Great happy hour menu and drinks. Food was delicious so were their cocktails. Really enjoyed their grilled prawns. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Love the atmosphere! A great spot for happy hour!

I've been here at least twice in the past month. We like it because it has a good happy hour menu, it's laid-back, and has quality food and service. And this last visit didn't disappoint. The space has changed a few times over the past few year, previously being a bakery and a vegan restaurant. it's nice two high ceiling room that looks elegant and welcoming. We had reservations, which is recommended because it does get busy. We were seated immediately. We sampled the following: - Whipped Burrata & Prosciutto - Very good. Can't go wrong with burrata, but whipped burrata is even better for spreading on bread. Their focaccia is perfectly heated/grilled. Just the right amount of prosciutto. - Steamed Clams - Good. Small though. - Duck Wings - Good flavour. Small serving of four pieces. - Harissa Carrots - Very good. Looks a bit overcomplicated with all the ingredients, but it works well. - Braised Beef Cheek - Excellent. Beef cheeks is ultra tender. Delicious dish I will order again and again. Service was very good. Friendly and attentive, and know how to come in and out with interruption conversations. Overall, another great meal. Happy hour pricing makes it reasonably priced, matched with great service and a great atmosphere.

Ambience - 10/10! Love the high ceilings, beautiful paintings, dark intimate atmosphere. Service - 10/10. Attentive service and very friendly staff! Drinks - initial cocktail orders were okay. Ordered a margarita because description said "apple pie syrup" but it didn't taste unique at all. We really like the "passionate" squad shots $4/24! Food - dessert was on the house for someone's bday. It was a chocolate mousse? But overall, food was pretty underwhelming. Shrimp was peeled which our party found annoying because flavour was good but we either had to go in and peel it ourselves or we were chewing on hard, sharp peel. The focaccia bread was, what we thought was burnt. I ate mine and my friend left her burnt piece. Restaurant told us after its on purpose and cooked with charcoal & we could've asked for bread that was less cooked. Duck legs were good. Glad we got these at happy hour and not full price. Surprisingly, the table beside us leaned over and asked if we liked our food and we said it's okay, and they said they thought the food is kind of "disgusting" (which is a stretch.) however, someone else on my ig reached out & shared the same sentiment that they were abit disappointed with the food and had high hopes. I would go back if someone suggested it, or go back and stick to drinks! Recommend you try it out for yourself and see if it meets expectations because other people's reviews seem pretty high!

Been here quite a few times now so figured it's time for a review. Love the ambiance and the fact it's outside of downtown. Mainly come here for drinks so I can't really speak about the food but the bartenders are friendly and engaging. I also like trying their new conceptions/deceptions and last time we had the five orange pips, negroni special and a broad idea. Each drink estetically were amazing and tasted just as good as they looked. Great place for a date or to catch up with friends. Highly recommend coming here and will be back again soon!

The food and service was great, central location on Main Street. Sat on the patio which was really nice except for one particularly annoying bee, inside looked quite nice as well. Definitely will return!

I was so thrilled to see a new bar in town and the Watson did not disappoint! I arrived just before happy hour ended so just in the knick of time i was able to enjoy the cheaper drinks and food. My friend and i both ordered the strawberry margs for $10 - nowadays i'd consider that a good price - was the perfect cool and refreshing drink! For food, i got the whipped burrata - it came with prosciutto and a nice light toast. it was amazing!! My friend ordered the prawns and absolutely loved it too. The interiors of this place are stunning and the service was wonderful. Will defs be back to try more of their menu :)

