This place has been recommended to me by so many people. If you go to this place I highly recommend asking for a spot on the rooftop. It is absolutely stunning upstairs. If you are from L.A. it gives Abbot Kinney vibes. I ordered the Udon Carbonara and the Prawn fried rice. The Udon Carbonara was amaaaaaazing. The Miso Butter combined with the crispy big chunks of pork was so yummy. The prawn fried rice was okay. I wouldn't order again. The rice was a little dry and the scrambled egg was overcooked. It wasn't the worst but wasn't the best. I also ordered the passionfruit margarita and classic margarita. Both were delicious and had a more than healthy pour of tequila in it. When I come back I'll be ordering the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini just because I saw so many tables had this drink on their table. It must be good if so many people ordered it. I'd definitely come here again and try some more items. Looking forward to coming back!

Stopped by for drinks and some yam fries. Drinks came promptly and were tasty. However the food took a while to arrive.

Halfway through our Large Fries ($10) - 4 stars. Thick, soft inside, nice light crisp outside. Mon lunch 2024-12-30

Decent lunch spot. We came here on a Monday during the holidays and couldn't get a reservation until 1pm the morning of. We showed up early around 12:30pm and the restaurant was mostly empty - not sure why we couldn't get an earlier table. When we did arrive, they didn't seem aware of the reservation at all, so again, not sure what was the purpose of it. COCKTAILS * Pink Diamond ($15) - 3 stars. Zesty & refreshing. Not super interesting. SHARES * Edamame ($10) - 4 stars. Good, nice flavor, a little kick of spice. * Large Fries ($10) - 4 stars. Thick, soft inside, nice light crisp outside. PLATES * Fried Chicken Sando ($24) - 3 stars. Lots of pickles, but plain (no sauce/fixings). Chicken was a little dry. Bun was soft but structurally sound. BOWLS * Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl ($24) - 4 stars. Pretty good, fresh ingredients.

Social is a lovely place in a very central location. If you're looking for drinks on their upstairs patio in the summer it is definitely the place to be. It is bright, airy and has tons of greenery and great music. However, if you're looking for a meal, this may not be the preferred choice. Although their service was great, the staff all seemed happy and upbeat, some of the food was lacking. Admittedly, the Social Dumplings were delicious, but the Bao Buns were just decent, and the cauliflower bites left much to be desired and were mostly left untouched at our table. Despite our food choices, I would come back for the great ambiance this place provides, the unique drinks, and the fantastic staff. The decor is a lot of fun too and merits some good Instagram worthy shots!

Excellent atmosphere and decor; loved the DJ on Friday (blend of Latin, House, and Hip-Hop), and solid food!

This place is wonderful! It's a super causal place that could be a date night spot as well. Love the various items they have on their menu. Definitely a lot of unique items. I loved my dish; however they did go over the top with the peanut butter. A bit less would've been nice.

    Bao buns - very good!

Cool restaurant inside and heard the patio is the place but thought this place was overhyped for sure. My girlfriend and snagged a spot at the bar after we were told it would be a 2 hour wait for a table. We tried a few different drinks and while they were pretty and fun they only tasted pretty good. We found the menu wasn't too exciting but had some fun items so we decided to stay for food as well. The bao buns were very good so we ordered entrees as well and after a long wait we were kinda disappointed for them. My friend got a quesadilla which was pretty dry and nothing special and my poke bowl was good but they put an excessive amount of fish eggs on top so it was a bit of a turn off for me and I'm not normally a picky eater. For a place this popular we were hoping for a bit more but was kinda disappointed. Wouldn't come back again.

If you're looking for a good time on a Friday night, come to social! Came in for my birthday dinner and I love the interior/patio, it's so nice and well decorated. The food here is so good, we basically got most of the shareable appies and it was all so delicious. The drinks are super tasty as well, loved the lychee sour and the mule. Didn't get the name of our server but she was so friendly and often checked in on us! I wanted to give her a shout out because she was a gem!

What a welcome addition to Commercial Dr., and to Vancouver's nightlife in general! I thought the cocktail menu was really cool (lots of unique options invoking childhood nostalgia). The food was good too, but I wished it was served a little warmer. I split the dumplings, cauliflower bites, and chicken karaage baos with my friend. Both of us agreed the dumplings were the best. Perfect ratio of filling to wrapper, and the creamy sauce served on the side was bomb! I have a low spice tolerance, so I also used that sauce to help counteract the heat from the gochujang on the crispy cauliflower bites, hehe. The baos were okay. To drink, I had the juicebox: a Vitasoy guava juicebox with a mini Smirnoff vodka bottle pierced through the top. Presentation was very cute and I love fruity cocktails, so this was right up my alley. Can't wait to go back and try more!

I like this place as a bar (haven't tried their food yet). It's a nice place and the 2nd floor just feels quieter and more chill than the other busier, louder spots all over commercial. Nice lighting and decor and general vibe. Staff was kind and the garden party cocktail was super refreshing, the passion fruit cocktail was good too.

We have been wanting to visit social ever since it got renovated and we got a chance to be there last weekend. Overall great food but since they are so busy all the time, they need to up their game with the service. We had a great hosts but the food service was really slow.

The place looks really cool, instagrammable, and cute! Their happy hour menu starts at $5 only! My favorite is the shrimp ravioli. The chicken karaage bun is good too. Just service just takes a little bit long.

Fast and quick service! Friendly staff! Food tasted great! Drinks were fun and creative! Dynamic changes as the night gets later! That will please some. Very fun place to go for weekend night out!

That said, considering the food is mostly pre-prepared and it wasn't busy, the wait was surprisingly long. We ended up going to another restaurant nearby. I'd come back for a glass of wine and the baguette bites, but not for a full dinner. It's just too slow. Given the simplicity of the dishes, the timing didn't quite make sense--especially since the bar service was fine and the server was very friendly. Initially perplexed,…read moresince our Uber dropped us off one block away, we had no idea where we were in the dark of the Canadian night. Surrounded by warehouses, did the driver want us to experience a "call of the wild?" However, Odd Society beckoned one block from the corner, and two seats were available at the strange bar. Strange because our view was blocked by a kind of ersatz plastic and wood wagon wheel blocking our view of the servers and bar. It was reminiscent of Utah's Zion Curtain. Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Abby and Colin, our servers, were charming, fun, and educational, answering my questions, which became increasingly inane as the alcohol took effect. The distillery also mixes fantastic cocktails, and mine, named Midori, was friggen unbelievable. I had two of them along with my liquor tasting. My Midori was made with a special concoction called Portuguese Sweet Milk, or something like that. It was amazing. I want one for breakfast. The fun kept coming, and I didn't want to leave. Alas, we had reservations at Lunch Lady up the street. We should have stayed at Odd Society. Lunch Lady was a disappointment. Try Odd Society out as both a distillery and cocktail bar. You won't be disappointed about either one.

In summary, the place was ok, but noticed after the fact that we were overcharged for the drinks. It's a small space - about 3 high tables, one lower one, each seating 4 to maybe at most 5 people, plus a bar. I reserved a table for the 2 of us at 3:30 pm on a Sunday (earliest reservation they had as they open at 3 pm) and we were seated at 3 pm. They checked our vaccine passports and then seated us. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.
