I went there after work for a quick drink to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a tuesday and it was their half price bottled wine day. Both of our servers that night were excellent and they gave us a small creme brulee as a birthday celebration as well The wine and cocktail selections were definitely impacted by the union strike but was horrible. we were still able to find something we liked. We order 3 items from the happy hour menu. Avocado dip, fries and chipotle chicken taco. fries were as usual. But the avocado had a bit too much fluid (maybe from the tomatoes?) and some of the tortillas which came on the same plate became soggy. This is a review about the washroom here. ROFL. Have you ever wished for a spacious washroom with a lounge type setting were you can just chill in & have conversation with random strangers. Well I've found it at this particular Cactus Club Cafe location. A stunning, clean swanky washroom - just what you've been dreaming of all your life. LOL. I rank this in the top ten of best restaurant washrooms in Metro Vancouver. This CCC is located near Broadway & Cambie. It's kinda secluded (even though it's at the street corner) & you could miss it if you drove by. I like it for its ambiance & privacy - for when you're just wanting a bite & to escape from the busyness of the day. My waitress was excellent. I'm crazy about the Scallops & Shrimp Ceviche! I've had it a few times. It's light, easy & filling - you don't feel stuffed afterwards - yes it's an appy so if you generally eat bigly, then order an add on for sure. I won't be cruising to the Caribbean for awhile - so I get my cruise dessert here. The Chocolate Lava Cake is phenomenal! It had been a minute since I visited, I specifically visited them for their blacked creole chicken during happy hour. It is so comforting and the creole butter they put on the chicken, makes all the difference! The mash potatoes they serve with the chicken is soooo soft and tastes amazing with the butter as well. It also has seasonal veggies and cajun spices. I'll definitely visit them before the year ends specially for the chicken again! I would never choose to come here, but I got dragged here. They have some vegan options, which I appreciate. I ordered their Crispy Tofu Bowl ($24.50 plus tax), a basic bowl with sweet chili sauce-coated fried tofu, over a bed of white rice, with some edamame, radish, avocado, mango, cucumber and minimal green leaves. The tofu is the only thing that is seasoned/spiced/sauced -- everything else just comes plain. The portion was fine, but this seemed like a very boring, uninspired dish, not to mention overpriced. Though the tofu was nicely seasoned, everything else was just basic ingredients; why would I pay for this when I could assemble this in 5 minutes at home? This restaurant was such a lucky find on our first day in Vancouver! Our first server Sammy, recommended amazing food and was such a terrific server, patient and attentive to us! I had the best salad of my life so far there! (Green Goddess with salmon) We loved the food so much we came back the next day for dinner! Fifteen years ago I was a fan of Cactus. The past 5 years Cactus Club was not on the top of my radar due to disappointment in food. Yesterday, I decided to give it a shot due to the location and having an early happy hour. Was not expecting much but was amazingly surprised with the visit and will certainly come back to this location. Called the morning to reserve a table and got one for happy hour. Usually happy hour offer small dishes so was surprised when full entrees were being served at happy hour prices. Good selection of drinks and items. Here's what impressed me: 1. Amazing Bellini cocktail that only Milestone could ever make perfectly. Well, this Cactus Club makes it better. The Bellini held and didn't melt. Perfect balance of sweet and slushy mixture. 2. I ordered steak frites for a medium rare and was expecting a small flat steak but had a good size sirloin streak that was cooked to perfection. The fries were also the best and held the crisp. My friend had the Blackened Creole Chicken and he enjoyed it. 3. Service from the beginning calling in, greeted at the front door and our waiter were all fantastic. Excellent social distancing policy in effect here. Happy afternoon and happy meal. Will be back again now that Catus Club is back on my radar. I absolutely love happy hours. It's essentially my chance to eat and drink (yummy) food at a discounted price. This location is about 3 minutes(?) walk from Broadway City Hall Canada Line station. With the location in mind, parking can be quite difficult to find. Public transit is probably the best, plus you can drink to your heart's content without worrying about having to drive home. My friend and I each ordered a sunset soda. I had the frose version. The first time my drink came, it had a strand of hair with it so I sent it back. The second time it came, the frose in it was much less than the previous version. My friend's sunset soda only had a tiny bit of bellini in it as well. The drinks basically tasted like soda + vodka. Thank goodness it was only $4.50. The Pesto chicken quesadilla was meh. It was pretty dry... where was the pesto in it!? To make it more moist for my palette, I added quite a bit of the sauce that came with it. The steak and frites was your usual steak and frites. I think this was a good deal for the price - $21. It came with kale salad and fries. I guess this was our favorite dish of the night. Overall, nothing wow stood out from our dinner, but my friend and I had a nice time chatting with each other. read more