perhaps it was the awesome weather, the wonderful company and most def the high ceilings - the watson is def going to be highlight for me for 2024. foodie trio again, and s and i arrived early - we were able to catch the last bits of hh! the decor is modern yet retro - i see that they were channeling dr. watson vibes at the bar area, and the upstairs area is quaint - perfect for a small gathering/party! we were seated right away, and our server, leo (i snagged the name frm my receipt LOL) was VERY attentive. he assisted us with the menu, recommendations, washroom directions - you name it! he was a delight to have! s and i started with some hh nibbles - the whipped burrata and prosciutto. the house focaccia was charred nicely with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. i found the burrata to be on the saltier side but s loves cheese so who am i to complain! the bomba tho - the antipasto that could! it added a nice kick to the dish - not too much cuz s can't handle too much spice - and it was so good that we kept the little dish of it to munch on thruout the night. for drinks, s had the house red and i had the twisted revolver. the twisted revolver was boozy yet there was a nice hint of cinnamon and musty/wood aftertaste. by the time we finished the burrata, a arrived and there was a last call for hh - s and i fumbled and ordered a pencillin for her plus the duck wings. a said the pencillin, with its ginger foam, reminded her of ginger beer/moscow mule - two of her favs. the duck wings were saucy and delish - a and i are used to having the duck wings in a more chinese fashion, and the watson's spin is with gochujang - korean chili paste - which was a nice change to our palate. we then went from 0 to 10 with our ordering - we ordered the harissa carrots, wild mushroom toast, shishito peppers and the roast 1/2 chicken. i ordered my 2nd drink as well - the royal tea, which reminded me of a spiked ribena bubble tea due to the cassis caviar. i did have another refreshing french 75 with the fords dry gin - i was determined to have all the gin on the list (there were only 2 that i havent tried) but alas, the sipsmith gin was not available for my tasting ): now the food! the small plates are def enough to share btwn the 3 of us. we had the shishito peppers and wild mushroom toast arrive first. the shishito peppers were charred nicely and the romesco added another level of heat to the dish - s found some of the peppers to be too spicy but a and i loved it. we kept the romesco on the table - we have a thing for sauces/dips ok?! the wild mushroom toast was OVERLOADED with mushrooms - def a brunch dish but we devoured it anyway! the white wine and fine herbs that went into the mushroom mixture made the concoction that much more flavourful. the house sourdough held its own for the base of the dish - it did not get too soggy nor did it fall apart! onwards to the harissa carrots and roast chicken. we added feta to the carrots, and honestly, i personally like carrots but im sure this dish will make anyone that hates them love them again! the hummus, yogurt, za'atar and pomegranate - it creates a wonderful symphony of flavours in your mouth. the carrots were roasted nicely - caramelized surface but the crunch was still there. it complement the roast chicken VERY nicely. the roast chicken was juicy and tender, the mediterranean vegetables and tomatoes - you need to have the spice yogurt! we were thoroughly stuffed by the end of it, and we're looking forward to coming again to check out the other dishes/drinks!

Happy hour: Whipped burrata and focaccia, olives and the vesper martini
    Rebecca S.

Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon around 4pm. There were only a few other people there so we got seats right away. The atmosphere is super modern, dark and moody.....loved it. Our waiter brought us water right away and was very attentive. The happy menu was so great, had some amazing items that we really wanted to try. Must haves: the harissa carrots. You know a place can make carrots taste amazing, that this is a place worth going to! They were spicy, the tahini hummous and pops of pomegranate were just amazing. The burrata and home made focaccia with romesco was also sooooo good. We got the spicy olives and they were yummy. My absolute favorite drink was the barrel aged vesper. I had two because they were so good. It hit all the right notes, a touch of lemon, sweetness, saltiness. It was too easy to drink! We also got the Red dress which I had heard a lot about, but I wouldn't get it again. It was sort of like mulled wine but cold. All in all, I will definitely be back to this cute new little drink bar!

    Desserts are very good.

Friendly service and ambiance was really good. We had tasty deserts and drinks. Great place to hang out with a big group. Outdoor patio was really nice and interior design felt very classy.

Great service amazing ambience. Jordan was incredibly kind and attentive. We didn't have food but the menu looked amazing, we will come back for sure!

Wow, this building has really changed. It has been various businesses, but this makeover is stupendous. I went in during the evening, and it was beautiful. I love the black theme, and the overall darkness. It was quite busy in the evening on Saturday but we were able to snag a table around 9pm. The drinks that we ordered were good. It was a small menu and I found one drink I particularly liked and ordered it a few times. I only drink three spirits, mainly gin and vodka and so I found the menu was very limited for me. We ordered on small and appi and it was really good. So overall, it was good, and I wouldn't mind going back, but Bartholomew and Keefer Bar are still my top two.

