Food was very standard, not great but not bad. A little pricey for what you get and the whole restaurant was super dark and kind of loud. Not the best experience but not upsetting

This place is pretty good, I live close by and come here sometimes for Happy Hour. The food is ok, the service is usually pretty good and the food is alright. It's a pretty big place and there is free parking in the parkade............

Cactus club being very conveniently close to my hotel, i decided to give the happy hour a try. I ordered the steak & frites. The server was able to switch fries with brocoli which was grilled with flavor and texture. The steak? Well lets just say there was a sad violin movement upon cutting and it took a lot of chewing... i wouldnt recommend it even though it was cooked perfectly. The ambiance was very nice. Great for social gatherings and drinks!!

Cactus is my go to. Metro location is good, free parking and good, non pretentious vibe. I moved away from Burnaby, but I still see my self coming back to this location all the time. Server's are usually good. Nathan is a star!!!!

Had a very nice evening out here. Booked a table for six for my birthday. The restaurant was trendy. Music was good but not too loud. The service was great. We got there early to take advantage of the happy hour prices. A wide selection of appetizers, mains, drinks and desserts. We started with two orders of the tuna sushi, avocado dip and truffle fries. Each were around five dollars off the regular price. We also added one regular menu calamari (this was the underwhelming). The taste was great but for full price of $19. It was a small portion. We share between the six of us. The sushi came in six pieces perfect. Everything was great (forgot to take pictures). The mains came they were all good. The only disappointment was the happy hour chicken burger. Even though it came with fries the meat patty was a little thin. My blacken creole chicken was on the salty side but that is how it comes I loved it. It came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We were going to order dessert before the happy hour ended but the server told us she was going to comp that for my birthday. It was a fairly large dish, enough for two. Without drinks it came to under $180 for six. We even went home with some Togo boxes. Added bonus is the free parking in a building half a block away. Convenient and dry.

Floor had food from before sitting down until we left .. kinda sad

Decided to come back to our dependable happy hour spot .. got in without reservations after about a 15 minute wait.. wanted a patio window and got that as well.. super accommodating hosts .. order two Steak Frites .. mine came but bad veins galore but otherwise was good.. waitress came back with a new ice tea which was super nice .. quite busy but Cactus didn't disappoint .. only let down was the cleanliness

Usually go to Cactus Club at Bentall Centre, Bryne Road, or Coal Harbour but Boyfriend hadn't tried the Station Square location do we made a reservation for 7:45pm last Friday and got there on time with the free parking. We waited and saw several walk in's get seated before us, though most were seated at the lounge and not dining room. After about a 20 minute wait we were finally seated. Service was a bit lacking on this visit. The server was nice but she made small talk and paid more attention to the other tables - we finally got our waters refilled after our meal was finished but my Boyfriend got his coke automatically refilled. We ordered the new chili citrus calamari and it came within a few minutes of ordering. We had to wait awhile to flag someone down for side plates so it wasn't as hot or fresh once we dug in. My boyfriend liked that it wasn't rubbery in texture. I wished there was more spice in the batter and had fried garlic bits on top. For our mains, my boyfriend got the cheddar bacon burger and I got the crispy tofu bowl. Mains were solid, as usual. We had to wait awhile to flag our server for the bill and she finally asked us what we were up to. She was nice but like I said, service was a bit lacking starting with the 20 minute wait for our reservation, having to ask and wait for side plates and a water refill, and waiting to flag down to get the bill. It kinda dampened the vibes for Friday date night. Food is solid but the service at the other locations seem to be better and more consistent.

Jan 2025 Update - a few of us came here for the Dine Out Dinner. Even though it is one menu for lunch or dinner we found the dinner selection a great value. Food: 4/5 - most of us had the steak frites plus a Cajun Blackened Chicken. Overall we all enjoyed our meal. We all selected a different appt so we could all sample the different choices. The sushi was a hit. I wished my entree was hotter though. I don't like lukewarm food. Service: 4/5 - our server Ella was great. Friendly and made some good suggestions. We made reservations online which was good. Ambiance: 4/5 nice ambiance to the place. Comfortable seats. Great place to meet for any occasion.

It was so nice to rest and relax after shopping and to try some new dishes and beverages at Cactus Club Cafe at Station Square in Burnaby! New! Sugar-Free Margarita - zero sugar with all the flavour indeed! New! Chipotle Chicken Tacos with yam fries - love the pineapple and avocado crema Rob's Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries - crispy and juicy The Feenie Burger with fries Rigatoni Bolognese This location is great with bar and restaurant sections. We came here as a big group after the babies baptism. More than enough room for a big group. My boyfriend had a jalapeño margarita and it was spicy, delicious but spicy. For food I had the med bowl and it was delicious. All the fresh ingredients meshed well together, and the chicken was grilled perfectly. For a chain restaurant this food is really good. We went a little crazy with desserts for the table. The Keylime pie is delicious. The six layer chocolate slice is chocolate overload, but definitely amazing. And the New York cheesecake was amazing. The service was awesome. I'd definitely come back.

