Lovely experience with my family for a special occasion. Kids really enjoyed it and service was great. Food was replenished in timely fashion. Best thing was the salmon! In multiple forms! Smoked, cooked in sauce (slightly underdone which is exactly the way I love it), candied ... yum. Kids were living their best lives with pancakes and waffles, sausage and bacon. Having dessert with breakfast foods was the most fun for them. Price was $39 pp for adults and $27 pp for kids age 6+. Seemed like a few parties were going on so it got noisy in the original section where we were seated. Little dark in the other section but few more steps to work off the calories is fine! I wish I could give it a 2.5 stars. I would say I enjoy coming here because I absolutely love the food. They have a band on Friday and Saturdays nights so that's kind of nice to enjoy. First time here, we ordered 30 oysters, onion rings, calamari from HH menu, and the sablefish from dinner menu. Taste 0.5/1* All HH menu items were great! Oysters were fresh, I loved the batter on both the calamari and onion rings, though wife found them a bit spicy. So I showed up early at the Executive Plaza hotel and given that the venue wasn't set up yet I decided to go into their restaurant "The Wild Fig Restaurant " just near the front desk .. I stood at the front waiting to be greeted for 5 minutes but nothing so I peered around the corner for someone .. about half a dozen items beside their buffet and ironically all priced around $18.. so I decided on the their "Healthy Start " ( granola, yoghurt, fruit) for the price it wasn't worth it.. there was zero service and so at the end a young lady came by seeing that I was done and I had my empty coffee cup out front.. she asked if I wanted to charge to the room but I was here for a seminar as noted.. she wanted to walk away and I had to ask her for more coffee.. training only goes so far and to me it's obvious that there isn't any.. I don't begrudge the servers but no pleasantries as gratuities are a part of their lives and so I still tipped but I will never patronize them again .. all in all there were two others besides me in a span of 45 minutes Have your staff "spoil" your paying customers is my suggestion as well place other simple things on the menu if the kitchen isn't competent enough to be a true restaurant or even order in pre-packaged menu items much like Tim Horton or Starbucks does read more

Menu is 3 courses and perfectly priced at 45$ per person. Appy: Sweet Crispy Battered Prawns (5/5) The Squash Puree and the garlic was the perfect finish for the me with the crispy Prawn texture. Main: Huli Huli Grilled Chicken Thighs (4/5) Nicely done on the meat, could use a little more sauce but tasted wholesome and the veggies were plenty. My friends went with the Short Ribs option. Dessert: White Chocolate Mousse Praline (5/5) The Raspberry sorbet was the perfect pairing. I thought the serving was a little big for one person. The event is understaffed, your request takes forever to arrive. The buffet setup is so tight and very crowded at the beginning. I would say the food is okay, the baked salmon is always empty. It felt like we were in a boardroom. The loud live music made it worse. Imaging a high ceiling boardroom with echo of loud music and not able to talk with other people on the table. Lastly, about the service, when we made a reservation, we requested a corner seat. We made our reservations online but when we got there, they were not aware we made a reservation. We thought this was odd because they should have a more consistent method of tracking reservations. After a 10 minute wait, we were seated at a booth close to the live band. Unfortunately the music was loud and made it difficult for us to have dinner conversation. Once we sat down it took about 20 minutes for our server to come over to take down our orders. The Wild Fig was practically full but there were only 2 people working on a Saturday night. I'm not sure how this happened and it really affected the rest of the evening because the service was quite slow. Pesto cream pasta: The chicken was cooked well and the garlic toast came crispy but the pasta sauce was far too watery. However, my expectations for a buffet setting is a bit lower than regular dining. When food is made in large quantities, I cannot expect everything to be amazing. I did appreciate the food being kept warm with burners. Our server was clearing plates and refilling coffee regularly. The omelette station was moving fairly quickly with two chefs making the omelettes. There was one staff keeping the buffet station clean and tidy. The restaurant staff seems very experienced with the buffet setting. I recommend this restaurant if you are interested in buffets. Child under the age of 5 can eat for free. Came here for a holiday lunch. This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Executive Inn. Parking is available in the attached parkade. Be sure to register one's license plate. The place is classy but somewhat dated (1990s). The restaurant is split into a lounge section and a restaurant section. Staff were friendly and professional. The lamburger was pretty decent. Crisp bun, and decent toppings. My only real complaint is that this place serves way too much potato chips. Everyone's dishes came with a big pile of potato chips, and there were even dishes of appetizer potato chips before the food was served. I don't think I've had this much potato chips in one sitting in my entire life. Not sure why they couldn't just give fries like other places. Secondly, had the experience being called on phone a day before that my reservation had not gone through. For the fact that , I even went there a week before to check out the place. And after three days prior to two weeks reservation I made a call and obviously the reservation I did for tables 84 & 100 have been taken ( that I found out when they called me a day before my reservation. Came here