Where do I start? WOW! I think that's a good place to start. My mother came to visit me from the states, and my husband and I wanted to take her to dinner. We decided on Cactus Club Cafe because of the menu. We walked in -- no reservations -- and were sat down almost immediately. Our waiter was super attentive. My mom ordered the salmon, I ordered the baja fish tacos and my husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The food was amazing. He asked if we were celebrating anything, and we kinda were, but that was not the reason for eating out. My mother was seeing me after a year. My PR had gone through this past December. My husband and I celebrated our first year of marriage on the eighth! We told him those were not the reasons for eating there though, but he gave us free desserts all the same, and while the dessert was too rich for me, my husband and mother devoured them, it was still so good! read more

I figured i'd post a review in regards to one of my favorite cactus clubs to visit. Been here countless times and love their happy hour menu, i've experienced it in the afternoon as well as late night. I ordered Steak Frites, i swapped out regular fries for Truffle fries, i requested medium rare closer to rare and they did not disappoint. Had to be healthy and wash everything down with hot water and lemon. Love this location because it's very lively and service is always amazing! All the staff are incredibly bubbly and conversational. Easy to get seats, make resos online or walk in. Free parking available .. restaurant is always super clean and ambiance has just the right amount of light and decor in my opinion. We were visiting Vancouver and decided to go there because it was walking distance from our hotel and the reviews were good. What a surprise and experience here! Run away from this place! Food and service are terrible! We waited to be sit down more than 30 minutes. when we did, they sat us in the middle of the room, which was super noisy. When I asked to be moved, the hostess an African American lady and our waitress, Summer were rude and both said that the only table available was one next to the one we were sitting, which wasn't true (there were many tables available by the windows. Then when Summer brought us glasses of water threw/pushed them toward us. When I told the manager, our experience he just put it under the rug...and said, "sorry to hear that." Had a very nice evening out here. Booked a table for six for my birthday. The restaurant was trendy. Music was good but not too loud. The service was great. We got there early to take advantage of the happy hour prices. A wide selection of appetizers, mains, drinks and desserts. We started with two orders of the tuna sushi, avocado dip and truffle fries. Each were around five dollars off the regular price. We also added one regular menu calamari (this was the underwhelming). The taste was great but for full price of $19. It was a small portion. We share between the six of us. The sushi came in six pieces perfect. Everything was great (forgot to take pictures). The mains came they were all good. The only disappointment was the happy hour chicken burger. Even though it came with fries the meat patty was a little thin. My blacken creole chicken was on the salty side but that is how it comes I loved it. It came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We were going to order dessert before the happy hour ended but the server told us she was going to comp that for my birthday. It was a fairly large dish, enough for two. Usually go to Cactus Club at Bentall Centre, Bryne Road, or Coal Harbour but Boyfriend hadn't tried the Station Square location do we made a reservation for 7:45pm last Friday and got there on time with the free parking. We waited and saw several walk in's get seated before us, though most were seated at the lounge and not dining room. After about a 20 minute wait we were finally seated. Service was a bit lacking on this visit. The server was nice but she made small talk and paid more attention to the other tables - we finally got our waters refilled after our meal was finished but my Boyfriend got his coke automatically refilled. We ordered the new chili citrus calamari and it came within a few minutes of ordering. We had to wait awhile to flag someone down for side plates so it wasn't as hot or fresh once we dug in. My boyfriend liked that it wasn't rubbery in texture. I wished there was more spice in the batter and had fried garlic bits on top. For our mains, my boyfriend got the cheddar bacon burger and I got the crispy tofu bowl. Mains were solid, as usual. We had to wait awhile to flag our server for the bill and she finally asked us what we were up to. She was nice but like I said, service was a bit lacking starting with the 20 minute wait for our reservation, having to ask and wait for side plates and a water refill, and waiting to flag down to get the bill. Jan 2025 Update - a few of us came here for the Dine Out Dinner. Even though it is one menu for lunch or dinner we found the dinner selection a great value. Food: 4/5 - most of us had the steak frites plus a Cajun Blackened Chicken. Overall we all enjoyed our meal. We all selected a different appt so we could