Second time ordering the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio so my partner could try it for the first time and it did not disappoint at this location either. My partner loved it. It was very flavourful, beautiful presentation, every item on the dish went together, and a generous portion. The Steak and Frites was good. We asked for medium rare and it was barely that (almost medium). The steak had good flavour, fries were good, and a very colourful dish. Service was a bit slow. Although we had reservations and the text message said allow up to 10 minutes to be seated, they weren't that busy, so not sure why it took them more than 10 minutes to seat us and take our order. There were other people waiting as well that asked when they would be seated because they were also wanting to order during Happy Hour. After we got seated, we were trying to get our Steak Frites order in before Happy Hour ended. I ended up looking for staff to put in my order despite telling the staff seating us that we'd like to order immediately. Patio area wasn't busy, so not sure why our waiter was MIA. The patio area was surprisingly quieter than we expected given it was on the Lougheed side. The music was at the perfect volume where we could still have a conversation or enjoy the music. read more

I recently had lunch at Cactus Club Cafe on March 8 and again on March 11 because I was craving their Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps -- yes, I went back twice! These wraps are absolutely delicious. The sweet and spicy Szechuan glaze combined with peanuts, crunchy wontons, Korean chili sauce, and spicy yogurt with chicken creates such a bold and satisfying flavour. The balance of sweet and heat is incredible -- every bite is packed with flavour. My son ordered the Steak Frites (8oz CAB® sirloin with kale salad, horseradish cream, and sea-salted fries), and he loved every well-seasoned bite. I also tried the Frozen Sangria Wine for the first time and it was refreshing and very tasty. For dessert, my son had his favourite -- the Chocolate Lava Cake with Tahitian vanilla ice cream. I had a few bites of the warm molten chocolate and wow... pure chocolate heaven! I ordered the Key Lime Pie, which was perfectly balanced -- light, refreshing, and not overly sweet, with a nice lime flavour and graham cracker crust. The service on both visits was excellent. Our servers were welcoming, attentive, and helped make both lunches a great experience. Definitely looking forward to my next visit. read more

I love Cactus Club. I said it. Had lunch with a friend recently, Med bowl is the perfect bowl for a midday work week lunch. It has everything, the chicken was moist, the dressing was rich, the cabbage slaw as easy as it is to make at home, it's just hits different when it's all assembled to perfection. The falafel balls were a tad dry, easily remedied by breaking it up and mixing it in. We had a long lunch and we were perfectly served with love by the staff. read more

going to be honest i had a very negative experience here with a young man working. he was being quite rude to me and his service was subpar. i come here a lot and was astonished by the negativity and lack of service. read more

In all honesty, I only frequented this place for a first date- which did not go well at all! The staff here were professional and caring both before and after the issues I ended with. I only had a cocktail and a glass of wine: the cocktail was made perfectly and arrived quickly, and the recommended wine was delicious! I'm bad at names, but I believe the gorgeous server who (if memory serves me) was called Diwa, was beyond exceptional in ensuring my comfort and safety. She did this whilst still continuing to tend to other guests seamlessly. She was fantastic, but honestly all the servers here are exceptional! I felt very taken care of despite how busy it was at the time. I hope to be back soon, under different circumstances. Thanks ladies! read more

The pasta dishes were flavorful, though noticeably salty, which may not suit everyone's taste. Waiting time was quite long, requiring patience before the food arrived at the table. However, the price felt reasonable and fair for the portion sizes and overall quality. What truly stood out was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional, making guests feel welcome throughout the visit. Even with the delay, their positive attitude helped improve the experience. Overall, it is a decent place worth visiting, especially if you value good service overall here. read more

On a warm-sunny Monday noon for lunch....ok....here it goes.... The patio was strangely enough charming considering it was right by the highway. You'd think....the noise, the smell and perhaps the construction would get on your first nerve very quickly.....it actually didn't. The warmth of the shady sun along with the colourful umbrellas shining their light onto your table with a timid breeze visiting once in a while made me feel like ordering a margarita. The Chicken Tenders were decent, but not sure I'd order them again at $19....I think next time I'll try a different item. The Bacon Burger was great.....I'd get that again. It hit every burger craving spot. Our server Austin J. just made the whole experience even better. He had all the natural talents, charm and suave to be in customer service....well done Austin....you deserve to rocket all the way to the top. Will be back if I'm in the area again. read more