for my Aunt's birthday today and it was a pretty bad experience. First frustration is that I have a dietary restriction of no carbs. I chose the dish I felt had the least carbs on the menu (Atlantic cod filet with chorizo, stewed vegetables, cannellini beans, pearl onions, kale, red oil) and asked if they'd be willing to substitute the beans for a side salad. They refused which is pretty odd, but I figured I'd just leave the beans. I learned later they refused because "Chorizo and cannellini beans" is actually just obvious canned pork and beans (see photo). I guess you can't sub the beans when the "chorizo" comes in the same can. We were the first people in the restaurant, and it took them a full hour from when we ordered for our food to arrive. We started noticing that people who arrived after we had ordered were receiving food and started to get a bit annoyed so I finally waved down a waiter and asked where our food was. They finally brought out the food and it was a good mix of hot food and luke warm food (my mom had luke warm mashed potatoes, yum). My dad's appetizer arrived after his main course. Mine had no stewed vegetables, no pearl onions, and no red oil. It was just a cod fillet sitting on a bit of kale in a pile of pork 'n' beans and two cherry tomatoes. I asked where the veggies and onions were and they brought out a plate of gross looking slimy and brown veggies (still no pearl onions/red oil). They comp'd my mom's meal because the pork tenderloin was super tough, but all I got was an offer of free dessert which of course I declined and informed them that I can't have carbs. They didn't even bother to offer a percent off my meal despite the numerous issues and the hour long wait. Throughout this the restaurant manager was walking around having friendly conversations with every table around us but avoided us completely. Not a great way to try to retain patronage if you ask me. I had no idea that this restaurant even existed until just recently. It's tucked away inside the Executive Hotel and not easily seen from outside. The dining room is really cool looking with huge light fixtures hanging down from the centre of a very high ceiling. There were only a few occupied tables so we got to pick pretty much wherever we wanted to sit. Service was fairly attentive but we did have to wait a bit for refills on our drinks. Speaking of drinks, we ended up having the same drink, which I can't recall the name of now, but it was delicious. Should've taken a pic! It had the word lemonade in the name, that's all I can recall at the moment. I could've easily had two or three of these. We shared the calamari appetizer which was extremely good. Lots of flavour, and it was nice and crisp. The entrées were also really good - we chose the pork tenderloin and the lamb shank and we totally devoured them. Everything was very well-cooked and well-seasoned. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Eruption, which had bits of turtle cheesecake in it. Very good! Had a 2 day work conference at the Executive Plaza hotel. The Wild Fig is the restaurant in the hotel complex. We had a small group working lunch on day 2 and we were seated in a separate room in the restaurant. The room was ideal for what we needed. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. We ordered lunch off the menu. I had the chicken club and the cheesecake trio for dessert...both recommended by our server. I liked the concept and the ingredients in the chicken club with the avocado...unfortunately it was very bland...it needed flavour. This place looks like a 5* restaurant, prices and dinner menu options are that of a 5* restaurant, management however was 2* service, table server service 2.5*. Overall too pricey for the type of service. Had a nice glass of wine but 1st impression from when i was seated to when i walked out was very disappointing. It's important for the server to know what the specials are and details of how the entrees are prepared. Especially when you ask for the chefs recommendation or most popular dish, after all you want to have a good dining experience which I did not have. I remember this place as the Cooper Lounge and had great memories of salsa dancing many years ago. But now it's a new restaurant called the Wild Fig located inside the Executive Inn in Coquitlam. I met up with a friend here to have appies and drinks. I really liked the modern, trendy décor with the purple lights inside and cozy fireplace. They have different types of sections (lounge area with couches, tables and bar area). The live music was awesome. The singer and the repertoire suited my musical taste. Service was excellent and our server was both entertaining and attentive. Wine was fairly priced. The appetizers were a little on the small size for the price but it was tasty. The choices weren't too far off from what you would be served in any other casual dining places but the presentation was unique. I have been passing by this restaurant several times and finally decided to try it out and use the entertainments book coupon for dinner. The restaurant is located right inside executive hotel on north road in coquitlam. We were seated as soon as we arrived and tried the charboil baseball steak and Atlantic cod filet. Both of the dishes were good in flavour and the meat was cooked nicely, but i did find the service a bit slow and could have been a bit more attentive. There were a few occasions where we had to wait for the waitress to come out of the dining area to wave her down for water or the bill. We stayed in the hotel and had breakfast in the Wild Fig. We both had the "Farmer's Breakfast" with came with a "farmer's sausage" which was like a big wiener and deep fried cubes of potato. Worst breakfast ever for $16.00 each plus coffee which was $4.50. The service was very good but our toasts were burnt. l We sent them back and we got warm bread - hardly toasted. Bloody Caesar Salad: was pretty much a normal Caesar