Had a Friday late night Happy Hour date night here and we made reservations as this location is always busy. We reserved for a table in the dining room but we were asked if we would take a high top table in the heated patio for a shorter wait time and agreed. The heat in the patio was too warm so we asked to have it turned off, which they did. We had a gift card to use because our last visit to this location was the worst service we've ever experienced at Cactus - we had to wait 10 minutes to be greeted and have our drink order taken, none of our dishes were ever taken away, we were never checked up on until we were almost ready for the bill, our water was never refilled nor did anyone ask my boyfriend if he wanted a second beer, and it took another 10 minutes for us to find our server and another 10 minutes before she brought over the bill. Literally, our server disappeared on us but we saw her chatting up a bigger table near us at one point and spent several minutes there. We hoped this time the experience was better but to be honest, it was slightly below average at best. At least my boyfriend got asked if he wanted a second beer, we were able to get my water refilled at the end of the meal, and they finally took away our plates after we almost finished our meal, though we struggled for space on the table and it would have helped to have had the plates cleared away sooner. It did take us awhile to flag our server to get the bill - she was busy wiping down tables and refilling items at the patio station with napkins and takeout boxes to notice us. I think we have come to accept that the service will never be good at this location and my boyfriend suggested we start going to the Station Square Cactus location instead, as we always get solid service there. read more

Our server was amazing. We came to celebrate my late husband's birthday. He would have been 51. It was a hard day so we had a late start and ended up having a really late dinner. Against my habit not to dine in a restaurant with mediocre results by Fraser Health my Missis and I went there out of an habit of celebrating occasions. My opinion, besides the food that I didn't appreciate the way it was arranged on the plate (wagyo beef carpaccio with aioli sauce) is that the place has seen better days. A visit to the men's room was the reason (pictured) My wife's pasta dish was actually okay. My comment to our very attentive server, that the beef taste of my dish was ruined because it was drowned in aioli. She reported that to the kitchen and offered us a complementary dessert. As we were sitting with view of the water we noticed some rats rushing by coming and going from the kitchen waste bin i assumed. They have to do a lot of work before we can return. Man I remember everybody was telling me cactus club was mid af.. Sorry I beg to differ, the food here is amazing compared to the sh*t we have in California.. I'm talking about you cheese cake factory. For those of you who don't know, JOEY DTLA in California is a branch off cactus club cafe. Now don't get me wrong Joey Dtla had some hit or miss but their food variety was always their biggest selling point. I remember eating fried cauliflower coated in gochujang like wtf is that?? am I right? It tasted pretty dam good though I ain't gonna lie. Cactus club cafe is one of those restaurants where there's always a dish for everyone. Whether it's sushi, pad thai, Mediterranean, salads, steaks, creole chicken etc. It's what we think cheese cake factory should be but unfortunately it's trash in California. I had the steak frites medium rare with creole butter sauce(it's the same creole butter on the blackened chicken). I normally don't mess with kale salad but the chickpea croutons were so dam good.. For the happy hour price it was such a steal.. the service was good, food was good, music was good and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant felt mid-classy. read more

One of the smaller Cactus Club locations in the Lower Mainland. This one is inside Market Crossing. The place gets pretty packed during peak meal hours. Something to keep in mind. Parking is plentiful in the the strip mall lot. As with the other locations, the venue has a bar/lounge and a restaurant area. Both sections are kid friendly though. Staff are friendly and professional. The chicken sandwich I had was pretty good. Decent amount of meat. Chicken patties were nice and crisp. Not a bad place at all, though I would recommend a backup plan in case the place is full. read more

Cactus club is a decent place to hang out with friends and grab some good food and drinks (especially happy hour). I recently visited this location. Services was great and it's a clean and gorgeous location! I got the Thai green curry which was delicious and filling (forgot to take a picture). The only thing I noticed was it did lack a touch of flavour which I wish there was more off. I also felt like there was way too much rice and the noodles. But otherwise it was good. read more

