We stopped into Keefer Bar and immediately got that dim, moody, apothecary-style vibe it's known for. Low lighting, a hum of conversation, and a crowd that clearly shows off the bars popularity. We ordered a few of their cocktails including the Night of a Thousand Eyes, their take on an espresso martini, which had a rich coffee and caramel kick without going overly sweet. Other favorites included the antidote, and the pineapple daiquiri, which was bright and refreshing. Each drink had a distinct personality and were delicious and well balanced in their own ways. We also tried some dim sum, which honestly could've been an afterthought but wasn't. The shrimp spring rolls stood out the most. Crisp on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside, and not greasy. They paired really well with the drinks and felt like more than just bar snacks. Service kept things moving and the energy stayed high throughout. It's easy to see why they've been a highly celebrated bar for several years!

Checked out The Keefar Bar for a weekday happy hour (4-6pm, Sunday-Friday). They're a few doors down from Bao Bei. We were given a table for 90 min. Would recommend reservations. Service was good; our waitress came by several times. $6.00 to $8.00 drinks and 50% off bar snacks & dim sum. - Pineapple daiquiri ($8.00 HH) - Rubi dream ($8.00 HH) - Rosemary gimlet (6.00 HH) - Antidote ($8.00 HH) - Bar snack trio ($6.00 HH) - spicy marinated cucumbers, olives and nuts. Standard - XLB ($6.50 HH) - not much broth, thin wrappers - Siu mai ($6.50 HH) - decent - Sam gu gaau ($6.50 HH) - okay - Basa roll ($6.50 HH) - favourite of the dishes

Wandered into The Keefer Bar on a Saturday night. We waited for around 45 minutes before getting a table for 4. The bar is long with seating all along the back. Our server (Courtney) was really helpful as some of us were struggling to choose a drink. She was knowledgeable and gave many suggestions based on our preferences. They had some Lunar New Year specials that I really wanted to try, but unfortunately they were running out of ingredients for the drink. We started with 4 fountain shots. The shots for the 4 surprise cocktail shots are selected by the server/bartender. She shared that the fountain shots were a drink that I was considering ordering (durian colada). I was glad I settled on that drink as it ended up being really good! It had a strong hint of pandan and coconut, followed by hints of durian. This was a super fun and interesting drink (and strong)! The other members of the table also enjoyed their respective drinks. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the flavour as I did not enjoy the booze forwardness of some of them. Pricing is extremely fair...or maybe because I just came back from a trip to the States (currency exchange ouch). I would love to come back to try some other drinks!

In one word, magical. not only is the venue so cool! I love all of the red lighting and all of the apothecary nods throughout. Even the fact the menu is laid out as prescription. Prescriptions is really fun. They have seasonal cocktails that they make, and then they have alumni cocktails that were great hits. They also have a great happy hour that's 50% off their dim sum and snack items which is such a deal for what you get! I got the mushroom truffle hargow and the barbeque pork steamed buns and they're both delicious and came with this yummy sauce on the side. I tried heart of stone, which is a cocktail. I'm going to fantasize about for a long time and then I also tried Tokyo drift, which was a really cool riff on an old-fashioned. The bartender was also an absolute delight! She was super knowledgable and great at walking me through the menu and leading me towards a cocktail that I would enjoy, always there when you needed her. I will come back to this place every time I come back to Vancouver.

The Keefer bar was our first stop when getting into Vancouver, and we were excited to make it in time for happy hour. The waitress was nice and just attentive enough to our table without interrupting our conversations. Their happy hour is such a steal, and we tried both their food and drink options. They made it clear whe last call was, and they allowed us to order a couple more drinks and food at the special price. The espresso martini with sesame was my favorite, bringing a slight Asian twist to the popular cocktail. The eggrolls were also better than expected, and had a perfect crunch to it. Would probably skip on the cauliflower since it's a different and smaller type of cauliflower than normally seen for vegetarian dishes. I really liked hanging out at this bar for a couple hours before our dinner reservation nearby. And the Chinese medicinal decor was intriguing and unique.

Strong drink that are well made. Got the vodka based ones and all were excellent. Very red and dark. Felt like an underground venue with Chinese letters and acupuncture pictures everywhere. Fun vibes here and excellent drinks.