all sample the different choices. The sushi was a hit. I wished my entree was hotter though. I don't like lukewarm food. Service: 4/5 - our server Ella was great. Friendly and made some good suggestions. We stayed out here this time and what did we find, another Cactus Club. We couldn't resist and got dinner and drinks there after our show at Rogers. Their Sangria and Old fashioned just hit the spot and you can't go wrong with their steaks, they are just delicious. We also love the calamari, fish tacos, lemongrass salad and med bowl. We came here as a big group after the babies baptism. More than enough room for a big group. My boyfriend had a jalapeño margarita and it was spicy, delicious but spicy. For food I had the med bowl and it was delicious. All the fresh ingredients meshed well together, and the chicken was grilled perfectly. For a chain restaurant this food is really good. We went a little crazy with desserts for the table. The Keylime pie is delicious. The six layer chocolate slice is chocolate overload, but definitely amazing. And the New York cheesecake was amazing. I visited several different locations and felt that for the most part, the food and service is good. The interior is modern and clean. I met up with a friend for lunch and decided on the shwarma chicken bowl with falafel. I felt that this was decent and a healthy dish. First I want to say that the food we ordered was alright, nothing to write home about but not really any complaints either besides the portion sizes for the pasta is small (pictured). We tried two of the pastas (rigatoni bolognese and the seafood one) + the burger + the sushi + wings/celery. Our main complaint is that to order a drink here our server told us we needed two forms of ID -- I've never been to a place that asked for two forms ever. Unfortunately I didn't have my physical credit/debit cards with me, since I normally pay everything contactless, so I wasn't able to order a drink. I don't want to sound like I *needed* a drink that day of course, but my friends and I have been to a different Cactus Club (Richmond) in early 2022, right when we turned 19, and never had a problem ordering. That day we had wonderful cocktails, and specifically came back to Cactus Club (we're not even from Canada!! lol) to try the Peach Bellini again. (Nowhere else have we seen this same type of frozen bellini, so you can understand our initial excitement.) So in summary, the food was alright, I was disappointed about not being able to order the drink that I've been looking forward to this entire trip, and .. probably won't be coming back next time I'm in Canada. Visiting folks in Burnaby. The Cactus Club is at a convenient location by the Metrotown. In a Thursday night, the place was super busy and we had a hard time finding a table online but the hostess was very kind and helpful. She was able to seat us after about 10 minutes wait. Classic cocktails, dozen or so local beers and a decent wine list. I wished they have some bubblies by glass. Service was quick and attentive. We ordered a range of menu items. They were ready under 10 minutes - solid kitchen there. Each dish was well prepared and a generous portion. It would have been challenging to do a round of appetizers in addition. The chicken burger was an instant favorite. It has a lot of flavor and a little heat. The prawn ravioli was rich. The Parmesan chicken and grilled salmon could be a bit better - a little overcooked. Cactus is such an accommodating place. We often come here after work for happy hour and they're able to seat our large group of 16! They also put out a touching card for our colleagues annniversry. Their menu selection for happy hour is extensive and reasonably priced. My fave happy hour drink is the Bellini of course. The best in the city! read more

I came here with a friend for lunch. I got my usual cajun chicken burger with truffle fries. The burger was super delicious and I have to say it tasted way better than the other Cactus locations. Cactus club never disappoints. There are free parking at Station Square. Service was great as well. The Cajun chicken in the burger was very juicy. I go to Cactus Club for one thing and one thing only.. the blackened creole chicken. It gives me brain worms like no other. My soft mouth ascends into an out-of-body euphoric state with every bite of chicken and mashed potato. It is tender, bursting with flavour, and simply amazing. The asparagus is whatever though lol -- not my preferred vegetable. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. This time I had the Dine Out menu though! $45 for a starter, main, and dessert -- what a steal! For the starter, my partner and I got the ravioli and prawn trio. For the main, steak frites. And for the dessert, New York cheesecake. And we also got the blackened creole chicken à la carte (see my review of it above..). The ravioli and prawn trio was good! Delicious sauce and filling, loved the addition of the sage leaf for some crunch and punch. Shrimps were small but as expected. This dish was giving, but I wouldn't get it outside of the Dine Out menu due to the $18 à la carte price for only three raviolis. The steak frites were okay. Fries crispy and delicious! Salad was really good -- loved the crispy chickpeas. Steak was a little tough but that's because of the cut. It felt kind of dry with no sauce or dip though. I didn't want to eat the white radish sauce provided (wasabi-like). Wouldn't get again. The cheesecake was just a regular cheesecake with raspberry compote. Very delicious, but not enough crust in my opinion -- I'd like double or even triple the amount! Service was great as usual for Cactus Club, although a bit slow near the end of our meal. We were visiting from out of town and stopped at Cactus Club for my partners birthday dinner. We are so happy we chose Cactus as the food and service were great! We were lucky to have Ghayass as our server and they were amazing! Very attentive and made our birthday celebration feel special. Huge shout out to Ghayass! Up from Seattle, at the last minute we decided to go to Cactus Club for HH! Luckily, being V Day and without a reservation, we were able to get two seats at the bar after about 10 minutes. From the time we sat down until we were leaving, we experienced exceptionally friendly service from everyone around us! Eeeeppp! This is a YIKES!! I came here for happy hour with a friend. And welp, I didn't expect a Cactus Club of all places to treat me THIS badly. I arrived around 4:00pm for a reservation and my friend arrived at 4:30pm a little bit late, but while I was waiting I had myself a sunset soda, because starting off the afternoon of course. But one thing that hit me the wrong way was the waitress, she just wasn't all there with us. And when she was there to talk with us, she was snarky or gave me that judgmental look. I felt quite offended already by just walking in having the staff judge the way I was wearing my clothes that day. My goodness... Anyways, I was sat at the high tables on the patio because it was a decent day, and it wasn't that busy as I looked around the dining hall and the patio area. There were maybe just 2-3 tables that was occupied. It was hard ordering between drinks as I was trying to get some bellinis and my friend was trying to get some more beers. I only had 3 bellinis for the night and my friend maybe 2 beers. I wanted more food, so I went and ordered my typical truffle fries, aburi and the mini chicken sliders. The food is the same, except the truffle fries that arrived at the table were cold. I bit it and it wasn't crunchy, but just luke warm. I tried to flag someone down, but it appears like no one works there.... Hrm. As we got the bill for the night, the waitress said that when we ordered the last round of drinks, which it clearly was not past 5:00pm, she charged us regular price for those. At that moment I was flabbergasted and was speechless. That literally topped over the tower of mess that was built already. I let it slide as I could care less about confrontation and she didn't tell us when the last call was for happy hour, whatever. I come to Cactus Club quite often as I even claimed the one at Lougheed my Cactus Club location. I just wanted to try the new location and the newly moved Cactus Club, and I get this type of service. My friend reserved for a group of 6 during happy hour time. We got a nice comfy seats at our table. I came a bit later than my other friends, and after a while the server came over to get my order. I decided to get "Spiked Frapp". The drink arrived with a straw, and definitely suit my taste. It was a bit hard to get the chocolate covered coffee as the straw hole is smaller than it. We ordered a few more drinks till happy hour ended. Server was very attentive, they checked once in a while if we need anything, and/or would like to order more. Although Cactus Club is a chain, some of them are definitely better than the others. This Cactus Club is definitely my current favourite. read more

I always know what to expect at Cactus Club, and the one at Metrotown is no exception. My friend and I came on Saturady around 4:30 and it was already hopping. We waited about 10-15 minutes before a table was available. There was plexiglass between all of the tables, and some tables weren't in use as well. The menus are all available online via a scanned barcode. I love that there are always new drinks on the menu each time I visit. Because we made it in time for happy hour (everyday 2-5 and Sunday-Thursday 9 pm to close), we ordered everything from the hh menu. I went with their new drink, the frozen paloma ($7.50). It was essentially a frozen grapefruit slushie with some tequila blended in. Personally, it was a little too bitter for me. I should've stuck with my go-to, the bellini. For food, I ordered the Jack Daniel's half rack of ribs for $21.50. I've never ordered ribs here because it's on the pricy side, but MAN they were good. The ribs were super tender and fell off the bone with just my fork. I didn't even need to break out my knife! They were a bit on the bland side since the main sauce / seasonig used was barbecue sauce. I asked for some salt, and once I added that, it was much better. My friend got one of the hh cocktails as well as the mini crispy chicken sandwich duo. The chicken sandwich here is one of his go-to's every time we go to Cactus Club, so I highly recommend that if you're looking for something to snack on! read more