Absolutely love the Watson! Fantastic atmosphere, unique cocktails and delicious food, you don't want to miss trying this hot spot on Main Street. The happy hour is the best in the city. Sit at the bar, you won't regret it. This is an upscale mixologist offering with a inviting neighbourhood vibe. Each drink is handcrafted with attention to layers of excitement for your palette. The kitchen staff is producing imaginative and satisfying plates that are generous and encourage you to try something new. Staff are amazing.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

Didn't taste very fresh and the orange vinaigrette sauce didn't do anything to help it. The jasmine rice balls were an interesting touch. Wouldn't recommend Shishitos and cauliflower ($14) - the cauliflower florets were nice but the shishitos were lacking that snap you get (it was a bit soggy). Wouldn't recommend Steamed Bao bun with butter prawn masala ($21) - this was one of the highlights of the night. The butter masala went so well with the Bao bun and it soaked up that sauce perfectly. Loved the snap from the shrimp but wish there was more of it dispersed throughout the dish. Definitely get this dish Crab satay ($19) - this dish was weird... The crab was misled by the flavour of the peanut sauce and it just didn't work well together as a dish. Each component was fine on its own but nothing worked together. The cabbage salad felt like just an afterthough. Would not recommend. Sweet and sour pork belly ($16) - this dish was also interesting - it felt more like just a crispy pork belly. That's it. The sweet and sour sauce felt non- existent. There needed to be another punch in this dish to make it more complete. Wouldn't recommend Sea bass ($37) - this dish was great. Loved the texture of the sea bass. The potato gnocchi was a nice touch and that Goan curry sauce went really well with everything. Wouldn't order again Beef Kad Pra kao ($29) - this was another miss. The beef wasnt chewy but it lacked flavour. It needed more basil in it to bring out the flavour. Nothing about this dish impressed. Wouldn't order again Dubai chocolate bar ($17) - absolutely delicious. Loved the crispness of the chocolate crumb offset by the softness of the dense pistachio creme and the chocolate ganache. The little bits of the rose petals gave it that essence that it needed. It wasn't overly sweet. Would get this again Overall quite a few missed and some great dishes. The serving sizes are appropriate for the price. The service was great and not overbearing. Definitely try the steamed bun, the sea bass and the Dubai chocolate bar. My biggest issue with the dishes were that the garnished were almost the same for every dish. I understand it's for the pop of colour but it was so repetitive and didn't add any value to the fish other than the pop of colour (the green shoots and the red radish). I had the spiced Guatemalan carajillo it was pretty smooth and not too sweet. I would want to try their other drinks as they have quite an extensive menu.

Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

The slight heat from the sauce was perfect in cutting through the richness of the meat. - Chicken fried maitake - The coating was very flavourful but we found the the seasoning a bit too heavy. - Scallops - They were fresh and sinfully delicious with the sauce. - Sunchoke Dumplings - A dish with simple ingredients but it was easily the most flavour rich and balanced dish of the evening. - Hunters Chicken - I like that both dark and white meats were served on the dish. Although I generally stay away from white poultry meat but all the pieces were tender and juicy. The seasoning was a bit on the saltier side for us though. - Hay - The custard dish was interesting and we were told it's been the most popular dessert offering since the restaurant doors opened. It reminds me of a deconstructed tres leches cake from a restaurant on the North Shore years agar when I was hoping for a good piece of cake.

Caught up with a friend recently and we chose Parker Rooftop…read more The oysters were a definite improvement -- 95% shell-free, a huge step up from previous visits. We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. Truffle fries were indulgent and perfectly crisp, though the garlic aioli was milder than I prefer -- almost like straight mayo without a punch. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? Our server was attentive and charming, swooping in at just the right moments for round twos and top-offs, which made the experience that much smoother.

Gosh, we wanted to love this hotels food options so much after discovering the hotel itself…read morerecently. Sadly after visiting the rooftop twice for happy hour and once for dinner with an announced significant birthday number shared, and two breakfast's a three is all we can muster. It should be so much more, but the food lets down the entire experience. Our service was good, with delightful people helping our experience. That said service is slow, with details that should be spot on, not even evident. Water glasses left empty forever, promises made, not even brought up again. When the reservation was made a question was asked of an event for the dinner out. A 60th birthday was mentioned, acknowledged, and when sat by our server and nothing further. To be fair K would rather it all go by unannounced, but when it's all over the paperwork a small recognition should be there. The space itself, is not on a rooftop at all, but it's a beautiful high ceilings restaurant that deserves a far better kitchen. Our price fixe menu for two at $155 or so was definitely not worth the price at all. The steak was uniformly medium when med rare was the ask. There was a tiny bit of medium rare at one end, but the vast majority was medium or more. The torch of the butter on the steak, looked good from afar prior to our serving, but right in front of you looks almost comical. Our breakfasts were average at best, again service was ok, but the food was not where it should be, in fact not even close. We'd ponder staying at the hotel again due to location, but we'd not eat here.