Wife and I went to Cactus on Lougheed in Burnaby yesterday with another couple. I had the fish tacos (used to be my favourite) but the fish felt rubbery and there was hardly any garnish to enhance the flavour. I ate it because I did not want to make a scene. However, when it was time to pay the bill, the restaurant did not want to accept any of my three gift cards. They said the cards were missing a PIN and they had no idea how to deal with it. It is their issue, not mine. There was no recourse but to pay cash. They said I need to call head office and find out how to proceed. Why could they not do that. Ridiculous!! read more

Cactus is nice predictably and reliable. We sat at the bar , the bar staff were great ,personable honesty the service was great and very professional, . The service was good the food was tasty the drinks were good . My only criticism would be of the hostess , when we arrived at 7:30pm with no reservations wearing t shirt and shorts after enjoying a sunny Vancouver day lets just say our greeting from the hostess was less than upbeat or pleasant . I don't know if she didn't care for my attire, me personally or if she had other pressing things on her mind . But not the warm happy greeting I would expect at cactus club read more

The service at this location is always terrible but I have still given a better rating previously.. not today. My husband and I came with his parents as a night out together. Our waitress was terrible and had attitude right from the beginning. When placing our drink orders, my father in law asked for a dark beer and she had no idea if they had an option for that. My husband ordered a Bellini, asking for it in a tall glass which he always orders whenever we go to Cactus and she said 'umm I'll try to get it in a tall glass'... how hard is it? Once we had our drinks we barely saw her. We were given a dirty dish for our soy sauce that came with our sushi which she didn't apologize for. She never asked how our food was or asked if we wanted more drinks at all. So very disappointed. The food was all good but the service will cause us to go to another location next time. read more

worst take out ever, and they seem to be unable to understand basic modifications, Iike no added salt or pepper. Ordered a salad which was drenched in oil, as in swimming in it, and the cucumbers were pretty much salt and pepper served with a side of the cucumber. They used to have great salads and large portions, not so much anymore and we won't be back. As one person in our office noted, the food was disgusting. read more

I came here for dinner and with about 6 other people and we had a server named Julianna who did a great job attending to us. Our table ordered many things included yam fries and calamari. I ordered the grilled dijon salmon and it was simply AMAZINGGGGGGGGG. loved my food. loved all the food here. NO ONE had a problem with their food which was super amazing, perfect dinner. It was also my birthday and I got a cute little dessert treat which was super cute as well. Ample parking, great ambience, and adequate prices. I also ordered a drink, but I forget... Either way, I would soooo go back! Thank you Julianna for handling us and our requests so well. I cant wait to visit Vancouver again, I will definitely have to come back here. read more

Went there last night as I didn't feel like cooking, we had to wait for about 5 minutes before they had a table. We sat down, waited and waited and waited for 10 minutes, no server and no water. My husband had to ask for the manager and told him about what happened. He apologized profusely, offered us a free appetizer, and got our server to come over. The server apologized as well, then took our order. We ordered the tuna stack as the free appetizer. It's diced tuna sashimi with avocado, topped with some crunchy tempura bits. It was seasoned well with a light soya sauce and probably some chilli garlic. I like the fact the proportion with the tuna and crisps are just right. I ordered a steak frites. It was well seasoned, juicy and cooked to medium rare, which is how I liked it. Fries were hot and crunchy, however, the kale salad was overly dressed and way too acidic. Food is fine, I mean, chain like Cactus usually is very consistent. Just too bad the service was below average this time. read more

I visited Cactus Club about a week ago for a casual lunch with my parents. Everything was going great until I went to order. I wanted a pesto chicken quesadilla, but without the cranberries. The server then apologetically informed me that if I wanted to remove the cranberries, the quesadilla would not have any pesto in it. When asked why, the answer was simply "it's a new rule." Here's why I take issue with the new rule: 1) Nowhere on the menu does it say that customizations or substitutions are not allowed; if you're going to instate such a rule, it should really be advertised 2) Pesto is one of the main ingredients of the dish! It's the defining flavour! 3) Is this rule set in stone? What if someone has an allergy to cranberries? I ended up ordering the tuna stack instead. Lately, I haven't been impressed with the Cactus Club franchise. I hope things will change soon. One thing's for sure, I won't be going back for a while. read more

Pretty solid and dependable food. Parking lot is a bit small as a big chunk is reserved for sleep country. Be prepared to wait for a spot at peak times. They used to have a valet service, but that no longer exists. The waiting area is super large, with lots of seating. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes it's super efficient, friendly and great and other times your server is no where to be seen. The food though is always dependable and good quality. Whether it's the pasta, burgers, bowls or salads it matches all other locations. Happy hour is strong as well. Good restaurant in the Brentwood area. read more