salad, I didn't taste a hint of vodka or spice and it came with a cheese bread slice instead of granna Padano cheese crouton or whatever was supposed to be on top. It's just a basic Caesar without croutons for double the price Beef Carpaccio: disappointing. I love the dried figs and Arugula and balsamic reduction but the meat was a huge let down. I eat Carpaccio a lot and am fully aware that it's supposed to be sliced thin. But not so thin that you can see the plate through it. There was literally no meat. I can't believe I'm saying this but Cactus Club's Carpaccio blows it out of the water. Spicy Tuna & Crab Roll: really good but very small portion. The tuna was virtually non-existent. The presentation and flavoring was on point but I just don't know if I'd order it again Service is hit and miss and I must say I'm not picky but I was astounded at the sight of the glassware. I have never seen dirtier glassware, one glass had lipstick stains from a previous customer, one had a thick rim of something I'm not sure of and my wine glass was pretty bad too. I'm not being a dink by only posting the glassware photos as there was good qualities about the meals. I have gone to the Wild Fig for Christmas dinner for three of the last four years. The first year was good, the second year was still OK, but this past year was terrible. They kept running out of food (such as stuffing) even though we were in the 5pm sitting, the turkey was dry, and the other options for entrées (except for the prime rib) were limited or bland. The Manager walked around and wished certain tables a Merry Christmas and asked how their food was, not our table, but he did a really good job sucking up to the people who will be coming once as they were Americans who checked into the hotel , never mind the ones who come yearly . The rest of the time he walked around with a miserable look on his face. The food was not replaced it would completely run out and we would miss certain things and have to go back and wait in a line with 20 people ahead of you. I went to get bread pudding and there was maybe 2 servings left , didn't look great . It was very difficult just getting a drink to have with our dinner .Once you got one eventually you wouldn't get another or a refill . The price was around 54 a person ,it had gone up in price last year and with the way it was this year we wont be back , the lights are up so bright and its been painted bright colors its very clinical looking as well , very strange , felt like I was in a senior care facility .. We tried The Wild Fig for the first time yesterday for Dine Out Vancouver. In short, the food was good and the service was outstanding! If you have read my other reviews, you probably know that I'm disabled and need to blend most of my meals. As you can imagine, this often presents challenges when dining out. I bring my own portable blender and we were able to sit in a booth with power outlets. This feature is unusual and a big plus in my books! Our server was extremely helpful, offering to wash my blender between courses and at the end of the meal! I usually need a lot of sauce to help me swallow and our server was more than happy to get a bowl of extra sauce for my entree. Nothing was rushed and I was never made to feel uncomfortable because of my unusual requirements. Now for the food... I started with the Candied Beet Salad which was delicious. It was sweet, light and refreshing. I could imagine this salad as a perfect meal on a hot summers day. The Sakura Pork entree was perfectly cooked. The meat was soft and moist even after blending. OMG! I was so surprised to hear and listen to the band Executive5 and went back to watch the other band the Coco Project. They were amazing!!! Ive been coming to the Wild Fig for years now and finally they have a band there that plays really GREAT Music. I wish the hotel will keep the band The Coco Project and Executive5 permanent. I had to pay cover since the band isnt contracted by the hotel to play. It would be nice for the hotel if they had a more permanent band so instead of us going somewhere else to go dancing and listen to live music my group and I will have a more permanent place to go to. read more

I want to start by saying that I REALLY wanted to like this place. I hadn't been here for about 8 years and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night looking for a new place to hold my birthday dinner in November this year. We parked in the underground parking lot and walked to the entrance of the hotel - it was a little confusing getting out of the parking lot because the signage was misleading. We thought it was just us, however we ran into 2 other people in the underground lot who were also confused. Either way, we grouped together and found our way out. Was a nice ambiance. Soft lighting, comfortable seats and the music wasn't too loud. I ordered white wine. It came luke warm. I had to ask our server to chill it for a bit. Unapologectic, She tried - came back maybe 10 mins later with a chilled wine glass and put the remaining wine on ice - it didn't help. Wine was still warm. Disappointed, but i continued to drink it, as I wasn't going to let it ruin my dinner. I ordered the beef carpaccio to start. The Beef Carpaccio was a little mushy. Keep in mind, i hadnt eaten all day, so i just ate it and used my warm wine to wash it down. Ordered the cod for ny main course. The cod was amazing. It was literally the only part of the evening that I enjoyed. I couldn't even bring myself to finish my warm wine. Then came dessert. We ordered the berry crumble and i had a Montè Cristo. Now, I've been drinking Montè Cristos for about 20 years. If you drink them, you know they rim the glass with sugar. The menu even stated it, but sadly it was not. I told my server that it wasn't rimmed, so i asked for sugar to do it myself. Unapologetic once again, she brought sugar and i did it myself while drinking the berry crumble soup we had ordered.