My local tour guide aka my gf thought we'd stop by for a few drinks after a lovely evening at a jazz club. When we walked in, we were told that the wait time was going to be 30m but then it ended up being 5m as another party had cleared their bar seats. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Bar seats are always the best seats in the house because you can order your drinks 2 in a row so that you're not waiting for the second to come. The vibes were great with lively music and other patrons enjoying dinner/drinks as well. I love that it's themed like a pharmacy/ medical center and the menu follows that theme. You cannot go wrong with any drink on the menu. It's truly tailored to your choice of drink. We went with spring prescriptions and alumni prescriptions. We had a great time and it's definitely a place we'll go back to in the future

Ambiance is great! We visited on a Wednesday around 8pm and were seated at the bar right away. A DJ started playing around 9pm too. All drinks were so yummy! Highly recommend Night of A Thousand Eyes if you like coffee cocktails & sesame. Overnight Crush is also very sweet and refreshing. Would definitely come back to try more!

One of the bars in the Top 50 Best Bars in North America list, this place deserves the accolades. We walked in as a party of 2 for happy hour which is the most recommended time to go because everything is about 50% off regular pricing. The cocktails are a tid bit smaller, but that is fine because that allows you to try more variety of drinks! Cocktails are 6-8CAD, and bar snacks and dim sum are 50% off. These cocktails are some of the well loved cocktails in the regular drink list that ranges 16-18CAD, so you are in for a deal! We got: - Pineapple daiquiri - a bit sweet, refreshing - Antidote - one of my favorites, smoky and fruity yuzu notes - Rosemary gimlet - good for 6CAD, would not really go out of my way to order this - Night of a thousand eyes - my favorite, a black sesame flavored espresso martini - Sweet & sour sour - has a ketchup chip chicharron that is interesting, quite tangy in fruity and sweet & sour smell. Tastes interesting, this is off the regular menu - Chinese donut & dip - an intersection of Chinese and Argentinian flavor profile with the chimichurri like sauce. Very good and even better of a deal during happy hour at 4CAD post-discount Service is good as the server checks up on you periodically and refills water consistently. They do have a rule of maximum 2 happy hour drinks or 1 regular cocktail per person at any given time to avoid overserving, just a heads up if you do decide to show up at the tail end of happy hour so you won't be surprised if you can't frontload order everything for the value before happy hour ends.

Really liked that the Keefer is one of those places where the industry people aka chefs, servers and food service friends hang out after work. I've heard continuous recommendations as a must visit / best bar in the city sayings in the past few years and can confirm - decent vibes all around. We were considered lucky to have gotten a small table for 3 on arrival - the server noted that the table is reserved and will need to be returned within the hour. All of us ordered from the staffs recommendations, assessed based on flavours and tasting notes we liked. The menu is quite expansive and difficulty was high to select something to try! I thought my drink (Fantasy Island) was a bit more on the mellow side, not as sweet as I imagined, and not punchy dry. Just about the same feedback from others and confirmed after sips of their drinks. In general, something felt missing that would fully tie all the flavors together in each drink. Nonetheless, presentation was on point across the board. We were also offered a last call / call for round 2 minutes (literally minutes) within getting our first drink... to which was quite silly! There were also other tables that were empty for the full duration of our visit, up to when we left that could've well fitted a party of our size. In an urgency to leave, our experience was less enjoyable than what it could've been, happy to have been offered to swap a table (?) to extend the stay, go for another round of sips and snacks, potentially. With other options a mere walking distance away, we were happy to move on.

This place gets quite busy on the weekend nights & when they serve their happy hour menu. We lucked out when we strolled in with no reservations on a Tuesday night around 7. Dimly lit room well suited for drinks & small bites. It was nice ambiance for a date I think. My party tried a few of their dishes. Sichuan Chicken Baos - the chicken was fried nicely and Baos soft, light and ideal for the protein to carb ratio. I just they was more pickled onions though. Taiwanese Cauliflower - slightly darkened cauliflower coupled with few slices of our favorite Chinese sausage ( the lap cheong) . I quite enjoyed this. KiLawin Ceviche - this was a bit pineapple/chip heavy as I found myself disappointed with how little tuna there actually was. I would pass on this one if I had a retry. Drinks wise, tried the Pineapple Daiquiri. This was good. Albeit on the small side. Partner also had the Tokyo Drift. He classified it as more bitter. Place was nice enough for a return but I'd try for happy hour to dip your toes in.

Drinks. Thousand eyes and pineapple daiquiri.

We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

We sat indoors with the option to be seated outdoors with heated lamps but we didn't want to smell the smoke from people smoking outside. We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks. Service is decent and in line with other restaurant bars. Overall, solid drinks at okay prices that I can see myself recommending this spot. Food was good. We went during happy hour and I got their happy hour burger + fries ($16) and a creme brulee ($6). The burger and fries was solid - nothing super amazing, but got the job done! The creme brulee was really good and came at a great price. I like that they have a lot of specials like pasta nights (wish I would've stopped by on those nights!), wine special days, and pizza special days. Service was fine. A little slow, but it was nearing the end of the evening so I'm sure it's quicker when it's more lively!
