here on the last and the only reason I wasn't here last night was because I was beat from walking around Stanly Park. read more

While traveling to Vancouver we wanted to get some cute drinks. This place was great! Super cute and such a chill vibe. The bartenders were very nice and even though they couldn't make a certain drink they offered to make an alternative and it was delicious. Would recommend and comeback! read more

Excellent craft cocktail bar- vibe was off maybe cause only couples inside or that it was pretty dead. Sat at bar of course, bartender guided me in the right direction for drink choices. Both were executed with perfection and ease. Small bites for food are available. Would come back. read more

Excellent cocktail lounge with a small menu of appropriate noshes. Cool ambiance, and a pleasant, not overwhelming soundtrack. We had several rounds of cocktails, all good, the standout being the Exit Strategy, a sort of coffee-infused Negroni made with tequila, if that makes any sense at all. The charcuterie plate was particularly nice. Pleasant and prompt service. read more

What a cool spot! We didn't have any trouble getting a booth seat immediately. Our server was friendly and helpful, especially because the menu was beyond expansive. He advised that the initial drink I'd had my eye on might not be the best choice based on my taste/preferences, and I was super happy with the one I ordered instead. It was quite strong so I only had one cocktail. My bf sampled a few. The bartender/mixologist is clearly very skilled. She came by to check on us and take orders as well. We are so happy that we stopped in here and definitely recommend. The interior is really cool and industrial. The weather/temperature outside was nice so they had the garage doors open and it was lovely to have fresh air streaming in. read more

I wish I got the bartender's name because she was so sweet and took great care of us. My friend and I came in for drinks and some charcuterie, not expecting much for the night. But our bartender was able to give us helpful recommendations based on our preferences and I got the Jack Rose cocktail, which was perfect for someone like me who isn't a big drinker and just wanted something pleasant to sip on. Our charcuterie board consisted of a nice variety of salami, cheese and grapes with small dishes of garlicky pickles, jam and the most interesting and delightful smokey almonds I've ever had. I'm can't quite remember if this is how they tend to prepare their charcuteries or if she tailored it to our drinks but it was wonderful and I'll trust her with any board she makes! Ambiance-wise I would say the bar is a good balance of chatter and music, and much more toned down than the restaurant next door. Decor is tasteful and interesting. However, the washrooms are your standard bar washrooms which are... yeah. Would definitely come back just for those smokey almonds tho! read more

This is a pretty nice, fairly calm yet bustling bar in the heart of Vancouver downtown, in close proximity to a few more bars and pubs and a nightclub, so it is a good place to get some drinks in and start the night away. We were a party of 4 and walked in on a Saturday night, and of course, we got turned away (but we eventually got seated). They do not take waitlist in the weekends which is a bit strange because, if there is no waitlist available, we could have just waited outside. The -1 star is because of this strange system + refusing to give an accurate wait time, since they said the tables could be a few minutes or a few hours wait because they don't know when the people are done, but I saw a group wrapping things up. The 2 of us decided to go in first and got seated since there was availability, and fortunately, the table next to us (group of 4) was done so they were able to call over my other friends to join in. We got the weekly special (Jasmine), Danish Summer, and Irish Goodbye. The Jasmine is fairly fruity and flowery. The Danish Summer is a very smooth drink even though it is one of the stronger concoctions on the menu. The Irish Goodbye was a bit more bitter and stronger to drink, though I suppose the alcohol content to be similar to that of the Danish Summer. Service is pretty okay. We got water and cocktails in a timely manner, but when we wanted to get the check and water refills, it took a very long time and to the point the table next to us felt bad and lended us some water from their table. read more

Very nice place to just relax and have a cocktail. Friendly and efficient service. Will visit again on my next trip.

Came based on a recommendation and we really enjoyed the vibes and atmosphere, not too casual without being too formal. Lots of gin based cocktail options, with a lot of different cocktail variety available as well. Great music while still allowing all the patrons to talk, will come back for sure. read more

Cozy spot that's great for chilling out for the night. From the outside it's not impressive, so I would not have known to walk in unless a friend had suggested we meet there. Dimly lit with a relaxing vibe. Classic cocktail menu. The old fashioned was exactly as expected. And the bartender (maybe manger?) was so nice and talked to us about beer, whiskey and gin. He even shared a sample of a favorite. read more