I visited several different locations and felt that for the most part, the food and service is good. The interior is modern and clean. I met up with a friend for lunch and decided on the shwarma chicken bowl with falafel. I felt that this was decent and a healthy dish. The beetroot hummus and the sauce were my favorite components to the dish. This dish is overpowered with lots of onions and garlic. I would consider coming back if I was in the area.

First I want to say that the food we ordered was alright, nothing to write home about but not really any complaints either besides the portion sizes for the pasta is small (pictured). We tried two of the pastas (rigatoni bolognese and the seafood one) + the burger + the sushi + wings/celery. Our main complaint is that to order a drink here our server told us we needed two forms of ID -- I've never been to a place that asked for two forms ever. Unfortunately I didn't have my physical credit/debit cards with me, since I normally pay everything contactless, so I wasn't able to order a drink. I don't want to sound like I *needed* a drink that day of course, but my friends and I have been to a different Cactus Club (Richmond) in early 2022, right when we turned 19, and never had a problem ordering. That day we had wonderful cocktails, and specifically came back to Cactus Club (we're not even from Canada!! lol) to try the Peach Bellini again. (Nowhere else have we seen this same type of frozen bellini, so you can understand our initial excitement.) So in summary, the food was alright, I was disappointed about not being able to order the drink that I've been looking forward to this entire trip, and .. probably won't be coming back next time I'm in Canada. On another note: The service was fine and the food came out in short time. The food and experience is where I'm giving the 3 stars.

Visiting folks in Burnaby. The Cactus Club is at a convenient location by the Metrotown. In a Thursday night, the place was super busy and we had a hard time finding a table online but the hostess was very kind and helpful. She was able to seat us after about 10 minutes wait. Classic cocktails, dozen or so local beers and a decent wine list. I wished they have some bubblies by glass. Service was quick and attentive. We ordered a range of menu items. They were ready under 10 minutes - solid kitchen there. Each dish was well prepared and a generous portion. It would have been challenging to do a round of appetizers in addition. The chicken burger was an instant favorite. It has a lot of flavor and a little heat. The prawn ravioli was rich. The Parmesan chicken and grilled salmon could be a bit better - a little overcooked. Overall we had a good experience and would come back for another casual group outing.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

Medium rare steak was tender(a bit chewy) the garlic scapes, hazelnut and frisée combination was excellent. i really enjoyed having together with meat. Overall, I really liked this restaurant. I would like to visit late night next time.

Full disclosure: I won a contest for a tour and tasting here…read more We sort of didn't know what to expect and had not been to the space save for walking by outside. What a great spot - I can envision sipping cocktails in the summer with the doors open, or inside in winter - very nicely done up by someone with an eye. The tour exceeded our expectations and took us into 2 other spaces not normally accessible including a cask room in the back that can be booked for small to medium sized groups. Our guide was the owner and we are curious science minded people so it was a great match. Jan is an excellent teacher and story-teller. The tasting really educated me but let's not mince words,.. it was also tasty! The final phase of the tour is to show you how to mix gins into cocktails with a little hands on mixology tutorial with batertender Ky. All told several samples, and cocktails were included - all amazing. All of the staff were great. It was just a really enjoyable afternoon and worth of a rare 5 stars! I think this place is a must stop for a day adventure from Vancouver to the Shipyards area. It should also be noted that these guys aren't kidding around: national and international spirit awards across the board with some really quality innovative (but not gimmicky) products here.

We sat indoors with the option to be seated outdoors with heated lamps but we didn't want to smell the smoke from people smoking outside. We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks. Service is decent and in line with other restaurant bars. Overall, solid drinks at okay prices that I can see myself recommending this spot. Given the name, it would be great to see more alchemy themed cocktails or decor as what draws me as a frequent bar goer is themed and unique drinks.

Low lighting, a hum of conversation, and a crowd that clearly shows off the bars popularity. We ordered a few of their cocktails including the Night of a Thousand Eyes, their take on an espresso martini, which had a rich coffee and caramel kick without going overly sweet. Other favorites included the antidote, and the pineapple daiquiri, which was bright and refreshing. Each drink had a distinct personality and were delicious and well balanced in their own ways. We also tried some dim sum, which honestly could've been an afterthought but wasn't. The shrimp spring rolls stood out the most. Crisp on the outside, juicy and flavorful inside, and not greasy. They paired really well with the drinks and felt like more than just bar snacks. Service kept things moving and the energy stayed high throughout. It's easy to see why they've been a highly celebrated bar for several years!

Prescriptions is really fun. They have seasonal cocktails that they make, and then they have alumni cocktails that were great hits. They also have a great happy hour that's 50% off their dim sum and snack items which is such a deal for what you get! I got the mushroom truffle hargow and the barbeque pork steamed buns and they're both delicious and came with this yummy sauce on the side. I tried heart of stone, which is a cocktail. I'm going to fantasize about for a long time and then I also tried Tokyo drift, which was a really cool riff on an old-fashioned. The bartender was also an absolute delight! She was super knowledgable and great at walking me through the menu and leading me towards a cocktail that I would enjoy, always there when you needed her. I will come back to this place every time I come back to Vancouver.