My go to cactus as it's close to home and generally the service and food is very good. My most recent visit was the worst though. When we got our food my sons steak was over done (no where close to med rare) so after we were finally able to flag out server she did a good job of apologizing and took it away to be refired. When it came back the runner simply dropped it in the middle of the table, didn't say anything and turned away. When I moved the plate towards my son I got the unpleasant surprise of a burning hot plate. Wow. Thanks for the heads up. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this Cactus Club location before; I've always had a good time here. I prefer this place to a lot of other locations, as it has a lot of parking and is pretty big. For my latest visit, I came for drinks + snacks Sunday night. My friend and I came around 8:30 and there was a short 10 minute wait for a table. The bar was wide open, so we could've gotten seated there immediately, but I'm glad we waited as we got a whole booth all to ourselves. We already had dinner earlier, so we started off easy with just some drinks. I had the El Camino Margarita ($13), which was pretty good, though I was a bit surprised it was on the sour side. Once 9:30 hit and happy hour started, we ordered a second round of drinks, another beer for him and a bellini for me, as well as the crispy chicken sandwich duo ($10). Cactus is hands down my favourite restaurant ever. I went during happy hour the last time I went and all of my favourites were discounted!! Each mini crispy burger was $5 instead of 3 for $18. This was such a good deal for me since I only ever eat 2 of them. My server was so so sweet and she did a really good job. I believe her name was Kismit. There were also a tonne of small flies buzzing over our table all night long. One of the guys kept trying to kill them, but it was a never-ending pursuit. There were several open spots. When we arrived, 2 other parties arrived after us but were seated before us. We waited 10 or 15 minutes and finally were brought to table in the lounge. The patio had a group reso, understandable. The entire patio was empty except two tables. The server said they didn't have a server for out there. Then why book a patio reso, and what about other people that booked them? When we asked why we would make a reso then, no apology was even offered. Just that there would be no server to help us. Cactus Club is hands down my favourite chain restaurant. Our whole family loves this place! We usually go to this location because it's closest to home. We have been dining at Cactus for more than 15 years and we usually go there for dinner once a month. We always order the same dishes but I'm sure everything on their menu is good! I rarely give 5 stars but Cactus is EVERYTHING! Must order: hot wings and recently, we just found out that we can do half and half flavours! So happy! Blackened Creole Chicken - omg the most tender chicken I've ever tasted! Tuna Stack or Tuna Tataki - so refreshing! Yum! Feenie Burger - so juicy!! Soy-Dijon Salmon - the perfect way to eat salmon Bandara Salad - how come I can't make something like this at home? Four Mushroom Steak - juicy and the sides are delish! It's so spacious and their patio is huge! * Szechuan chicken lettuce wraps ($19.25) ~ so bomb! A perfect dish to share! Chicken was super saucy and juicy. Very good flavours on the chicken and the sauces were bomb! Nice kick to it too! * Butternut squash ravioli with prawns ($28.75) ~ this is one of my go to dishes! The sauce tastes so good with the sautéed prawns and the truffle butter sauce! 100% recommend. * Also had tuna poke bowl ($21.25) & Bellini ($10). * 10/10 ~ all the dishes were so tasty and perfectly done! I was a little taken back when I was told they only had at the bar. I asked why didn't they have any other and she decided to put me in the patio. I am glad I didn't get mad about the bar situation. So unimpressed with the customer service here. Tried to book a reservation for a work farewell and the list of rules they have in place for a group reservation is absolutely ridiculous! Cactus Club who do you think you are? Like seriously... Do you think that you are above needing the business of locals in your community? It sure seems that way. For starters they expect you to pay the entire bill on one card, like who does that with a work group? Well they told me who does that, apparently it is the 'corporate' parties that they prefer to host. 'Corporate' was the GMs favourite word during our conversation. She explained that their servers don't have time to take orders and put them on separate bills for groups. Hmmm... isn't that one of the given duties of a server? Foolish me for thinking that basic service should be expected in a restaurant. I guess that auto gratuity they are charging is for??? I'm sorry Cactus Club but not everyone wanting to celebrate as a group after work at your restaurant are 'corporate' people with corporate credit cards to charge. Some of us are just regular working folk who don't have corporate credit cards. We actually have to pay our bills using our own money. 'Corporate' was the term the GM I spoke with today repeated several times when describing the groups they usually book. Maybe the actual problem here is that Cactus Club has become too corporate. Talk about snobbery! Boo Cactus Club! Boo, boo, boo! Never been to this location cactus, very big restaurant with our door sitting, open kitchen and a nice bar. Now with the Corvid practice, barriers are being put between seats, only limited number of guests can enter, waitresses are all wearing masks, suggest you make reservation before you go so no need to line up at the front. This place has a fancy washroom. The flush is on the floor so you step on it for the flush to work. There is also a mini tv screen on the door for you to watch. Why? I have no idea. The place is pretty big and can accommodate big groups. It was fairly busy when we were there on a Sunday afternoon. We just had a drink so did not get to try the food. I was a bit surprised how busy this place was as it is in the corner of the complex. I've been here a few times and my girlfriend wanted a burger so came here. Guess others wanted good food too. She got the garden burger to try and I got the spicy crispy chicken sandwich. Hers was good, the patty was softer than she thought it would be as she's tried other veggie burger. I mentioned it had texture of hard tofu. It was good. My sandwich was bigger than I thought as the piece of chicken was a lot larger than the bun. It had a lot of sauce so it wasn't dry and I was able to have a bite without it being dry. I really liked it and would order again. The server was new so she was getting used to the tablet order system however she did very well. She was friendly, had good suggestions and did her best to provide great service. My husband and I ventured out for our first post lockdown meal and ended up in the S Burnaby area. Wednesday May 27th about 2pm I suggested Cactus Club and we popped in . When we arrived it said you needed a reservation. We asked and the lovely ladies at the front said they had space and we could get a table right away . You walk in the front door and are greeted by the hostess table .(behind plexiglass) you are asked to sanitize your hands with the sanitizer machine beside the hostess booth. We where seated in the lounge . In the middle booth. All booths are separated with thick glass/plexiglass and are quite comfortable . We had a party of 5 guys on one side of us and a couple on the other side and felt quite comfortable. Individual tables where separated by an empty table between all parties . All staff wear nice black Cactus Club logo'd masks. My husband ordered the Jambalaya bowl and I had the Feenie Burger . Food was fresh tasted great and came quickly. They are doing a digital menu which is available online and you look it up on your phone (paper disposable menus are available if needed) . When your bill comes you can a QR code with your phone camera and it takes you to a payment screen (NO cash ) . You can split the bill by # in Party , by item , etc . It was a first for all of us , our waitress and my husband and I . It was a great experience and completely hands off . All in all I am super happy with the way Cactus Club and their staff are handling this new "Norm" I totally forgot to get our servers name as I always like to acknowledge great service . So if there is anyway of Cactus Club figuring that out she was fantastic. PS . If you have the means and are able to , tip your servers , delivery guys, stylist etc well . I'm really disappointed that the recipe for the vegan burger got changed. Formerly, it featured the Beyond Burger patty and vegan cheese. Now Cactus uses the Impossible and has removed the cheese entirely. Unfortunately it now tastes like what you can get at Burger King for a fraction of the price, plus some mayo. I'd say their old recipe can actually rival the burgers from actual vegan restaurants but now it tastes like glorified fast food. read more