Definitely a hidden gem in downtown Vancouver! It's smaller and quieter than the adjoining pub, but that's what makes this bar special. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting -- good for both a casual night out with friends or an intimate evening with your significant other. Service was on point. Everyone was friendly, in a way that was genuine and easygoing, making my friend and I feel right at home. I came here for the cocktails, and they did not disappoint. First, I tried the Island Gold -- pineapple lemongrass cordial, rum, sparkling wine, lime juice, and Thai basil. They nailed the tropical flavour profile without making the drink overly sweet. It was the perfect summer send-off. I also got the Café con Leche, which combined cold brew, tequila, bitters, and dulce de leche syrup. Honestly, it was the best coffee-flavoured cocktail I've had. The drink was so rich and smooth! Writing about it is making me crave another. Happy hour was ongoing when I arrived, so I took advantage and ordered a special food item. The two piece battered fish tacos were a great small plate option. Cod was fried perfectly; the batter was crispy, yet light, and inside the fish was tender and flaky. Didn't really taste the salsa verde, but I wasn't too hung up on that because the slaw provided enough brightness/acidity and texture contrast. With so many food and drink options downtown, I haven't had a go-to spot before. I think the 515 Bar will fill that void. I'm looking forward to returning here and exploring the rest of the menu. Cheers! read more

A nice cocktail lounge for small groups or even going solo. Sat at the bar solo and had a nice bartender explaining all the drinks and even providing samples when he made a bit extra. Really cool to see cocktail making at work! The've got a regular selection of cocktails and then a secret book from the top as well. Go ahead and challenge the bartender with an obscure request =). read more

Cute cocktail bar downtown! My friends and I found 515 and luckily a group was leaving as we were coming in on a Friday night so we didn't have a wait. They do allow for reservations if you want to avoid having to wait. The interior has about 10 tables, so it's pretty cozy inside. There's a large neon light art piece that shrouds everything in a warm, pink light that adds to the ambience. The drink menu has a variety of mixed drinks with different liquors, including virgin cocktails. My friends and I enjoyed the drinks we got, and I especially enjoyed the paloma. The server made sure to come by to ask if we wanted to grab more drinks or anything else, and it was pretty easy to grab his attention. We didn't try the food but we appreciated having the option. Overall, a cute place to grab drinks with friends or a date! Would love to come back. read more

Great bar! Drinks were delish and servers were solid. I would definitely go again. Highly recommend!

Very cool little place on Seymour, staff are awesome and knowledgeable. Drinks and small bites are very much on point! Add it to your list!

A hidden gem of a bar, with friendly hard-working and knowledgeable boss and staff. The cocktails are to-die-for and reasonably priced and the nibble-food is great and substantial. We count our lucky stars that we were staying in Gastown and on our way back-home from the Art Museum. May 515 live long and prosper. read more

Amazing place! Stumbled on it on a weekend trip to Vancouver. Great staff, awesome cocktails and amazing music! Enjoyed it so much we went back a second night -- playing name that tune to great (and obscure) 80s songs from Wire, Pylon, ESG, B52s and more. Highly recommend! read more

Nice atmosphere and as a French man, I enjoyed being able to have a good old Pastis with my good old French buddies

The drinks here are great. I ordered the 515 and the Jamaican and they were delicious. We ordered calamaria and it was good but not great. The service was excellent. They were very friendly and sincere. The ambiance is casual and there isn't much seating,, so best to make a reso. I would definitely come back here for cocktails cause as I stated they were very good. A good place to start or end the night read more

I joined Yelp to provide this review. The 515 Bar is one of the two best bars we've visited in the past twenty years (the other being the Velveteen Rabbit in Las Vegas). The basics: The drink menu is comprehensive and reasonably priced. The locale is intimate, and not so loud as to harm a good conversation. The service is exceptional. Period. Full Stop. What distinguishes the 515 is the bartender's knowledge. We visited on two separate nights, and sampled five different drinks from the menu. All were excellent. The real pleasure was when we ordered off-menu. I like gin, so I often ask bartenders to create something unusual. (By way of comparison, a very famous bar in Las Vegas simply poured me a variant of a Greyhound, which takes all the skill of a typical fifth grader). Christopher at 515 asked if I was OK with bitters. I said yes, and he brought out a Grand Street, a classic New York cocktail. The alchemical skills themselves merit a visit, but I want to add something that Christopher shared with us. He made a point that often great bartenders want the guests to focus on the bartender and their skills rather than the overall bar experience. He's right. Expertise breeds arrogance. What you get at 515 is different. Exceptional drinks, and a bartender and staff that are confident to step back and let you draw the pleasure of the drinks, the ambiance, the company, and the music (from Galaxie 500 to Lou Reed to Spacemen3). The 515 merits my highest review, and I look forward to visiting it whenever we are in Vancouver. read more