The happy hour menu and the patio was enticing enough for us to give it a try. I can't believe that the server, knowing that it is a hot day, didn't go to get some ice to serve us some cold water on a hot sunny day on the patio. Not only that, when we were having our food, she asked us how our food tasted from the upper floor of the patio so basically we have to project our contentment back up the stairs because she didn't want to come down a few steps, walk over to our table to see how we are doing. It is embarassing that a server does the above and expects tips... Anyways, I digress. The food was ok - steak and frites was over cooked. It was medium rather than medium rare. The drinks are more expensive than their Joey neighbours. Overall, likely not coming back for HH. read more

My kids took me here last night for Mother's Day. The food was delicious! Well prepared and beautifully plated. However, one thing that concerned me A LOT was the water. When we are seated, we always asked for ice water. ALL four glasses had "floaties" so we asked for four new glasses of water only to be served with four more glasses of floatie infested water. Needless to say my kids were thoroughly grossed out. These were not just tiny air bubbles rising up ... there were small white chunks of food? looked like cracker crumbs? The second time around ... one of the glasses had red coloured crumb particles. My kids gave up on the water, but I went for one last try ... again ... I got floaties in my water. Nix the water! The service was ok ... we were tended to immediately. There were a lot of staff on shift for such a busy day ... but the wait staff seemed ... what's the word ... sorry to say ... but they seemed snobby. minus 1.5 stars for the water minus .5 star for the lack of smiles and friendliness of the staff read more

Came here for some lunch. The trick is to pop by before around 1145, after which the place gets pretty full. Parking is available in the nice large parking lot up the hill from the building. Be sure to park in the correct zone. The restaurant is divided into 2 main areas - a dining area with booths, and a bar area with raised booths as well as bar-style tables. There's also a large S facing patio which is great for baking during the summer months. Staff were friendly and professional. Gotta give it to them. This is very consistent across the different locations. They came by frequently enough to ensure my buddy and I weren't thirsty. The short rib sandwich is quite tasty. Bread is nice and crunchy, and it's all about the caramelized onions. The beef jus was a bit too salty for my liking though. Fries are crispy but nothing special (they taste like the McCain variety). Food is a bit pricey here, but the ambience is nice and classy. read more

After a long day, in the heart of the city, our party of eight people wanted to enjoy a nice restaurant. We found Cactus, Club, Cafe, and inside we found exactly what we were looking for! This review is based on their happy hour menu. We ordered 2 drinks, truffle fries, flatbread, chicken sandwich duo, and quesadillas. The total was around $40. Everything tasted fine but presentation lacked, especially the quesadillas. If you ever order their happy hour ravioli ($8), know that it is actually only 2 pieces of ravioli. The frose was quite nice but the sunset frose was kind of strange with basically a few drops of the frose slush added to your soda. Just compared to similar restaurants (Joey, Milestones, Earls, etc.), it wasn't the most impressive happy hour. I ate at the restaurant tonight. I enjoy going there but hadn't been there in a while. I ordered the the Thai Green Curry with prawns. I found it to be more like a soup. I have not been to this location in probably over 8 years, and it was nice to just come back to this old place that I used to hang around for a light snack. This is one of the locations which still, by what I saw at the doorway, not changed to the new "Cactus Club" logo sign. Located on Lougheed Highway, right next to Boston Pizza, there's parking, unlike some other locations. The food for all these chain restaurants is practically the same. In all, the same you would expect from any Cactus Club menu, nothing special, but when you need the higher tier chain restaurant in this area, I guess it is either this place, or the Earl's across the street. They do have a nice bar/lounge area, with good views of the tv's for your viewing pleasure if there is a sports game on though! read more

My firm had an event nearby and Cactus Club was the closest restaurant that could accommodate our large group so we decided to pop in last minute. We were quite happy with the food and we were honestly surprised that it was consistent with their restaurants situated in downtown Vancouver. Overall, all our dishes were good but the dish that I would always come back for is their butternut squash ravioli with prawns. This ravioli was excellent and we were all surprised at how perfect each one was crafted! The only complaint I have is that our waitress vanished for quite a while so we ended up not ordering until 25 minutes after we sat down. The restaurant was extremely busy and I felt like they were a bit understaffed. This was actually my first visit to Cactus Club in years and I felt like they have really stepped up their food quality! read more