We stumbled across this beautiful restaurant with an even more beautiful view of the skyline as well as the large body of water behind it. With no reservation the estimated wait for a table around dinnertime was up to an hour. That didn't bother us because there was so much to do around the area. After taking many pictures we were finally called after 30 minutes. The truffle fries were outstanding with the crunchy exterior of the fry seasoned with truffle oil on top all while paired with the rich garlic aioli sauce. Our waitress was super nice as she made time out of her busy schedule to have a chat with us and was very genuine the whole time serving us. After popping into the Yaletown location ( it was over packed, way too loud and the wait for a table was 20 m ) we decided to go to this location. It was quiet and we were immediately greeted by the friendly hostess and seated in a booth. Our friendly server came by and took out drink orders. I had a Bellini ( only 5$ as it was late night happy hour ) and he had a double Caesar which had a large pickle slice and pepperoni stick as garnish ) the drinks appeared quickly, and they were very tasty. We split chicken wings to start. We had ordered salt & pepper, but we were brought hot wings. They looked and smelled delicious, so we never said anything. They were accompanied by a generous portion of celery. The dip however was not very big and we ran out of it before we had finished the wings and celery. For our main course, I had the Rocket salad ( with no onions ) and he had 2 mini burgers and a chicken slider ( his burgers also on the happy hour menu ) it was all perfect. We had another round of drinks, and split the white chocolate cheesecake for desert. The entire experience from start to finish was excellent. The atmosphere, the service and the food. Take out only! The food was delicious and fresh. The truffle fries ($6 during happy hour) tasted amazing - I tasted the truffle and the garlic aioli was superb. Since I usually go to cactus club for the service and atmosphere, and not the food, i'm not quite sure if their regular price for these items would be worth it for take out... but check out their menu online for the prices - I think the burger combo would totally be worth $25 (tasty angus beef and side salad), but I would definitely not pay anything more than $15 for the poke ... just because you can find it somewhere else. read more

I was seated at the bar and enjoyed a meal for hours, and chatted with the staff.  Prior to exiting the restaurant, I used the restroom and upon my return, there was another guest seated at my seat.  I spoke with the staff and they said they didn't know that was my seat.  This made no sense to me because I was seated there for hours and my belongings were still present at that seat. I soon departed with a gratuity of 20% on a $150 bill nonetheless, and spoke with the manager.  The manager did not apologize; instead, he defended his staff. I chose this restaurant because I had thought highly of it.  Never would I expect a manager defend his staff unjustifiably.  Never mind my kindness in the gratuity.  Both the staff and management were degrading towards me, a woman dining alone.  There was not one fact to justify how I was treated as an unworthy human being. Did I intend to spend $150 during the pandemic, hoping to enjoy a meal, only to be publicly humiliated and bullied by the staff and management? read more

The good quality and taste were great but in general the prices were about a couple of bucks to expensive. This Cactus Club has been around the block for a while. So it's not a new location like the one in Burnaby Station Square. They are close to the Cambie St. Canada Line Station so it is walking distance from public transportation. Skytrain specifically. So location is good because they are well served by transit. Parking can be difficult since it's just about paid parking everywhere. But there is a place just on 8th ave if I'm not mistaken that has some free parking (2 hours). The ambiance here is nice. It's dark even on a summer day. So maybe they're going for that feel. The service that we experienced was nothing short of spectacular. Our waiter was very nice, cordial and friendly. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. And felt like the calamari was a little too salty. When our waiter came by to ask how the food was. We said it was good except for the calamari. We told him that it was a little too salty. Without any questions. He said if we wanted another one. And so we hesitantly said yes. And he took it back. We were then given at a later time a new calamari dish and it was much better. The less salty and the sauce more than made up for it. We were impressed that they would offer to give us another calamari dish without any quarrels. That in itself deserves a star. Would recommend simply because of their service. Their prices. I'm not going to lie. It's expensive for the food that you're getting. We fortunately had a gift card that was given to us by a friend. But the meal almost came to $100 - for a family of four. One toddler, one newborn and two adults. We basically ordered: - Signature Caesar - The Feenie Burger - Butternut Squash and Prawn Ravioli - Soul Revival Drink - calamari All of that came to $99.25. Which is a lot in my opinion for burger. Pasta. Two drinks and an appy. Do I recommend Cactus? For their service yes. But of course. Nobody comes to eat at a restaurant simply for the service. It's for the food and the value too. And I can't say we got good value here. The only reason we came tonight was because we had a gift card given to us. So we took advantage of that. If not for that, we wouldn't have come. It's expensive. End of story. So no. I can't recommend this place to frequent often because it's so expensive. From time to time? Maybe for a special occasion? I had never been to this particular Cactus Club before, but my friend and I usually meet for lunch at Ebisu and, to our surprise, that restaurant was closed on Mondays, so we decided to go next door to this Cactus Club yesterday. Initially I was ticked off, as I like my Ebisu routine, and when I entered this Cactus Club, it was SO busy and SO loud (it was prime lunch-time), and I wondered how I'd ever hear my friend from across the table. Plus, when I checked out the menu, I couldn't help but notice how the prices were quite a bit higher than Ebisu (although I know the food at Cactus Club to always. be good. At least, that's my personal experience). Oh well, what could we do? We had no reservation (naturally), but one party just left, so we lucked out at getting a table in a booth by the brick wall (on the Ash Street side of the building). And at least here it was a little quieter. And I liked how there were hooks on the booth dividers for our wet coats and umbrellas. And our hostess and server were super nice. Like, SUPER nice. I was starting to warm up to the idea that our lunch plans were unexpectedly altered. My friend and I both ordered the mini burgers: she got the spicy chicken, whereas I got the beef burgers. They were the perfect size lunch. Three adorable mini burgers. Mine had bacon and lettuce and some sort of tasty mayo-based sauce (I requested that they hold the spicier red pepper sauce, which they did). Wow, these burgers were absolutely delicious! And filling, too; I had two and packed up the third for home. My friend loved her chicken sliders, too. We were both too full for dessert. (This slider meal cost $15 and change. Not terrible). The service was great, the meal was great, and when it was time to leave, both my friend and I were very happy that we dined here (despite initially being put off that our original plans were changed). Cactus Club in Fairview is our go to spot for happy hour and for a guaranteed "safe" meal for my husband and I. What I mean by safe is that the food is always solid and consistently delicious. We've been there so many times but I don't think I can think of a time when the taste was off on a dish. Our go to menu items are: Rob's Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Tenders, Tuna Poke Bowl, Modern Bowl (chicken & salmon- both are good), and the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns. I am always impressed by how most and tender the chicken is in the crispy chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders. There are many other items that are delicious on the menu, but then I feel like I'll have to copy and paste their entire menu to list them all. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because not always is the service 100% and there are times that mistakes have been made which is understandable. I prefer this location over some of the other more popular, scenic locations. Maybe because before, this was the only location with the chicken sandwich I love so much lol. Must try the Med Bowl when you visit this location! I was in the area last weekend and stopped by cactus club for lunch. This was featured as a new item and as a new vegetarian I was very happy to see something catered to my diet! The bowl is FULL of flavour and each part of the bowl was delicious on its own! Loved it so much I wrote to cactus club to input my feedback about bringing this bowl to other locations (closer to me haha) Unfortunately I did receive a response from someone representing the company saying they are taking it off the menu to make room for other new dishes.