I've been coming to Cactus Club for years and always have a great dining experience. The serving staff is so friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and if it's not to your liking the Management will make sure that they take care of you. Started off with the Vodka sofa, so refreshing. Had their calamari as an appetizer which was light and crispy. For entrees i ordered the steak frites which was served with my favourite kale salad, zesty, bits of crispy toppings and so good! My steak was seasoned nicely, juicy and had great flavour. Others enjoyed the salmon, butternut squash ravioli and the kids chose chicken tenders. We finished off with their yummy desserts and shared lava cake with ice cream, mouse cups, peanut butter crunch bar. Dear Cactus Club Cafe You owe my boyfriend an apology. On Friday, January 18th, 2019, my boyfriend and I attended a friend's birthday party at your restaurant. While we were having our meal, my boyfriend excused himself from the table as he was having an upset stomach. My boyfriend has gastrointestinal problems and had to use your restroom to vomit. During his time there, he messaged me letting me know why he's taking a while in. You can see a screenshot of our conversation below for your reference since your staff at the time didn't care enough to go through it when I presented it. When my boyfriend returned to the table, he was pulled aside by one of your security workers and led away from the table. My initial thought was that someone may have thought he had too much to drink but that it'll be cleared up as soon as your staff has had a chance to speak with him. My boyfriend didn't have a single drink that night. Not long after you took him away, our server alerted me that there may be a dispute outside so I made my way to my boyfriend and your staff speaking outside. What I had found was that your security workers had accused him of cocaine use in your bathroom stall. You claim to have tested the stall after his visit so I had asked if your security tests the stall after each UNIQUE visit. I was told they did which i found not credible as I've seen both walking around the service area throughout the night. One of your security workers that goes by the name of Essa went so far as saying he had OBSERVED my boyfriend using. How that came to be, I'm not sure, unless your security has special privilege to peak through bathroom stalls which I'm sure is a violation of privacy. When my boyfriend asked for your security workers' names and security license numbers - they didn't seem to want to provide it but by law are required to do so upon request. What we found was that Essa - who claimed to have seen my boyfriend using cocaine - had an INVALID security license. Please see screenshot of results attached. Please also find attached a picture of my boyfriend's negative drug test results taken after the incident. Not only are you allowing an unlicensed security worker to work in your restaurant. You've taken his lie at face value. Accusing someone of cocaine use and going so far as LYING about seeing it isn't just disrespectful to one's character, it ruins careers and lives. My boyfriend and I will not be coming back. I worry about friends, family and other guests who may visit your establishment who risk also being accused of drug use in your stalls due to a flaw in your procedures and lack of integrity within your security staff.
